Frances R. Heiman
Frances R. Heiman, 93, Baileyville, died Monday, January 03, 2005, at Life Care Center in Seneca where she had been a resident since February of 2001.
She was born November 15, 1911, on a farm a mile south of Seneca, the second youngest of nine children of Herman and Catharine Guenther Mueting. Frances attended Sts. Peter & Paul School and helped on the family farm.
On November 7, 1933, she married
Leo J. Heiman at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. They lived on their farm 3 1/2 miles north of Baileyville following their marriage. Her husband, Leo, died January 4, 1958, and Frances continued to farm with her children. In 1970 she moved into Baileyville.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville, the Altar Society at the church and the Benedictine Oblates. Frances was always a loving mother and a kind person who did a lot of volunteer work. She enjoyed playing cards and was an astute player.
Survivors are two sons, Gene Heiman and Gilbert Heiman, both of Baileyville; six daughters, Virginia Koelzer, Baileyville, Betty Lane, Albuquerque, NM, Edna Fangman, Topeka, Geraldine Beres, Clifton, VA, Thelma Bowhay, Netawaka, and Donna Broxterman, Harleysville, PA; 27 grandchildren; and 44 great grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Barbara Koelzer, on March 16, 1975; two sisters, Anna Heiman and Marie Moynagh; and six brothers, Frank, Herman, Jr., John, Fred, Leo, and Lawrence Mueting.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 A.M. Friday at Sacred Heart Church, Baileyville. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 2 and 7 P.M Thursday at the Lauer Funeral Home, where she will lie in state after 8:30 A.M. Thursday.

Janice E. Heiman
Janice E. Heiman, 59, of Baileyville, Kansas, died Sunday morning, July 13, 2008 at the Life Care Center in Seneca.
Janice was born in Axtell, Kansas on June 2, 1949, the daughter of John I. and Ethel Wietharn Rottinghaus. She attended St. Mary’s Grade School in St. Benedict and was a member of the first graduating class of B&B High School in Baileyville in 1967. After high school, she attended Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison for two years. She then moved to Topeka and was employed by Security Benefit Life Insurance Company.
She married
Gilbert L. Heiman on September 5, 1970 at St. Mary’s Church in St. Benedict. The couple made their home three miles north of Baileyville on the family farm. Upon returning to Nemaha County, Janice worked at Baileyville State Bank before becoming a homemaker and raising their three children. As their children grew, she went back to work at the Baileyville Animal Clinic in 1987 and continued there until 2001 when she retired due to health reasons.
Janice was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville, where she was a member and past-president of the St. Ann’s Altar Society. She was a self-taught artist, who loved to paint in oil. She was also an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards, sewing, and tending to her flowerbeds.
She leaves behind Gilbert, her husband of 37 years, of the home; a son Kent of Sabetha; two daughters, Julie Boeding of Wichita and Renee Heiman of Baileyville; her mother Ethel Rottinghaus of St. Benedict; four brothers, John H. and Francis "Chic" Rottinghaus, both of St. Benedict, Leroy Rottinghaus of Lee's Summit, Missouri, and Eugene Rottinghaus of Plano, Texas; three sisters, Mary Jane Hammes of Seneca, Rita Buessing of Axtell, and Joann Rottinghaus of Olathe; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and two infant sisters, Mary and RoseAnn.
Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM on Tuesday, July 15, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 AM Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville, with burial in the church cemetery.

