WEXFORD, Pa. - Donald D. Eckert, 65, died Tuesday, April 19, at his home. He was born Sept. 18, 1939, in Red Oak, Iowa, the son of the late Leonard & Alice (Henning) Eckert. He is survived by his wife, Judy Coughlin; four children, Dee Lundqvist and her husband Par of Sweden, David Eckert of Webster, N.Y., Kim Coughlin of Richmond, Va., and Shelia Coughlin of Los Altos Hills, Calif.; a sister, Sharon Hicks and her husband Marvin of Great Bend; and two grandchildren, Mimmi and Jacob Lundqvist. No visitation. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, April 22, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, 2535 Rochester Rd., Cranberry Township, PA 16066. A 'Celebration of Life' reception will be held in Oldenski Hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Comfort Blanket Ministry at St. Ferdinand Church, 2535 Rochester Rd., Cranberry Twp., PA 16066 or Family Hospice, 250 Mt. Anna M. Sanders
1925 - 2005
Anna M. Sanders, 80, died April 19 at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe. She was born Feb. 15, 1925, in Kanorado, the daughter of Luther L. Sr. and Elsie Mae Aurner Mangus. She married Robert W. Sanders on Oct. 10, 1941, at Russell. He died in 1991. She was a lifetime Great Bend area resident and a homemaker. She was also a former Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader. Survivors include three sons, Robert L. Sanders and William W. Sanders, both of Great Bend, and Ralph M. Sanders of Bison; one daughter, Gloria J. Towner of Paola; two brothers, Luther L. Mangus, Jr. of Aurora, Colo., and Charles L. Mangus of Commerce City, Colo.; two sisters, Barbara Mason of Tucson, Ariz., and Virginia L. Payton of Kellerton, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Luther L. Sanders; one daughter, Margaret E. Smith; three brothers, Alva Dale Mangus, Harold Lee Mangus and Jay W. Mangus; and one sister, Gwendolyn Redding. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bryant Funeral Home, with the Rev. Don Paden officiating. Burial will be at the Hillcrest Memorial Park in Great Bend. Visitation will be Thursday from 1-9 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Pete O. Flores
1932 - 2005
Pete O. Flores passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2005, after a seven-year battle with Alzheimer's disease. born on April 26, 1932, in Fresnillo Zacatecas, Mexico, he started working at the age of 9 in the family candy-making business to help support his family after his father passed away. He taught himself to read and write English. He settled in Great Bend in approximately 1955, and worked for Kansas Brick & Tile for over 40 years, rarely missing a day of work. He and his wife, Florence, raised two of his brothers, a niece, six sons and one daughter. He was a devoted family man who instilled the importance of education and a strong work ethic in all of his children. He lived his life with a strong sense of balance, believing in everything in moderation. He had a great sense of humor, a love for all kinds of music and a pretty decent singing voice. He enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, cooking, gardening, playing horseshoes and watching sports, especially baseball and boxing. In 1999, after he and his wife, Florence, were diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, they moved to Wichita to live with their daughter and stayed there for a year and a half. Finally, in 2001, he and his wife moved to Bethesda Home in Goessel, adding the Bethesda staff to their family. He is preceded in death by his wife, Florence; his granddaughter, Annette Raulsten; a brother, David Flores; and two sisters, Lupe and Manuela Flores. Left behind to honor the memory of a life well lived are his children and their families: Jim and Margo Raulsten of Wichita, Kan., and Clint Raulsten of Chicago, Ill.; Jim, Sandy, Somerlyn and Bryant Flores of Salt Lake City, Utah; David and Beatrice Flores of Bakersfield, Calif.; Joseph, Keiko and Emily Flores of Honolulu, Hawaii/Wichita, Kan.; Rick, Theresa, Jacob and Hannah Flores; Matt Cervantes and Joses Delgado of Derby, Kan.; Ed, Jessica and Sofie Flores of Salina, Kan., and Victor and Blake Flores and Mercedes Smith of Great Bend, Kan. He is also survived by his niece Teresa Sleefe of Wichita and his brothers Roberto Flores of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; John Flores of Victorville, Calif., and Tony Flores of Honolulu; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend, with Father Ted Stoecklein officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend cemetery in Great Bend. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Bethesda Home in Goessell or Hospice Care of Kansas in Newton, in care of the funeral home. Charles E. Dole
