ELLINWOOD - Aline Koelsch, 83, died Feb. 3 at Ellinwood District Hospital. She was born Jan. 9, 1921, at Wewoka, Okla., the daughter of Oliver and Stella Streeter Baxter. She married Philip H. Koelsch Jan. 17, 1947, at Ellinwood. He died Dec. 30, 2002. A resident of Ellinwood, she was a bookkeeper for Magnolia Oil, Thompson Construction, Manning Drilling, Easter Pipeline and S & H Feeders and she prepared income tax returns. She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ and Duplicate Bridge Club. Survivors include one son, Henry O. Koelsch of Long Beach, Calif.; one daughter, Barbara Blubaugh of Medford, Okla.; one brother, Jim Baxter of Nickerson; and four gandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Tom Baxter and Jack Baxter. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Larry Young officiating. Burial will be at LakinComanche District cemetery in Ellinwood. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Kimple Funeral Home in Ellinwood. Delton H. Evers
1938-2004
Delton H. Evers, 65, of Great Bend, died Feb. 4 at Central Kansas Medical Center at Great Bend. She was born Feb. 9, 1938, at Great Bend, the son of Harley Ray and Ruth Elizabeth Alefs Evers. He married Jean Nieses June 4, 1988, at Wichita. A resident of Great Bend most of his life, he was co-owner and custom fabricator for J & D Inc. and was involved in farming. He was a member of First Christian Church and Elks Lodge, both of Great Bend; American Legion of Larned, past president of Great Bend Jaycees and a Boy Scout of America volunteer. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Robert H. Evers of Great Bend; two step-sons, Dean Weir of Dallas, Texas, and Steve Weir of Valley Center; three daughters, Kathy Evers and Kala Linenberger, both of Great Bend, and Karla Degner of Hutchinson; one step-daughter, Brenda Chandler of Valley Center; his father Harley Evers of Great Bend; one brother, David Evers of Great Bend; one sister, Delores Piper of Missouri City, Texas; 20 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. William F. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park cemetery in Great Bend. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. David Wayne '˜Rattler' Gillett

LARNED - David Wayne 'Rattler' Gillett, 56, died Feb. 2 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita, as the result of an ice-related accident at Pawnee Rock. He was born Sept. 1, 1947, at Larned, the son of Chester Earl and Olga Rose Lueck Gillett. He married Dianna Fae Otte May 30, 1998, in rural Galva. She died Feb. 2, 2002. A lifetime resident of Larned, he was a truck driver for Ward Feed Yard since Aug. 27, 1979, and was also known as 'Rattler' (CB Handle.) He was of the Christian faith and a member of Sons of the American Legion of Larned. Survivors include three sons, Gary Wayne of Belpre, Brian Wayne of Larned and Eric Lee of Manhattan; his mother, Olga Gillett of Larned; and one grandson. He was preceded in death by his father and one son, Steven Wayne Gillett. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Morell Funeral Home in Larned with Pastor Ronald D. Day officiating. Pauline E. Wildgen
1908-2004
LARNED - Pauline E. Wildgen, 96, died Feb. 3 at her home in Larned. She was born June 3, 1907, at Larned, the daughter of Ray Getty and Dollie R. Bach Yeager. She belonged to Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society, Fort Larned Historical Society and Prairie Arts Unlimited, all of Larned, and past member of Gray Ladies at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital for 20 years, the Friday Bridge Club and Larned Country Club. On March 5, 1935, she married Maurice A. Wildgen at Larned. He died July 23, 1979. Survivors include two daughters, Susanne Haymaker and husband Robert of Larned, and Paula Beth Brown and husband Robert of Ellicott City, Md.; three grandsons, Joseph, Roger and Thomas Haymaker; and one granddaughter, Kathleen Johnson. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Maureen Marie Outcalt; four sisters, Josephine A. Carter, Isabel B. Vinson, Dolores A. Miller and Clara M. Yeager. Vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Morell Funeral Home in Larned. Funeral Mass will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Larned with Father Dennis Reed officiating. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, all at the funeral home. Burial will be at Larned cemetery. HOISINGTON - Richard LeRoy Stevenson Jr., 48, died Feb. 2 at his residence. He was born April 3, 1955, at Hoisington, the son of Richard L. Sr. and Donna L. Keeslar Stevenson. He married Karolyn Bohn Feb. 22, 1974, at Hoisington. A lifetime resident of Hoisington, he was a tool pusher. Stevenson was a member of Faith of Church and Crossroad Church, both of Hoisington. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Chris Stevenson of Hoisington; one daughter, Rachel Stevenson of Hoisington; his mother of Hoisington; one brother, Robert L. Stevenson of Hoisington; and two sisters, Barbara L. Taylor of Hoisington and Dorothy L. Stevenson of Tucson, Ariz. OLATHE - Due to adverse weather conditions, memorial services for Hazel H. Grossardt, 85, who died Jan. 28, are rescheduled for 11 a.m. today at North Cross United Methodist Church, 1321 N.E. Vivion Rd., Kansas City, Mo. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Claflin City cemetery in Claflin. LARNED - Doris May Honomichl, 85, died Feb. 1 at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital Long Term Care in Larned. She was born April 27, 1918, in Lucas, the daughter of James and Edna Perry Rezabek. She married Edwin A. Honomichl May 31, 1940, at Beloit. He died Oct. 31, 1981. A resident of Larned since 1967, coming from Lincoln, she was a dietary aide at Larned State Hospital, a nurses' aide at Hammond Holiday Home and a care provider for people in their homes. She was a member of United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary, both of Larned, and ZCBJ of Timken. Survivors include two sons, Erwin 'Ernie' Honomichl and Eugene Honomichl, both of Larned; two daughters, Marlene Chlumsky and Ramona Flaherty, both of Larned; one brother, Edward Rezabek of Athol, S.D.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers, James Rezabek and John Rezabek; four sisters, Agnes Brozek, Helen Brozek, Alta Davis and Francis Thacker; and one grandchild. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Charles Grant officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Lucas cemetery. Warren D. Schmidt

