LA CROSSE - Eva G. Cline Loreg, 95, died March 4 at Rush County Nursing Home in La Crosse. She was born April 12, 1907, at Webster, the daughter of Jessie and Mattie Donner Cline. She married Mike Loreg June 7, 1922. He preceded her in death. She was a resident of La Crosse, coming from Codell. Survivors include four sons, Melvin Loreg of Great Bend, Ivan Dean Loreg of Topeka, Darrell Loreg of Hays and Mike Loreg of Hoisington; four daughters, Helen McKenna of Lyons, Catherine Collins of Hoisington, Marjorie Boeckner of Hays and Ladonna Flax of Ellis; and one sister, Esther Cline of Centerville, Mo. She was preceded in death by two infant sons, Keith Loreg and Joseph Loreg; three daughters, Della Mae Loreg, Loree Blair and Dorothy Loreg; five brothers, Maurice Cline, Charlie Cline, Herrman Cline, Clifford Cline and Harry Cline; and three sisters, Carrie Bice, Myrtle Loreg and Addie Winters. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Codell Baptist Church with the Revs. Steve Matthews and the Rev. Don Fischer officiating. Burial will be at Paradise Center cemetery in rural Codell. Friends may call from 3 to 8 tonight at Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel in Plainville. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association, both in care of the funeral home.

Georgia Dawn Tammen 1975-2003
ALBERT - Georgia Dawn Tammen, 27, died March 2 at her home in Albert. She was born Nov. 15, 1975, at Syracuse, the daughter of Keith E. and Mary I. Cody Jones. She married Troy Tammen May 23, 1998, at Albert. A resident of Albert for six years, coming from Larned, she was a homemaker. She was a Girl Scout leader for Troop 240 of Larned. Survivors include her husband of the home; one son, Travis Nathan Tammen of the home; two daughters, Monica Marie Lara and Tami Nicole Tammen, both of the home; her father, Keith Jones of ElDorado; her mother, Mary Jones of Larned; four brothers, Tom Cody of Salina, Curt Whaley of Great Bend, Bruce Jones of Holly, Colo., and Cody Whaley of Larned; seven sisters, Keithetta Nanneman of Albuquerque, N.M., Melinda Wilson of Liberal, Rita Garfio of Lakin, Jennifer Hupp of Killeen, Texas, Stacee Anderson of Towanda, Trish Warren of Hutchinson and Cherie Shaver of Larned; father-in-law, Ted Tammen of Albert, mother-in-law and step-father-inlaw, Dot Tammen and Larry Vaughn of Russell; and brother-in-law, Travis Tammen of Wichita. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Kevin Jones and Robyn Dean Jones. Prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Peace Lutheran Church in Albert with the Rev. Jack Russell officiating. Burial will be at Peace Lutheran Church cemetery in Albert. There is no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Georgia Tammen Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.

Rochelle Nadyne Reece 1948-2003
LARNED - Rochelle Nadyne Reece, 54, died March 2 at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Larned. She was born Aug. 2, 1948, in Albuquerque, N.M., the daughter of Theodore and Lucille Jennings Luckey. She married Marshall Reece July 7, 1997, at Las Vegas, Nev. A resident of Larned since 1994, coming from Iola, Topeka and Dodge City, she was an employee relations representative at Larned State Hospital. Mrs. Reece was a member of Apostolic Faith Pentecostal Church of Dodge City. Survivors include her husband of the home; one son, Broderick Jackson of Overland Park; her parents of Dodge City; one sister, Mignon Luckey of Dodge City; and two grandchildren. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned with Terry Canady officiating. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Resurrection cemetery in Lenexa with Dr. Alethea Cushinberry officiating. Friends may call from noon until 8 tonight, from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday, all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the mortuary.

