Vera Lizzol
Vera Lizzol, 80, Seneca, died Monday, June 26, 2006, at Crestview Manor care home, in Seneca.
She was born August 19, 1925, in New York City, the daughter of William and Emilia Mazurkiewicz Wakuluk. She grew up in Manhattan and attended public schools there. Later the family moved to the Bronx. Vera learned to speak Russian from her family, her father being Russian and her mother Polish.
On October 26, 1946, she married
Steven Lizzol in the Bronx. They lived there for 15 years before moving to Queens. In April of 1980, they moved to Seneca. Her husband died July 26, 1984. They had a long and wonderful marriage and were very proud of their sons.
A son, Steven Lizzol, Jr., preceded her in death on February 18, 2002.
For several years, Vera worked with Bea Lechner at her day care center in Seneca, where she enjoyed helping with children. Vera was known as a friendly, cheerful person.
She was a member of the Seneca Memorial Post #7458 of the VFW Auxiliary. She was a former member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in the Bronx. Vera loved to bowl, play bingo, and enjoyed going to the casinos.
She is survived by a son, Matthew of Fort Dodge, IA; a daughter-in-law, Deanna “Dee” Lizzol of Seneca; a brother, Willliam Wakuluk of Lake Ariel, PA; and 5 grandchildren.
Besides her husband and son, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen and Olga.
A visitation will be held from 7 to 8 PM Wednesday, June 28, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Funeral service will be 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Seneca City Cemetery.
Memorials may be given for a fund to be designated later, and sent in care of the family.
Anna L. Lohmann
Anna Lorena Lohmann, 97, of Albuquerque, NM, formerly of Seneca, KS, died on September 18, 2007 at the Lovelace Downtown Hospital in Albuquerque.
Anna was born on February 2, 1910 at Oneida, KS, the daughter of Carl Frederick and Ruby Edwards Boltz. She grew up in Bern and attended the Bern School.
On August 16, 1931, she married
Albert H. Lohmann at Sabetha, KS. They lived in the Seneca area and during that time they built and operated the Log Cabin Cafe and gas station on Highway 36 in Seneca, with her husband’s brother, Ralph. The Log Cabin Cafe continues to this day as a local landmark and institution for morning coffee drinkers. In the 1940s Anna moved with her husband to Portland, OR; they later returned to Seneca. In 1948 they moved to Garden City, KS where Anna was hired by JC Penny Company. In 1958, JC Penmy transferred her to Albuquerque, NM where she retired after 21 years of employment wih the company. She spent another 13 years in retail.
Her husband, Albert, preceded her in death on May 12, 1967.
Anna was a member of the Community Church in Garden City, KS. She loved to garden and care for her home.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean Gilliard of Seal Beach, CA; a grandson, Charles A Gilliard II; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Vernon Boltz of Milford, KS; and three sisters, Ruby Lundy of Leavenworth, KS, Mavis Gilmore and Mary Wagner, both of Denton, TX.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, Albert Boltz, Clara Poland, Carl Boltz, Robert Boltz, Alice Davis, Lee Moore, Raymond Boltz, and Perry Boltz.
A graveside service conducted by Lauer Funeral Home will be held at the Seneca CityCemeteryat 3 PM on Friday, September 21.
Edna Mae "Eddy" Love
Edna “Eddy” Mae Love, 80, of Seneca, died, Friday, November 22, 2013, at Crestview Manor Nursing and Residential Living in Seneca.
She was born east of St. Benedict, Kansas on February 5, 1933, the youngest child of Bernard J. and Pauline Runnebaum Osterhaus. Eddy graduated from 8th grade at Rock School, and then attended St. Mary’s High School in St. Benedict and graduated in 1951. She began working at the Gilford Hotel in 1952, where she worked until 1955.
On June 8, 1955 she married
Harold “Joe” Love at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict. The couple made their home in Seneca where they raised four children and celebrated 54 years of marriage; before Joe’s death on October 20, 2009.