Josephine W. Heiman
Josephine W. Heiman, 94, of St. Benedict, Kansas, died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at Crestview Manor in Seneca, Kansas. She had been a resident there since November 11, 1993.
She was born January 17, 1909, on a farm southeast of Kelly, Kansas, the daughter of Bernard and Elizabeth Sextro Buessing. When she was six years old, the family moved to a farm southwest of Lillis, Kansas, where she started school. Later the family moved to a farm southwest of Baileyville, Kansas, where she also attended school. She helped on the family farm and as a young woman did domestic work in several homes in Seneca.
On November 27, 1929, she married
Frank T. Heiman at Sacred Heart Church at Baileyville. They lived on the Henry Heiman homestead northeast of St. Benedict until 1971 when they moved into St. Benedict. Her husband, Frank, died May 31, 1975.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church and St. Ann's Altar Society at the church at St. Benedict. Josephine was a talented seamstress and taught all her daughters to sew. She also enjoyed crocheting, other needlework, flowers and gardening.
Survivors are two sons, Frank J. Heiman and Lambert Heiman, both of Seneca; seven daughters, Jo Ann Lierz, Loyola Sudbeck, and Carol Lohmann, all of Seneca, Henrietta Quaney of Burlingame, KS, Rose Mary McKay of Excelsior Springs, MO, Grace Rottinghaus of Lee's Summit, MO, Ellen Westerhaus of Junction City, KS; a brother, Leo Buessing of Axtell, KS; a sister Mary Skoch of Seneca; 37 grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren; and a great great grandchild.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph on January 11, 1952; three grandsons, Kurt Rottinghaus, Roger Quaney and Gerard Lierz; two granddaughters, Alice and Ruth Quaney; six brothers, Fredolin, August, Andrew, Henry, Sylvester, and Alfred Buessing; and three sisters, Rose Kramer, Lena Broxterman, Teresa Dowell.
The mass of Christian burial will be 1:30 P.M. Saturday, March 29, at St. Mary's Church at St. Benedict. The burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at the Lauer Funeral Home on Friday at 2 P.M. and 8 P.M.

Regis L. Heiman
Regis Leo Heiman, 82, Seneca, formally of Topeka died November 20, 2014 at Crestview Nursing and Residential Living in Seneca.
Regis was born October 2, 1932, on a farm near St. Benedict, Kansas to Edward and Bertha Lierz Heiman. He attended St Mary’s Catholic School in St. Benedict. During his youth Regis helped his father on the family farm. Regis served in the National Guard with a rank of SP2, from February 22, 1956 to July 1, 1957; he was assigned to Battery “A” 154th FA Bn his home station was in Sabetha.
Regis married
Evelyn Koelzer on May 1, 1954 at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville. The couple made their home in Lincoln, Nebraska for a short time before moving to Axtell, Kansas. The couple later moved to and farmed the Fannie Rice Farm north of Seneca; before purchasing a farm in 1964 in Onaga, Kansas. The couple raised their family and had a Dairy Farm at that location until 1977. Regis was commuting to work in Topeka; consequently in 1981 the couple moved to Topeka. Regis retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company Plant in Topeka after 27 years of employment.
Regis was a member of Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church in Topeka. He was a member of the American Legion Post #400, the Knights of Columbus #2608 and a member Knights of Columbus State Third Degree Team.
Regis was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn on December 22, 2001: and his siblings, Kenneth, John, Eddie and ordained Brother Robert O.S.B. He is survived by his children, Rick (Patty) Heiman of Burbank, Washington, Gary (Jeanette) Heiman of Seneca, Allen (Linda) Heiman of Smith Center, Kevin (Dawn) Heiman of Olathe and Cathy Heiman of Lee Summit; his siblings, Donald Heiman of Kansas City, Paul Heiman of Parachute, Colorado, Tom Heiman of Wichita and Mary Joe (Pat) Hughes of Lee Summit, Missouri; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Rosaries will be prayed at Lauer Funeral Home on Sunday, November 23rd at 2 & 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, November 24, 2014 at 11 AM at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will be Tuesday, November 25th at 1 PM in Mount CalvaryCemeteryin Topeka, with full military honors.

