O'FALLON, Mo. - Kevin S. Dunlap, 47, died Nov. 10 at his residence. He was born Oct. 6, 1959, the son of Richard A. Dunlap of Great Bend and Ramona L. Meddles Dunlap of Great Bend. He was a district manager of Hobby Lobby for the past five years in Ballwin, Mo., and a former general manager of Lowes Home Center. Dunlap was a member of Grace Assembly of God Church in New Whiteland, Ind. He was a loving husband and he loved and adored his children and grandchildren. He was an avid golfer and was always making people laugh '“ a man of integrity and most importantly, a man of God. He was a beloved brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin and a friend to many and loved by all. Survivors include his wife, Susan A. Floyd Dunlap of O'Fallon, Mo.; father, Richard A. Dunlap of Great Bend; mother Ramona L. Meddles Dunlap of Great Bend; one son Josh S. Dunlap (Ashley) of Indianapolis, Ind.; one daughter, Jessica A. Jones (nee: Dunlap) of Indianapolis, Ind.; three grandsons, Jaylen Jones, Jacob Jones and Jarren Jones; one granddaughter, Jasmine Jones; parents-in-law, the Rev. Jim and Carol Floyd, and mother-in-law Pat Floyd, all of Bowling Green, Ky.; one brother, Matthew Dunlap and wife Cheryl of Wylie, Texas; and two sisters Roxana Hale and husband Bob of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Christine Shipman and husband Earnie of Saginaw, Texas. HOLLYWOOD, Fla. - Daniel Eugene Moulder, 38, died Nov. 3 in Hollywood, Fla. He was born April 6, 1968, in Great Bend, the son of Jack and Joyce Moulder. He graduated from Great Bend High School in 1986. He moved to Las Vegas, Nev., in 1999. He was a resident of Hollywood, Fla., for one year. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. Survivors include his grandmother, Virginia Higers of Las Vegas, Nev.; two aunts, Joan Farmer and Janet Brown of Las Vegas, Nev.; one uncle, Gary and wife Janice Everett of Great Bend, and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Moulder, and his mother, Joyce Moulder. Interment will be at the Great Bend cemetery.
William E. (Chuck) Arnold

GENESEO - William E. (Chuck) Arnold, 73, died Nov. 10 in rural Barton County. He was born June 9, 1933, at Mulberry, Ark., the son of Evert William and Ethel Ione Arnold. He married
Delores Galyardt July 14, 1956, at Lyons. He was a resident of Geneseo for the past four years, and was formerly of Ellinwood. He was a retired cable tool driver for Chief Drilling and a sand pump operator for Dartmouth Sand & Gravel. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Ellinwood, the VFW, also at Ellinwood, The American Legion at Geneseo and the Masonic Lodge at Claflin. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Ronald Arnold, of Geneseo; two stepsons, David Kilgore of Great Bend and Bruce Kilgore of Chase; four sisters, Ruth Dunn and Alma Keller, both of Houston, and Lelamae Swafford and Lenora Berna, both of Van Buren, Ark.; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Don Arnold, and a sister, Naddine Riddle. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, Ellinwood, with the Rev. Mary "Frances" Maxwell Cilek

HUTCHINSON - Mary 'Frances' Maxwell Cilek, 97, died Nov. 9 at Cheyenne Meadows Living Center, Hoisington. She was born Jan. 19, 1909, at Clay Center, the daughter of James Howat and Jessie Irene Spence Maxwell. She married
Raymond W. Cilek on Aug. 10, 1931, in Manhattan. He died March 3, 2002. She attended primary school in Clay Center and graduated from high school in Manhattan in 1926. She attended and graduated from Kansas State University in 1930. She taught at Almena High School, Almena, upon her graduation. She worked for the U.S. Department of Labor in Detroit, Mich., Jacksonville, Fla., and Houston, Texas. She then worked for the Poor Commission in Decatur County, Kan. She moved to Marysville with her family in 1941, where she began teaching at Oketo (Kan.) High School. The family moved to Hutchinson and she began teaching at Liberty Middle School, where she taught from 1946 to 1958. She then took a job with the Social Security Administration as a field representative, retiring in 1972. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Chapter 'D' of PEO, AAUW, and was past president of both Altruso and BPW. She enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to several bridge clubs. Upon retiring she took up the game of golf, which she enjoyed. She and her husband also enjoyed traveling. Survivors include a daughter, Carol McDonnell of Papillion, Neb.; a sister, Edna Edwards of Manhattan; a son-in-law, Edmund Martinez of Great Bend; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Martinez, a brother, William Maxwell, and a great-granddaughter, Mikiala Martinez. