Ofelia Terrazas
ULYSSES - Ofelia Terrazas, 51, died Nov. 14, 2004, at Western Prairie Care Home, Ulysses, where she had been a resident.
She was born May 10, 1953, at El Terrero, Chihuahua, Mexico, the daughter of Arnulfo and Maria Acosta Loya. A Ulysses resident, she was a homemaker.
She was of the Catholic faith.
On April 29, 1974, she married
Guillermo Terrazas at Mexico. He survives, Ulysses.
Other survivors include: a son, Guillermo "Gill" Jr., Ulysses; two daughters, Gisela Menchaca, Oceanside, Calif., and Jacqueline Terrazas, Ulysses; nine brothers, Luis, Fernando, Santos, Rodolfo, Renz, Martin and Arturo Loya, all of Mexico, Juan Loya and Arnoldo Loya, both of Clovis, N. M.; five sisters, Maria Luz Loya, Teresa Loya, Socorro Loya and Marisela Loya, all of Mexico; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral will be held at Mexico. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Ulysses. Grant County Funeral Home, Ulysses, is in charge of arrangements.
Kenneth T. Walton
NEWTON - Kenneth T. Walton, 92, died Nov. 13, 2004, at Newton Presbyterian Manor.
He was born Jan. 18, 1912, at Newton, the son of Fred and Evelyn Tourtillott Walton. A resident of Newton, he worked for Santa Fe Railroad for 31 years as a switchman, until his retirement in 1974.
On Oct. 4, 1931, he married
Signa Maxine Slater Brandt. She survives, Newton.
Other survivors include: a son, Robert E., Hesston; two daughters, Susan Slater and Bron Green, both of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Evelyn Sinclair, Wichita; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in GreenwoodCemeteryMausoleum, Newton, with the Rev. Bill Hickerson presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, both at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton.

Allan V. Miller
GREAT BEND - Allan V. Miller, 57, died Dec. 6, 2004, at Wichita as the result of an automobile accident in Barton County.
He was born May 11, 1947, at Great Bend, the son of Vernon L. and Betty C. Panning Miller. He graduated from Ellinwood Rural High School in 1965. He was a graduate of Kansas State University and served as staff photographer for the K-State Collegian. A lifetime Barton County resident, he was a farmer and rancher and co-owner of Cheyenne Angus Farms Inc. and Beautiful Beginnings Inc., Great Bend. He also was a private pilot and co-owner of 4-Way Aircraft Inc.
He belonged to St. John's Lutheran Church, Ellinwood, where he was a trustee and elder; Barton County Fair Board; American Angus Association; and Kansas Angus Association, where he served as president in 1992. He also was past president of the Barton County Farm Bureau.
On Aug. 15, 1970, he married
Charolyn Kay "Chari" Lacey at Ellinwood. She survives.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Lori Greenfield and Julie Moran, both of Lawrence, and Jill Wiechman, Valley Center; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Max, and his mother.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, with the Revs. Merlyn Lorhke and Andy Keltner presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Kimple Funeral Home, Ellinwood. Burial will be in Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery, Ellinwood.

Evelyn Garner
NEWTON - Evelyn Garner, 109, died Dec. 8, 2004, at Kansas Christian Home, Newton.
She was born Nov. 19, 1895, in Ness County, the daughter of John B. and Loretta Ferrell Garner. She moved to Scott City and graduated from high school in 1914. In 1925, she was awarded a bachelor's degree in education from Emporia State University. In 1928, she was awarded a master's in household arts education from Columbia University, New York. In 1930, she was awarded a special supervisor's diploma in education in North Dakota. She taught children in rural Scott and Reno counties and high school in Scott County, Lehigh and Arkansas City. She retired from education after teaching for 13 years at Cowley County Community College.
She is survived by two nieces, Anna M. Brown, Valley Center, and Martha Brack, Olathe, Colo.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Garner, and a sister, Hazel Canaday.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton, with Chaplain Denny Bell presiding. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Scott County Cemetery, with the Rev. John Warring presiding.

