Stanley Johnson
Stanley “Blackjack” Johnson, 53, of Long Fork of Virgie, died, Thursday Oct. 18, 2012 at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 1, 1959 in Dorton, the son of Violet Fouts Johnson Fleming of Long Fork of Virgie and the late Sterling Johnson.
He was member of the Speight Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Gene Johnson; and two sisters, Wanda Kaye Johnson and Eloise Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Patterson Johnson; two daughters, Ashely Hensley of Hamilton, Ohio, Kimberly Owens of Banner; one sister, Rhonda Johnson of Long Fork; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 21, at Speight Church of Christ with Brad Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Stanley Johnson Cemetery at Beaver Fork of Long Fork.
Visitation will be at the church with nightly services at 7 p.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hall and Jones Funeral Home, Virgie.
Ronald Pyszkowski
Ronald Eugene “Ronnie” “Big E” Pyszkowski, 61, of Forest Hills, died Friday Oct. 19, 2012, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.
He was born April 10, 1951, in Jacksonville, Fla. to the late Joseph John Pyszkowski Sr. and Carmine Loretta Adkins Pyszkowski.
He was retired from N & S Railroad as a yard engineer after 40 years and three months. He was a member of the Forest Hills Baptist Church, UTU, Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph John Pyszkowski Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Kay “Sherry” Staton Pyszkowski; three daughters; Cindy Lynn Andersen of Forest Hills, Kristy Renee Barrett of Forest Hills, and Lisa Ann (Jason) Estepp of New Camp; two brothers, Roger Pyszkowski of Pineville, W.Va. and Ralph Pyszkowski of Palm Bay, Fla.; one sister; Andrea Smith of Palm Bay, Fla.; six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon Monday Oct. 22, 2012. at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with Ralph Pyszkowski Jr. and Jason Estepp officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Sunday night at the funeral home. R. E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry, Ky. is in charge of arrangements.
James Ratliff
James Palmer Ratliff, 86, of Pikeville, died, Oct. 18, 2012 at Eastern Kentucky Veteran Center.
He was born Aug. 22, 1926, in Pike County, the son of the late Virgil and Ollie Mullins Ratliff.
He served as Navy Seabee during World War II.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Blake Ratliff.
He is survived by his wife, Genevieve Ratliff Ratliff; two sons, Jim Ratliff and Jerry Ratliff both of Pikeville; a stepdaughter, Wanda Williams, of Michigan; and one sister, Marie Childers of Allen; and six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Saturday, October 20, at Immanuel Baptist Church with Mike Sanders and Arnold Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Memorial Park.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lucas and Son Funeral Home, Pikeville.
Darrell Robinson
Darrell Wesley Robinson, 34 of LaFollette, Tenn. formerly of Slaters Branch, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at the UT Medical Center, Knoxville, Tenn.
He was born Oct. 12, 1978, at South Williamson, the son of Tammy Hager Robinson of Falls Branch and James Darrell Robinson of McAndrews.
He was the owner of Robinson Electrical in LaFollette. He was a graduate of Marshall University in 2002 and enjoyed meeting with his Mountain Club.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Lyne Hatfield Robinson of LaFollette; a daughter, Taylor Brook Hatfield of the home; a son, Cameron Wesley Robinson of the home; a brother, Dane Hager Robinson of Falls Branch; grandparents, Margaret and Charlie Blackburn of Falls Branch, and Aggie Hager of Chattaroy, W.Va.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, in the Belfry High School Auditorium with John Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Hatfield Family Cemetery, Ransom.

Judy Smallwood
Judy Faye Cooper Smallwood, 62, of Pikeville, died Oct. 18, 2012.
She was born April 29, 1950, at Booneville, the daughter of the late Ance and Zetta Fox Cooper.
She worked in Dr. Charles Wilson’s office and as a teacher at Millard High School.
She is survived be her son Jimmy Smallwood of Pikeville; three sisters, Frieda Cooper Sizemore of Beattyville, Vicky Cooper of Booneville, and Donna Gail Cooper Shoemaker of Booneville.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Jubilee Christian Assembly at Pikeville with Randy Damron officiating. Burial will follow in the Bevins Cemetery at Upper Chloe with Bob Justice officiating.
