ALBERT - Frank Keller, 77, died Oct. 11, 2002, at Yuma, Ariz. He married Frances Keller April 22, 1961, at Great Bend. She died Jan. 28. He was a longtime resident of Albert. Survivors include one brother, Lynn Keller of Albert. Graveside memorial service and inurnment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Great Bend cemetery. Pohlman Mortuary of Russell is in charge of arrangements.

Frances Keller 1929-2003
ALBERT - Frances Keller, 74, died Jan. 28 at Great Bend. She married Frank Keller April 22, 1961, at Great Bend. He died Oct. 11, 2002. She was a longtime resident of Albert. Survivors include two sisters, Virginia Jones of Utica and Marjorie Glenn of Island Road, Vt. Graveside memorial service and inurnment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Great Bend cemetery. Pohlman Mortuary of Russell is in charge of arrangements.

Ellida E. Picket 1921-2003
KINSLEY - Ellida E. Picket, 81, died April 18 at her home in Kinsley. She was born April 23, 1921, at Kinsley, the daughter of Donald and Ellen A. Abbott Chenoweth. She married Ernest E. Houdeshell June 22, 1938, at Garnett. He died Jan. 26, 1974. She married Earl I. Picket July 17, 1976, at Kinsley. He died March 13, 1983. A lifetime Kinsley resident, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Picket was a member of Kinsley Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, Donald of Fountain, Colo., Keith of Hutchinson and Leslie of Kinsley; and two daughters, Darlene Ricker of Great Bend and Lorita Danler of Kinsley; one sister, Leona Birney of Kinsley; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son and one daughter. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Kinsley Baptist Church in Kinsley with the Rev. Aaron Kirkwood officiating. Burial will be at Hillside cemetery in Kinsley. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at McKillip Memorial Funeral Home in Kinsley. Memorials are suggested to Southwind Hospice or American Diabetes Association, both in care of the funeral home.

Mayme Bertha Huffman 1908-2003
Mayme Bertha Huffman, 94, of Great Bend, died April 17 at Central Kansas Medical Center. She was born Dec. 1, 1908, at Stratford City, Penn., the daughter of Thomas and Matilda West. She married Charles William Huffman Aug. 29, 1926, at Trinidad, Colo. He died July 6, 2000. A resident of Great Bend most of her life, she was a homemaker. Huffman was a member of First Church of the Nazarene of Great Bend. Survivors include two sons, Don Huffman of Great Bend and Glenn C. Huffman of Bethany, Okla.; one daughter, Darlene Rowland of Great Bend; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by many brothers and sisters. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Mark Pennington officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.

Colonel Evan E. Murdock 1913-2003
WESTWOOD, Calif., - Colonel Evan E. Murdock, 90, died Oct. 3, 2002 at Westwood. He was born Feb. 17, 1913, at Atallasa, Iowa, the son of Henry and Alice Edmonds Murdock. He married Francis Carroll May 27, 1937, at El Paso, Texas. Murdock was a member of the Catholic faith. He was a retired colonel in the U.S. Army of Engineers. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Erwin Murdock of Westwood; one daughter, Kay Francis of Westwood; and one sister, Gayle Slack of Great Bend. Graveside service was Oct. , 2002, at Riverside National cemetery in Riverside, Calif. Memorials are suggested to American Legion of Ness City in care of Bryant Funeral Home of Great Bend.

Clyde Vinson 1921-2003
GARFIELD - Clyde Vinson, 82, died April 14 at Masonic Home in Wichita. He was born March 8, 1921, at Pawnee County, the son of Wayne and Ada Jane Gibson Vinson. He married Madeline Hall Dec. 27, 1944, at Larned. A Garfield area resident since 1950, coming from rural Larned, he was a rural mail carrier. Vinson was a member of United Methodist Church and American Legion, both of Garfield, Kinsley Gun Club and Good Ol Boys Team. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Harlan Vinson of Wichita; one daughter, Bonnie Olson of Wichita; one brother, Harry Vinson of Denver, Colo.; one sister, Lois Moeckel of Hutchinson; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Elmer Vinson. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned, with the Rev. Ken Walker officiating. Burial will be at Garfield cemetery with military honors. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Friday, both at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the church or American Legion of Garfield, both in care of the mortuary.

