William L. "Bill" Krogman
William L. “Bill” Krogman, 43, Seneca, died Tuesday, February 7, 2006, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka from sudden complications of diabetes.
He was born March 1, 1962, at Seneca, the son of Leonard and Clara Deters Krogman. Bill attended school at B & B and graduated in 1980. He farmed with his father west of St. Benedict and has been employed by Nemaha County in the Road and Bridge Department for 20 years.
On November 7, 1992, he was married
to Ronda Anderson. They were later divorced.
The joy of Bill’s life was his daughter, Brie of the home. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.
Survivors besides his daughter are his parents, Leonard and Clara Krogman of Baileyville, a sister, Janice Koch of Axtell, and two step-daughters, Candi Singley of Fernley, NV and Starr Anderson of Fortworth, TX
He was preceded in death by a three year old brother, Jimmy.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 AM Friday, February 10, at St. Mary’s Church in St. Benedict. The burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosary will be prayed on Thursday at 2 and 7 PM at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca

Mary A. Kuckelman
Mary A. Kuckelman, 87, Seneca, KS, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at Crestview Manor care home in Seneca.
She was born December 7, 1915, at St. Bridget, KS, the daughter of Michael and Anna McNamara Carroll. When she was left an orphan at 5 years of age, she was first raised by her Aunt Sarah Carroll McGrath. When she was 16 years old, her aunt died and she went to live with her first cousin, Bill and Teresa McGrath Mc Bride. She attended St. Bridge Grade School and high school at Axtell and Marysville, KS. She graduated from Marysville High School in 1932.
On October 12, 1933, she married
Herman Kuckelman at Sacred Heart Church in Atchison. They lived, farmed, and raised livestock on the Carroll homestead, Mary’s grandparents’ home, northeast of the St. Bridget Community for 43 years. In the fall of 1976 they retired and moved to Seneca. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1983. Her husband, Herman, preceded her in death on April 19, 1987. She had been a resident at Crestview Manor care home since February 1996.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church and St. Ann’s Altar Society at the church in Seneca, and a former member of St. Bridget where she was president of the Altar Society and sang in the choir.
She loved gardening, was a good cook, and enjoyed crocheting and playing cards with her family and friends.
Survivors are two sons, Bill Kuckelman, Baileyville, KS, Jody Kuckelman, Axtell; three daughters, Carolyn Mulryan, Albuquerque, NM, Sara Kramer, Newton, KS, Alice Hammes, Baileyville; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and a great-great granddaughter. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two grandsons, James Kuckelman on October 26, 1969, and Roger Hammes on March 22, 1987, and a great-grandchild, Lexi Kramer on March 13, 1992.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, June 11, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed on Tuesday at 2 & 8 P.M. at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca where she will lie in state after 2 P.M. Monday.
Memorials may be given for the Activity Fund at Crestview and sent in care of the family.
Thomas G. Kuckelman
Thomas G. Kuckelman, 69, of Seneca, Kansas, died early Friday, June 8, 2012 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
He was born on April 19, 1943 to Frank and Josephine Smutny Kuckelman, Sr. He attended Sts. Peter & Paul School, graduating from high school in 1961. He attended Washburn University. As a young man he worked for area farmers. He entered the military in 1968, serving in the Air Force Reserves, and was stationed at Rosecrans Air National Guard Base in St. Joseph, Missouri.
He married
Judy Ann Sedlacek on November 14, 1970 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca.
Tom sold real estate with his father, Frank Sr.; he also farmed and raised cattle.
He enjoyed driving the countryside, going to auctions and collecting coins and antiques. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca and St. Joseph’s Society at the church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Henry Sr. on July 27, 1987; and his mother, Josephine Mary on December 3, 1989.
Tom is survived by Judy, his wife of 41 years; his children, Jill Ann (Jason) Hammes of Seneca, Dana Ann (Brad) Bassett of Dover, Kansas and Adam Germain (Julie) Kuckelman of Seneca; his brother, Frank Kuckelman, Jr. of Seneca; two sisters, Jane Dorn of Seneca and Ann Cobb of Oskaloosa; and five grandchildren, Ashley Hammes, William Bassett, Isabelle Hammes, Oliva Bassett and Hudson Kuckelman.
Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Sunday, June 10, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 AM Monday, June 11, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. NOTE: The church is undergoing remodeling, so use east or west side door instead of main entrance. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Irene E. Kuhlman
Irene E. Kuhlman, 88, of Seneca, Kansas, died Saturday, March 2, 2002, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca. She had been a patient there since February 25.
She was born January 9, 1914, in Coleridge, Nebraska, the daughter of John G. and Anna M. Frerichs Vock. She grew up and attended school in Coleridge. After her schooling, she worked at the Farmer's Union Store in Coleridge. Later she worked at the Tate Lechner home, caring for his children after his wife died. She met her husband at this time.
On May 25, 1937, she married
Louis A. Kuhlman at St. Bede's Church at Kelly. They lived and farmed east of Kelly. Irene also worked for Dr. Jerome Hermes cleaning his office. In 1966 they moved into Seneca. She was employed at the Cedars Motel a number of years cleaning rooms. Her husband, Louis died July 7, 1976. She was also preceded in death by a son, Marvin Kuhlman on June 26, 1959. She worked for Victor and Catherine Buser at their home for several years helping to care for Victor during his illness.
She was a member of Sts Peter & Paul Church, St. Ann's Altar Society, and the Quilting Group at the church in Seneca, and a former member of St. Bede's Church and the Altar Society at the church.
Survivors are two sons, William J. Kuhlman of Seneca and John A. Kuhlman of Topeka; a brother, Duane Vock of Shawnee, Kansas; two sisters, Erma Puppe and Marlene Anderson both of Coleridge, Nebraska; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and son, she was preceded in death by two sisters Lena Anderson and Dorothy Anderson, and a brother, Clarence Vock.
The mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be in St. Bede'sCemeteryat Kelly. The rosary will be prayed at 2 P.M. Monday and a vigil prayer service will be conducted at 7 P.M. Monday at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. She will lie in state at the Funeral Home after 4 P.M. Sunday.