CHASE - Warren D. Schmidt, 82, died Feb. 2 at Good Samaritan Center in Lyons. He was born June 27, 1921, at Pioneer Township in rural Chase, the son of Henry and Alma Ott Schmidt. He was a 1941 graduate of Chase High School. He married Rosemary Evans May 22, 1947, at Bushton. A lifetime Rice County resident, he was a farmer and a maintenance man for Pioneer Township. Schmidt was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, administrative council of Salem UMC and pastor parish relations board of Salem UMC, all of Bushton; and American Legion and Veteran of Foreign Wars, both of Lyons. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II and receiving a Purple Heart. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Michael Schmidt of Hutchinson; one daughter, Linda Cesar of West Plains, Mo.; one sister, Faye Lukens of Sand Point, Idaho; one granddaughter; and two great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen Denise Schmidt; one brother, Gene Schmidt; and one sister, Genevive Geist. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Vernon Maelzer officiating. Burial will be at Salem United Methodist Church cemetery in Bushton with full military honors by Ft. Riley Honor Guard. Cremation has taken place. Alice Coogan Watson
1944-2004
SANTA FE, N.M. - Alice Coogan, 59, died Jan. 28 at her home in Santa Fe following a lengthy illness. The dire diagnosis of untreatable cancer was made last May. born March 27, 1944, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to Helen Townsley and James Alan Coogan, she grew up in Caracas, Venezuela, attended schools in Caracas, Great Bend, Ethel Walker Preparatory School in Stamford, Conn., and was graduated from Stanford University in Stanford, Calif. She married Lyall Watson, a companion for 12 years, June 21, 2003, in Santa Fe. The couple made their home in Santa Fe in recent years and maintain a home in Ireland. Survivors include her husband of the home; one brother, Alan D. Coogan of Portland, Ore.; one niece, Alexis Coogan, living in Spain; Uncle Russell Townsley of Russell; and several cousins. Her parents James Alan and Helen Coogan, a brother James Coogan and uncle Bill Townsley preceded her in death. After completing studies at Stanford, she was assistant director of Stanford Alumni Travel Association. In following years she organized and directed tours throughout the world and was a freelance travel director. In later years she made her home in San Francisco and South Carolina in the United States and in several countries including Colombia, Chile, South Africa and Ireland. Mrs. Coogan was associated with Episcopal Church. Watson is a marine biologist and author of several books. Alice requested to be cremated, to have a small family ceremony and her ashes scattered by her husband and brother in one of her favorite coral reefs. OLATHE - Mrs. Hazel Grossardt, 85, passed away at her Olathe home on Jan. 28. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today at North Cross United Methodist Church, 1321 N.E. Vivion Rd., Kansas City, Mo. Burial will be at Claflin cemetery at a later date. She was born in Crosses, Ark., on July 1, 1918, the daughter of Ernest and Maggie Butler. She and Martin L. Grossardt were married Nov. 14, 1945, in Claflin. He preceded her in death in 1980. Surviving are two sons, Gerald Grossardt and wife, Cheryl, of Bakersfield, Calif., and Jon Grossardt and wife, Sheri, of Winona, Minn.; two daughters, Linda Danko and husband, Mike, of Olathe and Debbie Grossardt of Kansas City, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Patrick and his wife Crystal, Steven, and Kristin Danko, and Nicholas, Anne and Andrew Grossardt, and Tracy Grauer. Also surviving are two sisters, Opal Weaver of Great Bend and Jewel Schlicht of Prairie Village. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Garland Butler. Hazel was employed by the Hutchinson school district for a number of years as a baker, retiring in 1983. She was a member of North Cross United Methodist Church, Kansas City, Mo. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed crossword puzzles and painting. Michael Duane Bolander
1955-2004
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Michael Duane Bolander, 48, died Jan. 28 at his home. He was born May 19, 1955, at Hominy, Okla., the son of Charles J. Bolander and Carolyn M. McMullen Crouse. He attended Ellinwood schools. A resident of Bakersfield for several years, coming from Ellinwood, he was a floor hand on a pulling unit for Kincaid Well Service and Jet Well, both of Ellinwood. Bolander was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Ellinwood. Survivors include his mother of Radium; one brother, John Ray Bolander of Osage, Okla.; three half-brothers, Tom Myers of Olmitz, Doug Myers of Dodge City and Dick Myers of Ellinwood; and two half-sisters, Debbie Borger of Jetmore and Carolyn Clark of Ellinwood. The body has been cremated. The family will announce services at a later date. Burial will be at Lakin-Comanche District cemetery in Ellinwood.