1939 - 2005
QUINCY, Wash. - Charles E. Dole was born to William Humphrey and Demma Baker Dole in Hutchinson, Kan., on Oct. 12, 1939. He was 65 when he joined his parents, sister Jeannette, son Mark and grandson Tucker Joe in death on April 12, 2005. He was raised in Kansas, and attended high school in Augusta, where he was a star quarterback. Chuck's first wife was Sybil Gallagher. They married on Nov. 16, 1957, to which union six children were born. They were married close to 18 years. Three more children were added to the family when Chuck married Carol Jacks on June 17, 1977. Chuck and Carol enjoyed nearly 28 years of marriage before he passed away. He spent time in the U.S. Navy, and then had jobs in law enforcement, as a country music guitarist; worked for Les Schwab Tires and opened the first Goodyear Tire Store in Quincy called Cascade Tires. He worked for Radio Shack and ran an appliance repair business. Chuck and Carol opened '˜Hard Luck Charlie's Cafe' in Mansfield, Wash. Returning to Quincy, Chuck and Carol opened Dole Produce and Seafood. For hobbies, Chuck enjoyed fishing and playing his guitar. All of the children remember how much fun it was to sit around a campfire and listen to their Dad play and sing. Chuck coached little league baseball in Quincy for approximately 10 years. He tried to instill his love of all sports in the kids and grandkids. He was proud of their accomplishments. He had a spiritual experience a couple of years ago while in rehab after surgery that he shared with Hank. He saw himself in a long line of people that were waiting to go to purgatory. He looked over at the line for heaven and noticed that it was much shorter. He wanted to come back from that experience so that he could get out of the line he was in and into the line for heaven. A change was noticed in his dad after that. Chuck leaves his wife Carol of the home in Quincy, his sister Diane of Texas, his children and their families: Stacy and Darwin Ferguson of Great Bend, Kan. Their five children and six grandchildren: Israel Barrera and children: Britny, Sebastian and Ariel of Hoisington, Kan. Amber Elliot and children: Jayden and Breckyn of Wichita, Kan. Brandy and her daughter Haylee of Salina, Kan. Derrick and Dustin of the home in Great Bend, Charlene Agripino and her husband Robbie of Benton City, Wash. Mike and wife Tracey and their children: Will, Levi, Garth, Logan, Kathleen and Laura of Tenseed, Idaho. Hank and his wife Patty and their daughter Maytaya of Wenatchee, Wash. Jennifer Robin Koopman with her children Tara, Jacob and Zach of Benton City, Wash. Todd and his wife Carlota of Quincy and their children Thomas and granddaughter of Tri Cities, Wash., William of the home and Carrie and her children of California. Dustin of Yakima, Wash. Angela (Angie) and her husband Tony Michael Garces and boys: Tygar and K ain of Wenatchee. Sisterin-law Jane and friend Dave of the home in Quincy. Many friends, nieces, and nephews. A memorial service was held on April 15, 2005, at Quincy Valley cemetery, Quincy, Wash. At his request, Chuck's ashes were laid to rest at the foot of his parent's graveside.

Eugene Linenberger
1930 - 2005
BELTON, Mo. - Eugene Henry Linenberger, 75, died April 3. He was born Feb. 11, 1930, at Liebenthal, the son of Alex and Anna (Randa) Linenberger. He was a former resident of Albert, where he was employed for 40 years by the Farmers State Bank & Trust. After retirement, he moved to Belton where he assisted at the Foxwood Springs Living Center for 15 years. He was a member of St. Sabina Church, a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree member. A veteran, he served two years in the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Vernita; two daughters, Gail Schmidt and her husband Dennis of Peculiar, Mo., and Gloria Barlow and her husband Keith of Fort Collins, Colo.; two grandchildren, Jared Barlow and Meagan Schmidt. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Sylvester Linenberger; and one sister, Marie Holmes. Mass of Christian burial was held April 7 at the St. Sabina Church in Belton. Burial will be at Mt. Moriah cemetery. Arrangements are by Mt. Moriah and Freeman Chapel.