Ruth V. Bray 1914-2003
Ruth V. Bray, 89, of Great Bend, died March 4 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. She was born Feb. 26, 1914, at Lincoln County, the daughter of John C. and Marie Katt Schulz. She married William James Bray Jan. 20, 1946, in Lincoln County. A resident of Great Bend since 1958, coming from La Crosse, she was a school teacher for many years in Rush County and Great Bend. Mrs. Bray was a member of First Christian Church,, Golden Belt Community Concert Association, Clara Barton Rebecca Lodge 58, Fort Zarah League 38, Northwest HDU, Delta Kappa Gamma, AAUW and AARP. Survivors include her husband of the home; two daughters, Joyce Marie Bray of Wichita and Vivian Jane Bray of Longmont, Colo.; and one sister, Florene Girton of Wichita. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Herbert Schulz, Norman Schulz and Dee Schulz; and one sister, Irene Schulz. Funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. William F. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park north of Great Bend. Friends may call from 5 to 9 tonight, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday, all at the funeral home. Glen Oakley Tegarden 1926-2003
Glen Oakley Tegarden, 77, of Great Bend, died March 4 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. He was born Feb. 2, 1926, at Turon, the son of Clifford Glen and Ruth Raines Tegarden. He married Evelyn Hulse Dec. 17, 1949, at Russell. A Great Bend resident for 60 years, coming from Turon, he was a steam fitter and pipe fitter for Steam and Pipe Fitters Union Local 171 in Wichita and worked as an oilfield driller. Tegarden was a member of Masonic Lodge, Shrine Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in World War II. Survivors include his wife of Great Bend; two daughters, Glenda Zimmerman and Carol Elliott, both of Great Bend; two stepsons, Howard Johnson of Great Bend and Gary Johnson of North Highlands, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Judy Pulee of Great Bend and Irene Strunk of Bossier City, La.; his mother of Pratt; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Church of the Nazarene with the Revs. Mark Pennington and John Wicker officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend cemetery with full military honors. Friends may call from 5 to 9 tonight and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, all at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Dorothy E. Brown 1915-2003
HOISINGTON - Dorothy E. Brown, 87, died March 3 at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. She was born Dec. 15, 1915, at Douglas, the daughter of Oscar and Mabel Cronk Farnsworth. She married Elton B. Brown March 2, 1935, at Independence, Mo. He died Oct. 5, 2002. A resident of Hoisington since 1949, coming from Andale, Valley Center, Cambridge and Rose Hill, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Brown was a member of First Christian Church in Hoisington. Survivors include one son, Mike Brown of Great Bend; three daughters, Linnea Winter of Great Bend, Loretta Thornbrugh of Plano, Texas, and Martha Brown of Kansas City; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Benny Brown; two brothers, Earl Farnsworth and Merle Farnsworth; and one sister, Lula Foote. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington with the Rev. Paula Bell officiating. Burial will be at Hoisington cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday, all at the funeral home. Nicholas 'Nick' Thill 1905-2003
CLAFLIN - Nicholas 'Nick' Thill, 97, died March 4 at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. He was born Sept. 21, 1905, at Dubuque, the son of Frank Paul and Mary Susan Weber Thill. A lifetime Barton County resident, living in both Claflin and Ellinwood, he was a retired farmer and stockman. Thill was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellinwood. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the European Theatre in World War II. Survivors include two sisters, Mary Ann Brungardt of Ellinwood and Anna Lee Habiger of Bushton. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank Thill, Paul Thill and Leonard Thill; and three sisters, Francis, Catherine and Eleanor. Altar Society rosary will be at 3 p.m. Thursday with vigil service at 7 p.m., both Thursday at Kimple Funeral Home in Ellinwood. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. David Flagor officiating. Burial will be at St. Catherine cemetery in Dubuque. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Ellinwood Hospital Auxiliary or Dubuque Catholic cemetery Trust, both in care of the funeral home.

Fred L. Decker 1937-2003
SALIDA, Colo. - Fred L. Decker, 66, died March 1 at Salida. He was born Oct. 26, 1937, at Silica, the son of Floyd and Irene McDaniel Decker. He married Rita Marie Knoll June 14, 1958, in Wakeeney. He worked in the oilfield all of his life. Decker was a U.S. Army veteran, having served from 1954 to 1958. Survivors include two sons, Fred Decker of Roosevelt, Utah, and Melvin Decker of Great Bend; three daughters, Delores Gates of Salida, Maxine Wilkinson and Pauline Greene, both of Great Bend; one brother, Leon Decker of Bloomfield, N.M.; three sisters, Berniece Siedel of Sterling, Helen Rhines of Puryear, Tenn., and Thelma Stapleton of Sapulpa, Okla.; and 13 grandchildren. A private family service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Salida. The body was cremated. Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home in Salida are in charge of arrangements.

Zella M. Hickerson 1913-2003
NEWTON - Zella M. Hickerson, 89, died March 1 at Newton Presbyterian Manor. She was born Nov. 23, 1913, at Hesston, the daughter of Aaron and Frances Bitikofer Stolfus. She graduated from Newton High School in 1932. She married Loren J. Hickerson Aug. 25, 1932, at Peabody. He died April 19, 1987. A longtime resident of Newton, living in Missouri from 1998 to 2000, she was a cosmetic and clothing clerk for Henry's in Wichita and was employed by Wilson Drug Store in Newton. Mrs. Hickerson was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Newton. Survivors include one son, the Rev. Loren W. "Bill" Hickerson of Newton; four grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at First United Church of Christ in Newton with the Rev. James Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Gardens of Memory in rural Newton. Memorials are suggested to Newton Presbyterian Manor, in care of Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.

