Lola F. Richards
Lola F. Simmons Richards, 70, died Dec. 3, 2004, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
She was born Jan. 22, 1934, at Glen Elder, the daughter of Hoke S. and Cora Mae Staley Bailey. A Hutchinson resident for a year and a half, formerly of Lyons, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Lyons.
On Nov. 7, 1949, she married
Marion Simmons at Oilton, Okla. He died Aug. 17, 1983. In 1985, she married
Sam Henderickson at Lyons. He died Aug. 10, 1991. Then on Sept. 18, 1995, she married
Lester Richards Jr. at Ness City. He died July 12, 2002.
Survivors include: four sons, Larry and Mike Simmons, both of Derby, Brett Simmons, Grand Prairie, Texas, and Mark Simmons, Hutchinson; four daughters, Betty Smith, Sterling, Wynema Pierson and Leta Nachtigal, both of Hutchinson, and Natasha Valdez, Portales, N.M.; 16 stepchildren; a brother, Willis Bailey, Topeka; two sisters, Barbara Bowman, Bently, and Bonnie Clayton, Lyons; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Dale Harvey Simmons; two brothers, Wilbur Staley and Kenneth Bailey; and a sister, Leta Stoddard.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sillin Funeral Home, Lyons, with Pastor Willard Stafford presiding. Inurnment will be in Alden Valley Cemetery, Alden.

Roger Kent Pattinson
PIEDMONT, Okla. - Roger Kent Pattinson, 57, died Nov. 28, 2004, at his home in Piedmont.
He was born Nov. 7, 1947, at Wichita. A Pratt resident until 1965, he moved to Hutchinson, and then to Piedmont.
Survivors include: his wife Virginia, of the home; a son, Paul and his wife Lori, Buhler; a daughter, Kathy Pattinson, Burrton; his mother, Freeda Pattinson, Pratt; a sister, Pamela Barbee and husband Bob, Kimberling City, Mo.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral was held Dec. 1 at Piedmont. Burial was in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, Oklahoma City. Mercer-Adams Funeral Home, Bethany, Okla., was in charge of arrangements.

Warren D. Matthews
ANTHONY - Warren Donald Matthews, 94, died Dec. 1, 2004, at Wichita.
He was born Dec. 10, 1909, near Gibbon, Okla., the son of Charles William and Inna Zetta Barr Matthews. A resident of Anthony, he was a retired farmer, Boeing Aircraft employee and owner and manager of Winfield Bus Barn.
He belonged to United Methodist Church and Lions Club.
On Aug. 1, 1935, he married
Winona Wise at Penalosa. She survives.
Other survivors include:
three daughters, Gwendolyn Montgomery, Topeka, Joyce Dudeck and Donna Jean Marten, both of Wichita; a sister, Betty Jean Robinson, Winfield; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at United Methodist Church, Anthony, with the Rev. Nathan Stanton presiding. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery, Anthony.

Carl Alder
ELLINWOOD - James Barry Carl Alder, 86, died Dec. 3, 2004, at his home, Ellinwood.
He was born March 5, 1918, at Sneedville, Tenn., the son of Lloyd L. and Margaret Baldwin Alder. An Ellinwood resident since 1980, formerly of Dodge City, Ellsworth and Coldwater, he was a life insurance agent, owner and operator of Alder Trucking, Dodge City, truck driver for Feaster Trucking, Great Bend, farm and ranch hand and auto mechanic, Wilmore.
He belonged to United Methodist Church, Ellinwood, Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star and Isis Shrine, Lions Club and Melvin Jones Fellow.
He was former district governor from 1996 to 1997 and an Ellinwood City Council member from 1990 to 2003. He was awarded Distinguished Citizen in 1991 and the Ellinwood Schools Athletic Award in 2003. He volunteered at Meals on Wheels and commodities distribution.
On May 26, 1939, he married
Olive Myers at Coldwater. She died Feb. 23, 1970. Later, on April 22, 1976, he married
Leona Florene Wright at Dodge City. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Donald D., Coaldale, Colo., and James Jr., Eudora; three daughters, Heather Barta, Ellsworth, Carlyne Holt, Yuma, Ariz., Mary Ann Watts, Eudora; a stepson, Lance Wright, Newton; two sisters, Helen Haskell, Wellington, and Althea Alder, Everest, Ill.; 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald L., three brothers, Rudy, Jarge and John; and two sisters, Beatrice O'Dell and Mace Evans.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church, Ellinwood, with the Rev. Vernon Mealzer presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kimple Funeral Home, Ellinwood. Burial will be in Plains Cemetery.

Ruth A. White
MARQUETTE - Ruth A. White, 99, died Oct. 31, 2004, at Riverview Estates Nursing Home, Marquette.
She was born Sept. 15, 1905, at Marquette the daughter of Ernest and Hannah Hedman Oberg. She was a retired department store retail salesman.
Survivors include: a sister, Emma Day, Salina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett White.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Marquette Cemetery.

Wes Adell Jr.
McPHERSON - Wes Adell Jr., 57, died Oct. 30, 2004, at Wilkesboro, N.C.
He was born Nov. 19, 1946, at DeLand, Fla., the son of Ferman W. and Elsie Rose Canterbury Adell Jr. He was a recycling consultant.
He belonged to First Baptist Church, Lindsborg, and the Gideons.
Survivors include: two daughters, Kerri Graham and Lorri Curbello, both of Houston; three brothers, Steve, Houston, Doug, Wilkesboro, and Kevin Adell, White Plains, Ga.; a sister, Toni Adell Blair, Tyler, Texas; and five grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Lindsborg. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Hays-Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg. Private burial will be in Smoky Hill Cemetery, Lindsborg.

Donald G. Pounds
ARLINGTON - Donald Gene Pounds, 67, died Nov. 2, 2004, at his home, Arlington.
He was born Aug. 4, 1937, at DeSoto, Mo., the son of Lloyd and Elsie Phelps Pounds. An Arlington resident, formerly of Hutchinson, he was Production Manager for Mega Manufacturing for 37 years.
He belonged to Cornerstone Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
On Jan. 21, 1988, he married
Frances Spencer at Mesa, Ariz. She survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Donald E., David E., and Eric W., all of Hutchinson; a daughter, Carma Massingill, Hutchinson; two stepsons, Clifford Tinin and Jimmy Tinin, both of Hutchinson; a stepdaughter, Christina Fitzpatrick, Hutchinson; three sisters, Alice Lowrey and Barbara Zumalt, both of DeSoto, and Lori Ann Turner, Bunker, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Tinin.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel, with Pastor Larry Wedel presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.

Walt Harbert
KINGMAN - Walt Harbert, 75, died Nov. 1, 2004, at Via Christi Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.
He was born Nov. 14, 1928, at Willowdale, the son of Alfred and Leona Werner Harbert. A lifetime Kingman community resident, he was a farmer and stockman.
He belonged to St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both at Kingman; the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Wichita; Kingman County Soil Conservation; and was formerly a Kingman County commissioner.
He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran.
On June 12, 1951, he married
Pauline Paney at St. Joe-Ost. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Stan, Harper, and Sam, Mission; two daughters, Denise Steinhaus, Hot Springs, Ark., and Deborah Shuping, Wichita; a brother, Chuck, Kingman; three sisters, Mildred Arnold, Kingman, Mary Zogelman, Andale, and Kay Horsch, Colwich; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul; and a sister, Marcella Martin.
Parish rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kingman. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with Father Joseph Tatro presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday at Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Kingman.