Maxine Kratzer
1918 - 2005
KANOPOLIS - Maxine Kratzer, 86, died April 16 at Ellsworth County Medical Center, in Ellsworth. She was born Dec. 3, 1918, at Junction City, the daughter of John W. and Nell C. Powell Smith. She married Bernard Kratzer on Dec. 21, 1937, at Frederich. He died Aug. 10, 1990. A resident of Lorraine until 1976, when she moved to Kanopolis, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Kratzer was a member of the United Methodist Church in Kanopolis. Survivors include one son, Larry Kratzer of Holyrood; one daughter, Sharon Schears of Buena Vista, Colo.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Parsons Funeral Home in Ellsworth., with Dr. Jim Morford officiating. Burial will be at the Ellsworth cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the funeral home, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Memorials are suggested to the church. Rick F. Perez
1950 - 2005
LARNED - Rick F. Perez, 54, died April 18 at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Larned. He was born Oct. 5, 1950, at Great Bend, the son of Bartolo R. and Florentina Marie Vicyra Perez. He married Debora M. Fox on March 2, 1985, at Larned. A Larned resident since 1968, moving from St. John, he was employed by the City of Larned. Perez attended the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Larned. Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, David Perez of Great Bend and Ryan Perez of Larned; one daughter, Michelle Perez of Great Bend; three brothers, Rudy Perez of Sedgwick, and Lawrence Perez and Daniel Perez, both of Great Bend; one sister, Ramona L. Perez of Great Bend; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Perez; and one sister, Rachel Perez. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the mortuary with the Rev. Dan Lundgren officiating. Burial will be at the Larned cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Wednesday at the mortuary. Lawrence Edgar 'Pete' Ross
1922 - 2005
Lawrence Edgar 'Pete' Ross, 82, of Great Bend, died April 16 at Harry Hynes Hospice in Wichita. He was born Nov. 17, 1922, at Hays, the son of Frank and Andrea Meier Ross. He married Mildred M. Gerstner on Jan. 29, 1945, at Hays. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and later worked for Sun Oil Well Cementing, Leben Drilling Co. and eventually became co-owner of Reed Pipe Testing Company. He had been a resident of Great Bend since 1956, coming from Hays. Pete was a member of the Great Bend Catholic Community at St. Patrick and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Norbert Ross, Lewis Ross, Richard Ross and Francis Ross, and one sister, Mary Ellen Fromm. Pete was known to be a loving family man. Family always was first for him. Kind in spirit, he was very generous to anyone who needed his help. His dedication to God was evident in every facet of his life. Those who knew him derived inspiration from his good character, honesty, intelligence and wry sense of humor. Pete will be missed by many. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Ross of the home; two sons, Larry Ross and wife Sue of Longwood, Fla., and Patrick Ross and wife Sandy of North Kingstown, R.I.; two daughters, Geraldine Bostrom and husband David of Worland, Wyo., and Janet Rine and husband Grant of Wichita; one brother, Alex Ross of Hays; one sister, Irene Hauser of Lewisville, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Jason and wife Heather Ross, Amanda Ross, Thomas Michael Ross, Paul Kelley, Brian Kelley, Preston Bostrom, and Kelly Ross; and two great-grandchildren, Declan Ross and Kaitlyn Bostrom. Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. today, April 19, at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Funeral mass with be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend, with Father Reginald Urban officiating. Burial will be at the Kansas Veterans cemetery in WaKeeney at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday with military honors by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Jenny Lynn Jesseph
1979 - 2005
CHASE - Jenny Lynn Jesseph, 25, died April 15, near Lyons as the result of an automobile accident. She was born Dec. 25, 1979, at Lyons, the daughter of Carl and Robin Patterson Jesseph. She graduated from Chase High School in 1998 and then attended Barton County Community College. She was a lifetime resident of Chase and a cook at the Chase Cafe. Survivors include one son, Dalton Lee Rose of the home; her parents, Carl and Robin Jesseph of Chase; two sisters, Lacey Jesseph of Lyons and Roxie Jesseph of Chase; one grandfather, Dee Jesseph of Miami, Okla.; and one grandmother, Joanne Patterson of Chase. She was preceded in death by one grandfather, Robert Patterson; and one grandmother, Peggy Jesseph. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sillin Funeral Home in Lyons with Johnnie Hardie officiating. Burial will be at the Raymond Hilltop cemetery in Raymond. Visitation will be at 2-7 p.m. Monday at Sillin Funeral in Lyons. Memorials are suggested to the Dalton Lee Rose Education Fund.