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the First Presbyterian Church Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Tim Soule officiating. Burial will be at Big Timber cemetery, Jennings, at a later date. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Monday, and 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. OLMITZ - Leonard 'Lennie' Maneth, Jr., 54, died Nov. 8 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, in Wichita. He was born June 10, 1952, in Great Bend, the son of Leonard Maneth, Sr., and Marcella (Riedel) Maneth. A lifetime resident of Olmitz, he was a farmer/stockman and a former employee of Gibson, Titus and Stafford, Murphy Truck Repair and O'Neil Tank Co., all of Great Bend; an employee of Walnut Township and a self-employed welder. Mr. Maneth was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #2100, both in Olmitz. Survivors include five daughters, Wendy Brack and her husband Kelly, and Liston Marsh and her husband Calvin, all of Great Bend, Lori Maneth of La Crosse, Lisa Hamel and her husband Jody of Damar, and Amber Maneth of Lindsborg; his mother, Marcella Maneth of Olmitz; two brothers, Edward Maneth and his wife Kelly of Olmitz and David Maneth of Great Bend; three sisters, Diana Wilson and her husband Michael of Kansas City, Mo., Jolene Dozier and her husband Greg of Independence, Mo., and Mary Kay Harbert and her husband Gary of Kingman; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Maneth, Sr., and grandparents, Edward and Charlotte Riedel and Charles and Augusta Maneth. TOWANDA - Gary Dean Kroeker, age 55, of Towanda, was killed in a tragic motorcycle accident on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006. Gary was a devoted husband, an incredible dad to his son and three stepchildren, and a true friend to all who knew him. Gary was born the son of Marvin and Evelyn Kroeker on Aug. 20, 1951, in Great Bend. They preceded him in death. Gary was a graduate of Pawnee Rock High School and Kansas State University. He had a lifelong passion and talent for woodworking and blacksmithing. He was employed in the aircraft industry, with The Nordam Group, building executive aircraft interiors. Gary is survived by his wife, Barbara Evanhoe of the home; son, Aric Dean Kroeker, of Palatine, Ill.; stepchildren Laurelin Evanhoe, of Ithaca, N.Y., Richard Evanhoe, of Lawrence and Rebecca Evanhoe, of Lawrence; a sister, Karen Garrett and husband Rick, of Great Bend, and a brother, Craig Kroeker, of Pawnee Rock. The Gary Kroeker Memorial Fund has been established at Emprise Bank, Wichita, for the purpose of raising awareness to make the roads safer for motorcyclists. A benefit for the memorial fund will be held today, Nov. 12, from noon to 5 p.m., at the Port of Wichita, 1548 S. Webb Rd., Wichita. Fifty percent of the proceeds will be donated to the memorial fund. Gary's life will be celebrated with a memorial service on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 8 p.m., at The Bright Spot for Health Panorama Room, 3100 N. Hillside, Wichita.

LARNED - Brian Keith Burton, 27, died Nov. 8 in Stafford County. He was born June 10, 1979, in Larned, the son of William Keith and Charlene J. Hiebert Burton. He married
Rebecca Renee Glenn Burton in Larned on June 7, 2003. She survives. A Larned resident since July, moving from Bucklin, he was an account specialist for Nex-Tech in Dodge City. Brian was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Russell. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Alexis of the home; an unborn child; his parents of Russell; grandparents, Milton and Irene Hiebert of Larned and Ruth Burton of Council Grove; one brother, Alan of Great Bend; father-in-law and mother-in-law Jerry and Rhonda Glenn of Larned; brother-in-law, Brent Glenn of Hays; sisters-in-law Rachael Cuta and husband Josh of Minnetonka, Minn., and RuthAnn Glenn of Larned; and a niece, Rane Cuta of Minnetonka, Minn. Robert L. Larson, 86, formerly of Great Bend, died Nov. 8 at his residence in Wichita. He was born Aug. 23, 1920, at Galva, the son of Oscar Alfred Henry Larson, Sr., and Mildred Johnson Larson. He married
Dorothy E. Pascoe on Aug. 11, 1945, at First United Methodist Church, Great Bend, while serving with the U.S. Army. She died Feb. 4, 1999. The couple called Great Bend their home for 53 years until her death. He enjoyed farming in his earlier years and was manager of Mering Inc. and managed two Mobil Oil stations in Great Bend. He owned and operated EFD Express Delivery and was a former Realtor for Sell Real Estate. Larson retired in 1986. He was a resident of Great Bend for most of his life, moving to Wichita in April of 2005 to live with his daughter, Jan Todd and her family. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a lifetime member of the Great Bend Rotary Club and served on the Great Bend Commission. He received the Distinguished Service Award in 1954. He was an active member of American Legion Post 180. He served as a past commander and took an active role with the American Legion baseball program. Larson was proud to be a member of the Great Bend Post. That is one of the places he missed most. Survivors include five daughters: Jan Todd and husband Joe, Wichita; LouAnn Cobb and husband Randy, Olathe; Lynn Kaiser and husband Steve, Great Bend; JoLetta Woolwine and husband Tom, Westwood Hill; and Jerri Dennett and husband Greg, Wichita; 15 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren with one great-grandchild expected to join the family in December; two brothers, Oscar Larson, Jr., Galva, and Lewis Larson, Pretty Prairie; and two sisters, Ruth Taylor and Marjorie Holloway, both of Wichita. Robert was preceded in death by one son, Jon Mart Larson, one brother, Lt. Austin Laverne Pete Larson, and one sister, Doris Larson Engel. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Great Bend with the Rev. Gary Brooks officiating. Interment will be at Great Bend cemetery, with military committal rites conducted by a Fort Riley Honor Guard. ELLINWOOD - Gladys Watson, 98, died Nov. 8 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. She was born Feb. 14, 1908, at Halstead, the daughter of Joseph Rambo Reed and Sarah Christeena Rexer. She was a longtime resident of Turon, formerly of Branson, Mo., and Bovina, Colo., and a resident of Ellinwood for the past 10 years. She married
Lawson E. Watson on May 3, 1931, at Turon. He died Jan. 21, 1980. She was a farm wife and a dietary aide at Skaggs Hospital in Branson, Mo. Mrs. Watson was a member of the Turon Community Church. Survivors include two daughters, Margaret J. Compton of Ellinwood and Martha J. Little of Park Hill, Okla.; eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary J. Thomas; four brothers, Rexer M. Reed, Byron E. Reed, John R. Reed and Marion J. Reed; one sister, Mary C. Myers; one grandson, Michael J. Jerry Lee Meehan, 49, of Great Bend, died Nov. 8 at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend. He was born Oct. 3, 1957, in Denver, Colo., the son of Leo Edward and Lillian M. (Deines) Meehan. He was a member of the United States Marine Corps for four years, and spent some time in Hawaii. Survivors include his mother, Lillian Cochran, of Great Bend; a nephew, Zane Meehan and wife April, and their two children, Chloe and Ben, all of Topeka; and a host of uncles, aunts and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Edward Meehan, his stepfather, Billy J. Cochran, a brother, Benjamin Meehan, and grandparents, Ben and Pauline Deines. Cremation has taken place. Robert Swanson, CWO-2 USN-Ret., 72, a former resident of Great Bend, died Nov. 4. He was born Jan. 8, 1934, in Stillwater, Minn. While residing in Great Bend, he worked for the Great Bend Police Department and was the plant engineer for Fuller Brush Co. After leaving Great Bend, he worked for various companies in the River Falls, Wis./St.Paul, Minn., area. Swanson served 22 years in the U.S. Navy, was active in his church and was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America No. 331; the Tailhook Assn.; DAV No. 26; Veterans of Foreign Wars; American Legion No. 48; Order of Mason No.109; and past president and past treasurer of the USS Oriskany Association. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Allegra Swanson, of River Falls, Wis.; children: Bruce Swanson of Florida, Gary Swanson of Georgia, Linda Richardson of Texas, Diana Zeretzke of Great Bend, Greg Swanson of Minnesota, David Alseike of Wichita and Sonya Alseike of Washington. He is also survived by his brother, David Swanson and wife Sally of Minnesota, and sister, Judy Grabow and husband Gene of Nebraska; and sister-in-law Marcie Swanson of Florida; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. COLUMBUS, Ohio - Frances E. Bates, 87, of Columbus, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 29, in Columbus, Ohio. She was born March 9, 1919, in Salina, Kan., daughter of the late William and Grace Vanatta Allen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence A. Bates. She is survived by a son, the Rev. Lawrence (Anita) Bates of Columbus, Ohio; daughter, Laree (Dr. Larry) Morgenstern of Eugene, Ore.; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill Allen of Chicago and John (Barb) Allen of Palo, Mo.; and sisters, Doris Lawson of Kansas City and Mary Katherine (Al) Miller of Excelsior, Mo. Frances was recognized as a lady golfer of the year at Lake Barton Golf Course in Kansas in 1975. Graveside services will be at Gypsum Hill cemetery in Salina on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Kansas Wesleyan University Athletic Department for golf scholarships.
