Irma Dahl
d. February 13, 2013

Irma Mary Dahl was born July 28, 1910 in Canton, Kansas, to John P. and Maria (Unrau) Franz. Most of her early life was spent on a farm in Northwest Kansas where she was raised with three brothers and one sister. When she was thirteen years of age her family attended a revival meeting in a school house not from where the Franz family lived. It was here where mom made the most important decision of her life – the decision to accept Jesus Christ as her savior.

Twelve years later it could be said that mom made the second most important decision and she married Abraham B Dahl on September 29, 1935 near Mingo, Kansas. To this union were born nine children. Six daughters: Frances (Neil-deceased) Unruh, Reedley, CA., Lillian (Dick-deceased) Falls, Kingsburg, CA., Dorothy Dahl, Hillsboro, KS, Sharon (Clyde – deceased) Schroeder, Hillsboro, KS., Beverly (Jim) Boese, Longmont, CO., and Barbara (Ted) Braun, Mooresville, NC., and three sons: Calvin (Arlene Friesen) Dahl, Maple Grove, MN., Willard (Mary) Schmidt) Dahl both deceased, and Donald Dahl, Hillsboro, KS. Obviously, with this many children life was demanding and difficult but she excelled at being a caring mother , a loving wife and devoted Christian.

Additionally, she is survived by twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Irma passed away peacefully on February 13, 2013 at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro at the age of 102. A celebration to honor her life will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church. Burial will be held at the Hillsboro M.B. Cemetery. Memorial to the Wichita Union Rescue Mission in lieu of flowers please.
