Kimilia Denise Bennett
Kimilia Denise Bennett, 52, of Pikeville, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, at the Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born in Pikeville, May 22, 1964, the daughter of Floella Irick Buckley and the late Dwight Phillip Buckley.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Stone Coal Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Russell “Bob” Bennett; two sons, Michael Bennett of Akron, Ohio and Jarrett Lee King of Pikeville; three daughters, Crystal Bustami of Florence, S. Car., Lisa Lyons of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Alex-Andrea King of Pikeville; one brother, Phillip Buckley Jr. (Angela) of Shelbiana; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two nieces, Tara Buckley and Alyssa Buckley.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at the J.W. Call Funeral Home, with Pastor Tim Daniels and Robert Justice officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery at Shelbiana.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday, with nightly services at 7. Arrangements are under the direction of the J.W. Call Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Edwin Lee “Eddie” Hamilton
Edwin Lee “Eddie” Hamilton, 80, of Pikeville, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born at Wayland, Jan. 13, 1936, the son of the late Lester and Otella Stewart Hamilton.
He was a conductor for CSX Railroad, a member of the El Hasa Temple, York Rites, Scottish Rites, the Thomas C. Cecil #375 F&AM and the Hillbilly Clan #1 Outhouse #2, and a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Air Force.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Jean Lake.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Billiter Hamilton; two sons, Dana C. Hamilton (Sandy) of Pikeville and Mark L. Hamilton (Wendy) of Robinson Creek; three grandchildren, Timothy R. Robinson, Brittany Lea Hamilton Morley, and Cody C. Hamilton; and three great-grandchildren, Sydney Morley, Wyatt Morley, and Walker Morley.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel with John George Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Memorial Park. Military rites will be conducted by the Johns Creek DAV Chapter.
Visitation will begin after 6 p.m. Friday. Special services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday. Masonic Services by Thomas C Cecil Lodge #375 F&AM will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday. Arrangements are under the direction of the J.W. Call Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Serving as Pallbearers will be: Cody Hamilton, Brock Morley, Rick Smith, Curt Robertson, Ronnie Robertson, Zach Howell, Vince Howell, and Bruce Howell.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jackie Lake, Larry Lake, Tim Robinson, Wyatt Morley, Walker Morley, Eddie Smith, Anthony Bevins, Jason Bevins, and Skip Gilbert.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in his memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children 1900 Richmond Road, Lexington, Ky. 40502.
Mabel Mullins
Mabel Mullins, 85, of Dorton, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, at her residence.
She was born in Pike County, March 1, 1931, the daughter of the late Delano “Dee” and Rosie Wright Mullins.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Dorton General Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Jonathon Wayne Milam; five brothers, Franklin, Vilice, Carl, Clarence, and Andy Mullins; and two sisters, Derotha Bentley and Gracie Baker.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean Denise Richardson (Donald) of Everetts, Wash. and DeAnn Adkins; two sisters, Julie Ruth Hopson and Spicie Jean Belcher; and one grandchild, Madison Stevens.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at the Dorton General Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Wright Cemetery at Dorton.
Visitation is all day Saturday, with services at 7. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Darrell Gene Smith
Darrell Gene Smith, 76, of McCarr, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, at the Pikeville Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Jeff Dotson, Shawn Dotson, Raymond Stanley, and Larry Slone officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy.
Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with special services nightly at 7. Arrangements are under the direction of the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
Brenda Adkins
Brenda Kay Adkins, 66, of Dry Fork, Shelbiana, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2016, at the Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born in Pike County, July 7, 1950, the daughter of the late Virgil and Thelma Coleman Huffman.
She was employed in the Collections Department at Community Trust Bank and was a member of the Greasy Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Adkins; one daughter, Trista Danielle Abshire (James); four sisters, Wanda Sue Damron, Donna Keene, Teresa Huffman, and Leshia Keene; one brother, Paul Huffman; and four grandchildren, Kayla, Josh, Elijah, and Arabella.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at the Greasy Creek Freewill Baptist Church with Jimmy Jack Adkins and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman Cemetery at Lower Pompey.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday, at the church, with nightly services at 7. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Alice Burke
Alice Burke, 86, of Myra, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, at her residence.
