Albert P. Broxterman
Albert P. Broxterman, 92, of Seneca, formerly of Corning, KS, died Friday evening, September 21, 2001, at Countryview Estates Care Home in Seneca, KS.
He was born January 13, 1910, the youngest of six sons of John and Mary Koelzer Broxterman, on a farm southwest of St. Benedict. He attended St. Mary's School at St. Benedict and helped on the family farm. His parents both died when he was young. He lived with brother Ed Broxterman and did farm work.
On January 23, 1929, he married
Bernadine Ronnebaum at Sts. Peter & Paul Church at Seneca. She died January 6, 1974. They lived and farmed south of Seneca and west of Corning before purchasing a farm west of Corning. He farmed there until the spring of 1976 when he moved to Seneca.
He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church, the St. Joseph Society at the Church, and the Knights of Columbus #1769 at Seneca. He served on the board of the Nemaha County Soil Conservation, the Corning School Board, and was a volunteer fireman at Corning.
Survivors are two sons, Donald J. Broxterman and Ronald J. Broxterman both of Topeka, KS; a daughter, Theresa Heiman of Seneca; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Bernadine Broxterman on May 10, 1931 and Gladys Ann Koerperich on February 17, 1965; five brothers, Benedict Broxterman, Leo Broxterman, Chris Broxterman, George Broxterman, and Edmund Broxterman; two granddaughters, Brenda Ann Heiman on January 20, 1950, and Mary Katherine Heiman on August 16, 1966; a grandson Kirk James Koerperich on February 17, 1965, and a great-granddaughter, Sarah Dawn Broxterman on June 21, 1990.
The mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, September 24, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be in St. Patrick's ChurchCemeteryin Corning. A prayer service will be conducted at 3 P.M. and a rosary will be prayed at 7 P.M. Sunday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Frank J. Broxterman
Frank J. Broxterman, 91, Seneca, died Sunday, January 02, 2005, shortly after arrival at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
He was born January 21, 1913, on a farm northeast of Baileyville, KS, the son of August and Mary Schaefer Broxterman. When he was six years old, the family moved to a farm west of Baileyville. He attended Sacred Heart School at Baileyville and helped on the family farm. As a young man, he worked for farmers in the area.
On February 18, 1941, he married
Rita M. Stallbaumer at St. Mary’s Church at St. Benedict, KS. They farmed northeast of Baileyville, raised cattle and hogs, and had a dairy operation. In April of 1986, they retired and moved to Seneca.
His member ships include Sts. Peter & Paul Church, the St. Joseph Society, and the Knights of Columbus #1769 for over 70 years, all at Seneca. He was also a former member of Sacred Heart Church and served on the board of the Baileyville Rural Water District Board for six years during the 1970s. He enjoyed bowling, and in later years his family encouraged him to play golf which he discovered he liked.
Survivors are his wife, Rita, of the home in Seneca; four sons, Steven Broxterman of Kansas City, KS, Roger Broxterman of Lago Vista, TX, Gary Broxterman of Harleysville, PA, and David Broxterman of Bates City, MO; a daughter, Sandra Feldkamp of Manhattan, KS; 8 grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Karnowski and Clara Katopish, and a grandson, Jeffrey Broxterman, November 22, 2003.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, January 5, 2005, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosary will be prayed on Tuesday at 2 and 7 P.M. at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca, where he will lie in state after 8:30 A.M. Tuesday.

Raphael P. Broxterman
Raphael P. Broxterman, 87, of Baileyville, Kansas, died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at Countryview Estates Care Home in Seneca, Kansas. He had been a resident at the care home for about two weeks.
He was born December 18, 1913, at Baileyville, the son of William and Anna M. Larkin Broxterman. He attended Baileyville School and a year at Maur Hill High School at Atchison, Kansas.
On November 17, 1937, he married
Elmerina M. Haug at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville. They lived in Baileyville where they owned and operated the Broxterman Oil Co. along with a Conoco Service Station and a tank wagon service. In 1978 they sold their business and retired. In November of 1987 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.His wife, Elmerina, died June 27, 1989.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church at Baileyville. He was on the committee working to bring water from Seneca to Baileyville.
Survivors are a son, LeRoy Broxterman of Hutchinson, Kansas; two daughters, Arlene Lackey of Georgetown, Texas and Linda Broxterman of Seneca, Kansas; a brother, Kenneth Broxterman of Chicago Heights, IL; three sisters, Cecelia McEnaney of Shenandoah, IA, Ann Sommers of Topeka, and Viola Haug of Axtell, KS; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Aloysius, Celestine, Virgil, Gilbert, and Lawrence; and three sisters, Rose Dultmeier, Dorothy Lierz, and Loretta Carter.
The mass of Christian burial will be 10 A.M. Wednesday, July 25, at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville. The burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed on Monday at 7 P.M., and on Tuesday at 2 P.M. and at 7 P.M. at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
Memorials may be given for Sacred Heart Church or Nemaha Valley Community Hospital and sent in care of the family.
Richard K. Buck
Richard K. Buck, 56, of Seneca, Kansas, died Monday, October 29, 2012 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
He was born August 29, 1956 the son of Martin and Ida Gibson Buck in San Jose, California.
He grew up and attended schools in California. After graduation he came to work for Ploy Plastic Company in Salina, Kansas. His health deteriorated and he became unable to work, at which time he made his home in Seneca.
A private inurnment will be held at a later date in Sts. Peter & PaulCemeteryin Seneca.
Joseph H. Buessing
Joseph H. Buessing, 98, of Axtell, Kansas, died November 27, 2012, at Life Care Center in Seneca, where he had been a resident since October 2005.
