Rosedna C. Haug
Rosedna C. Haug, 86, Baileyville, died Tuesday, February 14, 2006, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
She was born January 12, 1920, the daughter of Edward and Rose Hulsing Bergman, on a farm south of Baileyville. Rosedna attended a country school, named Wayside, a half mile south of her home, and later attended Sacred Heart School at Baileyville. She helped on the family farm and worked with other families doing child care and domestic work.
On November 6, 1940, she married
Lawrence H. Haug at Sacred Heart Church, Baileyville. They lived and farmed southwest of Baileyville until 1983 when they moved to Baileyville. Her husband, Lawrence, died November 21, 1983. Rose continued to live in Baileyville.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Altar Society at the church, the Benedictine Oblates, and the Widows and Widowers Group. Rosedna was a faithful quilter for the church and also helped at the Mission Room in Seneca. Rosedna enjoyed quilting and playing cards with her card club and family. She also enjoyed putting puzzles together.
Survivors are four sons, Francis and Gerald of Baileyville, and Kenneth and Ron of Salida, CO; a daughter, Alice R. Macke of Axtell; two sisters, Grace Kohake of Seneca and Liena Mae Wasley of Livermore, CA; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Cletus on April 17, 1990, Merlin on May 9, 1999, Vern on October 16, 1988, and Mienrad on February 15, 1978; and sister, Flavia Marie (Sister Verita) on April 17, 1994.
Mass of Christian burial will be Friday at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville. The burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 2 and 7 PM Thursday at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
Memorials may be given for the Sacred Heart Altar Society or the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital and sent in care of the family.
Evelyn M. Haverkamp
Evelyn M. Haverkamp, 91, of Seneca, Kansas, died Saturday, April 26, 2003, at Country View Estates Care Home in Seneca. She had been a resident there since September 5, 2000.
She was born May 1, 1911, on a farm northeast of Seneca, the daughter of William and Zella Simmons Winkler. She attended Triumph School, No. 16, and graduated from Sts. Peter & Paul High School in Seneca in 1928.
On October 10, 1928, she married
George F. Haverkamp at Sts. Peter & Paul Church at Seneca. They lived and farmed northeast of Kelly for 37 years. In 1965 they retired from farming and moved into Seneca, where Evelyn started work in the City Clerk's Office for Cecil Gruetze. She then worked at Evelyn’s Café in Seneca and joined the Nemaha County Clerk’s Office in 1971. She was a secretary in the County Clerk’s Office until 1981 when she retired.
The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1978. Her husband George preceded her in death on April 18, 1982.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church where she had taught C.C.D. classes and participated in St. Ann’s Altar Society. Evelyn prepared income tax forms for others. She was a lover of flowers, gardening, and enjoyed doing ceramics. She crocheted many beautiful afghans and doilies for her family and for church auctions.
Survivors are five sons, Avitus of Wetmore, Melvin W., William, and George J., all of Seneca, and Robert of Bern; a daughter, Georgina Holthaus of Baileyville; two sisters, Millie Tanking of Seneca, Zita Becker of Hiawatha; 38 grandchildren, 91 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two grandsons, Michael Holthaus on September 14, 1966 and Wayne Haverkamp on July 5, 1981; two sisters, Rita McCasey and Bernadine Stegeman Johnson; and an infant brother.
The mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, April 28, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca on Sunday at 2 & 7 P.M.
Memorials may be given for Sts. Peter & Paul School Building Fund and sent in care of the family.
Irene J. Haverkamp
Irene J. Haverkamp, 80, of Seneca died early Wednesday morning, August 4, 2004, at Crestview Manor in Seneca.
