Ralph H. Brotherton
ANTHONY - Ralph Harris Brotherton, 93, died Nov. 18, 2004, at Wichita.
He was born Nov. 26, 1910, at Cheotah, Okla., the son of Henry F. and Nancy Jones Brotherton. A longtime Manchester, Okla., resident, he was a retired road grader operator for Grant County, Okla.
On Jan. 3, 1957, he married
Stella Jacobs at Cherokee, Okla. She survives, Manchester, Okla.
Other survivors include: two sons, Henry and Keith, both of Anthony; two stepsons, Mark Bush, Edward, Mo., and Ernest Bush, Pendellville, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Leigh Reynolds, Crestline, Calif.; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: two stepsons, Cliff and Darrel Bush; four brothers, Jim and Roy Brotherton, Henry and Clyde Bottoms; and three sisters, Marie Carson, Lula Meis and Ruby Niderost.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Manchester Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home, Anthony.

Annabelle J. Petterson
SYRACUSE - Annabelle Jeanne Wisdom Petterson, 84, died Nov. 19, 2004, at Hamilton County Hospital, Syracuse.
She was born June 26, 1920, at Kansas City, the daughter of Francis "Frank" Mitchell and Anna Belle Wasser Wisdom. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1938. A resident of Syracuse, she worked as a homemaker.
She was an elder at First Presbyterian Church and served 30 years as a member of the Kansas State Mental Health Board.
On June 23, 1940, she married
Dr. Cecil Edward Petterson M.D. at Kansas City, Kan. He survives, Syracuse.
Other survivors include: two sons, Dr. Jon Eric Petterson, Baker City, Ore., and Neil Edward, Security, Colo.; two daughters, Dr. Judith Petterson Clark, Columbia, Mo., and Nancy Jo Hull, Caldwell; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Elaine Griffin; and a brother-in-law.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. (MST) Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Syracuse. Committal service will follow in Syracuse Cemetery. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Greene-Fellers Funeral Home, Syracuse.

Ruby F. Unruh
HESSTON - Ruby F. Unruh, 82, died Nov. 18, 2004, at her home, Hesston.
She was born March 22, 1922, at Moundridge, the daughter of Amos T. and Amelia Sebrant Becker. A 48-year Hesston resident, moving from Goessel, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Meridian Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, rural Hesston.
On Sept. 20, 1942, she married
Oliver H. Unruh at Yuma, Ariz. He survives, Hesston.
Other survivors include: a son, Harley, Hesston; two daughters, Donna and Cindy Unruh, both of Hesston; two brothers, LaVerne Becker, Leon, and Lee Roy Becker, McPherson; a sister, Faye M. Nightingale, Moundridge; and a grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Unruh; three brothers; and four sisters.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Meridian Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, rural Hesston, with Ministers Shawn Giesel, Franklin Wenger and Eldon Wenger presiding. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Moundridge Funeral Home and 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church. Burial will be in Meridian Church Cemetery, rural Hesston.

Henry L. Schmidt
GARDEN CITY - Henry L. Schmidt, 47, died Nov. 18, 2004, at St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City.
He was born Jan. 31, 1957, at Liberal, the son of Alton and Joan Schauf Schmidt. He graduated from Garden City High School in 1976. A lifetime area resident, he worked at Monfort Beef Packing Plant for 18 years and he also worked in the maintenance department for Brookover Feed Yard, Garden City.
He belonged to Fellowship Baptist Church, Garden City.
On Sept. 18, 1982, he married
Daphne L. Sauer at Garden City. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include: a son, Kyron, Garden City; a daughter, Brittani Schmidt, Garden City; his mother, Joan Wagner, Garden City; a sister, Lori Ryan, Harlingen, Texas; and 15 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and stepfather, Dale Wagner.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Fellowship Baptist Church, Garden City, with the Rev. Michael McVey presiding. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Burial will be in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.

Ora E. Erway
ELLSWORTH - Ora E. Erway, 101, died Nov. 18, 2004, at Good Samaritan Retirement Village, Ellsworth.
She was born Nov. 1, 1903, at Lincoln County, the daughter of August L. and Emma Mollenkamp Feldkamp. She earned a bachelor's degree in education in Hays. A longtime Ellsworth/Kanopolis area resident, previously of Natoma, she taught for more than 40 years at area grade schools, including Wilson and Thomas elementary schools, until her retirement.
She belonged to First Presbyterian Church, Ellsworth.
On Aug. 2, 1927, she married
Russell Erway at Osborne. He died May 14, 1976.
Survivors include: a son, Douglas, Paso Robles, Calif.; a daughter, Sara Sue Schmidt, Des Plaines, Ill.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Ellsworth, with Pastor Leonard Goering presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth. Burial will be in Ellsworth Memorial Cemetery.

Clyde G. Combs
TURPIN, Okla. - Clyde G. Combs, 86, died Nov. 17, 2004, at Turpin, Okla.
He was born Jan. 11, 1918, at Lorena, Okla., the son of Claudis G. and Rhoda C. Saulsbury Combs. He farmed for many years and was employed by the Beech Aircraft Liberal plant for 30 years, retiring from both in 1980. He assisted with the renovation of the Turpin Senior Building.
On Sept. 2, 1945, he married
Leona M. Pafford at Hardesty, Okla. She survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Clarence, Aaron, both of Turpin, and Melvin, Paris, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter and four sisters.
Funeral will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at Miller Chapel, Liberal, with the Rev. Stanley Lehnert presiding. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to service time Saturday at Miller Mortuary. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery, rural Turpin.

Bill Forbes
LIBERAL - Bill Forbes, 72, died Nov. 14, 2004, at Wichita.
He was born Oct. 19, 1932, at Muleshoe, Texas, the son of Earl L. and Ida A. Sexton Forbes. A longtime resident of Clovis, N.M., moving to Liberal in 1969, he was an electrician working for National Beef Packing. In 1994, he retired from Nash-Finch. He was a partner in a fencing business, Liberal.
He served in the U.S. Army.
On March 2, 1952, he married
Donella Kirby at Clovis, N.M. She died June 11, 2003.
Survivors include: a son, Jay, Wichita; four daughters, Jan Bender, Tulsa, Okla., Donna Brown and Connie Seymore, both of Wichita, and Judy McNabb, Liberal; three sisters, Sara, Wanda and Faye; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Miller Chapel, Liberal, with the Rev. Jerry Odle presiding. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to service time Saturday, all at Miller Mortuary. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Eldon E. Thompson
CAMBRIDGE, Ohio - Eldon E. "Bud" Thompson, 72, died Nov. 17, 2004, at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 28, 1932, at Liberal. A Cambridge, Ohio, resident, he was regional manager for Geolograph Oil Field Services.
He served in the military during the Korean Conflict.
He married
Donna Riegel. She died in 1985. Then, on June 19, 1986, he married
Rachel Emerson. She survives, Cambridge, Ohio.
Other survivors include: a son; three daughters; a brother, Harvey, Liberal; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bundy-Law Funeral Home, Cambridge, Ohio, with the Rev. Donald Glass presiding.
James E. Goddard
DODGE CITY - James Elzie Goddard, 61, died Nov. 17, 2004, at Dallas.
He was born July 23, 1943, at Dodge City, the son of James E. "Bill" and Mary "Gertrude" Grider Goddard. He graduated from Dodge City High School in 1961 and attended University of Kansas City. A Dodge City resident, previously living all across the United States, including the Dallas area, he farmed in Morton and Stevens counties.
Survivors include: cousins and friends.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City, with the Rev. David S. Clipson presiding. Public visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City.
