Lilly L. Blosser
MOUNDRIDGE — Lilly L. Blosser, 91, a homemaker, of Moundridge, died Friday (Sept. 27, 2002) at Memorial Home in Moundridge. She was a sister of Berniece Goertz of Hesston.
She was born March 15, 1911, in Harvey County to Bernhard D. and Amelia (Gering) Stucky. She had resided in Moundridge for three months, having moved from Peabody.
On Jan. 5, 1935, she married
Bryon Blosser in Halstead. He died Feb. 27, 1998.
Other survivors include a son, Larry Blosser of Florence; and a brother, Orlin O. Stucky of Moundridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ada Preheim; and a brother, Vernon O. Stucky.
Graveside service was Tuesday at First Mennonite ChurchCemeteryin rural Moundridge followed by a memorial service at Moundridge Funeral Home Chapel.

Hillsboro – Dorothy Hanneman, 93, died May 23, 2013 at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro. She was born January 1, 1920 to Alfred and Nellie Louise (Erion) Burgat in Peabody. She married
Joel Hanneman on January 24, 1940 in Newton. Survivors include: sons, Jim (Teresa) Hanneman of Nathrop, Colorado, John Hanneman of Lenexa, Kansas; daughter, Kay (Alvin) Epp of Bradshaw, Nebraska; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. predeceased by her husband in 2009. Richard B. Hogan

Richard B. Hogan, died on April 10, 2012 at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.
He was born December 2, 1940 the son of Alice Mae (Billings) and Morris Richard Hogan.
Richard graduated high school in 1958 and enlisted in the United States Navy on October 28, 1958. He was medically discharged on March 1, 1962.
After the service Richard worked as a photographer for the Newton Kansan. His love for photography became a favorite past time.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Judy Koerner.
Survivors include his 4 children Kelly Kathleen Hogan, Wichita, KS; 3 sons, Michael Richard and wife Jana, Valley Center, Timothy Patrick and wife Sonya, Lawrence, KS, and Daniel Philip and wife Holly, Hutchinson, KS; 7 grandchildren, Bailey, Ethan, Noah, Caleb, Judith, Kasey and Corey; 2 sisters, Jane and husband Marvin Rutschman, Dodge City, KS and Nancy and husband Jim McFarlane, along with many nieces and nephews.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, on Sunday, April 15th, 2012 at 6:00 P.M. led by Father James Mainzer. The public visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with the family greeting from 5:00 P.M. until Rosary time.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, April 16th, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 10:30 A.M.
Inurnment will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Newton, Kansas. United States Naval Honor Guard will present honors.

Erma Yost dies, service Friday
Erma M. Yost, 89, died at her home in Hesston Tuesday (June 3).
The daughter of Ben E. and Ida Pearl (Kauffman) Martin, she was born Oct. 20, 1913, in Garden City, Mo. She was raised in Minot, N.D., and graduated from Surrey, N.D., high school. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Goshen College and a Master’s degree in English from Wichita State University.
She was a homemaker and a retired public school educator.
She married
Lyle E. Yost on July 31, 1938, in Minot. He survives of the home in Hesston. She is also survived by her children: Bryon D. Yost, Castle Rock, Colo., Winston R. Yost, Larkspur, Colo.; Susan G. Yost, Larkspur; Cameron B. Yost, Colorado Springs; and six grandchildren.
Erma developed the first kindergarten in Hesston. She was an avid reader (having read over 1,000 books in the last two years), authored “Erma’s Diary”, wrote and edited the “Yost Cookbook”, and edited “As He Said”.
She was a member of Hesston Mennonite Church, a board member of the Arthritis Foundation, Kansas Chapter, a docent at the Wichita Art Museum, and a board member of KPTS Public Television.
She was past president of the Ladies Golf at Fox Ridge Golf Course in Newton; past president of the Kansas Chapter of the Gideons; and past president and life member of the Hesston Civic Club.
Yost promoted the community theater in Hesston and was a benefactor of the Drama Building at Goshen College. She was an avid golfer and freelance artist.
Visitation is at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, today (Thursday, June 5) from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Family will greet friends at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday (June 6) at Hesston Mennonite Church with Rev. Cheryl Hersberger and Rev. John C. Murray officiating.
A private graveside service will be held at East LawnCemeteryat Zimmerdale.
A memorial has been established for Aspen Chapel, Aspen, Colo., in care of the funeral home.

