HOISINGTON - Arlene S. Myers, 87, died Sept. 18 at Cheyenne Meadows Living Center in Hoisington. She was born Dec. 12, 1916, at Wilkes Barre, Pa., the daughter of Ziba B. and Ella A. Williams Schooley. She married
Fred Bohn, who preceded her in death. She then married
Carl Betcher, who preceded her in death. She then married
Clinton Myers, who preceded her in death. A Hoisington resident for 14 years, coming from Tunkhannock, Pa., she was a homemaker. Mrs. Myers was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church in Hoisington. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Louise Bohn; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Fred J. Bohn; a daughter, Phyllis Ann Bohn; three brothers, Clod Schooley, Fred Schooley and Frank Schooley; and a sister, Edna Mann. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John cemetery in Hoisington with the Rev. Garry Dassow officiating. Doris Compton, 60, of Great Bend, died Sept. 14 at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. She was born July 23, 1944, at Cleburne, Texas, the daughter of Floyd Raymond and Sarah Elizabeth Anderson McDaniel. She married
Robert A. Compton on June 20, 1989, at Hesperia, Calif. A Great Bend resident since 2000, coming from Lake Wales, Fla., she was a transport driver for BOC Gases Operations, Otis, and formerly worked for Jack B. Kelley Inc., Great Bend. Mrs. Compton was a Baptist. Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, Casey Daniel Jones of Cleburne; a daughter, Tracy Lyn Jones of Rio Vista, Texas; two half-brothers, J.T. McDaniel of Cleburne and Bo McDaniel of North Dakota; and three grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend with the Rev. John Grummon officiating. Lucille Josephine Fuhr, 83, died Sept. 14 at her home in Great Bend. She was born Feb. 28, 1921, at Dubuque, Kan., the daughter of Henry John and Teresa Krier Hoffman. She married
Ernest Willy Fuhr on Oct. 21, 1939, at Great Bend. He died May 24, 1995. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Fuhr was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Altar Society and served on the election board, all in Great Bend. Survivors include two sons, John H. Fuhr and wife Annette of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mark A. Fuhr and wife Sharon of Pratt; four daughters, Judy Garmeson and husband Duane of Calhoun, Ga., Norma Jean Carr and husband John of Great Bend, Vernita K. Hodges of Larned and Joanne R. Bortz of Chatham, Ontario, Canada; three sisters, Eleanor Hines of Ellinwood, Lavina Carrier of Great Bend and Pat Dirks of Pawnee Rock; 16 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one step-great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one great-grandchild, Joshua Larson. Altar Society Rosary will be at 4 p.m. today at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Marvella Antje Marie Perry, 79, of Great Bend, died Sept. 13 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. She was born Dec. 4, 1924, at Heizer, the daughter of Emil Fredrick and Sophia Johanna Soeken Kruckenberg. She was a graduate of Great Bend High School. She married
Ancil C. Perry on June 8, 1941, at McPherson. She was retired as a crossing guard for the Great Bend Police Department. Mrs. Perry was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3111, all in Great Bend. Survivors include a son, Mark A. Perry, Soldier, Kan.; a daughter, Dianna L. Amon, Lewis; two brothers, Lyman Kruckenberg and Robert Kruckenberg, both of Great Bend; a sister, Pauline Halfhill, Great Bend; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; son E. Dale Perry; sisters Dorothy Marymee and Grace Rhodes; and a grandson, Trenton Perry. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. STAFFORD - Lena A. Blakeslee, 101, died Sept. 12, 2004, at Stafford District Hospital. She was born Nov. 1, 1902, at Great Bend, the daughter of Otto and Minnie Heinze Hiss. She was a homemaker and was a Great Bend area resident for most of her life before moving to Stafford in 1999. She was a member of the Rolling Green United EHU, First Congregational United Church of Christ, and Ladies Card Club, all of Great Bend, and she enjoyed crocheting, sewing and embroidering. On Aug. 22, 1925, she married
George Blakeslee Sr. at St. John. He died June 2, 1971. Survivors include three sons, Charles Blakeslee of St. John, George Blakeslee of Great Bend and Victor Blakeslee of Stafford; two daughters, Juanita Fischer of Stafford and Helen Boyd of Topeka; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Hiss; and a sister, Louise. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at Minnis Chapel in Stafford with the Rev. Russell F. Meyer, 74, of Great Bend, died Sept. 11 at Hutchinson Hospital in Hutchinson. He was born May 8, 1930, at Great Bend, the son of Fred H. and Katie Marie Brown Meyer. He married
Mary Ann Tate on Aug. 27, 1959, at Craig, Colo. She preceded him in death. He owned Russ' Roofing. Meyer served in the U.S. Army and was a member of First Bible Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, Wade Meyer and Mark Meyer, both of Florida, and Greg Meyer of Great Bend; two sisters, Violet Seder of Great Bend, and Viola Befort of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Gina; three brothers; and one sister. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Charter Funerals Chapel in Great Bend with The Rev. John Grummon officiating. ELLINWOOD - Romona Witt Dannebohm, 65, died Sept. 14 at Ellinwood District Hospital. She was born Nov. 20, 1938, at Great Bend, the daughter of Gust Witt Jr. and Johanna Siefkes Witt. She married
Robert Dannebohm on Feb. 14, 1959, at Hudson. A lifetime Stafford and Barton County resident, she was a secretary for Tennaco, a homemaker and a farm wife. Mrs. Dannebohm was a member of First Baptist Church of Ellinwood and Cradle Roll Club. She assisted with children's church and Bible school nursery, and taught Sunday school. She was a 1956 graduate of Hudson High School and attended Fort Hays State University. Survivors include her husband of the home; daughters Gail Bergling of Atwood and Nancee Meyer of Stafford; sister Lila Snell of Manhattan; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Witt. Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the church, south of Ellinwood, with the Rev. David Wesner officiating. KIMBALL, Neb. '“ Orvile N. Tuzicka, 76 of Nebo, Ky., formerly of Kimball, Neb., died Sept. 10 at his home in Nebo. He was born March 26, 1928, at Hays, the son of Charles and Barbara Dome Tuzicka. He was raised in Kansas. Tuzicka entered the Air Force where he served until being honorably discharged as a sergeant. He married
Theora M. Pierce on Aug. 8, 1948, at Las Vegas, Nev. They lived in Sterling, Colo., Wyoming and Sidney, Neb., before moving to Kimball. He worked for many years in various capacities in the oil business and later worked for Cabela's before retiring and moving to Kentucky Survivors include a daughter, Janice McCarty, of Yucca, Ariz.; four sons, Dennis Tuzicka, Sidney, Orvile Tuzicka Jr., Kimball, Timothy Tuzicka, Orlando, Fla., and Kevin Tuzicka, Paduka, Ky.; a brother, Floyd Tuzicka of Olmitz; 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Teddy and a son, Charles Tuzicka. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Cantrell Funeral Home of Kimball, with the Rev.
