Anthony F. Spielman
Anthony F. "Tony" Spielman, 88, of Seneca, KS, died Thursday, Spetember 13, 2001, at Countryview Estates Care Home in Seneca.
He was born December 14, 1912, on a farm south of Seneca, the son of Anthony J. and Christine Strathman Spielman. He attended a rural school and Sts. Peter & Paul School in Seneca. He helped on the family farm and later farmed his own farm.
On January 5, 1935, he married
Josephine Stegeman at Redemptorist in Kansas City, MO. She survives of Seneca. They lived and farmed in the Centralia community until they moved to a farm south of Oneida, KS, in 1949. In 1958 they moved to a farm west of Seneca, and he started custom combining from Oklahoma to South Dakota until 1979. They moved into Seneca in 1969. Tony and Josephine celebrated their 50th wedding aniversary in 1985, and have been married
for 66 years.
He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church and the St. Joseph Society at the church in Seneca.
Survivors besides his wife, Josephine, are a son, Donald Spielman of Prairie Village, KS; two daughters, Shirley Beets of Kansas City, MO and Nancy Severin of Topeka; five sisters, Olivia Numrich of Shawnee Mission, KS, Frances Robbins and Vera Cox of Cheney KS, Mildred Lackey of Seneca, and Luella Hinton of Fayetteville, AR; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Fisher on August 2, 1995, a granddaughter, Kimberly Brown in 1958, a brother, Leo J. Spielman, and a sister Mary Murphy.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 Monday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 2 P.M. Sunday and a vigil prayer service will be 7 P.M. Sunday at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca where he will lie in state after 3 P.M. on Saturday.
Memorials may be given for Sts. Peter & Paul School and sent in care of the family.
Josephine B. Spielman
Josephine B. Spielman, 90, of Seneca, Kansas, died Friday, October 25, 2002, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital at Seneca. She was transferred there from Country View Estates Care Home in Seneca where she had been a resident since January of 2001.
She was born August 17, 1912, on a farm in the Coal Creek Community south of Centralia, Kansas, the daughter of Bernard and Elizabeth Von Schmede Stegeman. She attended the Sunflower School near her home. Later she lived with her brother Frank at St. Benedict, KS, and attended school there for two years.

"Josie" started working in the kitchen and as a waitress at the Gilford Hotel in 1953. In the late 1960's she began work as a cook at Crestview Manor care home in Seneca and retired in 1982.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church and St. Ann's Altar society at the church in Seneca. She belonged to several social and card clubs in the Oneida area.
Survivors are a son, Donald Spielman of Prairie Village, KS; two daughters, Nancy Severin of Topeka and Shirley Beets of Kansas City, MO; thirteen grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, fourteen step-great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Fisher on August 2, 1995, a granddaughter, Kimberly Brown in 1958, four brothers, Frank, Henry, Louis, and Ben Stegeman, and seven sisters, Katie Becker, Clara Burns, Rose Olberding, Elizabeth Denison, Ann Gunn, Mary Holthaus, and Johanna Stegeman.
The Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M. Monday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca on Sunday at 2 P.M. and at 7 P.M.
Memorials may be given for Sts. Peter & Paul School and sent in care of the family.
Aurelia R. Stallbaumer
Aurelia R. Stallbaumer, 88, of Seneca, Kansas, died December 9, 2014 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.
She was born February 18, 1926, on a farm east of Baileyville, Kansas, the daughter of Herman and Alice Larkin Niekamp. She grew up there and graduated from Baileyville High School in 1944. She was employed at the ABC Cleaners in Seneca.
On November 25, 1947, she married
Eugene Stallbaumer at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. They lived and farmed northwest of Baileyville for 42 years. In the spring of 1990 they moved to Seneca.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church, St. Ann’s Altar Society at the church, and did volunteer work at the Mission Center. She was a charter member of the Nemaha County Association for Handicapped Citizens Board. She was a Member of the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital Guild and did volunteer work at the hospital. She also did volunteer work at the Red Cross Blood Mobile. She was a Former member of Sacred Heart church, president of St. Ann’s Altar society there, and sang in the church choir.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Stallbaumer on March 13, 2007 a brother, Elmer Niekamp of Seneca; three sisters Anna Hammes, Louise Stuke, and her twin sister Cecelia Niekamp.
