Leola Mae Foiles

Leola Mae (Troxel) Foiles, 72 died on January 5, 2015 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, Kansas. She was born on November 8, 1942 in Newton to, William Franklin “Frank” and Leora Stella (Johnson) Troxel. Leola spent the first six weeks of her life in the Newton community and then her family spent time in the Iola, LaHarpe and Moran communities until 1956, when they relocated back to Newton. She graduated 8th grade at Moran, KS in May of 1956. Leola attended Newton High School and graduated in May of 1960. From February 1961 until September 1, 1964, Leola worked as a receptionist and bookkeeper for Floair, Inc., Newton City/County Airport. Floair installed additional fuel tanks in aircraft and ferried them to their destination in foreign countries, and also ferried smaller planes to the coast for shipment overseas. On December 11, 1971 she married
Robert Lee Foiles in Newton, Kansas. Leola loved all kinds of crafts as well as her computer. She enjoyed needlework and crafts involving leather tooling at times. She delighted in spending time with Becky, Ron, Megan and Chad, and her husband Robert. Preceding her in death were her parents, and half-sister, E. Pauline “Polly” Box, sister, Delores Faye Troxel. Survivors include her loving husband Robert, step-daughter, Rebecca Lynn (Foiles) and husband, Ron Wedel, Goessel; step-grandchildren, Megan (Aaron) Spencer, Ottawa; Chad Wesley Wedel, Goessel; great grandchildren , Ross and Austin Spencer; half-brother, Clarence (Annie) Troxel, Halstead and W.F. “Bill” (Maryann) Troxel, Mission, TX. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015, 10:30 A.M. at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Pastor Brad Penner will be presiding. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Newton, KS. Mildred E. Zuercher
(November 4, 1914 - January 9, 2015)
Mildred Ellen Zuercher, 100, formerly of Whitewater, died Friday (January 9, 2015) at the Newton Medical Center.
She was born on November 4, 1914 on the family farm near Whitewater, Ks., the daughter of Ida (Roth) and Arnold Zuercher.
She had been a school teacher for 41 years in Wichita school district. Mildred loved gardening, playing the piano and organ, as well as being with her nieces and nephews, but she especially loved her Lord and Savior, serving him however she could.
Survivors include her brothers Elwood Zuercher of Whitewater and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her family and those who knew her.
Mildred is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Don Zuercher; sisters, Alma Thierstein and Vernelle Androes; and brother-in-law Paul Androes.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday (January 13, 2015) at the Swiss Church in Whitewater. Interment will be in the Swiss Church Cemetery, near Whitewater, Ks.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday 1pm til 8pm, where the family will receive friends between 6 and 8.

Doris J. Wedel
(May 8, 1929 - January 8, 2015)
Doris Jeannette Wedel died on January 8, 2015, in Overland Park, Kansas. She was born on May 8, 1929 at the former Bethel Hospital, in Newton, Kansas to Augusta (Kater) and Geo Samuel “George” Mull. Doris married
Harold Wedel on September 30th, 1950, at the Goessel Mennonite Church in Goessel, Kansas. She held church membership with the Baptist Evangelical Free Church in Newton, Kansas, before she relocated to Overland Park, Kansas. After Harold and Doris moved, they attended Indian Heights United Methodist Church. Doris was a very loving and caring mother. She enjoyed spending time and enjoying activities with her. For 27 years, Doris was the server at the Roadway Inn, in Overland Park. Preceding her in death are her parents, Augusta and George Mull; and her spouse Harold Wedel on November 16, 2012. Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie G. Molina, Overland Park, KS; son, Timothy K. Wedel, Overland Park; brother, Daniel Curtis Mull, Brooklyn, MI; 2 sisters, Neva Ann Mull Nelson, Newton and Eunice Mull Grimm, Parker, CO; 3 grandchildren, Wesley R. Molina, Casey L. Molina and Anna M. Molina. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 14, at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow the visitation on Wednesday, beginning at 12:00noon. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Newton, Kansas. Bert A. Fox
(December 14, 1958 - January 12, 2015)
Bert Alan Fox, 56, of Newton, died Monday (January 12, 2015) at his home.
He was born on December 14, 1958 in Wichita, Ks., the son of Bert Calvin and Alice Faye Noble Fox. Bert attended schools in Wichita and graduated from Clearwater High School in 1976.
