Georgia B. Grizzell
CLAFLIN - Georgia B. Mullenix Grizzell, 87, died Oct. 25, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence.
She was born Jan. 12, 1917, at Chase, the daughter of George and Lola Fuson Mullenix. She was a homemaker and was cafeteria supervisor for the Claflin public schools for several years and operated restaurants in Claflin and Russell. She was a lifetime Claflin resident, living the past six years in Lawrence.
She belonged to United Methodist Church and Holyrood OES No. 420, both at Claflin.
On June 20, 1936, she married
Robert E. Grizzell at Great Bend. He died Aug. 6, 1990.
Survivors include: two sons, Ken Grizzell and his wife, Suzanne, Lawrence, and George Grizzell and his wife, Dorothy, Preston, Idaho; two brothers, Stan Mullenix, Lawrence, and Leonard Mullenix, Roswell, N.M.; three grandchildren, Lisa Davis and her husband, Chris, Lawrence, Matt Grizzell and his wife, Deborah, Aurora, Ill., and Adam Grizzell, Preston, Idaho; and seven great-grandchildren, Bobby, Carly and D.J. Davis, and Keaton, Haley, Cole and Austen Grizzell.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Marvin Mullenix, Clarence Mullenix and Bernard Mullenix.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Claflin Cemetery, with the Rev. Sarah Hickson de Salazar presiding. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, with the family present at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington.
Memorials may be sent to American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.
Betty J. Hale
SATANTA - Betty Jeane Hale, 74, died Oct. 24, 2004, at Haughton, La.
She was a former longtime resident of Ruston, La., where she worked in medical records at Green Clinic for many years.
She also was a former Satanta resident.
Survivors include: a son; two daughters; four brothers, including Alva and Lloyd Decker, both of Satanta, and Dale Decker, Sublette; two sisters; and four grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Dudley Township Cemetery, Satanta.
Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette, is in charge of the arrangements.
Thomas L. Dittmer
TRIBUNE - Thomas Lee Dittmer, 77, died Oct. 25, 2004, at Greeley County Hospital, Tribune.
He was born Nov. 24, 1926, at El Reno, Okla., the son of Herman and Murl Catherine Roberts Dittmer. He had been a Greeley County resident since his retirement as sergeant from the U.S. Army in 1953.
He belonged to First Christian Church, El Reno; Kansas Livestock Association, Topeka; National P.O.W. Association, Washington, D.C.; and was a 50-year member of both the Anthem Masonic Lodge, Scott City, and Order of the Eastern Star, Garden City. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, where he earned the Purple Heart and was a prisoner of war for 32 months.
On Nov. 29, 1953, he married
Betty Jean Hawes at Bel Pre. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Bryan Lee, Belleview, Wash., and Loren Robert Dittmer, Tribune; two daughters, Le Jean Blevins, Derby, and Carrie Murl Wolfe, Tribune; a sister, Marie E. Stover, El Reno; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. (MDT) Friday at First Baptist Church, Tribune, with the Rev. Mark Randolph presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Price and Sons Funeral Home, Tribune. Burial will be in Greeley County Cemetery, Tribune, with full military honors conducted by the Funeral Honors Detail from Fort Riley.

Elmer F. Goering
MOUNDRIDGE - Elmer F. Goering, 87, died Oct. 26, 2004, at Memorial Home, Moundridge.
He was born Jan. 31, 1917, in McPherson County, the son of Jonathan J. and Katarina Zerger Goering. He graduated from Moundridge High School in 1935 and attended Bethel College. He was a farmer and bookkeeper at Central Kansas Hatchery and Moundridge Cooperative Creamery Co.
He belonged to Eden Mennonite Church, Moundridge.
On Sept. 26, 1941, he married
Linda J. Krehbiel at Moundridge. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, E. Fred Goering, Moundridge; three daughters, Willene McElvain, Denver, Marietta Friesen, Fairbury, Neb., and Carmen Reimer, Leavenworth, Wash.; six brothers, Harvey, Gainville, Fla., Philip, Anaheim, Calif., Emil, Topeka, Donald and Clyde, both of Moundridge, and Marlo Goering, Wichita; a sister, Marjorie Stucky, Moundridge; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Roger D. Goering; a brother, Reuben Goering; and three sisters, Meta Juhnke, Laura Krehbiel and Mary Ann Preheim.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Eden Mennonite Church Cemetery, rural Moundridge. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Eden Mennonite Church, rural Moundridge, with the Rev. Mary Cross and Pastors Lee Lever and Jim Ostlund presiding. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moundridge Funeral Home.

Jessie Marie Sell Jensen
GREAT BEND - Jessie Marie Sell Jensen, 81, died Oct. 25, 2004, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Aug. 12, 1923, at Bison, the daughter of John Wesley and Annie Duckworth Woods. A resident of Great Bend most of her life, she was a clerk for Christian Supply Store.
In 1939, she married
Frank J. Sell, in Chase County. He died in 1943. On June 10, 1944, she married
Arno V. Jensen at Great Bend. He died Aug. 6, 1982.
Survivors include: five sons, Frank Sell, Hutchinson, Jim Jensen, Valley Center, Gary Jensen, Pierre, S.D., Robert Jensen, Great Bend, and Rodney Jensen, Sierra Vista, Ariz.; four daughters, Carol Malone, Mulberry, Joyce Wapelhorst and Janis Reed, both of Great Bend, and Suzanne Gaschler, Ellis; two brothers, Robert Woods, Tonganoxie, and David Woods, Horton; and two sisters, Goldie Kester, Ava, Mo., and Dorothy McCroskey, Springfield, Mo.; 26 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Georgianna Jensen, two brothers, Ira Ervin and John Wesley Woods, and five sisters, Anna Mae McCall, Ruby Holiman, Roxie Sinklier, Virginia Surrell, and Melva Heronemus.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend. Visitation is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Great Bend Cemetery.

Vera Aloise Hankins
NEWTON - Vera Aloise Hankins died Oct. 23, 2004, at Hamilton Pavilion, Norwich, Conn.
She was born in Randall, the daughter of Frank and Laura Helena Fredricka Feldman Habbart. A resident of Salina in the early 1950s, she lived in Newton for nearly 50 years before moving to Connectucut in August. She attended the Chicago Conservatory and moved to Salina, where she owned a beauty salon and co-owned and operated Hankins Jewelers, Newton, with her husband and later Selections by Vera Hankins until a few years ago.
She belonged to St. Matthew Episcopal Church, Newton, Chapter E.Q. of P.E.O., Newton Mid-Kansas Orchestra Association Board of Directors and Newton Chamber of Commerce.
On July 31, 1949, she married
Samuel B. Hankins Jr. in Colby. He died July 10, 1986.
Survivors include: a son, The Rev. Scott Hankins, Norwich, Conn.; a companion, Frank Spangler, Newton, many nephews and nieces; and great-nephews and nieces.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, Newton, with Father Robert Layne celebrant. Visitation is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