Survivors are her three daughters, Connie Caffrey of Columbia, MO, Sandra Hazlett of Topeka, KS, Laurie Stallbaumer of Seneca, 2 grandchildren 4 great grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, 10 A.M., December 13, 2014 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. The burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca at 2 P.M. Friday, December 12, 2014. Memorial may be given for Nemaha County Training Center and or Sts. Peter and Paul Church.
Dennis E. Stallbaumer
Dennis E. Stallbaumer, 50, of Washington, Kansas, formerly of Sabetha and Seneca, Kansas, died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at the Centennial Homestead Care Home in Washington, Kansas, where he had been a resident since July 1996. He was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1989.
He was born September 23, 1949, at the Seneca Hospital, Seneca, Kansas, the son of Donald P. and Teresa Wiltz Stallbaumer. The family lived in Sabetha where he grew up and graduated from the Sabetha High School in 1967. Dennis was employed in Seneca at the Seneca Wholsale where he had a route delivery for two years. In 1969 he began work at Keim Transportation in Sabetha where he did over the road trucking throughout the USA until 1989 when he was diagnosed with MS. He moved to Seneca in 1989 before moving to Washington, Kansas, in 1996 where nursing home care became necessary.
In July of 1970 he married
Katherine "Kathy" Jacobs at Seneca. They were later divorced. He married
Cindy Nutsch in October of 1976, and they were divorced in 1996.
Survivors are his father, Donald P. Stallbaumer of Seneca, his mother, Teresa Robinson of Topeka; four sons, Shawn Stallbaumer of Falls City, Nebraska, Shannon Stallbaumer of Herkimer, Kansas, Jason Stallbaumer and Casey Stallbaumer both of Washington, Kansas; two daughters, Shylah and Lacy Stallbaumer both of Washington, Kansas; a; a brother, Larry Stallbaumer of Hoyt; four sisters Marie Latoski of San Francisco, CA, Jeanette Kocher of Hiawatha, Kansas, Janet Glothlin of Olathe, Kansas, Lorraine Liccardi of Topeka, Kansas, and two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held 10 am Monday, June 12, at St. Augustines's Catholic Church in Washington, Kansas. Inurnment with a graveside service will be at 11 am Thursday, June 15, at St. Augustine'sCemeteryin Fidelity, Kansas.
Memorials may be given for an Education Fund for his children and sent in care of the family.
Donald P. Stallbaumer
Donald P. Stallbaumer, 91, of Seneca, KS, died Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Crestview Manor care home in Seneca.
Don was born July 19, 1920, on a farm north of Axtell, the son of Claude and Agnes Feldkamp Stallbaumer. He attended a country school.
Don was married
to Teresa Wiltz; she preceded him in death.
After his schooling he helped his dad on a farm near Fidelity, KS. On July 8, 1942 he entered the U.S. Army at Fort Leavenworth. He served with the 24th Coast Artillery Battalion and was stationed at Fort Ord in California; he was honorably discharged on November 3, 1945.
He then returned to the Sabetha and Seneca area and worked as a steeple jack and a painter. Since he was fearless working at heights, he repaired many church steeples in the area and was very proud of that accomplishment. He was later an insurance broker and sold insurance for several companies until he retired.
He loved to dance and would take every opportunity to do so. He enjoyed watching football and other sporting events.
He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca and the American Legion Earl W. Taylor Post #21 in Seneca.
Don is survived by his daughters, Marie Gray of San Jose, CA, Jeanette Kocher of Hiawatha, KS, Lorraine Liccardi of Topeka, and Janet McGlothlin of Olathe, KS; a son, Larry Stallbaumer of Hoyt, KS; a long time friend, Mary Ann Olberding of Seneca; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son Dennis on June 7, 2000; his brothers, Virgil and Regis; and a sister, Eileen Redinger.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 2 PM Wednesday, April 11, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the St. AugustineCemeteryin Fidelity.
