Harold D. Schweitzer
Harold D. Schweitzer, 85, Seneca, formerly of Goff, KS, died Saturday, June 11, 2005, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca. He was transferred there from Life Care Center in Seneca where he had been a resident since July 21, 1998.
He was born April 25, 1920, at Onaga, KS, the son of Louis and Creta Summerville Schweitzer. Harold attended school in Onaga. The family moved to Goff in the 1930s where he worked with his father tearing down buildings and hauling freight. He also worked on area farms as a young man. Later he worked for several construction companies and moved to Topeka in 1959. In Topeka he was employed by Smiley Plumbing and later went to work for the Shawnee County refuse department. In 1982 he retired and returned to Goff.
In 1944 he married
Bertha Mae “Midge” Dunlapp. They were later divorced. He married
Edna Jane Bemis on December 12, 1972. She died December 20, 2004.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Goff.
Survivors are two sons, Bill Schweitzer of Hoyt, KS and Gerald Lee Schweitzer of Topeka; three grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark Schweitzer, January 26, 1999.
Funeral services are planned for 1:30 P.M. Monday, June 20, at the United Methodist Church at Goff. Inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Goff.
Memorials may be given for the church or for the Shawnee County Humane Society and sent in care of the family.

Barrett Johnathan Scragg
Barrett Johnathan Scragg, son of Spc. Casey D. and Julie Feldkamp Scragg of Fort Riley, Kansas, was stillborn on Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at Irwin Army Community Hospital at Fort Riley.
Survivors besides his parents are a sister, Abygail Rose of the home; grandparents, Mark and Rita Feldkamp of Seneca, Kansas, and William and Carmen Scragg of Cottonwood, California; and a great-grandmother, Mary Emily Berroeran of Gerber, California.
The funeral mass will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will meet with friends at 9:30 A.M. Saturday at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca, Kansas, and proceed to the church.
Bernadine C. Sedlacek
Bernadine C. Sedlacek, 83, of Seneca, Kansas, died Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
Bernadine was born on August 21, 1928 on a farm north of Seneca, the daughter of Jacob J. and Wilhelmena C. Rottinghaus Rennenger. She attended from St. Mary’s Grade School in St. Benedict and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1947.
On December 31, 1951 she married
Clarence Stallbaumer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict. He preceded her in death on June 5, 1960. Bernadine married
Louis Sedlacek on August 7, 1963 at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca.
After her marriage to Clarence they lived in Lincoln and she was employed at Russell Stover’s candy factory. When Clarence died, she moved back to Seneca and worked at Harsh Drug Store. She married
Louis and moved to Bremen, Kansas where they bought a farm and she was a stay-home mom. While Louis was in the service during the Vietnam War she worked for several years for the school lunch program. The couple retired and moved to Seneca in November of 2000.
Bernadine loved to garden, cook, play cards and crochet; she belonged to three different card clubs.
Besides her first husband Clarence, she was preceded in death by a son, Brian Sedlacek on August 14, 1983; a daughter in 1954; her sister Elizabeth; and her brother Wilfred.
She is survived by her husband Louie of the home; a son, Anthony Sedlacek of Topeka; and sisters, Aurelia Heinen, Rosie Niehues, Mary Niehues and Alice Sedlacek, all of Seneca
Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Sunday, July 1, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 AM Monday, July 2, at the funeral home. Burial will be at 2 PM at St. John'sCemeteryin Hanover, Kansas.
Catherine M. Sextro
Catherine M. Sextro, 98, of Seneca, Kansas, died Friday, June 15, 2001, at Crestview Manor in Seneca.
She was born December 3, 1902, in Rosemount, Iowa, the daughter of John and Anna Schurman Heinen. The family moved to Kelly, Kansas, where she attended school.
On October 17, 1923, she married
Henry Sextro at St. Bede's Church, Kelly. They lived in Seneca two years and farmed near Baileyville from 1923 to 1948. After five years in the Beattie area, they moved to Muscotah, Kansas, where they farmed for 23 years. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1973. In April of 1976, they moved to Seneca.Her husband Henry died October 7, 1977. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Helen, on July 4, 1928, a son Kenneth Sextro on July 5, 1976, a granddaughter, Carol Ann Phillips on
February 12, 2001, and a great granddaughter, Stephanie Ann Huerter on March 2, 1996.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church at Seneca and St. Ann's Altar Society at the church. She was a former member of Sacred Heart Church at Baileyville.
Survivors are three sons; Lillis Sextro of Kent, Washington, Glen Sextro of Olathe, Kansas, Larry Sextro of Horton, Kansas; two daughters, Evelyn Ronnebaum of Seneca and Mary Jane Koch of Sabetha, Kansas; a brother, Raymond Heinen of Goff, Kansas; two sisters, Susanna Huerter of Seneca and Marie Conley of Centralia; 22 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
The mass of Christian burial will be 2 P.M. Saturday, June 11, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be in Sacred HeartCemeteryat Baileyville.
