Bobby Elswick
Bobby Ray Elswick, 78, died Nov. 27, 2012.
He was born June 29, 1934 in Elkhorn City, the son of the late Otis and Mary Elswick.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After is military service, he moved to florida where he owned television sales and repair shops.
He was precede in death by a brother, Bill Elswick; and a sister Peggy Perkins.
He is survived by his wife Betty; two sisters, Christine Hunter, ann Massey; two daughters Cindy Beute, Marcy Anderson; and two grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held Dec. 9 at Daytona Christian Church.
Bonnie Goble
Bonnie Sue Goble, 64, of Sprigg, W.Va., died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at her home.
She was born in Hatfield, Aug. 15, 1948, the daughter of the late Edgar and Bladdene Webb Goble.
She was a school teacher, dedicating most of her teaching years to kindergarten students at Varney Grade School and Matewan Elementary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold Ray Goble and Ronald Dale Goble; and two sisters, Lois Jean McCoy and Lillian Carol Marcum.
She is survived by two brothers, William Harvey Goble and Clifford Lee Goble; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, in the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Mountain View Memory Gardens, Maher, W.Va. Arrangements are under direction of R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
Jimmy Fleming
Jimmy Fleming, 74, died Dec. 5, 2011, in Pikeville.
He was born April 21, 1938 in Virgie, the son of the late Warren and Thelma Little Fleming.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Germany. He was an early IBM programmer and worked at Insley Manufacturing in Indianapolis, Del Tura Country Club and the Eye Centers of Florida, both in Fort Myers, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Glen Fleming.
He is survived by two sons, Michael James Fleming and David Charles Fleming, both of Indianapolis; two sisters, Delta Fern Baker and Johna Lynn Cline, both of Indianapolis; and a grandchild, Christina Fleming Stone and two great-grandchildren.
There will be no services.
Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Indianapolis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be sent to the American Cancer Society.

Benjamin Gommels
Benjamin R. Gommels, 2 months and 4 days old, of Steele, went home to be with Jesus, Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at his home.
He was born Sept. 28, 2012, the son of Dale Edward and Amanda Leigh Ray Gommels of Steele.
Benjamin was so precious and was loved by his family so much.
He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Jennifer Lynn Fuller and Pamela Sue Boock Ray.
Besides his parents, he is survived by one sister, Pamela Leigh of the home; one brother, Dale Edward Jr. of the home; his paternal grandfather, Eldon Dean Gommels of Iowa; his maternal grandparents, Jack and Terry Ray of Iowa; one aunt, Amy Blair of Iowa; three uncles, Jeremiah Ray, Ralph Ray and Robert Rosenow, all of Iowa; his great-grandparents, Edward and Bessie Fuller of Steele; and a host of cousins, friends and family who will miss him dearly.
A special thank you to all our friends, family, and loved ones who have brought food, prayed and all the kind words that we received during our time of loss.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, in the State Line Pentecostal Church with burial following in the Jones Creek Cemetery, Feds Creek. Arrangements were under direction of Thacker Memorial Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Albert Hall
Albert Hall, 59, of Delbarton, W.Va., died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Williamson Memorial Hospital, Williamson, W.Va.
He was born in Pennsylvania, May 9, 1953, the son of the late Ernest Hall Sr. and the late Verna Whitt Hall of Delbarton.
He was a former police officer and security guard.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Stafford; one son, Brian Keith Hall; one brother, Ernest Hall Jr.; and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Koepke.
He is survived by one daughter, Tammy Chambers of Varney, W.Va.; six sons, Timothy Hall of Ikes Fork, W.Va., William Stafford and Warren Stafford, both of Delbarton, Ronald Stafford of North Carolina, James Stafford and Bill Stafford, both of Kentucky; four sisters, Betty Burke of Columbus, Ohio, Delores Brewster of Williamson, Evelyn Edinger of Hadley, Pa., Barbara Rovetto of Hillsboro, N.C.; one brother, Edgar Hall Sr. of Delbarton; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, in the Hatfield Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tommy Ellis and Alton Hannah officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memory Gardens, Maher, W.Va. Arrangements are under direction of Hatfield Funeral Chapel of Toler.
