Theresa Louise Boden
Theresa “Terri” Louise Boden, 28, of Topeka, died on March 9, 2005, in a fatal traffic accident in Topeka.
A mass was held March 12 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Mankato, with the Rev. Daryl Olmstead officiating. A vigil service was held March 11 at the church, with the Rev. Olmstead.
Interment was in St. Theresa’sCemeteryin Mankato.
She was born on Feb. 13, 1977, in Beloit to Leon and Karen (Johnston) Boden.
She grew up on a farm in rural Ionia, Kan. She was active in 4-H, especially with sewing and craft projects.
She was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Mankato, until moving to Topeka, then joined Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
In 1997, she married
Jeremy Armstrong.
In 2002, she graduated from Washburn University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
While in Topeka, she worked at Capital Plaza Hotel, Payless Corporate offices, and was currently employed with the Sports Car Club of America.
Her hobbies were collecting Eeyores and turtles, and shopping.
Her organs were donated and will help the lives of more than 50 people.
Survivors include her parents of Esbon, Kan.; three brothers, Shane and Jennifer of Waverly, Iowa, Scott and Rachel of Hesston, and Jason and Krista of Manhattan; a special friend, Duane Thiene of Topeka; a nephew; four nieces; and grandparents, Bud and Jean Boden of Mankato, and Ivar and Marlene Johnston of Lansford, N.D.
Memorials have been established in care of the Theresa Boden Memorial Scholarship Fund and with CASA.

Irvin Dey, 84
Irvin Carlton Dey, 84, died on Feb. 26, 2005, at Newton Medical Center.
He was born on Sept. 24, 1920, in Newton to Marvin V. and Irene C. (Baker) Dey.
In September 1983 he married
Ruth M. Thompason in Hutchinson. She died in 1997.
He was a member of Church of the Brethren, and served as worship leader on an alternating basis.
He attended a one-room rural school, Candy School District No. 59 from 1926 to 1933. He attended Newton High School, graduating in 1938.
He worked on the family farm, raising cattle and farming. They raised purebred Angus cattle from 1937 to ‘97.
He was a 4-H leader from 1945 to 1975, when he was asked to be the countywide crops and garden leader, retiring from this position in 1990.
He was with the auxiliary police during World War II and was with Newton Police Reserves. His police service was from 1942 to 1992.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, Newton York Rite and the Knights Temple. He held several posts in the organization.
In June 2002, he received a 60-year pin from the Masonic Lodge.
He also served several terms on the Harvey County Farm Bureau board.
Survivors include a stepdaughter and her husband, Janet and Irvan Welty of Hesston; a stepdaughter in-law Cindy Dirksen of Hutchinson; and a step-granddaughter, Julie Latta of Hutchinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his stepfather, Richard Dirksen.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, at Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. W. David Albright officiating.
Burial will be at GreenwoodCemeteryin Newton.
An Irvin Dey memorial fund has been established, in care of the funeral home.

Alvin Carl Dreier
Alvin Carl Dreier, 78, died on Feb. 17, 2005, at the St. Francis Campus of Via Christi in Wichita.
The visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, at Highland Trinity United Church of Christ.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Revs. Jim Paulley and Sheree Boman officiating. Burial will be at HighlandCemeteryin rural Newton.
He was born on Dec. 24, 1926, at Axtell Hospital in Newton to Luella (Molzen) and Fred Dreier. After his birth mother died, his stepmother, Keturah Dreier, took over the role as his mother.
He was a wheat and dairy farmer for many years in the Newton area. He was a member of Highland Trinity United Church of Christ in Newton.
His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and friends around the table drinking coffee and visiting.
Survivors include wife, Joan, of the home; four daughters, Diane and Virgil White of Newton, Sherry Dreier of Hesston, Teresa and Randy Boyts of Fort Worth, Texas, and Lori Dreier of Fort Worth; a brother, Nelson; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother; father; stepmother; two brothers, Delbert and Kenneth; and a sister, Maurine Briar.
A memorial fund has been established with the Highland Trinity United Church of Christ.

Arthur J. Griffin
Arthur J. Griffin, 53, died on Feb. 13 in Newton.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hesston Inter-Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Scott Miller and Dr. Hubert Brown officiating. There will be nocemeteryservice. Cremation will take place at a later date.
He was born on Jan. 15, 1952, in Norristown, Pa., to James Thomas “J.T.” and Bonnie Ruth (Jackson) Griffin. He was a social worker.
He was a member of Hesston Inter-Mennonite Church and Norristown New Life Church.
Survivors include: caregiver Julie Griffin of Newton; mother, Bonnie Platts of Norristown; father and stepmother, J.T. and Julia Griffin of Lexington Park, Md.; two daughters, Stacy Ruthann Griffin and Briana Grace Griffin, both of Newton; a brother, Nick Platts Jr. of Philadelphia; and three sisters, Yvonee Platts, Ruth Ann Platts, and Yvette Platts, all of Norristown.
Memorials have been established with the Arthur Griffin memorial fund in care of Miller Funeral Home in Hesston, which is handling the arrangements.
Vera C. Erteld
Vera C. Erteld, 91, died on Feb. 11 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.
A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, at North English Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Grace Brethren Church in North English, Iowa.
She was born on Dec. 25, 1913, in Iowa County, Iowa, to Guy and Ida (Myers) Miller.
On Oct. 20, 1943, she married
Dwight D. Erteld in North English. He died in 1983. She was a homemaker.
She was a Hesston resident for 20 years, moving from North English.
She was a member of Pleasant Grove Grace Brethren Church.
Survivors include a son, Roger of Sterling; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, J. Paul and Donald Miller.

Lewis Philip Hahn
Lewis Philip Hahn, 89, died on Feb. 9 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.
The funeral service was Sunday at the Shawnee United Methodist Church in Shawnee.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Hesston United Methodist Church, with a fellowship time to follow.
He was born on Aug. 21, 1915, in Cottage Grove, Ind., to George Loper and Anna Maria (Gesell) Hahn. On July 7, 1943, he married
Arline Brewer in Washington, D.C. They lived in Shawnee for 50 years before moving to Hesston in 2002.
In 1938, he graduated with a degree in business administration from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He retired from the U.S. Weather Bureau as a river forecaster in 1975 after 38 years of service.
He was a member of Shawnee United Methodist Church.
He served 25 years on the Johnson County Election Board and had been a volunteer at the National Archives for 20 years.
He was a gardener, photographer and genealogist. He also enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Mark and Judy of Littleton, Colo., and Allen and Marcia of Hesston; a sister, Doris Burdsall of Fredericksburg, Va.; a sister-in-law, Dottie Hahn of Joplin, Mo.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Bill, and a sister, Genevra Wright.
Memorials have been established at Shawnee United Methodist Church and Hesston United Methodist Church.