Wilma M. Popp 1919-2003
Wilma M. Popp, 83, of Great Bend, died March 3 at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. She was born Dec. 20, 1919, at Ft. Smith, Ark., the daughter of Benjamin and Ella Cantrell Witt. She married Elmer Popp Nov. 12, 1950, at Henryetta, Texas. He died Oct. 23, 1982. A resident of Barton County since 1940, coming from Ft. Smith, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Popp was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Great Bend. Survivors include one daughter, Dell Hayden of Great Bend; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters. Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church with the Revs. James A. Strasen and David E. Carlson officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 9 tonight, and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, all at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Alvin A. Keil 1912-2003
Alvin A. Keil, 90, of Great Bend, died March 2 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center in Great Bend. He was born March 8, 1912, at Galatia, the son of Conrad and Mary Steinert Keil. He married Alberta Buchheister Nov. 5, 1939, at Plainville. A resident of Great Bend since 1952, coming from Otis, he was a lineman with Central Electric Company, retiring in 1977. Keil was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Great Bend. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Albert Keil of Pittsburg; two daughters, Cheryl Wesley of Great Bend and Jolene Morgan of Valdez, Alaska; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ben Keil, Seigmund Keil, Emanuel Keil and Edwin Keil; and three sisters, Elma Brack, Rubena Keil and Phoebe Brack. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend with the Rev. Shannon Vogelzang officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park cemetery north of Great Bend. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday with family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, all at the funeral home. Grayce L. Crider 1909-2003
HOISINGTON - Grayce L. Crider, 94, died March 1 at her residence in Hoisington. She was born Jan. 16, 1909, at Salina. She married Erbie A. Crider. He died Dec. 17, 2001. She was a telephone operator and supervisor for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring in 1964. Survivors include one nephew, William Giltner of Salina; and one niece, Bertha Louise Norton of Hoisington. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gypsum Hill cemetery in Salina. The body was cremated. There is no visitation. Ryan Mortuary of Salina is in charge of arrangements.

Allan Lance Bates 1950-2003
HOISINGTON - Allan Lance Bates, 53, died March 2 at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. He was born Jan. 25, 1950, at Hoisington, the son of Melvin Lester and Gladys Marcum Bates. He married Tracy Lynn Fritz Sept. 2, 1995, at Hoisington. A lifetime resident of Hoisington, he was a lineman for the city of Hoisington. Bates was a member of First Christian Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7428, both of Hoisington. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. He was a recipient of the National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Campaign medal, Vietnam Service medal and two bronze service stars. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Adam Bates and D.J. Bates, both of Great Bend; two daughters, Brenda Bates of Oklahoma and Crystal Bates of Great Bend; one step-daughter, Andrea Hansen of Hoisington; his mother, Gladys Bates Voos of Hoisington; one brother, Gary Bates of Hoisington; one sister, Tambra Nuss of Milberger; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Stanley Bates. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington with the Rev. Paula Bell officiating. Burial will be at Goldenbelt Memorial Park cemetery in Barton County with full military honors by Ft. Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from 3 to 8 today, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday, all at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials are suggested to Natalie Deutsch Medical Fund or Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Refuge, both in care of the funeral home.

Norma Ruth Petz 1930-2003
ELLINWOOD - Norma Ruth Petz, 72, died March 1 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. She was born July 30, 1930, at Ellinwood, the daughter of Arlie Leo and Bonnie Lee Chuculate Lamb. She graduated from Ellinwood High School in 1947. A lifetime resident of Ellinwood, she was a secretary at Barton County Community College and an operator at the city of Ellinwood light plant. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Altar Society, both of Ellinwood. Survivors include five sons, Allen Petz of Inman, Ted Petz of Salina, Danny Petz of Centennial, Colo., Richard Petz of Denver, Colo., and Steven Petz of Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Connie Oetken of Olmitz and Cathy Castor of Denver; one brother, Don Lamb of Garden City; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Arley Lamb Jr., and great-granddaughter, Elise Petz. Altar Society rosary will be at 3 today at Kimple Funeral Home in Ellinwood. Rosary will be at 7 tonight at the funeral home. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. David Flagor officiating. Burial will be at Lakin Commanche District cemetery in Ellinwood. Friends may call from 1-8 today at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Scleroderma Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
