LA CROSSE - Elsie Willan Heinrich, 94, died March 18 at Rush County Memorial Hospital in La Crosse. She was born Dec. 7, 1911, at Gate, Okla., the daughter of Roy and Maude (McPherson) Coppock. She was a graduate from KU with a Masters Degree in Social work in 1958. She married
John Willan, and later married
Dan Heinrich on Dec. 9, 1963, at Las Vegas, Nev. He died Oct. 12, 2004. A resident of La Crosse since 1996, formerly of Great Bend, she was a retired social worker and homemaker. Mrs. Heinrich was a member of the United Methodist Church in Medicine Lodge and Eastern Star. Survivors include one daughter, Laura Johnson of Medicine Lodge; two brothers, Roy Jack Coppock of Oklahoma City, Okla., and William Coppock of Yuma, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Roy Coppock, and one sister, Helen Coppock. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday United Methodist Church in Medicine with the Rev. HOISINGTON - Wilma Utherta Stephens, 78, died March 16 at Cheyenne Meadows Living Center in Hoisington. She was born Oct. 23, 1927, at Randolph County, Ark., the daughter of Everett and Della (Hall) Mitchell. She was a homemaker and a resident of Hoisington for three years coming from Randolph County. Stephens was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Elm Store, Ark. Survivors include her mother, Della Mitchell of Hoisington one brother, Larry Mitchell of San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Doris Simmons of Hoisington; and several nieces and nephews. Agnes Louise Condit, 88, died March 15 at Catholic Care Center in Bel Aire, Kan. She was born March 28, 1917 in Hays Kan., the daughter of Amistas and Agnes (Dinkle) Leiker. She married
Eddie LeRoy Condit on Sept. 6, 1937 in Hays. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2004. She was a homemaker and resident of Bel Aire, formerly of Great Bend. Survivors include four sons, William Joseph Condit, and Jerry Condit, both of Wichita, Larry Condit of Tucson Arizona, and Eddie Foy Condit of Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Debra Lancaster, Offerle Kan., MaDonna Condit, Wichita; 19 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Richard Condit. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Charter Funerals Chapel, Great Bend with the Rev. Ted Stoecklein officiating. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Memorial Park cemetery, Barton County. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m., Monday. Alvin R. Menzer July 3 1974 in Olmitz. He died Feb. 18, 1983. She was a homemaker and resident of Goddard for the past eight years coming from the farm near Otis. Mrs. Menzer was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and the St. Ann Altar Society both of Olmitz. Survivors include one son, Donald D. Menzer and wife Marsha of Goddard; two grandchildren, Cynthia Menzer-Jones and husband Randy, Highland Village, Texas, Michelle Oesterreicher and husband Scott, McKinney, Texas; and three great grandchildren, Kaitlin, Nicole and Julia Oesterreicher. She was preceded in death by one son, Charles M Menzer, Jr; four brothers, Joe, Herman, Al and John Jarmer. John was born in Canyon City, Colo. John was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War, and was a retired manager for Wal-Mart. Survivors include his wife, Ona of Silsbee; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Daniel Dove of Magnolia, Texas, two sons Mark Proberts of Groveton, Texas and John Todd Proberts of Silsbee, brother, Howard Proberts of Naperville, Ill.; sister, Donna Thompson of Great Bend; and grandson, James Dove of Houston, Texas.

