PRATT - Eva B. Daubert, 87, died Tuesday, March 8, at Pratt Regional Medical Center. born May 23, 1917, she was the daughter of the late H. G. and the late Daisey (Mulcahey) Corbert. She worked in registration at a state hospital. On Jan. 9, 1939, she married
Floyd Carl Johnson at Larned. He preceded her in death. She is survived by one daughter, Leona Johnston of Haviland; one stepdaughter, Peggy Scott; three stepsons, Randy, Rod, Jack; a sister, Irene Tucker of Montana; five grandchildren, Eva Jean Colclasure, Nancy Pinard, Willie Jones, Jonnie Johnson and Bobbie Henry; stepgrandchildren, Tina Rehme, Mark Henry Rehme, Rachael Daubert, Phillip Daubert; 12 great-grandchildren, Kyle Colclasure, Beth and Shon Pinard, Dustin Johnston, Dakota and Ryan Jones, Ashley, Cody, Trenton and Taylor Johnson, Mackenzie and Kaley Henry. She was preceded in death by her son, Carol Johnson; second husband, Herman Daubert; stepson, Jay Daubert; sisters, Lucille Reece and Faye Long; and brother, H.G. Corbert. Calling hours will be today and Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the mortuary. Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary in Pratt, with Steve Triplett officiating. LORRAINE - Loneva Mae Rathbun, 80, died March 8 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita. She was born Dec. 31, 1924, in Bristow, Okla., the daughter of Ocie Smith and Jesse Dillard. She married
Clyde Hap Rathbun on Dec. 3, 1942, in Ellsworth. She lived most of her life in Lorraine. She was a homemaker and a clerk at Paul Peters Grocery Store. Rathbun was a member of First Baptist Church in Lorraine. Survivors include her husband, Clyde Hap Rathbun of Lorraine; one daughter, Carol Walker of Brookville; two brothers, Charles Smith of New Mexico and Tommy Smith of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Charles Rathbun. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Lorraine, with the Rev. George Redington officiating. Burial will be at the Lorraine Baptist cemetery. HAYS - Raymond Holzmeister, age 95, died Monday, March 7, at Hays Medical Center in Hays. He was born Jan. 27, 1910, at Pfeifer, to Martin and Elizabeth (Heim) Holzmeister. He married
Helen Basgall on April 19, 1932, at Loretta. She died Jan. 26, 1951. A farmer and construction worker, he lived in Wichita and Great Bend before moving to Hays in 2004. Survivors include two daughters, Viola Dechant and her husband Herbert of Hays, and Elsie Suppes and her husband Julius of Otis; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Gus, and Daniel; two sisters, Helen Stramel and Bertha Quint; four infant brothers, John, Martin, Michael and Aloysius; and one infant sister, Ruth Holzmeister. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pfeifer. Burial will be at Holy Cross cemetery in Pfeifer. ST. JOHN - Virgie C. Sidman, 88, St. John, died March 5 at Leisure Homestead, St. John. She was born Dec. 25, 1916, at Hudson, the daughter of Herman and Agnes B. Clair Rose. She married
Orville Forrest Sidman on Aug. 17, 1933, at Pratt. He preceded her in death. She was a librarian at St. John for more than 30 years and a lifetime resident of St. John. Sidman was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Rebekah Lodge, both of St. John. Survivors include two sons, Maynard D. Sidman of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Gary R. Sidman of Great Bend; one daughter, Ronda J. Henderson of Wichita; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Orval Rose, Russell Rose and Donald Rose, and a sister, Lydia Delker. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Minnis Chapel, St. John, with Rev. W. Lucille 'Lou' Jurenka

LONGVIEW, TEXAS - Lucille '˜Lou' Jurenka was called to be with the Lord, March 4. Lou was born Sept. 24, 1911, in Ellsworth. She was the second child of Harry and Margaret Witters. She attended school in Bushton and married
Gilbert P. Jurenka of Holyrood on Dec. 25, 1932. She and her husband spent their child-rearing years in Kansas, later moving to Andrews, Texas, and then to Longview. Lou was a truly loving mother. She and Gib were ardent sports fans and drove many miles, following their son's athletic endeavors. Lou was also a very good golfer and won many tournaments in both Kansas and Texas. Lou loved God. She was a devoted member of the Greggton United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday School class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gib; her sister, Minnie Fiest; and her brothers, Dan and H. O. Witters. She is survived by her sons, Gilbert Jurenka and his wife, Shirley, of Rockport, Texas, and by Ronald and his wife, Jerry Anne Jurenka, of Longview, Texas; along with seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her special friend, Joyce Harley of Hallsville, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greggton United Methodist Church. Eva May Weller Strecker

OSBORNE - Eva May Weller Strecker was born Sept. 2, 1912, at Palco, the daughter of Webster and Iza Noah Weller. Her death occurred March 5 at the Parkview Care Center in Osborne at the age of 92 years, 6 months, and 3 days. On April 24, 1936, she was united in marriage to Ernest Frederick Strecker at Russell. Ernest and Eva shared over 67 years of married
life together. She grew up primarily in Kansas, living a short time in Colorado. She graduated from Paradise Rural High School in 1931. After her graduation she attended Emporia and Fort Hays College, getting her teaching certificate. She taught for a short time at a country school north of Paradise, and later at Fairport and Waldo. She lived most of her married