David M. Lackey
David M. Lackey, 16, of Seneca, KS, died Friday, October 3, 2003, at the scene of a car accident north of Seneca.
He was born February 5, 1987, at Seneca, the son of Galen and Marilyn Kramer Lackey. David grew up in Seneca and graduated from Sts. Peter & Paul Grade School in 2001. He was a junior at the Nemaha Valley High School in Seneca where he played tight end and line backer on the football team. He had caught his first touchdown pass earlier in the evening in a game against Hiawatha before being lost to a car accident. In school he liked computers and shop. During the summer he played baseball and helped coach the Seneca youth football. He also enjoyed playing golf.
He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church, and a former member of Troop # 71 of the Boy Scouts of America with the 1st class badge.
Survivors besides his parents are a brother, Brad Lackey of Lenexa, KS; two sisters Jennifer and Sara both at Manhattan attending Kansas State University; his grandmother, Alma Kramer, Goff, KS; aunts, uncles, cousins and many other relatives.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M. Monday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at Lauer Funeral Home on Sunday at 2 P.M, with a prayer service at 7 P.M. Friends may call at the funeral home after 8:30 A.M. Sunday.

Evelyn L. Lackey
Evelyn L. Fangman Lackey, 90, of Seneca, Kansas, died late Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at the Sabetha Hospital.
She was born July 2, 1912, on a farm south of Seneca, Kansas, the daughter of Bernard and Anna Schafer Runnebaum. Later the family moved to a farm south of Lillis, Kansas, where Evelyn began school. They also lived in Frankfort and northwest of Axtell, Kansas, where she attended St. Michael’s High School. Following high school, she did domestic work and worked at the Gilford Hotel in Seneca.
On February 12, 1934, she married
Edmund Fangman at St. Bridget Church northwest of Axtell, Kansas. They lived on a farm southeast of Summerfield. Her husband, Edmund, died suddenly of a heart attack while playing baseball on June 9, 1952. Evelyn moved into Baileyville where she was the supervisor of the school lunch program for six years. She moved to Seneca where she owned and operated Evelyn’s Café on Main Street from 1958 to 1972. After selling the café, Evelyn did childcare for several families in Seneca.
On June 14, 1962 she married
Vincent Lackey at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. He died July 19, 1972.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church and St. Ann’s Altar Society at the church. She was a quilter and made many quilts for the church at Summerfield and Seneca as well as for her family. She was a member and past president of the Seneca Business and Professional Women’s Club in Seneca where she held several offices.
Survivors are a son, Eugene E. Fangman of Seneca, two daughters, Ardys A. Kussman and Mary E. Eisenbarth, both of Lenexa, Kansas; a stepson, Elmer Lackey of Seneca; four stepdaughters, Arlene Prine of Twin Falls, ID, Marilyn Koch of Baileyville, Kathleen Deters of Seneca, and Marceil Singer of Shawnee, KS; two brothers, Bernard Runnebaum of Marysville and Galen Runnebaum of Axtell; three sisters, Meletta Marconett of Alamo, TX, Edna Jensen of Minneapolis, MN, and Shirley Deters of Ozawkie, KS; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by three stepsons, Norman Lackey, Duane Lackey, and Galen Lackey; four step-grandchildren, Bradley Koch, Janice Lackey, Kenneth Lackey, and Ronald Duryea; and two brothers, Vincent and Ralph Runnebaum.
The mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be in St. Bridget’sCemeterynorthwest of Axtell. The rosary will be prayed at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca at 7 P.M. Friday. She will lie in state at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca after 8:30 A.M. Friday.

Galen C. Lackey
Galen C. Lackey, 63, of Seneca, Kansas, died on Monday, December 17, 2012 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
Galen was born on June 24, 1949, on the family farm north of Seneca to Cletus and Anna Schroeder Lackey. He attended Sts. Peter & Paul High School and graduated with the class of 1967.
He married
Marilyn Kramer on May 11, 1974 at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly. The couple lived in Topeka for five years before returning to Seneca. They celebrated 38 years of marriage.
Galen was employed by J-Six Farms and Koelzer Lumber and Seneca Ready Mix before retiring in 2004.
He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn; a son, Brad (Gretchen) Lackey of Kansas City, Kansas; two daughters, Jennifer Lackey of Austin, Texas and Sara (Chris) McMullen of Hiawatha; his mother-in-law, Alma Kramer of Goff, Kansas; his siblings, Richard Lackey of Topeka, Rosalee Chance of Olathe, Tom Lackey of Topeka, Stephen Lackey of Topeka, Larry Lackey of Seneca and Sharon Posner of Pensacola, Florida; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, David on October 3, 2003; his parents; and his brother Donald Lackey.
Mass of a Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM Thursday, December 20, at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly. Burial will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Cemetery. A rosary will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Wednesday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