Joseph Henry Buessing was born November 29, 1913 on a farm east of Axtell, the son of Joseph and Helena Engelken Buessing, the sixth of nine children. He attended the Sacred Heart School in Baileyville until the 8th grade, also helping on the family farm. He attended two years of high school at Maur Hill in Atchison, then two years at Axtell High School where he graduated in 1932.
On January 30, 1940 Joe married
Margaret Mary Fienhage at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict. The couple farmed south of Baileyville for five years before purchasing a farm a half-mile east of Axtell. They operated a Grade A dairy and also raised livestock. In the fall of 1960, they purchased a drug store, Buessing Sundries in Axtell. They also owned and operated the Axtell Laundromat.
They sold their farm and moved into Axtell in 1972. Joe was clerk at the Axtell Post Office for 18 years, retiring on December 30, 1988. In 2000, after a serious car accident, they moved into a smaller home after Margaret was unable to take care of a large house. Joe enjoyed taking over house-keeping duties. On July 7, 2001 they held a sale where they divested the many antiques they had collected over a lifetime.
Joe enjoyed life and his morning coffee breaks. He liked to repair antique furniture. He loved to read and play cards, always keeping score.
He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Axtell and served on the church committee. The couple celebrated 69 years of marriage before Margaret died on May 13, 2009.
He is survived by six daughters, Jane (Clarence) Nordhus of Baileyville, June (Walt) Rottinghaus of Seneca, Joan (Ken) Frankel of Pasadena, California, Ruth Rottinghaus of Richmond, Washington, Connie (Eldon) Rottinghaus of Ozawkie and Peggy (Terry) Rottinghaus of Axtell; a son, Jim (Martha) Buessing of Shell Knob, Missouri; a sister, Norene Ronnebaum of Independence, Iowa; and 22 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; brothers John, Louis, Paul, Bernard and Vince Buessing; sisters Marie Mueting and Hermena Shalsky; and a grandson, Blake Buessing in 1994.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 1, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Axtell. A rosary will be prayed at 7 PM at the church in Axtell. He will lie in state at Lauer Funeral Home on Friday until 4 PM. He will be buried at St. Michael’sCemeteryin Axtell next to his wife Margaret.
Memorials may be given for St. Michael’s School, and sent in care of the family.
Odelia "Tillie" Buessing
Odelia "Tillie" Buessing, 84, of Seneca, Kansas, formerly of Baileyville, Kansas, died Tuesday, October 23, 2001, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca. She had cancer.
She was born July 12, 1917, on a farm east of Kelly, the daughter of Conrad and Mary Waller Boeding. She grew up there and attended St. Bede's and St. Patrick's School. After she finished school, she did domestic work in Atchison and Topeka.
On September 28, 1937, she married
Vincent A. Buessing at St. Patrick's Church at Corning, Kansas. They lived in Baileyville three years before moving to the St. Bridget Community north of Axtell where they lived for 40 years. They moved back to Baileyville in 1980 where she and husband operated an antique business. Her husband, Vincent, died September 23, 2000. "Tillie" moved to Seneca in December of 2000.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church and St. Ann's Altar Society at the church in Seneca, a former member of Sacred Heart Church and the altar society at Baileyville, and a founding member of the St. Bridget Society.
Survivors are a son Larry Buessing of Atchison, KS; a daughter, Cleta Renyer of Sabetha; four foster sons, Mark Wagner of Axtell, KS, Leland Moore of Marysville, KS, Chuck Sample of Blue Rapids, KS, and Marshall Moore of Phillipsburg, KS; two foster daughters, Mary Beth Koch of Ramona, OK, Patricia Stallbaumer of Topeka, KS; three brothers, Conrad Boeding of Denver, CO, S.J. "Skall" Boeding of Seneca, and Lambert Boeding of Corning; two sisters, Mary Kohake of Centralia, KS and Clara Droge of Topeka; 26 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Aloysius "Allie" and Joseph Boeding and three sisters, Lena Gudenkauf, Ann Kramer, and Margaret Boeding.
The mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be in Sacred HeartCemeteryat Baileyville. The rosary will be prayed at 2 P.M. Wednesday and a vigil prayer service will be conducted at 7 P.M. Wednesday at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Joseph A. "Joe" Burdick
Joseph A. “Joe” Burdick, 96, of Seneca, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca. He was transferred there from Country View Estates Care Home where he had been a resident since October 2001.
He was born August 25, 1906, the son of Henry and Berdiena Feldkamp Burdick on a farm southwest of Seneca. He attended the Diamond School, Sts. Peter & Paul School, and worked on the family farm.
On September 13, 1933, he married
Rose M. Tangeman at St. Mary’s Church at St. Benedict. They lived and farmed on the Burdick homestead. Joe raised cattle, farmed, and operated a small dairy. In 1983 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. His wife Rose preceded him in death on March 28, 1993. Joe moved into Seneca in the summer of 1993.
He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church, St. Joseph Society at the church, and the Knights of Columbus #1769 for over 60 years, all at Seneca.
Survivors are three sons, Wilfred Burdick of Payson, AZ, Alden Burdick of Springfield, FL, and James Burdick of Raymore, MO; two daughters, Gladys Hutfles of Pasco, WA and Janice Franks of St. John, IN; a sister, Anna Kruse of St. Joseph, MO; and 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by an infant son Joseph on July 8, 1939; four brothers, John on December 3, 1964, Ben on December 17, 1978, Frank on October 10, 1979, and Fr. Fabian on March 20, 2003; and two sisters, Sr. Julitta, O.S.B. on November 19, 1993 and Elizabeth Ronnebaum on June 15, 1928.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be in the church cemetery. The Knights of Columbus rosary will be prayed at 2 P.M. and a vigil prayer service will be offered at 7 P.M. Tuesday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca, where he will lie in state after 8:30 A.M. Tuesday.