LeRoy John Matzek 1937-2003
LeRoy John Matzek, 66, of Great Bend, died April 15 at his residence. He was born April 6, 1937, at Barton County, the son of Frank and Rickie Hoops Matzek. A lifetime resident of Barton County, he was owner and operator of Parkview Service Station until his retirement. Matzek was a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include one son, Charles Matzek of Calhan, Colo.; one brother, Gene Matzek of Norton; one sister, Dolores Perrill of Grand Island, Neb.; and two grandchildren. Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend, with the Rev. Don Paden officiating. There is no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Golden Belt Community Foundation, in care of the funeral home..

Leonard F. Homolka 1921-2003
SALINA - Leonard F. Homolka, 81, died April 11. He was born Nov. 12, 1921, in Salina. A resident of Salina, he was a retired construction contractor. Survivors include one daughter, Gloria Espinosa of Great Bend; three brothers, Chester Homolka of Puyallup, Wash., Calvin Homolka of Wichita and Robert Homolka of Salina; and three sisters, Janet Jaeger and Donna Giersch, both of Salina, and Shirley Hines of Fayetteville, Ark. Services will be at a later date. There is no visitation. No memorials are suggested. Roselawn Mortuary of Salina is in charge of arrangements. Burial has taken place.

Jewell Mae Springer 1914-2003
LARNED - Jewell Mae Springer, 88, died April 14 at Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater. She was born Sept. 10, 1914, at McDade, Texas, the daughter of John William and Olive Blanche McCarty Wilson. She married C.C. Springer Oct. 28, 1940, at Tahlequah, Okla. He died Dec. 30, 1982. A resident of Larned since 1988, recently moving to Protection Valley Manor, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Springer was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church of Larned. Survivors include one niece, Ramona Ryder of Anza, Calif.; and two cousins. She was preceded in death by one brother, Ray Wilson. There is no service planned. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will be at Karoma cemetery in Goltry, Okla. Friends may sign a registry from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Thursday at Morell Funeral Home in Larned. Memorials are suggested to donor's choice, in care of the funeral home.

Wyeth Delos LoVette 1918-2003
LEWIS - Wyeth Delos LoVette, 84, died April 12 at Veterans Hospital in Wichita. He was born Dec. 16, 1918, in Edwards County, the son of Arlie R. and Lottie Abrams LoVette. He married Jewell La Rue Darby Jan. 18, 1947, at Wichita. A resident of Lewis, coming from Cheyenne Wells, Colo., he was a farmer and had a family custom harvesting operation. He was a member of Methodist Church of Lewis. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Larry Charles LoVette and Bill Alan LoVette, both of Lewis; one sister, Wilma Mae Latham of Hutchinson; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon; and one brother, Wilbur LoVette. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Church of Christ in Larned, with John Hamm officiating. Burial will be at Wayne cemetery in Lewis. Friends may call until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, both at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned. Memorials are suggested to Maude Carpenter Home or Back to the Bible, both in care of the mortuary.

Elma May Ward 1908-2003
Elma May Ward, 94, of Great Bend, died April 14 at Homestead Assisted Living in Great Bend. She was born May 25, 1908, at Ness County, the daughter of Fred and Pearl Robertson Cummins. She married Leonard Ward March 4, 1930, at Ashland. He died June 26, 1974. A resident of Great Bend since 1976, coming from Ness City, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Ward was a member of River of Life Foursquare Church and Women's Aglow, both of Great Bend. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Myers of Great Bend and Beth Blankenship of Hutchinson; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend with the Rev. David H. LeRoy officiating. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Bazine cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 9 tonight and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday, all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the funeral home.

