Rhonda Varney
Rhonda Sue Varney, 45, of Belfry, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born in Williamson, W.Va., March 12, 1967, the daughter of the late Douglas McArthur and Barbara Gail Amburn Smith.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her husband, Lonnie James Varney Jr.; two sons, Kasey James Varney of Cadiz and William Kenneth Varney of the home; one daughter, Leslie Marienda Varney of Morehead; and one sister, Rebecca Sue Roberts of Atlanta.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, in the Williamson Area Church of Christ with Troy Roach officiating. Arrangements are under direction of R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
John Young
John Calvin "J.C." Young, 85, of Lawrenceburg, formerly of Toler, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at his home.
He was born in Pike County, Oct. 17, 1927, the son of the late Earl and Minnie Smith Young.
He was a carman for the N&W Railroad for 46 years, where he was known as Jake to all of his railroad comrades. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of the First Baptist Church of Belfry.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta Young; one son, Randy Young of Lawrenceburg; two daughters, Tami Young and Karen Young Harris, both of Lawrenceburg; one brother, Roger Young of Indianapolis; one sister, Pauline Pinson of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, in Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy. Arrangements are under direction of R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Belfry Chapter #141 Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 152, Delbarton, WV 25670.
Russell Christian
Russell Edward “Bo” Christian, 60, of Delbarton, W.Va., died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at Logan Regional Hospital, Logan, W.Va.
He was born in Panther, W.Va., April 13, 1952, the son of the late Robert Russell and Dolly Hagy Christian.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jimmy Ray Christian, Robert Winnie Christian and Ronnie Christian.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Blankenship Christian; one son, Russell Ed Christian; one daughter, Samantha Bowechop; one stepdaughter, Stephanie Blankenship Willis; one brother, Leon Lester; three sisters, Gene Marder, Linda Giannola and Dorothy Hipps; six grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, in the Chafin Funeral Home Chapel, Delbarton. Special services will be held at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Ceburn Blankenship officiating.
Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, Dec. 4, in the Montclair-Lucainia Funeral Home Chapel, Chicago, with burial following in the Elm Lawn Cemetery, Chicago. Arrangements are under direction of Chafin Funeral Home of Delbarton.
Teresa Kilgore
Teresa Lynn Kennedy Kilgore, 54, of Pikeville, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012 at her residence.
She was born Feb. 15, 1958, in Pikeville, the daughter of William J. and Doris M. Kennedy.
She was a homemaker and a seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by her mother; two sons, Justin Kilgore of Lexington and Nathaniel Kilgore of Virginia Beach, Va.; a brother John F. Kennedy of Pikeville; one grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at J.W. Call Funeral Home with Shane Lockard officiating.
Visitation is from noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of J.W. Call Funeral Home.
John Potter
John Emil” Hoover” Potter, 77, of Breaks, Va., died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 42, 1935, at Jenkins, the son of the late General Quay and Edna Childers Potter.
He was a coal miner and a logger.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Katy Potter Mullins and a brother, Paul Baker.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Harris Potter; five sons, John Morris Potter of Huntington, Ind. Steven Potter of Bluefield, W.Va., Anthony Potter, Brian Potter and Shawn Potter, all of Breaks, Va.; tow daughters Leetta (Kevin) Puckett of Breaks and Gisele Lynn (Michael) Neace of Whitesburg; three sisters, Mary (Jack) Smallwood, and Sharon Kelly, both of Mooresburg, Tenn. and Peggy Swindall of Ashcamp; eight grandchildren, Miranda Norman, Jon Daniel Potter, Megan Potter, Tyler Potter, Cody Potter, Kaitlyn Puckett, Colby Puckett and Kevin Ray Puckett II; three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home, Elkhorn City.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.
Margaret Smith
Margaret Johnson Smith of Wheeling, W.Va., formerly of Matewan, W.Va., died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, in Wheeling.
Arrangements were incomplete at presstime and will be announced by Chambers Funeral Service of Matewan.
Donald Williams
Donald Truis Williams, 85, of Mossy Bottom, Pikeville, went home to be with his Lord, Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, with his wife and daughters by his bedside.
He was born at Big Shoal, Ky., Nov. 14, 1927, the son of the late Raney and Grace Younce Williams.
Donald was a born again Christian and a member of the Immauel Baptist Church where he thoroughly enjoyed his Sunday School Class.