Bert married
Carolyn Langston, they had one son Landon. He later married
Becky DeGarmo, they had one son Calvin. He later married
Fawn Eck.
Bert had lived in Newton for the past 14 years and most recently had been working at Norcraft Manufacturing.
Survivors include his sons Landon Langston of Wichita and Calvin Fox of the home in Newton; two sisters Jan Jones and her husband John and Karen Driskill all of Wichita; one grandson Landon Langston; and many nieces and nephews.
Bert is preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday (January 19, 2015) at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.
There will be no visitation or viewing as cremation has been effected.

Estelle Sutter Krabill, 97
Estelle Sutter Krabill, 97, died on Sept. 8, 2016, in Albany, Oregon.
The second oldest of four children, Estelle was born June 21, 1919, in Wayland, Iowa to Samuel and Minnie Gerig Sutter. Her childhood was spent in Wayland where she was active in family, church and school activities.
Estelle continued her schooling at Goshen College in Indiana. Her appreciation for literature, poetry, and music was nurtured there and continued throughout her life.
Estelle married
Vincent Krabill from Washington, Iowa, in 1941. Between 1942 and 1953, they had four daughters: Ann, Rosemary, Rebecca, and Martha. Tragically, in 1950, Rosemary was killed in a vehicle accident.
Most of Estelle’s adult years were spent in Hesston where Vincent taught science courses at Hesston College. Estelle served in a variety of capacities including that of Publicity Writer. She was also part of a writer’s circle and had a number of her poems and stories published in church periodicals. She enjoyed the intellectual stimulation of a college town as well as entertaining students in their home.
After her children left home, Estelle joined her husband for two teaching stints on the Navajo Indian Reservation. In 1983, she and Vincent moved to Phoenix where she continued a life of service to family and church. Two years after Vincent’s sudden death in 1996, Estelle moved to the Albany (Oregon) Mennonite Village where she resided until her death.
Estelle is survived by three daughters: Ann Burkholder of Goshen, Indiana, Rebecca (Larry) Hauder of Boise, Idaho, and Martha (Dave) Detweiler of Albany, Oregon; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Rosemary, sisters Aldine Meyer and Ruth Rediger, brother Joe Sutter, and son-in-law Richard Burkholder.
Mary Lynne King Boyer, 66
BATON ROUGE, Louisiana - Mary Lynne King Boyer of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, left the bonds of this earth for heaven Tuesday, July 10, 2018. She was 66 years old.
Her caring husband, Mark Boyer, was by her side. It was their 36th wedding anniversary.
born May 27, 1952, in Mineral Wells, Texas, to Raymond and Yvonne (McInturff) King, Lynne grew up the oldest, and as she loved to add, the wisest, of seven children.
She briefly attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky, but returned home after the sudden death of her parents to care for her younger siblings. Lynne credited her heavenly Father for continuing to guide, bless and heal from this marked event in their lives.
In 1971, Lynne married
Larry Knott. Together they had one son, Telly Jon.
She later married
Mark Boyer on July 10, 1982, in an outdoor wedding at the King home in Hesston.
Lynne created welcoming homes in Okinawa, Japan; Lexington, Kentucky; Fayetteville, Arkansas and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her love of travel is represented in her international charm bracelet.
Lynne’s clever wit and joy were evident to all. She was creative, loyal and full of faith. Church involvement was always important. She was a loving mother and a dear friend to many, practicing hospitality without pretension. She wholeheartedly loved people. Her genuine positive attitude and outlook in spite of all that she endured inspired many.
Lynne is loved and survived by her husband Mark; her son, Telly Jon Knott; her grandchildren, Mathew, Andrew, Abby, Caleb and Joshua; her siblings, Gary King, Terri Brooks, Lori Long, Lisa Muthiah, Juli Elliot and Dina Horne; her 29 nieces and nephews and her 33 great-nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Yvonne (McInturff) King.
A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Gary Harrell, will be held Saturday, Aug. 4, in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the Fellowship Bible Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorials in her honor to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Breast Cancer Society, or Kidney Foundation.

Walter Marion Fenton, 96
Walter Marion Fenton, 96, died on June 11, 2017, at Showalter Villa, Hesston.
He was born Aug. 22, 1920, in Palmyra, Missouri, to Clyde and Emma Shank Fenton.
His siblings were Lewis, Esther (Hathaway), Helen (Coleman), Florence (Clark) and Mary (Clark).