Visitation is Sunday after 6 p.m. at the church with services at 7 p.m.
Arrangements are under direction of Hall of Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.
Ronald Nathan Smith
Ronald Nathan Smith, 30, of Betsy Layne, died Oct. 19, 2012.
He was born in Pike County, Sept. 18, 1982 the son of Sherry (Allen) Sanders and Ronald “Bo” (Sherry) Smith.
He served his country proudly in the United States Army and was a member of the Faith First Baptist Church of Regina.
Besides his parents he is survived by his wife Terri Remick Smith; one son, Nathan Hayes Smith of Betsy Layne; three brothers, Nick Smith of Millard, Josh Sanders of Elkhorn City, and Brandon Elswick of Louisville.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 22, at 1 p.m. at Thacker Memorial Chapel with Charles Justice officiating. Burial will follow at the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Saturday.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Thacker Memorial funeral Home of Pikeville.
Tommy Bennett
Tommy Michael "Mike" Bennett, 47, of Elkhorn City, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at his home.
He was born in Pike County, May 22, 1965, the son of the late Kenneth Willard Bennett and Mae Potter Bennett.
He was a truck driver.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Hylton Bennett.
He is survived by one son, Michael Wayne Bennett of Elkhorn City; one daughter, Fatima LeAnn Bennett of Elkhorn City; nine siblings, Jerry, Linda, Brenda, Kenny, David, Jeannie, Debbie, Tammy and Dwayne; and one grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Jim Ed Belcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Elkhorn City Cemetery. Arrangements are under direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Elkhorn City.
Donald Blankenship
Donald Blankenship, 72, of Stopover, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at his home.
He was born in Argo, April 12, 1940, the son of the late Floyd Blankenship and Linda Keene Blankenship.
He was a retired coal miner and a member of the Pentecostal Church.
He is survived by one daughter, Tonya Belcher of Stopover; one brother, Doug Blankenship; two sisters, Hazel Fowler and Bobbie Ferrell, both of Cincinnati; four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, Oct. 24, in the Stopover Church of God with Pastors Harold Layne and Johnny Fields officiating. Burial will follow in the Blankenship Family Cemetery, Stopover. Arrangements are under direction of Phelps Funeral Services of Phelps.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the church with special services at 7:30 p.m.
Joe Blankenship
Rev. Joe Blankenship, 72, of Majestic, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born in Argo, April 22, 1940, the son of the late Ed and Stella Baker Blankenship.
He was a retired coal miner, having worked for KBC Mining, and was a member of the Woodman Community Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Edward "Buddy" Blankenship; and one sister, Janice Rose.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Jean Sanson Blankenship; five brothers, Bobby Blankenship of McCarr, Willie Blankenship of Argo, Marvin Blankenship and Grover Blankenship, both of Bucyrus, Ohio, William Blankenship of Phelps; three sisters, Pauline Stump of Pikeville, and Kathleen Bryant and Phyllis Sweeny, both of Bucyrus, Ohio; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, in the R.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Odis Blankenship and the Rev. Larry Rife officiating. Burial will follow in the Blankenship Cemetery, Argo. Arrangements are under direction of R.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home of Phelps.
Bobby Deel
Bobby Charles Deel, 65, of Pikeville, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born in Pike County, April 5, 1947, the son of the late Reathel Deel Blackburn.
He was a retired police officer.
He is survived by one brother, Jimmy Harold Deel of Pikeville.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, Chloe Road. Arrangements are under direction of Thacker Memorial Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Franklin Hall
Franklin D. Hall, 77, of Weeksbury, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born in Floyd County, Nov. 8, 1935, the son of the late Madison Hall and Anzie Tackett Hall.
He was a disabled coal miner.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geneve Johnson Hall; brothers; and one sister, Jewel Hall.
He is survived by three sons, Ricky Hall, Morris Hall and Roger Hall, all of Weeksbury; one daughter, Janet Tackett of Melvin; seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, in the Joppa Old Regular Baptist Church with Spencer Hall and others officiating. Burial followed in the Johnson Cemetery, Weeksbury. Arrangements were under direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Robinson Creek.