Richard J. Bond 1916-2003
STAFFORD - Richard J. Bond, 86, died April 14 at Pratt Regional Medical Center. He was born April 25, 1916, at Stafford, the son of James H. and Elizabeth Belle Spear Bond. He married Delsie Newby Aug. 31, 1935, at Stafford. A lifetime resident of Stafford County, he was employed by the Stafford Police Department for 22 years and retired as chief of police of Stafford. Bond was a member of Kansas Association of Chiefs of Police, Stafford Nazarene Church, a former member of Stafford Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scout leader, a board member of Stafford Recreation Center, a board member of Stafford Lake Association, volunteer for Quivira Wildlife Refuge for 20 years and volunteer at Stafford Senior Center. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Donald W. Bond of Topeka; one daughter, Patricia J. Titus of Stafford; two grandchildren; and four great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by one brother, Abel Jay Bond; two halfbrothers; four halfsisters; and one granddaughter, Nancy Poage. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Minnis Chapel in Stafford with the Rev. Ron Moser officiating. Burial will be at Stafford cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m Thursday at the funeral home. Francis J. 'Frank' Ireland 1916-2003
Francis J. 'Frank' Ireland, 87, of Great Bend, died April 15 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. He was born March 31, 1916, at Nelsonville, N.Y., the son of Albert and Katherine Magee Ireland. He married Muriel Hayes in Peekskill, N.Y. She died in 1986. A resident of Great Bend since 1987, coming from Peekskill, he was plant superintendent for Dorwood Inc., in Peekskill. Ireland was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Peekskill. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II. Survivors include two sons, Kevin Ireland of Cortland Manor, N.Y., and James Ireland of Great Bend; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Albert Ireland. Services will be held at a later date at the church in Peekskill. Burial will be at Assumption cemetery in Cortland Manor. Friends may call from noon until 9 tonight at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Memorials are suggested to Great Bend Humane Society, in care of the funeral home.

Margaret M. Paxton 1917-2003
MCPHERSON- Margaret M. Paxton, 86, died April 11 at The Cedars Health Care Center in McPherson. She was born Feb. 24, 1917, at Beaumont, Texas, the daughter of Delbert and Ethel Chandler Moore. She married Fay M. Paxton Jan. 1, 1938, at Guyman, Okla. He died Dec. 26, 1988. A resident of McPherson, coming from Durango, Colo., she was a teacher and homemaker. Mrs. Paxton was a member of First United Methodist Church in Durango, and League of Women Voters. Survivors include two sons, Paul M. Paxton of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and Joseph A. Paxton of Pueblo, Colo.; one daughter, Alice P. Young of Great Bend; one brother, Delbert Moore of Archer City, Texas; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, John W. Paxton. Memorial service will be held at a late date at the church in Durango. There is no visitation, cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home in McPherson.

Teresa Renee Stephans Ramey 1957-2003
GARFIELD - Teresa Renee Stephans Tatman Ramey, 45, died April 12 near Larned as the result of a car accident. She was born Dec. 23, 1957, at Gardena, Calif., the daughter of Clifford Edward and Hope Calico Stephans. She married Robert Ramey. A resident of Garfield coming from Marshall, Texas, Ellinwood and Stafford, she was employed at Dillons in Larned. Survivors include her husband of the home; one daughter, Amanda N. Tatman of Hudson; her parents of Ellinwood; one brother, Dr. Gregory E. Stephans of Gosse Isle, Mich.; and one half brother, Mark Stephans of Las Vegas, Nev. Memorial service was held Monday at Kimple Funeral Home in Ellinwood, with the Rev. Andy Keltner officiating. The body was cremated. Memorials are suggested to Toys for Tots, in care of the funeral home.

Hattie Pundsack 1916-2003
Hattie Pundsack, 86, of Great Bend, died April 12 at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. She was born July 8, 1916, at Pfeifer, the daughter of Herman Joseph and Mary Weigel Linenberger. She married Otto S. Pundsack March 7, 1941, at Kansas City, Mo. He died Oct. 3, 1989. A resident of Great Bend, coming from Seward, she was administrative secretary at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend, retiring in 1981. Mrs. Pundsack was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Altar Society and a charter member of Central Kansas Medical Center Auxiliary, all in Great Bend. Survivors include one son, Donald J. Pundsack of Great Bend; two daughters, Diane Mary Downs of Lincoln City, Ore., and Joanne Kay Pavia of Portland, Ore.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, the Rev. Herbert Linenberger; and three sisters, Helen Hall, Clara Sellers and Laura Brungardt. Altar Society rosary and vigil service was held Monday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Funeral will be at 10:30 this morning at the church, with the Rev. Warren Stecklein officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Cherry Village Living Memorial, in care of the funeral home.
