ST. JOHN - Dana Marie Gilbert Knappenberger, 43, died Feb. 22 at Stafford District Hospital. She was born Jan. 13, 1961, at Lawrence, the daughter of Verlin and Suzanne Sandusky Gilbert. She was a 1979 graduate of Lawrence High School and received her bachelor of science degree from the University of Kansas in 1983. She married Don J. Knappenberger Nov. 22, 1992, at Lawrence. A resident of St. John for 12 years, coming from Lawrence, she was a mathematics teacher at USD 350 St. John Junior and Senior High School and had previously taught school at Sunset Elementary School in Lawrence. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, a Sunday school teacher, church youth ministry coordinator, United Methodist Women, Parent Teachers Organization, Hesperian Club, a 4-H leader, Ida Long Goodman Library Board and a coach for youth soccer, basketball and t-ball, all of St. John. Survivors include her husband of the home; one son, Tyler Hammond of St. John; one daughter, Kaylea Knappenberger of St. John; her parents of Lawrence; one brother, Darren Gilbert of Lawrence; and one sister, Sharna Miller of Lawrence. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Robbie Fall officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Park cemetery in St. John. Friends may sign the book from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Minnis Chapel in St. John. The casket will be closed. Roy L Lindsey

Roy L. Lindsey, 67, of Great Bend, died Feb. 22 at Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita. He was born July 26, 1936, at Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Roy Elmer and Marie Hodgen Lindsey. He married Rose Ann Hoadley Oct. 9, 1954, at Great Bend. She died April 17, 2001. He was a resident of Great Bend since 1947. Lindsey was a member of First United Baptist Church and Eagles, both of Great Bend. Survivors include his companion, Joyce Tauscher of Great Bend; one son, Roy Leon Lindsey Jr. of Leavenworth; four daughters, Nina Dove and Donona Howard, both of Cottonwood, Ariz., Teresa Seachris of Great Bend and Sharon Bieberle of Larned; three sisters, Joyce Koons of Lindsborg, Sue Snider of Denison, Texas, and Sandy Monroe of Great Bend; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Joan Johnson. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend, with the Rev. Dr. Doyle Smith officiating. Darren Robert Wornkey, 24, of Great Bend, died Feb. 21 at Great Bend. He was born Nov. 20, 1979, at Great Bend, the son of Steven Ray Sr. and Rebecca 'Becky' Sue Sander Wornkey. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, he was formerly employed by the Holiday Inn of Great Bend. Survivors include one son, Nicholas Ray Wornkey of Great Bend; one daughter, Heaven Marie Wornkey of Great Bend; his parents of Great Bend; grandfather, Gilbert J. Sander of Great Bend; and three brothers, Steven Ray Wornkey Jr., Alan Lee Wornkey and Chad Dale Wornkey, all of Great Bend. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy and Maxine Wornkey; his grandmother, Joyce M. Sander; and one uncle, Jim Sander. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend, with the Rev. Don Paden officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend cemetery. Marty J. Lampe
1963-2004
JETMORE - Marty J. Lampe, 40, died Feb. 22 at his home. He was born June 18, 1963, at Wichita, the son of Quentin 'Bud' and Eunice Pitts Lampe. He married Kris Litzenberger July 19, 1984, in Jetmore. A lifetime resident of Jetmore, he worked for the city of Jetmore. Lampe was a member of United Methodist Church and Sons of American Legion, both of Jetmore. Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Kelsey Lampe and Kyra Lampe, both of the home; his mother of Jetmore; two brothers, Delane Lampe and John McKivergan, both of Jetmore; and two sisters, Tavanna Pesicka of Otis and Janice Smith of Salina. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Mitch Reece officiating. Burial will be at Fairmount cemetery in Jetmore. John P. Harrington Sr.