Iona Pinkerton
KINGMAN - Iona Pinkerton, 93, died Dec. 7, 2004, at Kingman.
She was born June 22, 1911, at Pryor, Okla., the daughter of John and Katie Saner Stucky. A lifetime resident of the Kingman community, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include: a son, Jerry, Pratt; a daughter, Margaret Harbert, Kingman; a brother, Vic Stucky, Kingman; a sister, Eva Walker, Olney, Ill.; 21 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Ray Jr. and Larry; three brothers, Orville, Art and Leo; a grandson; and a great-grandson.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Ouida L. Pyle
McPHERSON - Ouida L. Pyle, 78, died Dec. 8, 2004, at The Cedars, McPherson.
She was born March 30, 1926, at Hebert, La., the daughter of Charlie McDonald and Lottie L. Brown. She was a graduate of Central Christian College and McPherson College, with degrees in education. A McPherson resident since 1946, formerly of Beloit, she was a retired teacher, having taught in McPherson area schools for 37 years.
She belonged to Free Methodist Church, Y.M.C.A., McPherson Area Retired Teachers Association, Kansas-National Education Association and National Teachers Association.
On March 18, 1946, she married
Glenn D. Pyle at West Monroe, La. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Don Pyle, Shawnee; a daughter, Dianna Stovall, McPherson; a sister, Myrtis Meadors-Murphy, Columbia, La.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip and Charles McDonald, and two sisters, Murlene Clark and Frances Blackwell.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Free Methodist Church, McPherson, with the Revs. Tom Griffith and Tom Mayse presiding. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at Stockham Family Funeral Home, McPherson. A private committal service and interment will be held in McPherson Cemetery, prior to the funeral.

Otto Bartel
GOESSEL - Otto Bartel, 81, died Dec. 4, 2004, at Bethesda Home, Goessel.
He was born Sept. 17, 1923, in rural Hillsboro, the son of Peter and Anna Schmidt Bartel. A lifelong Hillsboro/Goessel resident, he was a farmer.
He belonged to Goessel Mennonite Church.
On Sept. 4, 1947, he married
Geneva Dirksen. She survives, Goessel.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Carol Hartzler, Newton, and Bev Claassen, Beatrice, Neb.; two brothers, Roland, Eugene, Ore., and Peter, Wichita; two sisters, Martha Peters and Linda Goertzen, both of Goessel; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter; four brothers; a sister; and a grandchild.
Memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Goessel Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Kevin Goertzen presiding. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Goessel Mennonite Church fellowship hall.

Donna L. Karp
KIOWA - Donna Lee Karp, 83, died Dec. 6, 2004, at Wellington.
She was born July 28, 1921, at Kiowa, the daughter James Hobart and Myrtle Belle Shepherd Stairs. She attended Kiowa schools and graduated in 1939. In 2000, she moved to Wellington.
She belonged to First Christian Church, Kiowa Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and Eastern Star.
She married
Lee William Karp. He died Nov. 20, 1984.
Survivors include: a daughter, Tish Schwerdtfeger; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Hobart Stairs; two sisters, Dorothy Circle and Imogene McClure; and a grandson.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Riverview Cemetery, with Pastor Gib Clark presiding. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Kiowa.

Patrick A. Tucker
PRATT - Patrick Allen Tucker, 53, died Dec. 7, 2004, at his home.
He was born Nov. 29, 1951, at Great Bend, the son of Stanley Osborne and Sarah Grace Pratt Tucker. He was a sergeant with the Pratt Police Department. He previously had worked for Safeway Foods for 16 years.
He belonged to First Assembly of God Church, Pratt, and was a part of the Pratt Chamber of Commerce Leadership 2000 Alumni. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam era. His most recent rank was chief petty officer and chief master-at-arms in the Navy.
On March 20, 1982, he married
Shirley "Sunny" Grill at Pratt. She survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Sarah Michael Tucker, Pittsburg; two brothers, Jerry, Iuka, and Michael, Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Becky Clough, Langdon; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Assembly of God Church, Pratt. Visitation will be form noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, all at Larrison Mortuary, Pratt. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt.