Memorials may be given for Sacred HeartCemeteryor for Sts. Peter & Paul School Building Fund and sent in care of the family.
Clara M. Sextro
Clara M. Sextro, 81, of Seneca, Kansas formerly of Overland Park, Kansas, died Saturday, July 1, 2000, at Country View Estates Care Home in Seneca. She had fibrosis of the lungs. She had been a resident of the nursing home since October of 1998.
She was born December 12, 1918, the daughter of John and Rose Hohe Reinecke on a farm southeast of Baileyville. She attended Sacred Heart School at Baileyville and helped on the family farm. Following high school, she moved to Kansas City where she worked for St. Margaret's Hospital from 1936 to 1940. She later worked for the Civil Service Administration in Kansas City.
On February 7, 1946, she married
Leander Sextro at Astoria, Oregon. He died March 1, 1990. They lived most of their lives in Overland Park, She was was employed by the Shawnee-Mission School District from 1967 to 1980 and for about two years at the Shawnee-Mission Hospital.
She was a member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in Overland Park.
Survivors are 3 sons, Ronald Sextro of Cleveland, Ohio, Gary Sextro of Frisco, Texas, Ralph Sextro of Olathe, Kansas; two brothers, Frank Reinecke and Clarence "Mike" Reinecke both of Seneca; four sisters, Sr. Theophane Reinecke O.S.B. of Atchison, Helen Stallbaumer, Rita Holthaus, her twin sister, and Rose Ann Nordhus, all of Seneca; and ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The mass of Christian burial will be 10 A.M. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville. The rosary will be prayed at the Lauer Funeral Home on Wednesday at 2 P.M. and 7 P.M.
Memorials may be given for Sacred Heart Church or Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Mary "Lucille" Sextro
Mary “Lucille” Sextro, 91, of Kansas City, Kansas, died on Friday, December 21, 2012, at Life Care Center of Seneca.
Lucille, who also sometimes went by Mary, was born August 19, 1921, to Joseph and Minnie Robertson Winkler in Baileyville, Kansas. She attended school in Seneca through 8th grade, and moved to the Kansas City area in 1943. On February 15, 1944, she was married
to Charles C. Sextro in Seneca. This union produced three children, James, Judith (Lowe), and Joseph, who died at birth. Lucille and Charles were married
for 47 years when Charles died on March 20, 1991.
Lucille was an interline office clerk for the Kansas City branch of Chief Freight Line for 20 years, retiring in 1974.
She was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church of Kansas
City, Kansas, volunteering her loving service to parish members and their spouses who were in need of hospice care.
In her spare time she enjoyed playing bridge, cooking, and traveling. She was also a member of the Shamrock and Chippee Clubs, before returning to Seneca in 2010 to reside at Life Care Center.
She is survived by her son-in-law Paul Lowe and two grandchildren, Tony and Nick Lowe of Kernersville, West Virginia; and two great-granddaughters, Sophie and Madison Lowe.
Besides her husband Charles, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son James and an infant son Joseph; a daughter Judith Lowe; and a brother Paul Winkler.
A rosary will be prayed at 9:15 AM Friday, December 28, followed by Mass of Christain Burial at 10 AM, both at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Seneca. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, 126th and Parallel Parkway in Kansas City, Kansas.
Memorial contributions may be given in Lucille’s memory to the family for St. Patrick Catholic Church of Kansas City, Kansas.
Ryan R. Sextro
Ryan R. Sextro, 27, of Seneca, Kansas, died Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
He was born on May 21, 1985 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital, the son of Robert R. and Karla J. Kaster Sextro.
He grew up in the Bern area and graduated from Bern High School in 2003. He then graduated from Kaw Area Technical School in Topeka in 2004. He was employed at Mitchell Appliance at the time of his death.
On July 8, 2006 he married
Kathryn R. Buessing at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville. Their daughter Sydney was born on July 8, 2010.
Ryan was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Baileyville Knights of Columbus Council #13087. Ryan enjoyed sports, especially football; he took pleasure in working on his Chevy Nova and motorcycles.
He is survived by the love of his life Katie and his precious daughter Sydney; his parents, Robert and Karla Sextro of Bern; his brother Kent of Bern; his sisters, Robin Stapelton of Sabetha and Kyndall Sextro of Bern; his grandparents, Chuck and Charlene Kaster of Bern; and in-laws, Vern and Karen Buessing of Baileyville.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Don and Anita Sextro.
Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Thursday, July 19, at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 AM Friday, July 20, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