Elda A. Stallbaumer
Elda A. Stallbaumer, 91, of Seneca, Kansas, died Monday evening, May 26, 2014 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
Elda was born October 25, 1922, on a farm north of Baileyville, Kansas to Edward B. and Mary Feldkamp Haverkamp. She attended a country school, District #10 through the 8th grade year.
On May 10, 1944, she married
Mark Stallbaumer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict. Her husband, Mark passed away on June 4, 2008. As a young couple, they farmed and lived northwest of Seneca. In 1946 they bought a farm north of Baileyville, and expanded their operation in 1954, when they bought a farm southwest of Seneca, where they resided until 1976.
When her husband Mark’s electronic repair business expanded, they built a new shop on Highway 36 in 1964, which also featured an adjoining laundomat business. They retired from the repair shop and sold it in 1981, and sold the laundromat in 1982.
Elda and Mark built a home in Seneca in September of 1976; for years, they traveled across the U.S. in a motor home and wintered in Arizona. Elda loved to make afghans, quilts, bunnies, pin cushions, craft items. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, playing Bingo and gardening.
Elda was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church and the St. Ann’s Altar Society, and a past member of Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville.
Survivors are three sons, Galen Stallbaumer of Seneca, Terry ‘Norma’ Stallbaumer of St. Bridget, and Dean “Marilyn” Stallbaumer of Centralia; three daughters, Edna Mae Koch of Kansas City, Kansas, Kathleen ‘Bob’ Bowhay of Du Bois, Nebraska, and Jane ‘Elmer’ Haug of Centralia; two brother, Cletus Haverkamp of Corning, Vernus Haverkamp of St. Benedict; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Haverkamp; her grandson, Nicholas Stallbaumer; and a granddaughter, Jenny Marie Stallbaumer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 AM Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM on Wednesday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Elizabeth B. Stallbaumer
Elizabeth B. Stallbaumer, 98, Seneca, died early Thursday morning July 29, 2004, at Crestview Manor in Seneca.
She was born November 4, 1905, on a farm six miles east of Herndon, KS, the daughter of Charles and Barbara Berger Hutfles. After attending a rural school for a year, she lived in a boarding house in Herndon and attended St. Mary’s School so she could make her first communion. The family moved to a farm south of Kelly in 1917 where she attended St. Bede’s School and helped on the family farm.
On October 24, 1928, she married
Suitbert Stallbaumer at St. Bede’s Church at Kelly. They lived and farmed east of Kelly for two years before moving to a farm west of Goff for three years and later south of Corning. In June of 1970, they moved to Seneca. Elizabeth worked at the Nemaha County Convalescent Home cleaning and doing laundry for 15 years until she retired in 1972. She and her husband celebrated their 50th and 55th wedding anniversaries. He preceded her in death on May 6, 1987.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Altar Society, and a former member of St. Patrick’s Church at Corning. Elizabeth did volunteer work at Sts. Peter & Paul Mission for several years. She always had a large garden and also enjoyed crocheting many afghans which she gave to her grandchildren.
Survivors are seven sons; Ervan of Tulsa, OK, John of Hoyt, Lester and Benedict “Butch, ” both of Holton, James of Cincinnati, OH, Michael of Paola, and Terry of Omaha; five daughters, Mary Ann Grollmes of Netawaka, Lucille Eisenbarth, Barbara “Bobbie” Osterhaus, and Peggy Osterhaus, all of Seneca, and Janice Jenkins of Paola; two brothers, Clarence Hutfles of Topeka and Leo Hutfles of Falls City; and 42 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son Daniel on November 1, 2003; three grandchildren, Edward Grollmes, Tracy Osterhaus, and Joseph Stallbaumer; two great-granddaughters, Heather and Holly Morris; two brothers, William and Harry Hutfles; and a sister, Hedwig “Hattie” Brokamp.
