Willie Jewel Hubble, 76, of Harmons Lick Road, Crab Orchard, died Thursday at his home.
Born in Hustonville, he was a son of the late Guy and Myrtle Sweeney Hubble. He was a member of the Paint Lick Baptist Church in Monticello.
Services will be 6 p.m. today at Smith-Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. O.L. Hughes. Burial will be in Cove Haven Cemetery, Lexington.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today until the time of services.

Melvin D. Gibson
HARRODSBURG -- Melvin Dillard Gibson, 78, of Fairview Court, died Friday at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born March 27, 1922, in Mercer County, he was a son of the late Cliff Gibson and Myrtie Bailey Shewmaker. He was a retired grocery stock manager, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Ellers Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Gibson; two daughters, Lois Ann Vaught and Linda McCrystal, both of Mercer County; a sister, Arthalina Leonard of Harrodsburg; and three grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home. Burial with military rites will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. today and after 7 a.m. Monday.

Marie Martin
STANFORD -- Marie E. Carrier Martin, 82, of West Main Street, Stanford, died Thursday at Fort Logan Hospital.
Born July 17, 1918, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Cordia Miracle Gerkey. She was a former employee of Federal Crop Insurance Services and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Mount Moriah Christian Church and the widow of Ottis Albert Carrier and Tom H. Martin.
Survivors include a son, John Carrier of Stanford; two daughters, Margaret Tillett and Janice Smith, both of Stanford; a sister, Dorothy Young of Stanford; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Alvie Atwood, Frank Isaacs, Larry Lewis, Steve Mullins, Jamie Board and Donnie Pennington.
Honorary pallbearers are Raymond Lewis, Larry Long, Keith Young, Robert Young, Don Young, Jack Blair and Mark Young.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Mount Moriah Christian Church with the Revs. Rob Cox and John Lowry. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery.

James Reece
MIDDLEBURG -- James Frank Reece, 83, of Yosemite died Friday at St. Joseph Hospital.
Born March 27, 1917, in Waynesburg, he was a son of the late John W. and Mae Emma Falconberry Reece. He was a farmer and a retired employee of National Casket Company. He was a World War II veteran and a member of Mount Olive Christian Church. He was the widower of Ruth M. Reece.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Jean Patton of Campbellsville and Charlene R. Pittman of Lockland, Ohio; four sisters, Pearl Short of Stanford, Elveree Hatter of Shelbyville and Magdalene Sims and Wilma Hatter, both of Kings Mountain; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Mount Olive Christian Church with the Rev. Greg Powell. Burial will be in Salyers Cemetery.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at Bartle Funeral Home, Middleburg.

Lola M. Shewmaker
Lola Mae "Birchie" Shewmaker, 87, formerly of the Hilltop community, died Saturday at Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born Aug. 10, 1913, in Washington County, she was a daughter of the late Jim and Eller Parrott Watts. She was a former employee of the Avalon Inn and a member of the Battle Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three daughters, Elizabeth Jewell Shewmaker, Wanda Kay Shewmaker and Rhonda Baker, all of Harrodsburg; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Two daughters, Glenda Hume and Jean Shewmaker, preceded her in death.
Services will be 3:30 p.m. Monday at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.

John F. Short
Services for John F. Short, 78, of Erskine Drive are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home by the Revs. Earl Burnside and Ernest Martin. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.

He died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born Nov. 30, 1922, in Clay County, he was a son of the late Leonard and Laura Greer Short. He was co-owner of Ideal Cleaners and a member of Junction City Baptist Church. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, earning three Bronze Stars. He was a former member of the American Legion, Boyle Post No. 46.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Brent Short; a daughter, Elaine Short Carlson of Danville; two brothers, Rollie and Roy Short, both of Stanford; two sisters, Diana Hurst of Hamilton, Ohio, and Sallie Boggs of Connersville, Ind.; two grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be Burton Carlson, Leonard Upton, Sonny Barker, Bill Wiggs, Tim Scott, Leroy McElfresh, Norman Ferrell and Jimmy Cloyd.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Sunday School class at Junction City Baptist Church.

MORELAND -- Services for Geraldine Burke, 52, of Lexington, formerly of Casey County, are 2 p.m. today at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. John Jessup. Burial will be in Reed Cemetery, Casey County.
She died Thursday at Samaritan Hospital, Lexington.
Born April 6, 1948, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Ruby and George Pemberton. She was a member of Revival Tabernacle Church in Lexington.
Survivors include four sons, Mike Flannery of Laurel County, Eddie and Doug Flannery, both of Lexington, and Jeffery Flannery of Jackson; a daughter, Karen S. McCray of Lexington; three sisters, Bertha M. Taylor and Virginia P. Todd, both of Lexington, and Shirley A. Gilpin of Berea; eight grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.

HARRODSBURG -- Jacob Edward Honaker, 2-month-old son of Terry and Julie Logue Honaker, died Wednesday at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 28.

Born Sept. 22, 1927, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Reid and Ruby Wall Spaw. He was a retired farmer, an Army veteran of World War II, the widower of Shirley Murphy Spaw and a member of Rich Hill Church of Christ.
Survivors include three sons, Michael and Anthony Spaw, both of Cincinnati, and Donald Spaw of Morning View; a sister, Faith Hensley of Princeton; and three grandchildren.
Services will be noon Saturday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by Kenny Spaw. Burial will be in Valley Oak Cemetery with military rites by the Casey County Funeral Squad.
