Margaret J. Boeckman
Margaret J. Boeckman, 86, Onaga, died Friday, April 15, 2005, at the Onaga Community Hospital. She was transferred there from Eastridge Care Home in Centralia where she had been a resident since January of 2005.
She was born September 14, 1918, on a farm southeast of Kelly, one of fifteen children of Bernard Sr. and Mary Knipper Niehues. Margaret grew up there, attended St. Bede’s School, and helped on the family farm.
On September 14, 1948, she married
Albert J. Boeckman at St. Bede’s Church at Kelly. They farmed northeast of Corning. Her husband, Albert, died suddenly of a heart attack July 3, 1973. She remained on the farm until 1983 when she moved to Onaga.
.She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Onaga and a former member of St. Patrick’s Church and the altar society at the church at Corning. She enjoyed all kinds of needlework and did quilting and embroidery.
Survivors are a son, Richard Boeckman, and a daughter, Marianna Brunkow, both of Onaga; two brothers, Edwin Niehues, Goff and Robert Niehues, Sr. Seneca; four sisters, Sr. Richardis Niehues OSB, Atchison, Antoinette Hermesch, Seneca, Josepha Altenhofen, Kelly, and Evelyn Hutfles, Topeka; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers; Bernard “Ben” Niehues, Jr., John J. Niehues, George F. Niehues, and Albert H. Niehues; four sisters, Agnes Niehues, an infant, Alma Haverkamp, Anna Niehues, and Erma Niehues.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M. Monday at St. Patrick’s Church at Corning. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca on Sunday at 2 and 7 PM where she will lie in state after 8:30 AM Sunday.

Francis A. Boeding
Francis August Boeding, 93, of Seneca, formerly of Raytown, Missouri died on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Crestview Nursing & Residential Living.
Francis was born on October 25, 1920 on a farm east of Kelly, to Herman Joseph and Anna Marie Haverkamp Boeding. He attended St. Bede’s Catholic School in Kelly graduating from the 8th grade. Francis worked at Fairmont Food for 32 years; before he began repairing televisions.
Francis married
Pauline Helling on October 10, 1959 at St Ann’s Catholic Church in Independence, Missouri. The couple celebrated 41 years of marriage before Pauline’s death on June 6, 2001.
Francis enjoyed traveling, playing cards, raising a big garden and attending the Royals and Chiefs games.
He was a member of Our Lady of Lords Catholic Church in Raytown, Missouri, where he was an usher for the church.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Fr. Damian Boeding and Wilbert Boeding; and sisters, Mary Kremer, Rita Brownsberger, Edna Steinlage and Rosalia Fangman.
He is survived by his children, Anthony (Judy) Boeding of Aurora, Illinois and Amy (Ron) Rogers of Centerview, Missouri; a brother, Lawrence Boeding of Gladstone, Missouri; a sister, Leona Olberding of Seneca; and three grandchildren, Courtney, Katie and Brett.
A rosary will be prayed at 7 PM on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 AM Thursday, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet CatholicCemeteryin Kansas City, Missouri.
Memorials will be designated later.
Lambert H. Boeding
Lambert H. Boeding, 81, of Corning, Kansas, died early Friday morning, September 23, 2005, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca. He was transferred there from Life Care Center where he had been a resident since April 19, 2005.
He was born November 23, 1923, on a farm southwest of Kelly, the son of Conrad and Mary Waller Boeding. He attended school in Corning. In 1940 he went to Price Memorial College in Amarillo, Texas. He returned to the farm to help when his brothers were in the army during World War II. In 1945 he moved to Kansas City and worked for Jen-Sal Laboratories.
On February 4, 1947 he married
Marlys Stansell at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. They lived in Kansas City until 1953 when they moved to Denver. He was transferred to Denver as a branch manager of Jen-Sal Laboratories. In 1959 they moved to Montrose, Colorado where they built and operated the Rose Bowl Lanes bowling alley. Lambert bowled a perfect 300 while in a league there.
