McPHERSON - Dorothy Ann Fabin, 79, died March 17 at the Infinia Nursing Home in McPherson. She was born Aug. 2, 1925, in Sterling, the daughter of Frank and Bernice Colby Fabin. She graduated from Sterling High School. A 27-year resident of McPherson, she was formerly a longtime Sterling resident. She was a former employee of Sterling phone company and worked in the dietary departments in nursing homes in Sterling and McPherson. Fabin was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in McPherson. Survivors include one brother, George Fabin of Great Bend. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Marion Fabin and Donnie Joe Fabin, and two sisters, Maxine McConnell and Mary Margaret Fabin. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in McPherson, with the Rev. Paul Oborny officiating. Burial will be in Sterling Community cemetery. There will be no visitation. HOISINGTON - Clara C. Ochs, 92, died March 16 at Cheyenne Meadows Living Center in Hoisington. She was born Oct. 27, 1912, in Russell County, the daughter of Jacob Dumler, Jr. and Mary Katherine (Beck) Dumler. She married
Alvin L. Ochs on June 11, 1937, at Russell. He died March 20, 2001. She was a homemaker. She was a resident of Hoisington, coming from Galatia and Great Bend. Ochs was a member of the United Church of Christ in Great Bend. Survivors include two sons, Lee E. Ochs of Overland Park and Robert G. Ochs of Hoisington; two daughters, Mary K. Luman of Overland Park and Carol A. Smith of West Milford, N.J.; 11 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, J. B. Ochs; three brothers, Alvin, Adolph and Earl Dumler; two sisters, Frieda Strecker and Irene Yingling; and two infant sisters. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with the Rev. Diana Coberly officiating. Burial will be at Hoisington cemetery. LYONS - Mary Lou Frazier, 75, died March 17 at Hutchinson Hospital. She was born March 19, 1929, in La Crosse, the daughter of Lewis Montgomery and Mary Irene Murphy West. She was a graduate of La Crosse High School in 1947. She married
Dr. L. Thane Frazier on Sept. 3, 1947, at Great Bend. She was a resident of Lyons since 1952 and was a homemaker. Frazier was a member of the United Methodist Church; United Methodist Women; P.E.O. Chapter C; Lyons Town & Country Club Golf Association; and Worthwhile Club. Survivors include her husband, Dr. L. Thane Frazier of the home; two sons, Mark Frazier of Newton and Jay Andrew Frazier of Lyons; two daughters, Dr. Mary Jo Wilzig of Los Angeles and Nancy Bateman of Milton; one brother, Willard West of Nekoma; 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas West. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Lyons, with the Rev. Cindy Watson officiating. Burial will be at Lyons Municipal cemetery in Lyons. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Friday at Sillin Funeral Home, in Lyons. The casket will be closed. WICHITA - Francis J. Ross, 83, died March 17 at Lakewood Heights in Wichita. He was born March 30, 1921, at Hays, the son of Frank James Ross and Andrea Meier. He married
Berenita M. Power on Oct. 2, 1944, at Collyer. She died Oct. 22, 2001. He was an Ellinwood resident from 1962-2003, formerly of Hays. He was a heavy equipment operator in oilfield construction, employed by Krier Dozier and Jetwell, retiring in 1976. Ross was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Ellinwood, and former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus at Fort Morgan, Colo. Survivors include three brothers, Francis Ross of Pittsburg, Terry Ross of Wichita and Kurt Ross of Evergreen, Colo.; two brothers, Lawrence (Pete) Ross of Great Bend and Alan Ross of Hays; one sister, Irene Hauser of Denver; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Norbert, Louie and Richard Ross, and one sister, Mary Ellen Fromm. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kimple Funeral Home, Ellinwood. An altar society rosary will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. There will be a vigil service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Rev. Clarence H. Wilhelm

RUSSELL - Clarence H. Wilhelm, 94, died Monday, March 14, at Russell Regional Hospital in Russell. He was born Dec. 22, 1910, on a farm near Timken, the son of Jacob and Amelia (Lohrey) Wilhelm. He grew up and attended grade school, District 55, in Garfield Township in Rush County, and graduated from Otis High School in 1928. He taught school in Rush County from 1929 to 1933 while attending Fort Hays State College in the summers of 1930 and 1931. On July 12, 1936, he was united in marriage to Lillian Gisisk and in October of 1939, they moved to Russell. In 1941, he went into the automotive repair business in partnership with V.C. Henri. In October of 1943, he joined the Navy (Seabees) and served in the South Pacific. He was discharged in December of 1945 and returned to Russell as a business partner in the Henri and Wilhelm Motor Company, which sold Dodge, Plymouth and later Studebaker automobiles. He sold the business in 1953 and operated the City Service Station on the corner of Highways 40 and 281 from 1953 until 1957. After leaving the service station he was engaged in oil production until his retirement. He was a resident of Vintage Place in Russell for nearly 10 years until his death. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Russell; Russell Masonic Lodge #177 where he was past master, serving in 1959, Salina Consistory of Scottish Rite, Isis Temple ANOMS, Russell Elks Lodge, and life member of the Russell VFW Post #6240. Clarence enjoyed a wide variety of interests including sports, hunting and fishing. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family. Clarence is survived by his son, Don C. Wilhelm and his wife, Mary of Brenham, Texas; granddaughters, Kathy Sanders and family of Olathe; Kelly and Vince Johnson and family of Nacogdoches, Texas; Kim and Brent Heaton and family of Coppell, Texas; seven great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Francis Wilhelm of Russell and Eunice Wilhelm of Wichita; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Arthur and Lawrence Wilhelm, and his wife of 58 years, Lillian Wilhelm, who died Nov. 1, 1994. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Trinity United Methodist Church in Russell with the Rev. Kevin Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow the services at 1:30 p.m. today at the La Crosse cemetery in La Crosse. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. today until the service hour at the church. John Mahlon Hinds