Eddy helped her husband with his construction business, Love and Osterhaus Builders, by hanging wallpaper and getting the houses ready for its new owners. After her youngest started school she worked a few years for the Northside & Vicker Gas Restaurant Station and Linda Motel in Seneca; before taking a job with the Seneca Free Library. She worked at the Seneca Free Library for 36 years, retiring in 2009.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Altar Society, VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Women's Auxiliary all in Seneca. Her greatest love was her family and grandchildren. She loved doing ceramics and wood crafts. She was a devoted Catholic, praying the Rosary many times a day.
Besides her husband, Eddy was preceded in death by her father, Bernard on March 4, 1983; her mother, Pauline on September 6, 1975; a granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Love on November 28, 1986; a great-granddaughter, Hanna Elizabeth Love on December 28, 2003; two sisters, Bernice Rettele on May 26, 2007 and Lucille Winkler on June 14, 2013; and two brothers, Leonard Osterhaus on April 16, 1958 and Gilbert Osterhaus on February 21, 2012.
She is survived by sons, William (Sara) Love and Gary (Eileen) Love both of Seneca; daughters, Jill (Mark) Boyce of Valley Falls and Janet (Michael) Bradley of Leawood; a sister, Edith Kongs of Manhattan; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Rosaries will be prayed on Sunday, November 24th at 2 & 7 PM at Lauer Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM on Monday, November 25th at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca, followed by burial in the Sts. Peter and PaulCemeteryin Seneca.
Memorial Contributions may be left in Eddy’s memory to the Sts. Peter and Paul School.
Amber D. Luckeroth
Amber D. Luckeroth, 30, of Centralia, KS, died Thursday, March 29, 2007 at a Leavenworth hospital.
She was born in Marysville, KS, on June 4, 1976 to Dean and Terri Busch Luckeroth. She attended Marysville Grade School, and Centralia Junior High and High School. Amber also attended Crum’s Beauty School in Manhattan, KS. In 1985 she married
Darrin Bergman; they later divorced. On August 21, 1997, she married
Tom Garber in Seneca; Tom preceded her in death on August 3, 2000.
Amber worked for Eastridge Nursing Home in Centralia; she later worked as a hostess in a coffee shop in Kansas City. Amber loved to decorate and was very talented at arranging anything. She loved her children and family
Besides her parents, of Centralia, she is survived by her son Brendon Bergman of Baileyville; her daughter Arian Luckeroth of Centralia; three brothers, Anthony Luckeroth of Peoria, AZ, and Joe and Isaiah Luckeroth, both of Centralia; a sister, Patricia Luckeroth, of Centralia; and her grandparents Don and Pat Luckeroth of Seneca.
A prayer service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, April 1, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca, with a rosary at 7 PM that evening. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 AM on Monday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will be at St. Bede’sCemeteryin Kelly.

Janice K. "Jan" Lueb
Janice K. “Jan” Lueb, 67, of Seneca, Kansas died Sunday, June 9, 2013 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
She was born on March 18, 1946 in Seneca to Vincent and Dorothy Feldkamp Haverkamp. She attended Sts. Peter & Paul School, graduating in 1964. In 1964, she went to work for the Friendly Diner and then for Fritz Holthaus’s jewelry store. In 1967, she was hired by the Seneca Hospital, which later became Nemaha Valley Community Hospital, where she worked for 46 years, currently as the Human Resources Coordinator.
On May 8, 1965 she married
Edward T. Lueb at St. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The couple celebrated 48 years of marriage.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, St Ann’s Altar Society, Red Hats, BWC (Business Women Club), the Dirty Dozen card group, all in Seneca, and the Kansas Hospital Association. She enjoyed dancing, camping and playing cards.