1914-2004
FRANKFORT - John P. Harrington Sr., 89, died Feb. 19 at Community Memorial Health Care in Marysville. He was born April 17, 1914, on a farm N.E. of Blaine, the son of Phil and Ellen Cummings Harrington. He graduated from Blaine High School in 1932. He married Ellen G. McCoy Dec. 3, 1936. A resident of Frankfort, he was a timekeeper on several WPA projects in Marshall County from 1936 to 1940, was an employee at the supply depot in Topeka in the 1940s and was the Standard Oil agent in Frankfort for 31 years. Harrington was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus of Lillis. He was loyal to his family, his religion and his Irish heritage. He was a lifelong Democrat. Survivors include his wife of the home; five sons, Harold Harrington and David Harrington, both of Kansas City, Phil Harrington and Charlie Harrington, both of Frankfort and Dennis Harrington of Cornwall, England; four daughters, Kathleen Borck and Susan Colglazier, both of Larned, Peggy Harrington of Topeka and Rita Harrington of Seattle, Wash.; one brother, Louis Harrington of Blaine; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Irene, Regina and Helen; one brother, Richard Harrington; a granddaughter, Tami Borck; and a son-in-law, John Colglazier. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at the church. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Bill Bruning officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetary in Frankfort. Geneva G. Jones
1920-2004
DODGE CITY - Geneva G. Jones, 83, died Feb. 18 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. She was born Sept. 9, 1920, at Great Bend, the daughter of Walter J. and Gracie M. Speck Gregg. She graduated from Great Bend High School and received her registered nursing degree from Halstead Hospital and Hartzler Clinic in Halstead. She married Earl K. Harman in June of 1946. She later married Laurin W. Jones Sept. 9, 1978, in Dodge City. He preceded her in death June 13, 1999. A longtime Dodge City resident, she was a RN at Trinity Hospital and later Dodge City Regional Hospital. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Tri Phi Sunday School Class, was an altar steward for over 30 years, was on the church Board of Trustees, United Methodist Women, Kansas State Nurses Association, Florence Nightengale Retired Nurses, Past president of Parent Teachers Association of Northwest Elementary School of Dodge City, Dodge City Women's Chamber of Commerce and a volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Drives. Survivors include one son, Earl L. 'Beanie' Harman of Dodge City; two daughters, the Rev. Georgia Gay Harris of Chicago, Ill, and Mari A. Wright of Salisbury, N.C.; one sister, Rosa May Denney of Bella Vista, Ark.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with Dr. Michael F.Gardner and the Revs. Dick Robbins and Georgia Gay Harris officiating. Burial will be at Greencrest cemetery in Dodge City. LARNED - Ivee Nicole Murphy, 4 months, died Feb. 20 at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Larned. She was born Sept. 27, 2003, at Great Bend, the daughter of Marcus D. and Kimberley Edwards Murphy. Survivors include her parents of Larned; one brother, Evan of the home; one sister, Asia of the home; grandparents, Fred Murphy and Sandra Edwards, both of Larned, Karen Love of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Kenneth Edwards of Pawnee Rock; great-grandparents, Lawrence and Lillie Edwards of Wichita and Barbara Buckingham of Oxford, England; and great-great grandmother, Anna Bell Brewer of Larned. Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Morell Funeral Home in Larned with the Rev. William Harden officiating. Burial will be at Larned cemetery. LARNED - Anna Antonia Kraus, 67, died Feb. 20 at her home in Larned. She was born Jan. 7, 1937, in rural Dodge City, Hodgeman County, the daughter of Adolph Gustav and Antonia Wilhelmenia Brazda Rabenseifner. She was a 1954 graduate of Larned High School. A longtime resident of Larned, she was a retired licensed mental health technician at Larned State Hospital. She was a member of the Lutheran faith and Eagles Lodge of Great Bend. Survivors include one son, Will Keller of Larned; three daughters, Kathryn White Gevara, Coletta White Mogbo and Lurene Keller, all of Garden City; one brother, Edward Rabenseifner of St. John; one sister, Elizabeth Fleske of Larned; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Jaja Mogbo. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Morell Funeral Home in Larned with the Rev. Don Paden officiating. Burial will be at Belpre cemetery. Margaret Lillian Marlett Durler