OTIS - John Mahlon Hinds, 45, died March 11 at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. He was born Sept. 9, 1959, in Larned, the son of Elberta C. and Ahila M. Countryman Hinds. He married
Marsha Kaye Barnes on Dec. 22, 1992, at Great Bend. He was a resident of Otis for one year, moving from Salina. Before becoming disabled, he had been a part-time police officer, certified EMT and fire chief. Hinds was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Great Bend; Lions Club of Otis; and Mac Track of McPherson. Survivors include his wife, of the home; one son, John Paul Hinds, of Ellinwood; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Hinds of the home, and Joni Marie Hinds of Ellinwood; and three brothers, Carl Hinds of Independence, Russell Hinds of Claflin and Randy Hinds of Iowa. GARFIELD - LeLand 'Ray' Parker, 65, died March 14 at the Hutchinson Hospital, in Hutchinson. He was born Oct. 24, 1939, in Lyons, the son of Garland Boyd and Margaret Leona Bloom Parker. He married
Stella Louise Wood on June 7, 1959, at Hutchinson. He was a Garfield resident since 1997, moving from Larned, where he had resided since 1966. He previously resided in Hutchinson. He was a retired firefighter and security officer with the Larned State Hospital. Parker had attended the Baptist Church, in Haven, and was member of the Larned Volunteer Fire Department, the Kansas State Fire Fighter Association, and was active in the Boy Scouts of America on the local and district levels. Survivors include his wife, of the home; three sons, Carl Parker of Garfield, Kenneth Parker of Kanopolis and Gary Parker of Colby; one daughter, Marilyn Chism of Larned; two sisters, Doris Redinger of Burton, and Talma Miller of Great Bend; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a twin brother, Lloyd 'Roy' Parker; a sister, Margaret Deloris Maxson; a grandchild; and a great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned, with the Rev. Ken Walker officiating. Burial will be at the Larned cemetery. Juanita Zumalt

BROKEN BOW, OKLA. - Juanita Zumalt, 81, Broken Bow, passed away Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at Broken Bow. She was born Jan. 6, 1924, at Ada, Okla. Juanita owned and operated Roger's Cafe in Great Bend, Kan., for 40 years. She moved to Broken Bow in 1996, where she worked at the Beavers Bend Museum. She was preceded in death by her parents, Washington and Gertha Meadows Goodman; and her husband, Ira Zumalt, in 1993; two sons, Jerry Don and Billy Earl; four sisters; and one brother. Juanita is survived by her daughter, Connie Krentzel, Broken Bow; her son-in-law, Armando Vielma, Corsicana, Texas; her sister, Jean Able, Broken Bow; her granddaughters, Kim Cantwell and Torycl Makal, both of Corsicana, Texas; and a host of friends. Services were at 2 p.m. on March 1, 2005, at the Conley-White Funeral Chapel, Broken Bow. The Rev. Cletus Hawkins officiated. Interment followed in Broken Bow cemetery.

HAVILAND - Rose Marie Crosby, 63, died March 13, at Friendship Manor in Pratt. She was born July 21, 1941, at Waldo, the daughter of Wallace Wilbur and Eva Marie Bedard Crosby. A longtime resident of Haviland, she was retired and had worked in the used clothing and flea market business. She was of the Lutheran faith. Survivors include her mother and step-father, Eva and Robert Miller of Larned; three brothers, Jim Crosby of Larned, Gary Crosby of Medicine Lodge and Robert 'Bobby' Crosby of Gatesville, Texas; three sisters, Judy Kay Angell and Jane Ida Evans, both of Medicine Lodge and Crystal Shearer of Larned. Henry Rein on Oct. 13, 1932, at Bazine. He died Oct. 29, 1982. She was a homemaker and had lived in Bazine since 1967, before moving to Pueblo. Rein was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bazine. Survivors include one son, Clifford Rein of Garden City; two daughters, Angleta Lapka of Timken, and JoAnn Schlegel of Pueblo; three sisters, Elma Stieben of Bend, Ore., Marie Schamaun of Las Vegas, Nev., and Edna Dietz of Tumwater, Wash.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Gary Rein; two grandchildren, Kenneth Rein and Shannon Lapka; and four brothers, Peter Yaeger, Emanuel Yaeger, Frederick Yaeger, and August Yaeger.