In 1962 they sold the bowling alley and moved to Seneca. Lambert bought a milk route and ran it for a short time before he had a heart attack. In 1963 they moved to a farm north of Corning. They bought the Clemens Insurance Agency which became the Boeding Insurance Agency. They operated the business for 25 years before selling it in 1987. He drove the school bus for District #380 in Centralia until 1991. He also worked at the Amoco Station in Seneca.
They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1997. From 1998 to 2001 he worked at the Golden Eagle Casino in customer relations.
His wife, Marlys, died June 28, 2005. He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael on April 18, 2001.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church at Corning and a member of the Knights of Columbus and the 4th Degree Knights. He served on the Selective Service Draft Board in Seneca. He enjoyed farming, golfing, and visiting with his friends.
Survivors are a daughter, Jody Honeyman of Topeka; two brothers, Conrad Boeding of Denver, and Sylvester J. “Skall” Boeding of Seneca; a sister, Mary Kohake of Seneca; and two grandchildren.
Besides his wife and son, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Aloysius “Allie, ” and Joseph Boeding; five sisters, Lena Gudenkauf, Ann Kramer, Odelia “Tillie” Buessing, Clara Droge, and an infant sister, Margaret Boeding.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Monday at St. Patrick’s Church at Corning. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed by the Knights of Columbus at 7 PM Sunday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca, where he will lie in state after 8:30 AM Sunday.

Marlys J. Boeding
Marlys J. Boeding, 80, Seneca, formerly of Corning, died Tuesday morning, June 28, 2005, at Life Care Center in Seneca, where she had been a resident the past three months.
She was born March 15, 1925, on a farm southwest of Centralia, the daughter of James and Hulda Erickson Stansell. She grew up there and graduated from Centralia High School in 1943. In 1944 she went to work for the federal government as a clerk in the Kansas City Records Center until 1953.
On February 4, 1947, she married
Lambert H. Boeding at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. They lived in Kansas City until 1953 when they moved to Denver, CO. She and her husband Lambert both worked for Jen-sale Laboratories. Marlys was a billing clerk until 1956 when they adopted their son, Michael. In 1959 they family moved to Montrose CO where they built and operated a bowling alley. In February of 1960 they adopted their daughter, Jody Sue. They moved to Seneca in September of 1962. Marlys and Lambert bought the Clement Insurance Agency and renamed it the Boeding Insurance Agency. They moved to a farm north of Corning in January 1963. Marlys began work for the State of Kansas SRS Office in Seneca in 1978. She was a homemaker’s services supervisor for Nemaha, Marshall, and Pottawatomie counties until her retirement in 1996. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in February of 1997.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, St. Ann’s Altar Society, Post #37 of the American Legion Auxiliary, the PTO where she served as an officer for several years, the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital Pitch & Bridge Club, and played bridge with her husband in a couple’s club. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and playing cards with her friends.
Survivors besides her husband Lambert are a daughter, Jody Honeyman of Topeka; two brothers, James Stansell of Sioux Falls, SD and Richard Stansell of Lees Summit, MO; a sister, Velma Hulsing, Seneca; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael on April 18, 2001 and a brother, Vincent Stansell.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 A.M. Thursday at St. Patrick’s Church at Corning. The burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 7 P.M. Wednesday at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Michael Boeding
Michael L. Boeding, 44, of Corning, Kansas, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at his home in Corning.
He was born November 22, 1956, in Denver, Colorado. When he was three weeks old, he was adopted by Lambert and Marlys Stansell Boeding and came to live at Corning, Kansas. He grew up there, attended Corning Grade School, and graduated from Centralia High School at Centralia, Kansas, in 1974.
