Marion H. Ray
NEWTON - Marion H. Ray, 92, died Nov. 25, 2004, at Friendly Acres Retirement Community, Newton.
He was born May 11, 1912, at Kinsley, the son of Frank M. and Lillian M. Harvey Ray. A resident of Newton since 1968, formerly of rural Butler County and Wichita, he retired as owner of Southwest Livestock Commission Co.
He belonged to Salem United Methodist Church, Newton. He was a former member of Kiwanis Club, Board of Arkansas Avenue Schools of Wichita, and Hospice Board.
On Sept. 14, 1932, he married
Margaret Shriver at Leon. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include: a son, Dr. Philip C., San Angelo, Texas; a daughter, Marilyn McKee, Bowie, Md.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, C.J. Hamlin; and five sisters, Olive Rea Richardson, Leona LeMasters, Tressie Lentz, Essie Sullivan and Myrtle Wetz.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Salem United Methodist Church, Newton, with the Rev. Lynn Sifrit presiding. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Wichita.

Orville Kaufman
GREAT BEND - Orville Kaufman, 75, died Nov. 27, 2004, at his home, Great Bend.
He was born July 23, 1929, the son of Carl and Carrie Cook Kaufman. A Great Bend resident since 1965, moving from Dorrance, he was a farmer.
He attended First Southern Baptist Church.
On April 26, 1952, he married
Lois Janda at Dubuque. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Nathalea and Timothy Stephenson, Salina, and Karleen and Abraham Williams, Albuquerque, N.M.; five sisters, Helen Stickney, Dorothy Bay, both of Russell, LaFern Prediger and Carol Herber, both of Salina, and Leona Champion, San Jose, Calif.; and two grandchildren, Brandon and Kendra Stephenson.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Southern Baptist Church, Great Bend, with the Revs. Doyle Smith and Harlan Palser presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, with family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, and 9:30 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Wilson City Cemetery.

Walter G. Smith
DODGE CITY - Walter G. Smith, 89, died Nov. 25, 2004, at Primrose Nursing Home, Springfield, Mo.
He was born April 13, 1915, at Dodge City, the son of William and Hattie Dobrinski Smith. He graduated from Dodge City High School. A longtime resident of Dodge City, he worked as an engine foreman for A.T. and Santa Fe Railroad for more than 31 years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in the European Theatre.
He belonged to First Christian Church, Dodge City, where he was a former deacon, and he was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Howard Gotschall Post No. 1714.
On June 23, 1948, he married
Margaret "Esther" Jones at Dodge City. She died Nov. 23, 2003.
Survivors include: a son, David Smith, Colorado Springs; a daughter, Wanda Means, Springfield, Mo.; a sister, Edna Mae Webb, Denver; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church, with Gerald C. Rendel presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City. Burial will be in Maple GroveCemeterywith graveside rites conducted by Howard Gotschall Post No. 1714 VFW.

Leo C. Beeson
SCOTT CITY - Leo C. Beeson, 91, died Nov. 25, 2004, at his home, Scott City.
He was born Aug. 10, 1913, in Sherman County, the son of Clifford C. and Cora E. Jones Beeson. A Scott and Wichita County resident since 1923, he was a farmer and retired bulk fuels dealer.
On May 19, 1934, he married
Anna Frank at Scott City. She survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Betty L. Eisenhour and Mary Ann Beeson, both of Scott City; a brother, Lester, Scott City; three sisters, Ruby Eitel, Arlene Beaton, both of Scott City, and Velma Mae Harness, Chandler, Ariz.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Claude and John; three brothers; and a sister.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, Scott City, with the Rev. Michael McGuire presiding. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Price and Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Burial will be in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.

Ronald D. Ernst
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Ronald Dayle Ernst, 51, died Nov. 26, 2004, at his home, Jacksonville, Fla.
He was born Feb. 11, 1953, at Dodge City. A Jacksonville resident since 1998, previously of Virginia Beach and Dodge City, he graduated from Dodge City High School.
On June 14, 1991, he married
Marilyn Imeson at Virginia Beach. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son; a daughter; two brothers, including Gary, Dodge City; and a sister.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, with the Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greencrest Cemetery, Dodge City.

Gladys O. Humfeld-Bell
SUN CITY, Ariz. - Gladys O. Humfeld-Bell, 102, died Nov. 23, 2004, at Evergreen Nursing Home, Sun City, Ariz.
She was born May 3, 1902, at Junction City, the daughter of William Isaac and Ida May Wilbert Rissler. A Sun City, Ariz., resident since 1989, formerly of Bella Vista, Ark., Las Vegas and McPherson, she retired as a florist from Humfeld Floral Co., which she co-owned and operated.
On Nov. 25, 1923, she married
Herman S. "Curley" Humfeld at Belleville. He died Nov. 23, 1961. Later, she married
R.R. Bell. He died Nov. 23, 1989.
Survivors include: a daughter, Pat Armor, Sun City, Ariz.; a granddaughter, Scotty Neal, Willow, Alaska; three great-grandchildren, Shawn and Shelly Denny, and Chris Fleming; several nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service was at Evergreen Nursing Home, Sun City, Ariz. Inurnment will take place at a later date in McPherson Cemetery.

Dennis J. Farney
WILSON - Dennis J. Farney, 96, died Nov. 26, 2004, at Ellsworth County Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 12, 1908, at Lincoln County, the son of Dennis and Magdalena Kasper Farney. A lifetime Wilson resident, he was a farmer and stockman.
He belonged to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Nocturnal Adoration Society.
On Aug. 31, 1938, he married
Agnes E. Ptacek at Wilson. She died in 1995.
Survivors include: four sons, Dennis D., Kansas City, Mo., Robert F., Evansville, Ind., Richard A., Wilson, and Steven M., McPherson; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Wenceslaus Church, Wilson, with Father David Metz presiding. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Foster Mortuary, Wilson. Burial will be in the church cemetery, Wilson.

Velma L. Schlobohm
Velma L. Schlobohm, 92, died Nov. 26, 2004, at Golden Years Senior Care Center, Hutchinson.
She was born Dec. 12, 1911, at Portis, the daughter of Grant U. and Della R. House Sealock. A Hutchinson resident since 1952, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to the former Wesleyan Methodist Church.
On Oct. 10, 1928, she married
Lewis F. Schlobohm at Mankato. He died April 21, 1985.
Survivors include: the Harold Roberts' family, longtime neighbors and friends.
She was preceded in death by a half brother, John Awlway.
Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, with Pastor Garald Salmans presiding. Friends may sign book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