She was born on Jan. 28, 1930, to the late Dante Parris and Stella Mae Minton Parris.
She was a member of the Virgie Missionary Alliance Church and had worked as a sales clerk at Sears.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Parris; and two sisters, Christine Pickett and Geneva Knox.
She is survived by her husband, of 67 years and 5 months, Robert C. Burke; one son, Robert Gordon Burke of Jenkins; four daughters, Evelyn Pence of Myra, Terri Joan Walters of Wellington, Christina Lynn Wright of Wellington, and Melanie Brooke Mudd of Louisville; 18 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at the Virgie Alliance Church with Donald Tackett and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Burke Cemetery at Myra. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hall and Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.
Virginia Carroll
Virginia Carroll, 88, of Elkhorn City, died Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements were under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Inc. of Elkhorn City.
Jerry Chaney
Jerry Lean Chaney, 59, of Frozen Creek, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, at his residence.
He was born in Pike County, Oct. 20, 1956, the son of the late Buster and Emma Lee Anderson Chaney.
He was employed by the state highway department.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara Bentley, Rachelle Chaney; and an infant brother.
He is survived by his wife, Alethea Chaney of Frozen Creek; children, Darci Emma Lee Chaney, Misty Smith (Adam) of Frozen Creek, and Debra Lynn Ratliff (Jeremy) of Pikeville; brothers, Roger Chaney (Judy) of Lower Pompey, Rodney Chaney of Grapevine, and Robert Chaney of Chloe Road; sisters, Sandra Bentley of Fords Branch and Patricia Hopkins (Jimmy) of Dorton; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at the Community Funeral Home Chapel with Shan Lockard officiating. Burial followed in the Bent Ridge Cemetery at Meta. Arrangements were under the direction of the Community Funeral Home of Zebulon.
Gordon Damron
Gordon Damron, 62, of Hellier, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, at the Pikeville Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Arnold Thornsberry, Kevin Damron, and Frank Holbrook officiating. Burial will follow in the Damron Family Cemetery at Allegheny.
Visitation is from 6 to 10 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Inc. of Elkhorn City.
Rusty Goff
Rusty Goff, 45, of Shelbiana, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2016, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
He was born in Pikeville, July 10, 1971, the son of Clyde Vernon Goff and the late Luvetta Nichols Goff.
He graduated from Millard High School, attended Morehead College and Nashville Auto Diesel College, and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Sutton Baptist Church, Pike County Sheriff Department, and the Fraternal Order of Police. He enjoyed life, adored his family, loved being with his friends, and was an inspiration to all.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Tammy Coleman Goff of Shelbiana; one son, Cody Goff of Louisville; a daughter Katie Goff; his father Clyde V. Goff of Shelbiana; one brother, Clyde Ray Goff (Gwen) of Shelbiana; and one sister Rhonda Tackett (Stacey) of Banner.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday Oct. 15, at the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Scott Tackett and Kaminski Robinson officiating. DAV honors will be performed by Johns Creek Chapter #166. Burial will follow in the Goff Family Cemetery at Millard.
Visitation is all day Friday. Arrangements are under the direction of the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home of Pikeville.
He will be forever loved and missed.
Shelby Little
Shelby Jean Little, 65, of Sookeys Creek, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, at the Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born in Floyd County, Jan. 5, 1951, the daughter of the late Will and Elizabeth Bryant Little.
She was retired from BellSouth and a believer of the baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter Little, Tommy Little, and Carl Little; and one sister, Pat Little.
She is survived by one brother, Willis Little; four sisters, Sharon Salyer, Peggy Convery, Sada Napier, and Helen Ray; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Brian Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Memorial Park.
Visitation will start at 6 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