He was a service manager and master mechanic for the Wells Motor Co. for 41 years.
Donald served his country as a clerk in the Army during World War II in Germany for 4 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Juanita, of 63 years and his four daughters, Linda Karen (Donovan) Bertrand, Judith Ann (Terry) Wellman, Reta Kay (David) Gooch, and Pamela Denise Keathley (Buddie) Delpont, all of Pikeville.
Four sisters, Treva Wallace of Wyandotte, Mich., Joetta Sorenson, of Pomeroy, Wash., Uthana Hunt of Taylor, Mich. and Juanita Compton of Hi Hat; one brother, Lowell Williams of Gross Isle, Mich.; six grandchildren, Melissa Rene' Robinson, Stephen Randall Wellman, Donita Michelle Slone, Anthony Blake Fields, Phillip Donald Keathley and Zakary Allen Keathley; five Great-grandchildren, Seth Kiser, Ross Kiser, Reese Slone, Cade Slone, Blake Michael Fields and a host of nieces and nephews and loving friends.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Papaw Don's Grandsons and Great-grandsons. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Don's Sunday School Class.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at the Immanuel Baptist Church with Mike Sanders and Sam Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens at Ivel.
Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Sunday in the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel.

Melvin Adams Jr.
Melvin Adams Jr., 55, of Grethel, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born in Rochester, N.Y., Oct. 2, 1957, the son of the late Verdie Akers Adams Hall and Melvin Adams.
He was a general laborer and attended the Tackett Fork Freewill Baptist Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in the death by three brothers, John B. Adams, Robert Adams and Michael Adams.
He is survived by his wife, Linda White Adams; two sons, Dwayne White of Beaver and Brian Adams of Ligon; one daughter, Miranda Gayheart of Johnson County; three brothers, Norman Adams of Gallipolis, Ohio, Carl Adams of Rochester and Melvin Adams Jr. of McDowell; two sisters, Joyce Adams of Rochester and Betty Slone of Wheelwright; 11 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, in the Tackett Fork Freewill Baptist Church, Beaver, with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbury Hall Cemetery, Galveston. Arrangements are under direction of Nelson Frazier Funeral Home of Martin.
Andy Anderson
Andy Anderson, 39, of Draffin, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at Mountain View Health Care Center, Elkhorn City.
He was born in Pikeville, Jan. 13, 1973, the son of Shirley Stewart Coleman of Draffin and the late Larry Anderson.
He was a coal miner.
Besides his mother, he is survived by two sons, Trey Anderson and A.J. Anderson, both of Draffin; one daughter, Kendra Savannah Anderson of South Carolina; and two sisters, Amanda Blackburn and Angela Martin, both of South Carolina.
Memorials may be made to Mountain View Health Care Center, Elkhorn City.
Marji Blackburn
Marji "Bunny" Blackburn, 63, of Pinsonfork, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born at Pinsonfork, Nov. 6, 1949, the daughter of Foy Ann Ballou Pinson of Sun City, Ariz., and the late George Pinson.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Wesleyan Church.
Besides her father, she was preceded in death by one brother, Craig Pinson.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Blackburn; one son, Chris Blackburn of Concord, N.C.; one brother, Jamie Pinson of Drift; one sister, Andrea Rogers of Peoria, Ariz.; and two grandchildren, Hope Blackburn and Tyler Blackburn.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, in the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Pope and J.R. Blackburn officiating. Burial followed in the Rutherford Cemetery, Huddy. Arrangements were under direction of R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
Debra Blankenship
Debra Beavers Blankenship, 53, of Edgarton, W.Va., died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
She was born in Mingo County, W.Va., Aug. 26, 1959, the daughter of the late Johnnie Beavers and Georgia Hyatt Bailey.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Rotary Club of Matewan, W.Va., and a member of the Stopover Church of God.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandchild, Ethan Ryan Sincell.
She is survived by her husband, Anthony C. Blankenship Jr.; one daughter, Amanda Gillman; one stepson, Keith Blankenship of Matewan, W.Va.; one brother, Johnnie Beavers Jr. of Edgarton; one sister, Karen Browning of Edgarton; and two grandchildren, Devin and Kayelea.

Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, Dec. 5, in the Chambers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harold Layne and the Rev. Hiram Justice officiating.