She is survived by her husband Edward of the home; three children, Thomas Lueb of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Tamara (Christopher) Bradley of Shawnee, Kansas and Michael Lueb of Lawrence, Kansas; five grandchildren, Kaymee Phillips, Lincoln Bradley, Davis Bradley, Grace Bradley and Bridget Lueb; and a great-grandchild, Tate Phillips; her mother, Dorothy Haverkamp; and siblings, Leonard Haverkamp of Ellsworth, Kansas, Glen “Butch” Haverkamp of Tecumseh, Kansas, Donna Holthaus of Seneca and Mary Beth Duryea of Solomon, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her father Vincent Haverkamp on October 31, 1963.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 AM, Friday, June 14, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM on Thursday, June 13, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Roberta J. Lueb
Roberta J. Lueb, 74, formerly of Seneca, died Wednesday evening, February 25, 2004, at the Benedictine Sister’s Dooley Center in Atchison, KS.
She was born in Seneca on January 4, 1930, the oldest daughter of Paul and Helen Wilson Lueb. Her mother died when she was 10 years old, and Roberta took on the responsibility of assisting in the care of her younger siblings until they went to live with their aunt, Anna M. Lueb, who was like a mother to them. She graduated from Sts. Peter & Paul High School in Seneca in 1947, and then worked for Security Benefit Association in Topeka, before returning to Seneca to care for the aunt who raised her. She was employed for over 40 years at Paramount Cleaners in Seneca. She also did sewing and alterations for many people. She loved to sew and make clothing, especially for her nieces and nephews.
She moved to the Dooley Center in June 2002 due to poor health. Roberta was a caring and generous person, who endeared herself to the staff and other residents of the center.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church, St. Ann’s Altar Society, the prayer group, and the LCBA. She also served as a Eucharistic minister, on the parish council at the church, and as an officer for the Sts. Peter & Paul High School Alumni Association. Other memberships include the Seneca Memorial Post #7458 of the VFW Auxiliary and the Harmony Homemakers HDU.
Survivors are two sisters, Alice Cameron and husband, Alan, of Topeka and Sr. Mary Frederick Lueb, O.S.B., of Atchison; five nephews, Michael, Timothy and wife Sandy, Kirby and wife Tammy, and David Cameron, all of Topeka; and Kevin and wife Amanda, of Rockwell, TX; two nieces, Patti Cameron Hall and Libby Cameron Hermanson and husband Jimmy, of Topeka; five great nephews; and three great nieces.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James F. Lueb and a niece, Anne Cameron Bartron.
The mass of Christian burial will be 11 A.M. Saturday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca on Friday at 2 P.M. by St. Ann’s Altar Society and the LCBA and the Benedictine Sisters will lead a prayer service at 5 P.M. The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 P.M.

Ursula M. Lueger
Ursula M. Lueger, 102, of Seneca, Kansas, died late Tuesday evening, February 4, 2003, at Country View Estates Care Home in Seneca. She had been a resident there since November of 1998.
She was born January 8, 1901, on a farm east of St. Benedict, the daughter of John B. and Philomina Koelzer Haug. She attended St. Mary's School at St. Benedict and helped on the family farm.
She was married
to Aloysius Lueger. She lived in Seneca for many years, and had worked at the Axtell Hospital and also at the Seneca Hospital for several years. She also took care of people in their homes. She preceded in death by a son Alvin Lueger on December 5, 1999, and a daughter Evelyn Ronnebaum on November 27, 1996.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church, the St. Ann's Altar Society at the church, and a volunteer at the Mission Center in Seneca.
Survivors are a brother, Melvin Haug of Seneca; two sisters, Clara Meyer of Baileyville and Armella Schmits of Seneca; 17 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers Aloysius, Ambrose, Peter, and Lawrence Haug.
The mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be in St. Mary'sCemeteryat St. Benedict, Kansas. The rosary will be prayed at 2 P.M. and a prayer service will be conducted at 7 P.M. Friday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. She will lie in state at the funeral home after 8:30 A.M. Friday.