life on the family farm south of Paradise, later moving to Russell and then to care facilities in Hesston and Osborne, residing in Parkview Care Center in Osborne since April of 2003. She was a member of the Paradise United Methodist Church and worked as a youth leader, Sunday school teacher, United Methodist Women officer and served on numerous committees. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Russell County Teachers Association. Eva was actively involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren, attending their activities and sporting events. She loved gardening, handwork, baking and traveling. Eva is survived by two daughters, Mary Anderson of Osborne and Wanda Kay Augustine and her husband, Harold, of Great Bend; two sons, Albert Strecker and his wife Janice of Hutchinson and Glen Strecker and his wife Rhonda of Olathe; one brother, Dale Weller and his wife, Vi, of Great Bend; one half-brother, Randall Weller and his wife, Phyllis, of Hill City; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one step-great grandchild; and two step-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Bob Weller and Ralph Weller; and her husband Ernest Strecker. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today, March 8 at the Paradise United Methodist Church in Paradise with Pastor Chris Holtorf officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Herman cemetery in Paradise. White was a member of the United Methodist Church of Anthony and Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Gary White of Louisville, Ky., and Arden White of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one daughter, Joyce Boos of Great Bend; one sister, Nadine Roberts of Winfield; seven grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. PAWNEE ROCK - Evelyn M. Kroeker, 75, died March 5, 2005, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born April 27, 1929, in Great Bend, Kansas, to Leslie and Daisy Kimber Evers. She married
Marvin D. Kroeker, Oct. 28, 1948, in Great Bend, Kansas. They lived on a farm west of Pawnee Rock. She was a homemaker. After Marvin's death in 1974, she continued to manage and work the farm. Evelyn has been a resident at GBHRC since 1999. Evelyn was a member of the First Christian Church of Great Bend, member and officer of the Half Century Club FCE, a 4-H leader, and a member of The Cookie Cutter Collectors Club. Evelyn was also an Avon Sales representative. She enjoyed hobbies of cross stitching, needlepoint, baking and gardening. Survivors include two sons, Gary Kroeker of Towanda, Kansas, and Craig Kroeker of Pawnee Rock; one daughter, Karen Garrett of Great Bend; one brother, Merle Evers of Loveland, Colo.; and four grandchildren. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Evers. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at 10 a.m. at Bryant Funeral Home with the Pastor Gary Brooks officiating. Burial will be at Pawnee Rock cemetery. Visitation will be today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and from 9 a.m. till service time Wednesday, all at Bryant Funeral Home. MARYSVILLE - Robert Norman '˜Bob' Bennett, 75, died March 5, at the Cambridge Place in Marysville. He was born Feb. 3, 1930, at Garfield, the son of John Paul and Rosie Maude Kirkman Bennett. He married
Jane Williams on March 11, 1975, in McPherson. He lived most of his life in Great Bend, working in oil fields and doing construction work. He last worked at John Mansville Corporation in McPherson, retiring in 1983 after suffering a stroke. Bennett served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1953. Survivors include his wife of the home; his mother of Mt. Hope; three sons, Robert Bennett of Hollenberg, James Bennett of Seneca, and Leon Bennett of Hanover; two adopted daughters, Brenda Burlson and Julie Taylor, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; one stepson, Lonnie Williams of Hanover; one brother, Gene Bennett of Mt. Hope; one sister, Norma Lee Vettesse of Flippin, Ark.; and 13 grandchildren. Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Washington City cemetery, with the Rev. Wendell Sack officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Fort Riley Color Guard. A memorial fund has been established to be designated by the family at a later date. HOISINGTON - Joe Polzin, 83, died March 7, at his home. He was born Sept. 10, 1921, at Dubuque, the son of W. M. and Katherine Weber Polzin. He married
Dorothy M. Schremmer on May 12, 1942, at Beaver. He was a resident of Hoisington since 1971, moving from Dubuque. He was a farmer, oilfield roustabout and retired from Kansas Brick and Tile of Hoisington on June 26, 1987. Polzin was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus Council No. 1521, American Legion Post No. 286, all of Hoisington. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife of the home; five sons, Melvin Polzin, Thomas Polzin, Duane Polzin, and Randy Polzin, all of Hoisington, and Kevin Polzin of Galatia; three daughters, Delphine Hickey of Hoisington, Nancy Mater of Great Bend and Charlotte Hahn of Hanston; one sister, Lucille Weber of Ellinwood; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Jake Polzin, Rome Polzin, Wilfred 'Tuf' Polzin, John Polzin and Matt Polzin; and four sisters, Mary Robl, Clara Reif, Leonette Schremmer Tinkel and Margaret Haberman.