Michael attended the Building & Trade School at Atchison, Kansas. He learned the trade of bricklaying, and during the summer he worked for a firm laying brick in the state of Washington. Following school, he was employed by a bricklaying company in western Kansas. In 1976 he started work at Goodyear in Topeka where he manufactured earthmoving tires for 24 years. While Goodyear was on strike, he also worked for Kansas Power & Light and for the Jeffrey Energy Center.
He was married
to Tamra Freed in August of 1988. They were later divorced.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Church at Corning, Duck's Unlimited in Seneca, Kansas, and the Rubber Worker's Local #307 in Topeka. A very charitable and well-liked person, Michael was supportive to a number of organizations and sponsored two children through World Visions. He loved to hunt and fish.
Survivors are, a daughter, Sheyanne Boeding of Topeka, his parents, Lambert and Marlys Boeding of Corning, and a sister, Jody Morgan of Goff, Kansas.
The mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday at St. Patrick's Church at Corning. The burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca on Friday at 7 P.M.

Rose Zella Boeding
Rose Zella Boeding, 96, of Seneca, Kansas, died on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Crestview Manor care home in Seneca.
She was born on May 3, 1916 in Humbolt, Nebraska, the daughter of John Frederick and Ruby E. Sypherd Luginbill. She attended the rural Eagle Star School and one year of high school in the Bern, Kansas community. After school she helped out the elderly in Bern and surrounding communities. While working at a bakery in Seneca she met her future husband Norbert.
Rose Zella married
Norbert “Nub” Boeding on August 7, 1940 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Rose Zella worked for the Dairy Queen and the Starlite Motel in Seneca. In 1964 she and Nub started running the Knights of Columbus Clubroom, until they retired in 1978.
They were married
54 years before Nub preceded her in death on September 14, 1994. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Kay; brothers, William, Harold, Fritz, George, Allen and Lyle Luginbill; and a sister, Lily Claas.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca and St. Ann’s Altar Society at the church. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking and baking.
She is survived by a son, Joe (Darlene) of Topeka; seven daughters, Karen (Danny) Henry of Seneca, Judy (Vern) Hutfles of Onaga, Paula (Eldon) Fleury of Seneca, Donna (Frank) Maskil of Bonner Springs, Kansas, Pat (Danny) Deters of Corning, Joanie (Rick) Clelland of Topeka, and Marilyn (Tom) Nolte of Centralia; a sister, Eva Krotzinger, of Seneca; 23 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 AM Saturday, July 14, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Friday, July 13, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Sylvester J. "Skall" Boeding
Sylvester J. "Skall" Boeding, 91, of Seneca, Kansas, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at his home.
Skall, as he was known, was born November 23, 1921, on a farm southwest of Kelly, the son of Conrad and Mary Waller Boeding. He attended St. Patrick’s Grade School in Corning and graduated from Corning Rural High School in May of 1941.
He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater from August 11, 1942 until November 12, 1945 as a clerk and medic.
On September 16, 1949 he married
Teresa Mahoney at St. Patrick’s Church in Corning. The couple celebrated 63 years of marriage. His interests in life were woodworking, hunting and fishing. He loved visiting with family and friends.
He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca and the St. Joseph Society at the church. He was also a member of the American Legion Arthur Mills Post #21 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa; three sons, Dan (Pam) of Topeka, Steve (Julie) and Phil (Barb) of Seneca; four daughters, Joan (Bob) McKinley of Axtell, Linda (Dennis) Roeder of Frankfort, Ann (John) Bahr of Wichita and Karen (Jay) Rohleder of West Chester, Pennsylvannia; and 21 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward, Aloysius, Conrad, Joseph, and Lambert; his sisters, Lena Gudenkauf, Odelia “Tillie” Buessing, Ann Kramer, Mary Kohake, Clara Droge, and an infant sister, Margaret Boeding.
Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Friday, February 1, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM Saturday, February 2, at the Seneca Knights of Columbus Hall. Burial will be in Sts. Peter & PaulCemeteryin Seneca.
