Galen L. Stallbaumer
Galen L. Stallbaumer, 71, Corning, KS, died Tuesday, December 14, 2004, at his home of an apparent heart attack.
He was born July 11, 1933, on a farm southwest of Kelly, the son of Elmer G. and Josephine F. Rethman Stallbaumer. In 1940 the family moved to the farm northwest of Corning where he and his brother presently lived. He attended St. Bede’s School at Kelly and St. Patrick’s School at Corning.
Galen helped on the family farm and in July of 1953, he entered the U.S. Army. He was a carpenter with the 826th Engineers serving in Newfoundland. After his discharge in June of 1955, he returned to the farm and began work with the Nemaha County Road and Bridge Department for 43 years. At the time of his retirement in July of 1998, he was a supervisor and inspector. He continued to farm with his brother, Larry, and also raised cattle.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, where he had served on the church committee for 3 years and also as a money counter on Sundays; the Arthur L. Mills Post of the American Legion where he served as commander at Corning; and the Knights of Columbus #1769 at Seneca. Galen enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.
Survivors are two brothers, Lawrence “Larry” Stallbaumer of Corning and Gerald Stallbaumer of Topeka; six sisters, Patricia Lierz of Baileyville, Darlene Roeder of Seneca, Jo Ella Ronnebaum of Centralia, Mary Beems, Diane McConnaughey and Linda Feldkamp, all of Topeka.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald on September 7, 1980.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M. Friday at St. Patrick’s Church at Corning where he will lie in state from 9:30 A.M. Friday before the services. The burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed Thursday at 2 and 7 P.M. at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca where he will lie in state after 8:30 A.M. Thursday.

Josephine F. Stallbaumer
Josephine F. Stallbaumer, 94, of Seneca, Kansas, died Thursday, December 28, at Crestview Manor Care Home where she had been a resident for two years.
She was born June 14, 1906, on a farm northwest of Kelly, the daughter of Bernard and Elizabeth Kampsen Rethman. She grew up there attended Old Lincoln School. She did domestic work in the local area.
On June 22, 1927 she married
Elmer G. Stallbaumer at St. Bede's Church at Kelly. They farmed northeast of Kelly and later northwest of Corning. They moved into Seneca in 1972.
Her husband, Elmer, died April 17, 1972.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church and St. Ann's Altar Society at the church in Seneca. She was a member of the Arthur Mills Post #37 of the American Legion Auxiliary and a former member of St. Patrick's Church, where she was active in the Altar Society, both at Corning. She liked to crochet, play cards, and took special interest in all of her grandchildren.
Survivors are three sons, Galen Stallbaumer and Larry Stallbaumer both of Corning and Gerald Stallbaumer of Topeka; six daughters, Patricia Lierz of Baileyville, KS, Darlene Roeder of Seneca, Jo Ella Ronnebaum of Centralia, Mary Beems, Diane McConnaughey, and Linda Feldkamp all of Topeka; 30 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 8 step great grandchildren.
Beside her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald Stallbaumer on September 7, 1980; two granddaughters, Mary Josephine Lierz on August 1, 1957 and Elizabeth Louise Lierz on April 6, 1963; and two great grandchildren, Jason Ronnebaum on August 6, 1981 and Paula Ronnebaum on May 27, 1992.
The mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The rosary will be prayed at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca on Friday at 2 P.M. and a Vigil Prayer Service will be at 7 P.M. Friday. The burial will be in St. Patrick'sCemeteryat Corning.
Memorials may be given for Sts. Peter & Paul School and sent in care of the family.
Margaret M. Stallbaumer
Margaret M. Stallbaumer, 91, Seneca, died Monday, February 7, 2005, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca. She was transferred there from Life Care Center where she had been a resident since January 2000 after suffering a hip fracture in December of 1999.
She was born December 8, 1913, on a farm northeast of Seneca, the daughter of Henry J. and Josephine Waller Nordhus. Margaret attended Sts. Peter & Paul School. When she was 16, her mother died along with her newborn baby, and Margaret helped take care of the younger children and the farm. In 1940 she moved to Kansas City, KS and worked in homes doing domestic work and child care. She returned home in 1942 to help take care of her father.
On April 26, 1944, she married
Herman L. Stallbaumer at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Shortly after their marriage, Herman was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served four years and saw action in the European theater. After Herman returned from the service, they moved to a farm two miles north of Centralia where they farmed and raised livestock. They retired from farming in December 1978, and moved to Seneca. Her husband, Herman, preceded her in death on May 24, 1983.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church, St. Ann’s Altar Society, the church choir, the church quilting group, the L.C.B.A., the Earl W. Taylor Post #21 of the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Seneca Memorial Post #7458 of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Margaret enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and bingo. She learned oil painting and painted several pictures for her children. She was a very devout lady with a warm and friendly disposition and a positive outlook on life.
Survivors are three sons, Galen Stallbaumer of Topeka, Lynn Stallbaumer of Boulder, CO, and Kirby Stallbaumer of Seneca; two daughters, Jo Ann McKinney of Parker Heights, TX, and Elaine Chase of Beattie; two brothers, Sylvester “Pat” Nordhus, and John Nordhus, both of Seneca; two sisters, Mary Macke of Seneca and Rita Keith of Shawnee Mission; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, parents, and an infant sister, Celestine, she was preceded in death by a sister, Theresa C. Heiman, on December 6, 2004.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be in the church cemetery. A prayer service will be conducted at 2 P.M. and a rosary will be prayed at 6 P.M. Wednesday at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca, where she will lie in state after 8:30 A.M. Wednesday.