She was born June 10, 1924, in Baileyville, the daughter of Aloy and Anna Krogman Reinecke. She attended Baileyville schools and earned her GED in 1976. Irene worked in Grand Island, NE, while her fiancé, Marcellus Haverkamp, served in the U.S. Army during World War II. When he returned, they were married
on April 24, 1946, at Sacred Heart Church, Baileyville. They farmed in the St. Benedict area and north of Seneca until 1955 when they moved to Seneca. She worked for the Starlite Motel and in the Homemaker Program for the State of Kansas Social and Rehabilitation Services. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Her husband, Marcellus, died January 23, 2003.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church, St. Ann’s Altar Society, and volunteered at the Sts. Peter & Paul Mission. Her hobbies included quilting, collecting antiques and dolls, canning, and fishing. She enjoyed summer vacations in the mountains of Colorado and Wyoming.
Survivors are a son, Eric Haverkamp of Seneca; two daughters, Mary Lee Sanders of Topeka and Jane Fields of Eagle, NE; two sisters, Josephine Altenhofen of Gardner and Angela Tangeman of Centralia; three brothers, Fritz Reinecke of Centralia, Lou Reinecke of Seneca, and Tony Reinecke of Garden Grove, CA; and seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Gene Reinecke; four sisters, Hilda Reinecke, Martha Stallbaumer, Mary Ann Reinecke, and Rose Reinecke; and a granddaughter, Robin Fields.

Kenneth R. Haverkamp
Kenneth R. Haverkamp, 85, of Corning, Kansas, died Monday, June 10, 2013 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.
Kenneth Regis Haverkamp, or "Kenny" as he was known, was born on December 25, 1927, on a farm north of Baileyville to Edward B. and Mary Feldkamp Haverkamp. He attended a country school and then Baileyville High through his sophomore year. He helped his father on the family farm until 1951 when he enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; he was discharged November 1953.
On November 19, 1953 he married
Rosanna M. Lierz at Annunciation Church in Frankfort, Kansas. For the last 60 years, the couple made their home together four miles southeast of Corning. Kenny worked at Farmer’s Union for 20 years, from 1970 to 1990. He enjoyed raising cattle and sheep, woodworking, cars, reading, fishing with his grandchildren and spending time with family.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Corning, the American Legion Arthur Mills Post #37, the Corning Knights of Columbus and the National Farmers Organization.
Besides his wife Rosanna he is survived by his children, Raphael Haverkamp of Goff, Elaine (Earl) Allison of Topeka, Regis Haverkamp of Netawaka, Teresa (Lee) Brown of Topeka, Francis (Lisa) Haverkamp of Holton, Edwin (Darla) Haverkamp of Holton, Veronica Mapes of Hoyt, Marcia (Steven) Ressequie of Holton and Rosemary Ireland of Topeka; two brothers, Cletus Haverkamp of Corning and Vernus Haverkamp of St. Benedict; a sister, Elda Stallbaumer of Seneca; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law, Asa Mapes.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM Saturday, June 15, at St. Patrick’s Church in Corning. Burial will be in the churchcemeterywith military honors. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Friday, June 14, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
Lillis L. Haverkamp
Lillis Leo Haverkamp, 81, of Seneca, KS, died Friday evening, March 2, 2012 at Crestview Manor care home in Seneca.
He was born August 30, 1930 in Seneca, to John F. and Theresa J. Olberding Haverkamp. At his birth the family lived north of St. Benedict; then in 1943, they moved a mile east of St. Benedict. He attended St. Mary’s School in St. Benedict. Lillis helped on the family farm, drove a city bus in Topeka and was a substitute driver for the Sabetha Creamery.
On January 21, 1958 he married
Arlene H. Gress at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. The couple farmed northwest of Seneca until 2008, when they moved to Seneca. Also in 2008, the couple publicly celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Lillis enjoyed being a farmer and a stockman all his life; he also enjoyed helping his brothers on their farms. His hobbies were fishing with his children when they were little, his grandchildren, playing cards, farm shows and everything about life as a farmer. Lillis was a very gentle talking, quiet man who always had time to visit with anyone.
He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, St. Joseph’s Society and the Knights of Columbus Council 1769 in Seneca. He was a past member of St. Mary’s Church in St. Benedict, where he served on the parish council. He also served on the Rural Water District No. 3 Board for six years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Kenneth Haverkamp, and an infant brother, John Henry Haverkamp.
