RUSSELL - Reuben R. Steinert, 86, died April 19 at Hays Medical Center in Hays. He was born Feb. 19, 1918, west of Milberger, the son of George K. and Mary K. Kraft Steinert. He married
Edna Mae Templing Nov. 22, 1941, in Milberger. She died June 11, 1977. He married
Lucille Steponick Aug. 17, 1979, at Russell. A resident of Russell since 1979, coming from rural Milberger, he was a farmer and stockman. Steinert was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Russell, former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Milberger, Lincoln Township, Galatia Co-op Board and Russell County Fair Board. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Duane Steinert of Olmitz and Kenneth Steinert of Belleville, Ill.; one daughter, Betty Ann Watkins of Garden City; one stepson, Alfred Steponick of Salina; three stepdaughters, Alaine Radke of Milberger, Cleo Mounday of Valley Center and Marilyn Weidner of Pueblo, Colo.; four sisters, Rosie Boxberger, Virginia Boxberger and Edna Tittel, all of Russell, and Mabeline Karst of Great Bend; seven grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. today at Pohlman-Heise Mortuary in Russell. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church in Russell, with the Rev. Henry J. Hartman officiating. NEWTON - Darrel R. Krallman, 53, died April 16 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita. He was born Dec. 16, 1950, at Great Bend, the son of Leroy and Maxine Long Krallman. He married
Marian Bailey Stinchcomb May 29, 1982, at Salina. A resident of Newton since 1986, he was a machinist and tool and die maker for J.I. Case in Wichita. Krallman was a member of First United Methodist Church of Great Bend and Ducks Unlimited. Survivors include his wife of the home; two stepsons, David Stinchcomb of Drummond, Okla., and Jonathon Stinchcomb of Newton; his parents of Great Bend; one brother, David Krallman of Great Bend; and seven step-grandchildren. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Gary Brooks officiating. Cremation has taken place. There will be no burial. NORTH NEWTON - Mollie M. Berryman, 96, died April 15 at Kidron Bethel Village in North Newton. She was born Sept. 13, 1907, in Dycusburg, Ky., the daughter of Daniel S. and Bell Bennett Hill. She married
William G. Berryman September 1929, in Burbank, Okla. He died March 10, 1986. A resident of North Newton, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Berryman was a member of New Horizon Church. Survivors include one son, Bill Berryman of Great Bend; two daughters, Betty Leverly of Grand Junction, Colo., and Mary Ann Steele of Goddard; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, and two great-grandchildren. Jeanne Pauline Guesnier

Jeanne Pauline Guesnier, 79, of Great Bend, died peacefully on Friday, April 16, at her home in Great Bend. She had been courageously battling a cancer that was diagnosed April 2003. She was born Oct. 28, 1924, in Topeka, the daughter of August and Mary Johns. She was the youngest of six children. Mrs. Guesnier was a life-long member of the Catholic Church and for the last 51 years worshiped with St. Patrick Catholic Parish in Great Bend. Her passion for her faith was shown not only through her church, but also in her daily life. She was a Christian example to many people throughout her service to St. Patrick Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella and the Perpetual Adoration Society. She found great joy in her children and grandchildren. For 10 years she served as a school crossing guard at St. Patrick Grade School. Later in life, after her husband passed away, she worked outside the home until retiring in 1988. Jeanne was united in marriage to John Franklin Guesnier on Oct. 15, 1945, in Topeka. They were married
for 31 years until he died in 1976. Her surviving children include: four sons and four daughters: Gary Guesnier and his wife, Marjorie of Westminster, Colo.; Bernie Guesnier and his wife Kim, of Great Bend; Ramona Marrs and her husband Donnie, of Salina; Rebecca Izzard and her husband Randy, of The Woodlands, Texas; Gerard 'Moe' Guesnier and his wife Deborah, of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; Larry Guesnier and his wife Patty, of Parker, Colo.; Georgia Foos and her husband David, of Derby; and Darah Klima and her husband Kelly, of Derby; nine grandsons; 11 granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren. Survivors include two brothers, Robert N. Johns of Topeka and Raymond F. Johns of Oskaloosa; and one sister, Helen Johns of Topeka. Jeanne's youngest son, John Guesnier Jr. preceded her in death in 1979. Also, two sisters, Patricia Garvert and Rita Johns, preceded Mrs. Guesnier in death. AURORA, Colo. - Patricia Kay Brannin, 65, died April 13 at Hospice of Metro Denver in Aurora. She was born Feb. 21, 1939, the daughter of Charles D. and Ruth Ely Harris. She was a 1957 graduate of Great Bend High School. She was a resident of Aurora since 1968, coming from Great Bend. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Aurora. Survivors include two brothers, Ted Brannin of Olathe and Jerry Harris of Scottsdale, Ariz. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend, with the Rev. KEARNEY, Mo. - William 'Bill' T. Fuqua, 87, died April 11 at his residence. He was born Aug. 8, 1916, at Macksville, the son of William A. and Lennie Fuqua. He was a 1934 graduate of Macksville High School. A resident of Kearney for two years, coming from Great Bend, he was a carpenter, salesman for Mobro Corporation and worked for Davis Paint Company. He was a member of First Christian Church of Great Bend, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, USS Helm Association and Elks. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II on the USS Helm. Survivors include two daughters, Dianne Richards of Great Bend and Nancy Beaty of Kearney; four brothers, Bob Fuqua of Seward, Ivan Fuqua of Leavenworth, Clarence Fuqua of San Antonio, Texas, and Bruce Fuqua of Winfield; one sister, Rose Marie Hager of St. John; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Emma Fuqua, one daughter, Linda Lee Fuqua, and one brother, Calvin Fuqua. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Jerome Frank Haberman, 91, of Great Bend, died April 11 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. He was born June 23, 1912, in Barton County, the son of Henry and Anna Gleisner Haberman. He married
Dixie Morrison Jan. 12, 1960, in Great Bend. A resident of Great Bend, coming from Pawnee Rock, he was a foreman at Bureau of Mines Helium Activity in Otis, retiring in 1975. Haberman was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend and the American Legion in Stafford. He served as a private first class in the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Darin Haberman and wife Cheri of Great Bend; one brother, Benedict Haberman of Wichita; three grandchildren, Ashley Ellis, Matthew Haberman and Ryan Haberman, all of Great Bend; and one great-grandchild, Marcus Ellis of Great Bend. He was preceded in death by one infant son, Jerry Curt Haberman; three brothers, Carl Haberman, Alphons Haberman and Raymond Haberman; and one sister, Isabell LePore. Laurene E. Friess Dec. 6, 1947, in Wichita. A 43-year resident of La Crosse, coming from Ransom, he was a depot agent and telegrapher for Missouri Pacific Railroad before his retirement. He was a member of United Methodist Church in La Crosse, Veterans of Foreign Wars life member, Military Order of Cootie life member, American Legion, Walnut Valley Lodge 215 and Boy Scouts scout master. He served in World War II as a member of the U.S. Army. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon, four Bronze Service Stars, World War II Victory ribbon and American Theater ribbon. He participated in battles and campaigns in Ardennes Rhineland, northern France, central Europe and the Battle of the Bulge. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, PEO, Parent Teachers Association, Picture Lady, all of Larned, Alpha Delta Pi Sorority of Manhattan and a volunteer for many organizations.