Marie H. Stallbaumer
Marie H. Stallbaumer, 89, of Seneca, Kansas, died early Monday morning, May 5, 2003, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
She was born July 28, 1913, the daughter of Frank and Mary Agnes Osterhaus Deters, on the family farm northeast of Baileyville, Kansas. She attended Baileyville schools and helped on the family farm. As a young woman, she worked in homes caring for newborns, elderly people, and doing domestic work.
On April 10, 1940, she married
Paul J. Stallbaumer at Sacred Heart Church at Baileyville. They lived and farmed west of Seneca for four years before moving to a farm northwest of Centralia, Kansas. In 1976 they retired and moved into Seneca. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1990. Her husband, Paul, died October 14, 1997. She was also preceded in death by two infant children, Gerald Stallbaumer on December 3, 1942 and Jeanette Stallbaumer on November 27, 1943.
She was a member of Sts Peter & Paul Church and St. Ann’s Altar Society at the church in Seneca. She was a former member of Sacred Heart Church and the Altar Society in Baileyville. Marie took great pride in the achievements of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She crocheted many beautiful afghans and doilies for her family and friends.
Survivors include a son, Leon Stallbaumer of Centralia; a brother Francis Deters of Centralia; two sisters, Emma Holthaus of Horton and Clara Krogman of Baileyville; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and children, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Aloysius, Edward and Joseph Deters and two sisters Ann Ronnebaum and Alvina Stallbaumer.
The mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, May 7th, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 2 & 7 P.M. Tuesday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
Memorials may be given for the Marie H. Stallbaumer Memorial Fund, to be used for her great grandchildren’s education and sent in care of the family.
Martha A. Stallbaumer
Martha A. Stallbaumer, 75, of Seneca, Kansas, died peacefully, Saturday, February 23, 2002, at her home in Seneca surrounded by her family. She had battled cancer for the past year.
She was born September 21, 1926, on a farm south of Baileyville, Kansas, the daughter of Aloysius and Anna Krogman Reinecke. She grew up on the farm, graduated from Sacred Heart Grade School, and from Baileyville High School in 1944. During high school she worked for the Cyril Lauer family in Seneca. After she graduated from high school, she was employed by the Houlihan family in Kansas City.
On April 19, 1952, she married
Emmett Stallbaumer at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville. He survives of the home. They lived northeast of Corning, Kansas, for six years before relocating to a farm southeast of Axtell, Kansas. In 1968 the family moved to their present home south of Seneca. Martha was employed at the Nemaha County Convalescent Home in Seneca, and when it closed she worked in the dietary department at Country View Estates in Seneca. She had worked there for 25 years when she retired in June of 2000.
Her memberships include Sts. Peter & Paul Church and the St. Ann's Altar Society at the church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, gardening, reading, writing, painting watercolors, the company of her family, and the comforts of home. Martha especially loved her grandchildren ranging in age from 23 years to four months.
Survivors besides her husband, Emmett, are three sons; Ron Stallbaumer of Overland Park, Kansas; Tom Stallbaumer of Rogers, Arkansas, and Jon Stallbaumer of Hiawatha, Kansas; two daughters, Patty Kuhlmann of Kensington and Amy Brummer of Prairie Village, Kansas; three brothers, Fred Reinecke of Centralia, Louis Reinecke of Seneca, and Tony Reinecke of Garden Grove, California; four sisters, Josephine Altenhofen of Gardner, Kansas, Hilda Reinecke and Irene Haverkamp, both of Seneca, and Angela Tangeman of Centralia; and 13 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Eugene Reinecke and two sisters, Mary Ann and Rose Reinecke.
The mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M. Monday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 2 P.M. Sunday by St. Ann's Altar Society and a vigil prayer service will be conducted at 7 P.M.Sunday at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Mary C. Stallbaumer
Mary Catherine Stallbaumer, 82, of Seneca, KS, died Sunday, April 6, 2003, at the Onaga Hospital in Onaga, KS. She was visiting her daughter, Jean Ann Boeckman in Lillis, KS, when she became ill and was taken to the hospital.
She was born May 9, 1920, on a farm west of St. Benedict, KS, the daughter of Henry G. and Ida Gellhaus Hulsing. She grew up there, attended St. Mary’s School at St. Benedict, and helped on the family farm. Before her marriage she was employed as a clerk at Sam Tate’s grocery store in Seneca.
On April 15, 1950, she married
Eugene E. Stallbaumer at St. Mary’s Church at St. Benedict. They lived and farmed in the St. Benedict community until 1979 when they moved to Seneca. Her husband, Eugene, preceded her in death on January 15, 1981. Mary worked at Country View Estates Care Home in the laundry for several years. She also volunteered on a regular basis at the Sts. Peter & Paul Mission Center in Seneca.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church and Sts. Ann’s Altar Society at the church. She was a former member of St. Mary’s Church and St. Ann’s Altar Society there.
Survivors are two sons, Stephen Stallbaumer and Max Stallbaumer, both of Seneca; two daughters, Jean Ann Boeckman of Frankfort, KS and Rose Mary Henry of Hoyt, KS; four brothers, Victor “Bud” Hulsing and Bernard Hulsing, both of Seneca, Henry Hulsing of Topeka, and Joseph Hulsing of Omaha, NE; five sisters, Henrietta Holthaus and Marceline “Marcy” Meyer, both of Axtell, KS, Florence Kohake and Mildred Kohake, both of Goff, KS, and Ida Rose Wichman of Kelly, KS; 15 grandchildren and two great grandsons.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Alan Stallbaumer on September 17, 1992; two brothers, Celestine “Sally” Hulsing and Emil Hulsing; and a sister, Elsa McGuire.
The mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, April 8, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 2 & 7 P.M. Monday at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca where she will lie in state after 8:30 A.M. Monday.
