Jordan Harris

Jordan Harris, 19, of Newton, died Saturday (April 21, 2012) at the result of an automobile accident.
He was born on April 16, 1993 in Lyons, Kansas, the son of Christopher Harris and Elizabeth A. (Turner) Harris.
Jordan graduated from Newton High School in the spring of 2011.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, creative writing, playing video games, and watching movies.
Jordan loved being around animals and they loved him too, he was a great people person and always was helping other people.
Jordan was the owner of Print-N-Ship in downtown Newton.
Survivors include his parents; brothers David, Kelsey and Aaron Harris; sister Amber Harris; maternal grandfather Mike LaViolette; paternal great grandmother Helen Harris; two nephews Andrew and Evan Harris.
Jordan is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and his paternal grandfather.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday (April 26, 2012) at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday 1pm til 8pm where the family will receive friends between 6 and 8.
A memorial has been established to assist Jordan’s family with burial expenses, contributions to the Jordan Harris Burial Expenses Fund at Midland National Bank or the Elizabeth Harris Family Expenses Fund at Bank of America both in Newton.
Arrangements are by Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton.
Matthew Ryan Gallops II
Matthew Ryan Gallops II, 11, of Pooler, Ga., died May 27, 2006, after being hit by a car as a he stood on the grass waiting for his little brother to come home from school.
He was born on June 6, 1994, in Newton, to Ben and Gretchen Gallops.
He was a former Boy Scout and was a member of the ROTC.
Survivors include his parents, a sister, Caitlin, and a brother, Justin, all of the home; his grandmother, Annabel Penner of Newton, former owner of the Village Motel in Hesston; his grandfather, and Caleb Gallops of Alabama.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 2, at the Savannah Christian Church in Savannah, Ga.
There will be a private family burial.
Richmond Funeral Home in Richmond Hills, Ga., is handling the arrangements.
Grace A. Unrau
Grace A. Unrau, 53, Moundridge, died June 20, 2007, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 24, with family greeting friends from 7 to 9 p.m., at Miller Funeral Home in Hesston.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, at Hesston Mennonite Brethren Church, with Pastor Richard Wieneke officiating. Burial will be private, with Pastor Charles Rempel officiating.
She was born June 27, 1953, in Newton, to Arnold and Arene (Kaufman) Entz.
She was an educator.
On Dec. 27, 1983, she married
Paul Unrau in Moundridge.
Survivors include her husband of the home; her mother; three brothers, Rodney and Dennis Entz, both of Peabody, and Scott Entz of Whitewater; and a sister, Karen Stuber of Abilene.
Preceding her in death was her father and brother, Quentin.
A memorial fund has been established with Victory in the Valley, in care of the funeral home at P.O. Box 32, Hesston, KS 67062.
Carl Kroeker
Carl Edward Kroeker, 88, died June 13, 2007, at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.
He was born April 9, 1919, near Colony, Okla., to Jacob P. and Mary (Zielke) Kroeker.
He was an electrical engineer and farmer.
Services were held Saturday, June 16, in the Schowalter Villa Chapel in Hesston with Pastors Beverly Baumgartner and Cheryl Hershberger officiating.
Burial was in the Buhler East Cemetery.
On Dec. 9, 1945, he married
Margaret Franz in Wichita.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wichita; the American Legion, and a charter member of the World War II Memorial and Museum.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Calvin of Wayne, Neb.; a daughter, Karen Kroeker of Fairfax, Va.; three brothers, Elmer of Corn, Okla., Orville of San Jose, Calif., and Dr. Marvin of Ada, Okla.; three sisters, Ruby Bayless of Reedley, Calif., Loretta of Williams, Ore., and Jennie Vogt of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was a son, Glen; a brother, Harvey; and two sisters, Esther Warkentien and Edna LaRose.
Memorial Funds have been established with the Outreach Program at the church and Good Samaritan fund at Schowalter Villa, in care of the funeral home.

Caroline J. Schmidt
Caroline J. Schmidt, 68, died June 18, 2007, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
She was the sister of Bertina Ensz of Hesston.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, with family greeting friends from 5 to 8 p.m., at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 21, at Grace Hill Mennonite Church, with Pastor James Voth officiating.
Burial will be in Grace HillCemeteryin rural Newton.
She was born Aug. 6, 1938, to Herbert and Edna (Voth) Schmidt in Newton.
She was one of the early participants of Northview Opportunity Center in Newton.
She lived at Rescare in Wichita and helped with Meals on Wheels.
She was a member of Grace Hill Church and attended the Can Do handicapped Sunday school class of Central Community Church in Wichita.
She is also survived by another sister, Pauline Schmidt of Wichita.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial fund has been established with Camp Mennonscah, Western District Mennonite Church, at Murdock, in care of the funeral home.
