PAWNEE ROCK - Ora Kenneth Hudson, 85, died Jan. 3 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born in rural Greenwood County, the son of Harvey H. and Nille Mae Osborn Hudson. He married Emma Jane Bruce July 22, 1939, at Cottonwood Falls. She died Aug. 2, 2003. A resident of Pawnee Rock since 1996, coming from Hanston, he was a retired self-employed mechanic. He attended Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall of Larned. Survivors include one sister, Avis Fern Werner of Rogers, Ark. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Morell Funeral Home in Larned with Butch T. Espinosa officiating. Burial will be at Pawnee Rock cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society Relay for Life or the church, both in care of the funeral home.

Dale H. Stinson
1915-2004
ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Dale H. Stinson, 88, died Jan. 2 at St. Louis. He was born June 21, 1915, at Milton, the son of Ralph and Margaret Stinson. He married Naida Sept. 2, 1938, at Topeka. She preceded him in death. A resident of Topeka, coming from Wilson, he was owner and operator of the Wilson World Newspaper until 1954 and Wilson postmaster, retiring in 1980. Survivors include one son, Terry Stinson of Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter, Jean Naney of St. Louis; one brother, Lee Stinson of Dodge City; three granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter. Memorial service will be at a later date at Wilson Methodist Church with inurnment at Wilson cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Wilson Methodist Church, P.O. Box 459, Wilson KS 67490. Keiegshauser West Mortuary in St. Louis is in charge of the arrangements.

Barry Lee Pruner
1948-2003
LaMESA, Calif. - Barry Lee Pruner, 55, died Dec. 26 at his home in LaMesa. He was born Dec. 27, 1948, at Stafford, the son of Lee and Rosie Heyen Pruner. He was a 1967 graduate of Ellinwood High School and attended Fort Hays State University. He married Kathy Bills in the early 1970s. She died in the 1980s. He later married Susan L. Clinton Nov. 3, 1984. A resident of San Diego, Calif., since 1970, coming from Ellinwood, he was an engineer for SBC Communications for 30 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. Survivors include his wife of the home; one stepson, Jeffrey Clinton of San Diego; and one sister, Susan Curtiss of Ellinwood. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jim Pruner. Military graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Greenwood Memorial Park in San Diego. A local remembrance gathering will be at 4 p.m. Jan. 11 at the home of Joe and Susan Curtiss, 315 E. 1st, Ellinwood. Memorials are suggested to Center for Basic Research at Kansas State University, in care of Kimple Funeral Home of Ellinwood.

Florence '˜Flo' Crabtree
1934-2004
Florence 'Flo' Crabtree, 69, of Great Bend, died Jan. 1 at her home. She was born May 15, 1934, at North West River, Province, Newfoundland Labrador, Canada, the daughter of Harvey and Sevilla Campbell Goudie. She married J.W. Crabtree Dec. 14, 1957, at St. Louis, Mo. A resident of Great Bend, she was a cashier. Survivors include her husband of the home; one daughter, Audrey Powers; two brothers, Spencer Goudie and Roland Goudie, both of Canada; one sister, Veronica Fudge of Canada; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. Funeral will be held at a later date in Canada. Charter Funerals of Great Bend is in charge of arrangements.

Foster L. 'Cope' Copeland
1913 - 2004
Foster L. 'Cope' Copeland, 90 of Great Bend, died Jan. 2. Mr. Copeland was born on August 15, 1913, at Ponca City, Okla, The son of John B. and Lorraine Snider Copeland. He married Joy L. Leake on Jan. 10, 1947 at Opelousas, La. She preceded him in death on Dec. 10, 1998. Copeland was a member of the First Christian Church, the Elks Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Sunflower Polka Club, all of Great Bend. He resided in Great Bend for the past 50 years having moved from Larned. Copeland was a Drilling Supervisor for D.R. Lauck. Survivors include one daughter, Billie McVey of Great Bend; one sister, Mary Smith of Ponca City; one grandson, Lee McVey of Great Bend; one nephew, John Gary Smith of Holt, Mich; four nieces, Janell Smith of Highland Ranch, Colo., Marsha Siler, Kathy Juckes, and Lisa Hisey, all of Ponca City; seven great-nieces, four great nephews, , three great- great-nieces and five great- great-nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1;30 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at the Great Bend cemetery. Memorials may be given to the church or the Great Bend Humane Society, in care of Hays-Christians Funeral Home, P.O. Box 386, Lindsborg, KS 67456. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church, 5230 Broadway Ave.

Kenneth Lee Harris
1946-2004
HAYS - Kenneth Lee Harris, 57, died Jan. 1 at Hays Medical Center. He was born Dec. 19, 1946, at Claremore, Okla., the son of Burl and Anita Record Harris. He married Diane Harrison Dec. 30, 1966, at Plainville. A resident of Hays, he was a farmer. Harris was a member of First United Methodist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars, both of Hays, and Masonic Lodge of Plainville. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Greg Harris of Hutchinson and Mitch Harris of Hays; his parents of Plainville; three brothers, Tom Harris and Bob Harris, both of Great Bend, and Gerry Harris of Topeka; three sisters, Jacquie Meitler of Glenwood Springs, Colo., Patty Harris of Wichita and Dorothy Schmidt of Topeka; and four grandchildren. Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be at Plainville City cemetery with full military honors by Fort Riley Funeral Honor Guard. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Hays Memorial Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the church in Hays or First Christian Church in Plainville, both in care of Hays Memorial Chapel.

