Jason L. Nolte
Jason Lee Nolte, 31, of Denver, Colorado, formerly of Seneca, Kansas was killed on Saturday, June 21, 2014, while at work at Manko Window Systems, in Aurora, Colorado.
Jason was born March 5, 1983 in Seneca the son of Robert and Kathleen Nordhus Nolte.
Jason grew up in Seneca and attended Sts. Peter and Paul Grade School; in 1995, the family moved to White Cloud and he attended Highland High School, graduating in 2001. For a couple of years Jason worked for Fairview Mills; before he began his college career at Kansas State University. While in Manhattan he worked for Manko Window Systems. Jason then went to work for Swims and Sweeps in Topeka for two years, before returning to Manko Window Systems. Last March, he was transferred to Aurora, Colorado and was the Production Manager at the plant in Colorado.
Jason was an avid KSU fan and enjoyed all sports, he liked to hunt and fish and anything with the outdoors.
Jason was preceded in death by his grandfather, Cletus Nolte on January 13, 1976.
Jason is survived by his fiancée, Lindsay Biggs of Aurora, Colorado; his parents, Robert and Kathleen Nolte of Seneca; his brothers, Ryan (Andrea) Nolte of Topeka, Eric Nolte of Fremont, NE, Craig Nolte of Seneca and Cory Nolte of Seneca; a niece and a nephew, Chance and Macy; grandparents, John and Bernice Haug Nordhus of Seneca and Alfred and Darlene Stallbaumer Nolte Roeder of Seneca.
Rosaries will be prayed at 2 and 7 PM, Friday, June 27, 2014 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 AM on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials in Jason's memory may be given to St. Peter and Paul School, and sent in care of the family.
Rosemary Nolte
Mary R. "Rosemary" Nolte, 83, of Seneca, Kansas, died Monday, July 8, 2002, at Country View Estate in Seneca. She had been a resident there since September 30, 1997, when she suffered a stroke.
She was born May 12, 1919, on a farm east of Baileyville, the daughter of Henry F. and Elizabeth A. Dick Kramer. She grew up there and attended Sacred Heart School at Baileyville. She worked in the home of Frank and Ida Strathman where she met her husband "Jody."
On June 21, 1939, she married
H.A. Joseph "Jody" Nolte at St. Malachy's Church at Beattie, Kansas. They lived in Hiawatha, Kansas, before moving to Seneca in September of 1940. She was a homemaker for many years before working at Dairy Land Drive In. She and her husband owned and operated the Main Street Drive-In at Seneca from 1964 to 1977. During the winter months, they resided in South Padre Island, Texas. Her husband, Jody, died July 12, 1992.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church, St. Ann's Altar Society, and active in the quilting group at the church. She was a member of the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital Guild, also at Seneca. Her hobbies included her handwork, playing cards, and traveling.
Survivors are two sons, Joseph H. Nolte of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Ted Nolte of Emporia, Kansas; two daughters, Janice Dodds of Gardner, Kansas and Joyce Rusche of Baileyville, Kansas; four brothers, John Kramer and Donald Kramer both of Goff, Kansas, LeRoy Kramer of Pocatello, Idaho, James Kramer of Grand Junction, Colorado, a sister, Betty Boeding of Grandview, Missouri; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Eugene Nolte, on May 24, 1943, and two grandchildren, Julie Ann Dodds on July 23, 1965, and Daniel Nolte on June 19, 1987.
The mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church. The burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 2 P.M. and a prayer service will be conducted at 7 P.M. Wednesday at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
Memorials may be given for the Seneca Free Library or Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery, and sent in care of the family.
Sylvester J. "Whitey" Nolte
Sylvester J. "Whitey" Nolte, 82, of Baileyville, Kansas, died Sunday, December 8, 2002, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca, Kansas.
He was born November 28, 1920, on a farm southwest of Seneca, the son of Aloysius and Mary Krogman Nolte. He attended Sts. Peter & Paul School at Seneca and helped on the family farm. As a young man, he went to Pocahontas, Iowa, with his brothers Ed and Charles and worked on farms for several years. On August 29, 1942, during World War II, he entered the US Army where he served with the 246th Field Artillery Battalion as a cannoneer in the Pacific theater. He was discharged on February 14, 1946.
On February 11, 1950 he married
Genevieve A. "Genny" Schmitz at St. Mary's Church at St. Benedict. He farmed south of Baileyville where they lived until 1966 when their home burned down. They moved to a farm west of Baileyville where he farmed and operated a dairy. In 1966 he also began work at the Nemaha County Co-op at Baileyville until his retirement in November of 1985. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in February of 2000. In October of 2000 due to health problems, he entered Country View Estates Care Home at Seneca. His wife "Genny" preceded him in death on February 15, 2002.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church at Baileyville and the American Legion Post #214 for over 50 years at Axtell. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus at Axtell. He liked everything to do with farming and especially feeding calves. Whitey was a friendly man who enjoyed playing cards with his friends.
Survivors are four sons, Dan Nolte of Burrton, Kansas, Don Nolte of Beattie, Tom Nolte of Sabetha, KS, Jerry Nolte of Seneca; two daughters, Caroline Kramer of Axtell and Melanie Lierz of Seneca; a brother, Regis Nolte of Topeka; two sisters, Marie Mulroy of Holton and Virginia Huggins of Sabetha; 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stacey Nolte on October 23, 1973; three brothers, Cyril, Edwin, and Charles; two sisters, Loretta Niekamp and Lucille Feger.