1928-2004
LARNED - Margaret Lillian Marlett Durler, 76, a resident of Larned since June 2002 and a former resident of Great Bend, died Feb. 21 at Larned Health Care Center. She was born Feb. 2, 1928, on the Salmans Homestead in Hodgeman County. The youngest of six chidren of Della Kolita Salmans Marlett and James Vurnel Marlett, she spent her early childhood on the Salmans Farm outside of Burdett until the family moved to Larned where she attended school, graduating from Larned High School in 1946. During her teen years, she worked at Lynch Drug Store. She married John Jacob Durler Jr. Jan. 9, 1947, at the old Sacred Heart Church in Larned. They lived in Larned until the fall of 1957 when they moved to Great Bend. During the 1960's Margaret was employed by the Pastry Shop in Great Bend. Margaret also served as den mother and spent many hours working for the Girl Scouts as well as St. Rose Altar Society. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, John on Dec. 31, 1994, and by her brothers, James Alton Marlett and his wife Emma Hagerman Marlett, L.E. 'Mick' Marlett, Delmar Allen Marlet, John William Marlett and his wife Betty Brack Marlett; her sister, Viola Mae Marlett Kirchgassner and her husband William Kirchgassner; and one grandchild, Sharen Jo Durler. Immediate family survivors include R. Steven and Janice Durler, Stanley J. and Lee Durler of Larned; S. Michael and Debra Durler of Great Bend, Sharen Durler Pflughoeft of Eufaula, Okla.; three grandchildren, Angela Durler (Kenneth) Jensen of Clute, Texas, Jamie Durler of Manhattan and Jodie Durler of Leavenworth; four step-grandchildren, John Cole of Branson, Mo., Travis Bradford of Topeka, Tina Pflughoeft (Keith) Firgens of Dallas, Texas, Lisa Pflughoeft (Todd) Goetz of Wichita; three great-grandchidren, Nathan and Mathew Jensen of Clute and MaKayla Cole of Branson; and one maternal aunt, Dencie Rakes (Leonard 'Sam') Salmans of Ness City. Surviving in-laws include Alma Smeltzer 'Mick' Marlett of Larned, Mary Ann Jacobson of Greeley, Colo., Ed Higgins of Denver, Teresa and Chuck Williamson of Albuquerque, N.M., Susie (Quintin) Penka of Alamagordo, N.M., and Nathan and Al Penka of Eau Claire, Wis. A celebration of life memorial and rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Beckwith Mortuary in Larned. Funeral mass will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Dennis Reed officiating. Burial will be at Larned cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m to 8 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, all at the funeral home. A memorial in care of the funeral home has been established at Larned Health Care Center for the continued care and comfort of residents. LARNED - Hazel 'Toots' Lucille Fisher, 82, died Feb. 21 at Leisure Homestead in St. John. She was born Jan. 11, 1922, in rural Belpre the daughter of James and Minnie Liles Tranbarger. She married Keith Fisher Nov. 21, 1937, at Fellsburg. A lifetime resident of Larned, she was a homemaker. She was a member of Macksville Christian Church and Christian Womens Fellowship, both of Macksville. Survivors include six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald Bruce Fisher and Galen Fisher; and one brother, Donald Tranbarger. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Carey Haner officiating. Burial will be at Farmington cemetery in Macksville. Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at Minnis Chapel in St. John and from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Minnis Chapel in Macksville. G.O. 'Gib' Hauser, 92, of Great Bend, died Feb. 18 at Central Kansas Medical Center of Great Bend. He was born May 28, 1911, at Ellinwood, the son of Ernest and Anna Lebbin Hauser. He married Lillian Klusener. He married Fern Harman Sept. 26, 1936. She died Dec. 22, 1997. A resident of Great Bend since 1936, living in Barton County most of his life, he was a salesman for Home Improvements. Hauser was a member of First Christian Church and Elks Lodge, both of Great Bend, and Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame of Colorado Springs, Colo. Survivors include two daughters, Elmaleda McMinn of Emporia and Wanda Komarek of Great Bend; one brother, Floyd Hauser of Great Bend; one sister, Evelyn Davis of Wichita; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Vernon Hauser; one sister, Dorothy Hancock; and one grandson, Jim McMinn. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the church with the Rev. William F. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Lakin-Comanche District cemetery in Ellinwood. Memorials are suggested to the church in care of the funeral home.