Ethel M. Campbell
1906-2004
RUSSELL - Ethel M. Campbell, 97, died Jan. 1 at Wheatland Nursing Center. She was born Feb. 3, 1906, in Rush County, the daughter of Conrad H. and Mayme E. Albright Kaiser. She married Glenn Campbell Dec. 23, 1929, at La Crosse. He died Sept. 26, 1961. A resident of Russell, coming from Great Bend, she was a country school teacher in Rush County, an office manager for Wiley's Department Store, and a hostess and cashier for Suitors Country Restaurant, all of Great Bend. Survivors include one son, Richard 'Dick' Campbell of Russell; two brothers, Carl Kaiser of Hutchinson and Delbert Kaiser of Oakland, Calif.; and one granddaughter. She was preceded in death by three brothers. No services will be held at this time. The body will be cremated and a private family burial service will be held at a later date at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Great Bend. Russell Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Helen L. Green
1917-2004
Helen L. Green, 86, of Great Bend, died Jan. 2 at Hutchinson Hospital. She was born Feb. 24, 1917, at rural Great Bend, the daughter of Benjamine and Minnie Mead McMullen. She was a 1935 graduate of Frankfort High School in Frankfort, Ind. A lifetime area resident, she was office manager for Gibson Discount and secretary at Fuller Brush until her retirement. She was a member of the Protestant faith, women's bowling league and Cheyenne Bottoms Sportsman Club, all of Great Bend. Survivors include one daughter, Judy Christiansen of Great Bend; two sisters, Evelyn Wilson of Dayton, Ohio, and Gladys Woodrow of Great Bend; two step-grandsons; and five stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Cecil McMullen, Jim McMullen, Edward McMullen and Benjamin McMullen; and six sisters, Eileen McIver, Theresa McMullen, Elizabeth Sheen, Pauline Cooper, Dorothy Cole and Josephine Madison. There is no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Barton County Relay for Life, in care of Bryant Funeral Home of Great Bend.

Blanche A. Soukup
1913 - 2004
WILSON - Blanche A. Soukup, 90, of Wilson, died Jan. 2 at Salina Regional Health Center in Salina. She was born Dec. 1, 1913 at Wilson to Charles and Blanche Lilak Malir. A lifetime resident of the Dorrance/Wilson area she was a homemaker. She married Louis Soukup. He preceded her in death in 1982. Mrs. Soukup was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Altar Society, and Daughters of Isabella all of Wilson. Survivors include one son Alvin Soukup of Dorrance, one daughter Vera Ehrlich of Wilson, 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son Roy Soukup, and one grandson Alvin Soukup Jr. Vigil will be at 4 p.m. today at the parish. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Jerome Morgan officiating. Burial will be held at St. Wenceslaus Catholic cemetery in Wilson. Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Foster Mortuary in Wilson. Memorials are suggested to the St. Wenceslaus Church Improvement Fund in care of the mortuary.

Katharyne D. Eberhart
1919-2004
Katharyne D. Eberhart, 84, homemaker, of Great Bend, passed into the arms of her Lord Jesus Jan. 1 at the Catholic Care Center in Wichita. She was born April 30, 1919, at Pearsonia, Okla., the daughter of Charles L. and Fern G. Schultz Hess. She married Marvin E. Eberhart June 10, 1939, at Ellinwood. He died Nov. 13, 1993. She lived in Wichita the last 4 1/2 years. She was a homemaker and had lived most of her life in Great Bend and was active in Trinity Lutheran Church. Survivors include one son, Max Eberhart and his wife, Nina, of Wichita; one daughter, Marva Eberhart of Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Margaret Damon of Great Bend; grandchildren, Jason Eberhart and his wife, Tara, of Wichita, Jill Simmons and her husband, David, of Atlanta, Ga., and Vanessa Pollock and her husband, Charlie, of New Jersey; great-grandchildren, Keaton Eberhart, Reece Eberhart and Hudson Pollock; and nephews, Donald Damon and Kenneth Damon, both of Great Bend. Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend, with the Rev. Jeffrey Crane officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time Monday, all at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church of Great Bend, Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Wichita or Catholic Care Center of Wichita, in care of the funeral home.

Beulah Marie Baines
1917-2003 LARNED - Beulah Marie Baines, 86, died Dec. 29 at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Larned. She was born June 19, 1917, at Rose Hill, the daughter of Walter Theodore and Dora Carlena Goodman Rountree. She married Harold Baines Sept. 26, 1960, at Junction City. He died Oct. 4, 1997. A resident of Larned since 1998, she was a homemaker. Survivors include two sons, Frank Wedge of Larned and Jimmie Baines of Manhattan; one granddaughter and three great-grandchildren. Cremation took place and the family will have a memorial service at a later date. Morell Funeral Home in Larned is in charge of arrangements.

Eileen R. Morrill
1914-2003
LARNED - Eileen R. Morrill, 89, died Dec. 25 at Larned Healthcare Center in Larned. She was born July 6, 1914, at Wichita, the daughter of John Charles and Gladys Edna Leper Rose. She married Amos Dickerson Dec. 24, 1937, at Fort Worth, Texas. He died July 1973. She married Ernest Albert Morrill Dec. 19, 1974, at Galesburg, Ill. He died Jan. 27, 2002. A resident of Larned since 1998, coming from Texas, she was a retired school teacher and homemaker. Survivors include one son, Edgar Dean Dickerson of Garrison, Iowa; one daughter, Gwenda Thomas of Toddville, Iowa; two brothers; two sisters; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and there are no services planned. Memorials may be sent to Larned Heathcare Center in care of Morell Funeral Home in Larned.