The mass of Christian burial will be 11 A.M. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville. The burial will be in the churchcemeterywith military honors by the Axtel American Legion. The rosary will be prayed at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca on Tuesday at 2 and 7 P.M.

Sylvester W. "Pat" Nordus
Sylvester W. "Pat" Nordhus, 93, of Seneca, KS, died Monday, June 14, 2010 at Crestview Manor care home in Seneca.
He was born December 12, 1916, on a farm northeast of Seneca, the son of Henry J. and Josephine (Waller) Nordhus. He attended Sts. Peter & Paul School and helped on the family farm. He entered the U.S. Army on August 18, 1942, and served with Army Air Corps in the 390th Bombardment Group n England, loading bombers and fighter. He worked as a toxic gas handler; attaching chemical bombs to planes, preparing smoke bombs, sky markers, and incendiary bombs to be dropped from the planes. He served 30 months in the European Theater of Operation. After discharge, he returned to Nemaha County and resumed work on the family farm.
He was married
on February 26, 1949, to Rose Ann Reinecke at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville. They farmed west of Seneca for two years and in September of 1951 moved to the Nordhus Homestead northeast of Seneca. Pat was a farmer and a stockman. In May of 1975 he retired from farming and moved into Seneca. He and Rose Ann operated the Funny Farm Restaurant and miniature golf course for George Gudenkauf for one and a half years, and worked for Schendel Pest Control for five years. In addition, he worked in maintenance for the Seneca Housing Authority until his retirement in November of 1994.
He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church, the St. Joseph Society, the Knights of Columbus #1769 for over 50 years, and the Earle W. Taylor Post #21 of the American Legion, all in Seneca. Pat enjoyed fishing and playing horse shoes. He bowled in the league at the Knights of Columbus for many years.
Survivors are his wife, Rose Ann Nordhus of the home; two sons, Martin (Terry) Nordhus and Steve (Bonnie) Nordhus, both of Seneca; three daughters, Sylvia (Robert) Hildebrand of Kansas City, MO, Tina (Ken) Strathman and Geriann (Gary) Melcher, both of Seneca; a brother, John Nordhus of Seneca; two sisters, Mary Macke of Seneca and Rita Keith of Kansas City, MO; 18 grandchildren and 20 great-gandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Nordhus, on August 23, 1994; and two sisters, Margaret Stallbaumer and Teresa Heiman.
Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 AM Thursday, June 17, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church. The burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Wednesday, June 16, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
Memorials may be given for the Sts. Peter & Paul Nature Park Fund, or Sts. Peter & Paul School, and sent in care of the family.
Ellen Grace Northcott
Ellen Grace Northcott, 89, of Crescent City, California, died January 21, 2003, at a hospital in Crescent City after suffering a heart attack on January 20. She had lived there for 17 years.
She was born November 22, 1913, in Seneca, Kansas, the daughter of Bert and Emily Overmyer Wood. Ellen Grace grew up in Seneca and graduated from the Seneca Public High School in 1930. She worked in Seneca as a bookkeeper at the Citizens State Bank, at the Nemaha County Clerk's office, and later, in her retirement years, at the Fabric Inn.
She was married
to Lynn Northcott at Seneca. He preceded her in death on September 13, 1969. They enjoyed traveling, visiting relatives and collecting antiques.
Her memberships include the United Methodist Church and the Iris Chapter of the Eastern Star, both in Seneca. She was a talented needlewoman who enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing, besides being an avid reader.
Survivors are nephews and nieces, including two nieces who had lived with her in Seneca, LaRue Schrock of Crescent City, California and Mary Brown of Austin, Texas.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Willis and Seldon Wood, and three sisters, Esperance Boone, Roxie Moorehead, and Juliet Hull.
Private inurnment will take place at the family plot at the Seneca City Cemetery, Seneca, Kansas.

Paul L. Norton
Paul L. Norton, 92, of Seneca, Kansas, died Wednesday, November 7, 2001, at Countryview Estates Care Home in Seneca. He had been a resident there since May 26, 1995.
He was born December 19, 1908, on a farm southwest of Centralia, Kansas, the son of Frank H. and Anna Osborn Norton. He grew up there and attended Mulberry School. In 1925, he graduated from Centralia High School.
Paul was a farmer and a stockman. He farmed the land where he grew up.
On May 29, 1976, he married
Eleanor K. Brown. They lived in Seneca. She preceded him in death on August 18, 1991. Paul continued to live in their home until his health made nursing home care necessary.
Paul had attended the United Methodist Church and the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Centralia. Later he became a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church and the St. Joseph Society in Seneca. He was also a member of the Nemaha County Historical Society.
Survivors are nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Norton and two sisters, Mildred Blair and Twila Harden.
The mass of Christian burial will be 10 A.M. Saturday November 10 at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be at St. Joseph'sCemeteryat Lillis, Kansas. The rosary will be prayed at 2 P.M. and a vigil prayer service will be at 7 P.M. Friday at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