Dorothy Pankratz
1931-2009
Dorothy Pankratz, 77, died February 4, 2009. She was born June 13, 1931 in Hillsboro, to Herman J. and Sara B. (Eitzen) Funk. She attended Ebenfeld School grades 1-8. She accepted Christ as her Savior was baptized and joined the Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church when she was a girl. She graduated from Hillsboro High School. Dorothy attended Tabor College for 2 years and received a teaching certificate in 1951. She taught at South Inman School the following year.
Dorothy married
Allen W. Pankratz on May 27, 1952 at the Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church. She then became a member of the Hillsboro MB Church. She taught one more year at French Creek School, north of Hillsboro. They moved to their farm southeast of Hillsboro in 1953, where Dorothy had grown up and where Allen and Dorothy lived their full, married
life.
Hospitality was Dorothy’s gift. She opened their home to family, friends, and newcomers to their church and community. Active in the church, Dorothy taught Sunday School, VBS and Allen and Dorothy served as deacons. She was a 4-H project and community leader for many years. Dorothy was a long time member of the Farmerette EHU Club and a charter member of the Country Stitchers Quilt Guild.
Dorothy worked at Tabor College from 1974 to 1996 in foodservice, first in the kitchen then as administrative support. At Tabor, Dorothy’s family grew to include all the students and she followed the Tabor sports programs enthusiastically.
Dorothy is survived by her husband Allen and sisters Ruby Graumann, Hillsboro, and Luella Gunther, Reedley, CA; daughter, Barbara and Lonnie Thiessen, Wichita, grandsons Brett and Tammy Thiessen and great-grandson Cohen, San Diego, CA, Grant and Denice Thiessen and great-grandsons Johnny, Blayne & Noah, Wichita; son, Jerel, Hillsboro, granddaughter Paula and Kurt Schwarz and great-grandson Parker, LaCygne, KS, granddaughter Heather and Jeff Madison, Fort Scott, KS, and grandson, Cody Pankratz, Sedgwick, KS; and daughter Krista and Max Heinrichs and three granddaughters Samantha, Tara and Darcy, all of Hillsboro.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 8, from 6-8p.m. at Jost Funeral Home, Hillsboro. A graveside service will be Monday, February 9, at 10 a.m., with a memorial service to follow at Hillsboro MB Church at 11:00 a.m. Memorials can be made to Kids Connection in care of Hillsboro MB Church or Parkside Homes.

She was born January 4, 1937, to Arnold A. and Marie (Krehbiel) Ratzlaff in Moundridge. Survivors include: sons, Nickolai D. (Peggy) Schmidt of Newton, Dobby Schmidt of Santa Fe, New Mexico; daughters, Jody (Dave) Ratzlaff of Hutchinson, Shelly (Kevin) Loganbill of Moundridge, Kelly (Bob) Pankratz of Plevna, KS; brothers, Kenneth (Carol) Ratzlaff of Buhler, Gerald (LaDonna) Ratzlaff of Buhler; sisters, Betty (Leroy) Gehring of Buhler, Ruth (Ken) Gehring of Moundridge; 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; predeceased by her husband, Otto Nick (Poppy) Schmidt in 2000. Charles Newell
Charles "Charlie" Newell, 86, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, at Bethesda Home in Goessel. Visitation will be at Newell’s Truck Plaza Tuesday, Jan. 13, from noon-5 p.m. and Wednesday from 7 a.m.-noon. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, at First United Presbyterian Church, Newton. Rev. James Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton. Petersen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Newell was born May 20, 1917, in Cheney. He was the son of Carl and Hellen White Newell. They preceded him in death.
He married
Jill Gardner in Newton on July 23, 1991. He was the owner of Newell Truck Plaza, a hotel and restaurant. He worked daily until he was 85 years old. He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, the American Quarter Horse Association and Kansas Oil Marketeers Association.
He is survived by his wife, Jill; two sons, Charles and Kerry, both of Newton; two daughters, Donna Lesfwich and Wanda Willems, both of Newton; five grandsons and three granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Roger and Stephen, and two sisters, Thelma Cain and Mabel Newell.
The family requests no flowers. Gifts can be made to the Alzheimers Foundation in care of the funeral home.

Mary Ellen McCoy Scott, 82, died Wednesday (April 4, 2012) at her home in Valley Center.
She was born on July 7, 1929 in Haverhill, Ks., the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Case McCoy. She married
Bertrum Scott, Sr. on July 30, 1946.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son James Scott; brothers Charles and Hervey; sisters Hazel, Grayce, Velma and Doris.
Survivors include her children Bertrum & Patsy Scott, Jr., Sharon & Ron Holloway, Beverly & Al Jeffries, Janet & Phil Ashley, Sandra & Lee Ward, Gregory & Teresa Scott; 20 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday (Apr. 7, 2012) at the Valley Center Christian Church. Interment will be in the Walton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Friday evening between 4 and 6.