Theresa C. Heiman
Theresa C. Heiman, 78, Baileyville, died Monday, December 6, 2004, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca. She was transferred there from Life Care Center in Seneca where she had been a resident since November of 2000.
She was born September 11, 1926, on a farm north of Seneca, the daughter of Henry J. and Josephine Waller Nordhus. Her mother died when she was three years old. Her sister, Margaret, helped care for the family. She graduated from Sts. Peter & Paul High School.
On September 11, 1947, she married
Leonard H. Heiman at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. They lived and farmed east of Baileyville. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1998.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Church at Baileyville and the Altar Society at the church. Theresa enjoyed painting scenery, poetry, needlework, and crocheting.
Survivors are three sons Ronald of Topeka, and Howard and Brent, both of Baileyville; three daughters, Janet Koelzer of Seneca, Karen Scott of Topeka, and Linda Summers of Lincoln, NE; two brothers, Sylvester “Pat” Nordhus and John Nordhus, both of Seneca; three sisters, Margaret Stallbaumer and Mary Macke, both of Seneca, and Rita Keith of Shawnee Mission;15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, twin girls.
Besides her husband, and her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Celestine who died at birth, May 14, 1930.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 A.M. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church at Baileyville. The burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 2 and 7 P.M. Wednesday at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca, where she will lie in state after 8:30 A.M. Wednesday.

Anna G. Heinen
Anna G. Heinen, 88, of Seneca, Kansas, died Sunday, December 24, 2000, at Crestview Manor Care Home in Seneca. She had been a resident there since June of this year.
She was born May 16, 1912, on a farm east of Kelly, Kansas, the daughter of Anton and Gertrude Lierz Kohake. She attended Maple Shade Country School and St. Bede's School and helped on the family farm. Anna's mother died when she was 16 and Anna, the oldest and only girl, helped care for and raise her seven brothers.
On April 8, 1931, she married
Lambert Heinen at St. Bede's Church at Kelly. They lived and farmed northeast of Kelly until February of 1967 when they moved to Seneca. Her husband, Lambert died on February 1, 1968. Anna then worked as a cook at Crestview Manor in Seneca from 1970 until 1979.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church and St. Ann's Altar Society, and the Quilting Group all at Seneca.
Survivors are four sons, Donald Heinen of Kennewick, Washington, Melvin Heinen of Seneca, Verness Heinen of Tonganoxie, Kansas, and Mark Heinen of Basehor, Kansas; a daughter, Lola Otting of Bonner Springs, Kansas; a brother, John Kohake of Shawnee, Kansas; 24 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Heinen on September 13, 1998, a granddaughter Cindy Heinen on May 4, 1984, and six brothers, Ernest Kohake, Carl Kohake, Anthony Kohake, Cyril Kohake, George Kohake, and Albert Kohake.
The mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at the Lauer Funeral Home on Tuesday at 2 P.M. by St. Ann's Altar Society. A vigil prayer service will be held at 7 P.M. Tuesday by the parish.

Aurelia M. Heinen
Aurelia M. Heinen, 88, of Kelly died Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.
Aurelia was born, a twin, on July 17, 1925 on a farm north of Seneca the daughter of Jacob J. and Wilhelmena C. Rottinghaus Rennenger. Aurelia and her twin, Mary, were always very close. She attended from St. Mary’s Grade School in St. Benedict and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1943. She was employed by the chicken factory in Goff until 1945.
On January 30, 1945, she married
Raymond C. Heinen at St. Mary’s Church in St. Benedict. Aurelia was a dedicated farmers’ wife; and the couple made their home east of Kelly, where they raised their family and farmed. They were married
61 years when Raymond passed away on June 15, 2006.
She was a member of St. Bede’s Church in Kelly, the Altar Society as a past-president, a past CCD teacher, and was instrumental in organizing the annual Kelly Soup Supper. Aurelia was very devoted to praying the Rosary. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, cooking and baking and reading. She belonged to several card groups.
Besides her husband Raymond, she was preceded in death by; a son, Joseph on June 2, 1952; sisters, Bernadine Sedlacek and Elizabeth; and a brother, Wilfred.
Survivors are her; four sons, Richard (Katie) Heinen of Wetmore, Gene Heinen of Seneca, Wayne (Linda) Heinen of Goff and Elwyn (Mary) Heinen of Hughson, California; two daughters, Shirley (Don) Schurman of Seneca and Marilyn (Randy) Tiegreen of Overland Park; sisters, Rosie Niehues, Mary Niehues and Alice Sedlacek all of Seneca; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Rosaries will be prayed at Lauer Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 2 and 8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bede’s on April 16, 2014 at 10 AM. Burial will be at St. Bede’sCemeteryin Kelly.