HUTCHINSON - Lester Giesick, 90, died March 15 at Hutchinson Hospital. He was born Aug. 21, 1915, at rural Albert, The son of Jacob and Eva Katherine Foos Giesick. He married
Isal Lorraine Hergert on Oct. 12, 1946, at La Crosse. She died July 24, 2003. He was born one mile west of Albert on the farm where he was to make his lifetime occupation. He was a resident of Hutchinson for four years coming from Albert. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, where he earned a purple heart when the ship he was on crossing the English Channel met with a mine. He was honorably discharged. He was a member of Albert Methodist Church, Albert, and V.F.W., La Crosse. Survivors include one son, Robert Giesick and wife Norma of Hutchinson; three daughters, Mary Anne Depperschmidt and husband LeRoy of Wichita; Karen Schroeder and husband Troy of Albert; Beverly Ruder of Lewisville, Texas; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Giesick and son-in-law, Kenneth Ruder. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 18 at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend with the Rev. CLAFLIN - Floyd A. Riemann, 91, died March 13 at Ellsworth County Medical Center. He was born Oct. 30, 1914, at Claflin, the son of John D. and Mary J. (Markel) Riemann. He married
Stella Arensman on Aug. 27, 1948, at Ellsworth. She died Aug. 25, 2003. He was a retired farmer and a lifetime rural resident of Claflin. Riemann was a member of United Methodist Church, Claflin; and DAV Chapter 27, Great Bend. He was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the 127 Infantry 32 Division-Red Arrow in Australia, New Guinea, and the Philippines from 1941 to 1945 as a machine gunner, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Survivors include one son, Ralph Riemann of Great Bend; one brother, Vernon Riemann of Claflin; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Velma Panzer; one brother, Harold Riemann; and one sister, Elva Brinson. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Sarah Hickson de Salazar officiating. Burial will be at the Claflin cemetery with military graveside rites by Fort Riley Honor Guard. August Kaufman on Aug. 4, 1936, at Dubuque. He died Jan. 9, 1987. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Kaufman was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. Survivors include one son, Gary Kaufman of Great Bend; two sisters, Eunice McBroom and Irene Snook, both of Russell; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Vera Recka Mulder

EDGERTON, Minn. - Vera Recka Mulder was born to Joseph and Emma (Becker) Foelgner, Sr., on April 7, 1921, in Ely, Kan. She was raised on a farm near Larned. When she was six years old, she moved with her parents to Great Bend, where she was raised and received her education. After her graduation from Great Bend High School in 1939, she worked for a short time at Woolworths. From March, 1944 to 1945, she was employed at Douglas Aircraft in California as an office clerk. After World War II, she returned to Kansas. For three years from 1946 to 1948, she worked as a telephone operator in Great Bend. On Feb. 12, 1949, she was united in marriage to Robert Marvin Mulder in Great Bend. Following their marriage, they moved to Minnesota and lived in Marble Township of Lincoln County. In 1952, they moved to a farm in Limestone Township, and a year later they moved to a farm in Royal Township, near Ivanhoe, Minn. Then, on Dec. 24, 1969, they moved to Rock County, Minn. where they purchased a farm in Denver Township. Throughout the years on the farm, she was always at her husband's side to help with the farm operation. This past summer, Vera became ill and entered the Mary Jane Brown Nursing Home in Luverne, Minn. On Oct. 4, 2005, she became a resident of the Edgebrook Rest Center in Edgerton, Minn., where she died on Saturday, March 11, at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 4 days. Vera was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Edgerton, where she was active in her church circle until her health prevented her from attending. When they lived near Ivanhoe, Minn., she was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. For many years, she was a counselor for the Minnesota Extension Office in Ivanhoe and was honored as an 'Outstanding Homemaker' in 1966. While living in Rock County, she was a member of the U-Go-I-Go Club and the Birthday Club. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, knitting, crocheting, tatting, and embroidery. She also loved listening to music, watching figure skating, and being outdoors appreciating nature all around her. She had a great love for her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She had a deep knowledge for factual information, including reciting all the U.S. presidents in order as well as their wives. She enjoyed calling in to the radio and being able to answer the trivia questions. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Robert Mulder of Hardwick, Minn.; four children, Conrad Mulder of Hardwick, Minn., and Cameron Mulder of Kasota, Minn., Joette Remme and her husband Dale of Ghent, Minn., and Leslie Mulder of Edgerton, Minn.; six grandchildren, Craig Mulder and his wife Kristin, Keith Mulder, Brandon Mulder and his wife Kristina, Shawn Remme, Dustin Remme, and Dallas Remme; one great-grandson, Koltin Mulder; two brothers, Vernon Foelgner of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Joe Foelgner, Jr., of Great Bend; and one sister, Ida Fanshier of Great Bend. Vera was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter-in-law, Julie Mulder; and one sister-in-law, Kay Foelgner. Funeral service will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Edgerton, Minn. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery, Edgerton, Minn. Alice Pfeifer on June 27, 1951, at Hays. He was an employee of the Farley Machine Works Company, retiring on May 31, 2001. Schmidt was a member St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Russell, and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Phil Schmidt of Seiling, Okla., and Greg Schmidt of Edmond, Okla.; three daughters, Susan Becker of Milberger, Shelley Dougherty and Margie Schmidt, both of Russell; three brothers, Melvin Schmidt of Catherine, William Schmidt of Westminster, Colo., and Howard Schmidt of Hays; four sisters, Mary Ann Stecklein of Arvada, Colo., Zita Dreiling of Hays, Gladys Jacobs of Wichita, and Carol Canfield of Fayetteville, Ark.; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Annette Gerstner; one granddaughter, Kapryce Schmidt; one brother, Ralph Schmidt; four sisters, Alice Freitag, Joyce Gonzalez, Jeanette Gottschalk and infant sister, Pauline Schmidt.