He moved with his family to Harvey County, returning to Missouri as a young man to work on the family farm.
He attended Hesston College where he met Lois Kanagy, marrying her Dec. 15, 1953. Lois died Feb. 11, 2006.
Walter and Lois had seven children, seven grandchildren and one great-grandson; Curt (Sarah Buller) and sons Joseph and Mark (Kathryn Hamilton) and their son Lucas; Glen; Willard (Kathy Fenton-Miller) and Solomon and Emma; Joanna (Gregg Friesen) and Rebecca and Kendall; Dwayne (Mariann Burmeier) and Emily; Wesley who died in childhood; Joe (Annette Wyse) and Grant and Hannah. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Walter and Lois lived and farmed near Philadelphia, Missouri. Walter also worked in farm and land conservation as a bulldozer operator.
Upon retirement, Walter and Lois served as volunteers with Mennonite Voluntary Service in Crystal Lake, Illinois and Wichita.
They moved to Hesston in 1997, enjoying life as part of the Showalter Villa community.
Walter was a committed and involved member of Pea Ridge Mennonite Church, Philadelphia, Missouri and most recently Whitestone Mennonite Church.
Walter was a committed and loving caregiver for Lois in her later years as her health declined. He also helped his fellow Villa residents, pushing many of them on wheelchair rides around the Villa and Dyck Arboretum.
A visitation will be Friday, June 30, from 6-8 p.m. at the Schowalter Villa Chapel.
A memorial service will be held at Showalter Villa Chapel on Saturday, July 1, at 10:30 a.m.
Interment of cremains will be at a later date at Pea Ridge Mennonite Cemetery, Philadelphia, Missouri.
Memorials may be made to Schowalter Villa or Dyck Arboretum.
Alvin Friesen, 93
NEWTON - Alvin Friesen, age 93, of Newton, Kansas, passed away April 1, 2018, at Newton Medical Center.
Alvin was born July 18, 1924, in Rural Marion County -- the son of Abraham and Susanna (Penner) Friesen.
Alvin was the fourth of six children born to Abraham and Susanna.
Alvin attended school in Marion County, graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1942. He then attended Bethel College. Realizing that a college education was not for him, he went back to help on the family farm until he was drafted into the US Army in 1949.
He first served in Germany – helping with reconstruction after World War II. Later, he served in the Korean Conflict for about 18 months –serving with the 439th Engineer Battalion. After being honorably discharged from the US Army in 1952, Alvin returned to farming. After several more years of farming, Alvin went to work at Hesston Corporation (now AGCO) in Hesston – where he worked until his retirement in May, 1988.
Alvin married
Anna Doerksen on Feb. 18, 1962, in rural Meade.
During their 56 years of marriage, Alvin and Anna enjoyed traveling and spending time with extended family. After 12 years of marriage, they welcomed their only child, Marc, in September, 1974.
The family celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in February, 2012 – a celebration Alvin and Anna enjoyed.
In February 2015, Alvin and Anna made the decision to sell their home in Hesston to move to Presbyterian Manor in Newton.
Over the years, Alvin has enjoyed hobbies such as coin collecting, International Harvester toy collecting, going to auctions, attending Army reunions, and going to “coffee” with many acquaintances in Hesston. Alvin was well known for his accumulation of knowledge about different topics.
In the last two years, Alvin has enjoyed “meeting” his granddaughter, Kate, two times a week as she entered Presbyterian Manor for preschool. He also has enjoyed talking with his grandson, Luke, about school and golf.
Alvin and Anna are members of Whitestone Mennonite Church in Hesston. Alvin has confessed his faith in Jesus Christ. The hope is that brothers and sisters in Christ will meet Alvin again in heaven.
Alvin is survived by his wife, Anna, of 56 years, who resides at Presbyterian Manor in Newton. Alvin’s son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Sarah, and two grandchildren, Luke and Kate, also reside in Newton. Alvin also leaves one sister, Evelyn (Irvin), of Moundridge and many nieces and nephews.
Alvin is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl and Theodore (Ted) and sisters, Linda and Edna.
A visitation will be held Thursday, April 5, 6-8 p.m. at Presbyterian Manor Chapel.
Memorial service will be held Friday, April 6, at 11 a.m. at Whitestone Mennonite Church in Hesston.
Burial with Military Honors will be held prior to the service at 9:30 a.m., at EastlawnCemeteryin Zimmerdale,