Mary Manning
Mary Elizabeth Potter Manning, 94, of Union, formerly of Elkhorn City, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at her home.
She was born in Elkhorn City, Jan. 8, 1918, the daughter of the late Willie Potter and Paralee Ratliff Potter.
She was retired from U.S. Steel as a research metallurgist.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Manning; two brothers, Eugene Potter and James Potter; and two sisters, Lillie “Chic” Grundman and Edith Addington.
Burial will be in Johnson Memorial Park, Pikeville. Arrangements are under direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Elkhorn City.
Thelma McPherson
Thelma McPherson, 84, of Jenkins, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at her home.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Burdine Freewill Baptist Church, where she was a member of the ladies auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lavonna Osborne Mullins; her husband, John Henry McPherson; one son, Danny R. McPherson; and three sisters, Ruth Massey, Ada Pauley and Elaine Hernan.
She is survived by four daughters, Dianne Dulimba of Wyandotte, Mich., Darlene Lyons of Cedar Bluff, Va., Linda Petty of Southgate, Mich. and Donna Harvey of Wise, Va.; one son, John J. McPherson of Jenkins; four sisters, Louella Swindall of Big Stone Gap, Va., Virginia Hudson of Allen Park, Mich., Rebecca Williams of Southgate, Carol Bentley of Pound, Va.; 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, in the Sadie Baker Memorial Chapel with Pastor Benny McCall officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Acres Cemetery, Whitesburg. Arrangements are under direction of Baker Funeral Home of Pound.
Boyd Mounts
Boyd Mounts, 86, of Gilbert, W.Va., died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at his home.
He was born in Lindsey, W.Va., Aug. 23, 1926, the son of the late Floyd and Lilly (Mounts) Mounts.
He was a disabled coal miner formerly employed by Lynn Land Coal Company, a member of United Mine Workers of America, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War (1951-1953), formerly with the Infantry 3rd Division, and was a member of the Browning Fork House of Faith.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Boyd Mounts and Terry Wayne Mounts; two sisters, Nettie Stacy and Bessie Scites; and five brothers, Floyd Mounts Jr., Joe Mounts, Howard Mounts, Wayne Mounts and Elmer Mounts.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Hatfield Mounts; three daughters, Benita Mounts of Browning Fork, Tammy Fenster of Nicholasville, Tonya Hatfield of Inez; three grandchildren, Adam-Kyle Brewster, Tyler Wayne Mounts and Amy Leigh Fenster; and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, Dec. 7, in the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Diamond Carter and the Rev. Lowell Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, W.Va. Arrangements are under direction of Mounts Funeral Home of Gilbert.
Graveside military services will be conducted by DAV Chapter 141.
Carolynn Ratliff
Carolynn Sue Ratliff, 67, of Englewood, Fla., formerly of Pikeville, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Tidewell Hospice, Venice, Fla.
She was born in Grundy, Va., Jan. 29, 1945, the daughter of the late Kermit and Gladys Rife Smith.
She was a homemaker and a charter member of the East Englewood Church of Christ.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jim Ratliff; one daughter, Suzanne Canada of Pikeville; one son, Jimmie D. Ratliff of Englewood; and three grandchildren, Joshua Tyler Ratliff, Boden Christopher Canada and Jordyn Caroline Canada.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, in the East Englewood Church of Christ. Arrangements are under direction of Englewood Community Funeral Home.

Jon Sanders
Jon Preston Sanders, 38, of Chicago, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012.
He was born in Pikeville, Dec. 26, 1973, the son of Larry and Johndra F. Sanders of Danville.
He was an environmental attorney, and a member of the bar in New York and Illinois.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Suzanne G. Sanders; two children, Preston Foster Sanders and Violet Siera Sanders, both of Chicago; and one sister, Ashley Sanders of Lexington.
A celebration of Jon’s Life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, in the Preston Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel.