Survivors are Arlene, his wife of 54 years, of the home; three sons, Dennis Haverkamp of Bedford Village, NY, Tom Haverkamp and his wife Mary Beth of Seneca, and Paul Haverkamp and his wife Laura of McLouth, KS; two daughters, Janet Heideman and her husband Dennis of Baileyville, and Bonnie Meeks of Paola, KS; a brother, John Haverkamp of Seneca; four sisters, Angela Devillier of St. Marys, KS, Cecilia Kohake of Sabetha, Luella Curti of Seneca and Henrietta Dressman of Baileyville; and nine grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11 AM Monday, March 5, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM on Sunday, March 4, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Luella R. Haverkamp
Luella R. Haverkamp, 87, of Seneca, Kansas, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
She was born April 21, 1915, on a farm five miles north of Seneca, the daughter of August and Theresia Menke Haverkamp. Luella graduated from St. Mary's Grade School at St. Benedict. She attended the Sacred Heart Academy in Falls City, Nebraska for two years while the family lived there, and graduated from Frankfort High School, Frankfort, Kansas. In 1937 she moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where she attended the Kansas City Business School. She was employed by Hallmark from 1938 to 1944.
During World War II and until 1952, she worked for the War Assets Administration of the U.S. Government also in Kansas City. Luella returned home for ten years to help care for her father after her mother's death. On February 21, 1962, she returned to Kansas City and worked as a cashier clerk for Phillips Petroleum. In 1974 the Kansas City Office was closed, and she was transferred by the company to Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She worked there until her retirement in May of 1984. In the fall of 1986, she moved to Seneca.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church and the St. Ann's Altar Society at the church in Seneca. In Bartlesville she helped with the her church's food distribution to the needy. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, and was a stamp collector.
Survivors are three sisters, Loretta Otting of Seneca, Cecelia Forst of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and Alma Clark of Atlanta, Georgia.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Haverkamp and two sisters, Rose Koelzer and Marcella Haug.
The mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, July 27, 2002, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be in Sacred HeartCemeteryin Baileyville. A prayer service will be offered Friday at 2 P.M., with a rosary 7 P.M. Friday, at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Marcellus H. "Sally" Haverkamp
Marcellus H. "Sally" Haverkamp, 79, of Seneca, Kansas, died Thursday, January 23, 2003, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
He was born April 1, 1923, on a farm northwest St. Benedict, Kansas, the son of Leo H. and Anna Fangman Haverkamp. He grew up there, attended St. Mary' School, and worked on the family farm.
On April 25, 1944, he entered the U.S. Army where he served in the European theater during World War II. He was a combat engineer with the 1270th Engineering C Battalion and participated in the Battle of the Bulge under the comman of General George Patton. He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, Victory Ribbon, and Good Conduct Medal, and was discharged February 22, 1946.
On April 24, 1946, he married
Irene Reinecke at Sacred Heart Church at Baileyville. They farmed north of Seneca until 1954, when they moved into Seneca. She survives of the home.
He farmed and worked at Harry Roger's sawmill in Wetmore for 20 years. He also worked at the Seneca Elevator for 25 years until he retired in 1993.
He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church and the St. Joseph Society at the church, the Knights of Columbus #1769 for over 50 years, the Earle W. Taylor Post # 21 of the American Legion, and the Seneca Memorial Post #7458 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, all at Seneca..
Survivors besides his wife, Irene, are a son, Eric Haverkamp of Seneca; two daughters, Mary Lee Sanders of Topeka and Jane Fields of Eagle, NE; a brother, Melvin Haverkamp of Seneca; three sisters, Lucille Kramer of Aurora, NE, Theresa Koch of Holton. KS, and Leanne Baker of Topeka; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother Vincent Haverkamp on October 31, 1963, and a granddaughter, Robin Fields on May 31, 1969.
The mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 27, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Burial with military honors will be in St. Mary'sCemeteryin St. Benedict. The rosary will be prayed at 2 P.M. Sunday by the Knights of Columbus and a prayer service will be conducted at 7 P.M. on Sunday at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
