Frankie Fonda Scott
Frankie Fonda Scott, 77, of Tom’s Creek, Ivel, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born in Pike County, Dec. 6, 1938, the son of the late Carl Cecil and Pearlie Bryan Scott Scott.
He was employed in the banking industry, a member of the Army National Guard Reserves and of the Jehovah Witness faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former spouse, Betty Louise Webb Scott and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Butler Scott; two daughters, Kathy Lynn Scott Williamson and Lisa Bank; two step-daughters, Angela Hackney and Carly Montgomery; two sisters, Carneda Ruth Roach and Helen Williams; a special niece, Suzanne Roach Robinette; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, in the Lucas & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Heiko Giese officiating. Burial will follow in the Scott family Cemetery, Blackberry.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday.
Dorothy Ann Tucker
Dorothy Ann Tucker, 75, of Pikeville, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born at Dorton, Aug. 19, 1940, a daughter of the Late Ed and Bertha Hall Kinney.
She was a heavy equipment operator, a member of the United States Steel Workers Local #14581 and a member of the Church of God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Tucker; two sisters, Edna Thompson and Ida Lamb; and three brothers, Billy Hall, Bobby Hall and Jerry Hall.
She is survived by three sons, Walter Tucker, Ricky Tucker and James Tucker (Stacey) all of Pikeville; one daughter, Brenda Crum (Bud) of Pikeville; two brothers, Curtis Hall of Shelbiana and Russell Hall of Chloe Road; four sisters, Ginger Richardson of Paintsville, Betty Stanley of Johns Creek, Faye Taylor of Elkhorn City and Cindy McClutcheons of Floyd County; six grandchildren, Chris Chaney, Josh Crum, Jami Slone, Kristin Kiser, Cody Tucker and Jamesan Tucker; and 10 great-grandchildren, Jason Samons, Kenie Slone, Tayler Slone, Aidan Chaney, Landon Slone, Caden Hall, Callie Hall, Kolton Kiser, Lennon Kiser and Brenden Chaney.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug, 9 at the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel, Bud Crum, William Jarrells and John Ruben officiated. Burial followed in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, Chloe. Arrangements were under the direction of The J.W. Call Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Eleanor Irene Ritchie
Eleanor Irene Ritchie, 91, of Pikeville, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016, in Hazard.
She was born in Hazard, Aug. 24, 1924, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Calvert.
She was a gifted artist. Her paintings are displayed in numerous places.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Watson Ritchie; one son, Russell Scott Ritchie; and two sisters, Audrey Combs and Sophie Gilbert.
She is survived by her loving children, Marion Watson “Ikie” Ritchie III of Pikeville and Linda Renee Ritchie of Dwale; and three grandsons, Watson Ritchie, Donald Wayne Smith, Jr. and Paxton Shane McGuire.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, at the Immanuel Baptist Church at Mullins with Mike Sanders, Sam Crawford and Larry Keen officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery, Hazard.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at the church, with nightly services beginning at 7. Arrangements are under the direction of Thacker Memorial Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Eleanor will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her.
James Michael Adkins
James Michael Adkins, 57, of Upper Pompey Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016, at his home, surrounded by family.
He was on Feb. 11, 1959, the son of the late Ireland and Opal Slone Adkins.
He was a member of the Louisa Primitive Baptist Church. He was a devoted and loving husband, father papaw, brother, uncle and friend. He was a blessed man and those who knew him, were also blessed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Russell Adkins; his daughter, Tabatha Adkins Varney; and his father-in-law, Dee Bevins.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Bevins Adkins; his daughter, Leslie Adkins; six grandchildren, Abigail Varney, Gloria Pearl Spears, Charlie Michael Leedy, Laci Sue Adkins, Lilli Varney and Emma Adkins; three brothers, Harold Adkins (Deanna), Ronald Adkins (Jodi) and Tony Adkins (Kathy); eight sisters, Phyllis Smith (Johnny), Sue Thompson (Johnny), Bonnie May (Arnold), Mary Brown (Mark), Mitzi Rowe (Sam), Doreen Compton (Jeff), Marquetta Thacker (Chris) and Betty Mullins (Scott); two step brothers, Johnny (Claire) and Roger (Pam); one step sister, Karen Ratliff; step mother, Kathleen Adkins; mother-in-law, Drema Adkins; numerous sisters and brothers-in –law; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at the Raccoon Primitive Baptist Church with Primitive Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, Chloe. Arrangements are under the direction of the Community Funeral Home, Zebulon.
Larry Ray Barnett
Larry Ray Barnett, 61, beloved husband, father, son, poppy and proud community leader, of South Williamson, died suddenly Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, due to complications following surgery at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was born in Mount Sterling, June 10, 1955, the son of Billy Ray and Marjorie Lewman Barnett of Mount Sterling.
Larry proudly served the community for 28 years as a pharmacist and owner of Family Pharmacy of South Williamson. His journey began after graduating Montgomery County High School in 1973. From there he attended the University Of Kentucky School Of Pharmacy, where he graduated in 1978. He began his lifelong career as a pharmacist at the Appalachian Regional Hospital at Man, W.Va., where he worked until 1984. In 1984, he transferred to the South Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital, where he accepted the position of Chief Pharmacist. In 1988, he moved on from the hospital and opened his own pharmacy, Family Pharmacy, in South Williamson. Larry owned and operated Family Pharmacy until January of 2016, when he retired. Larry enjoyed the fruits of his retirement, at his home, on Douglas Lake, in Tennessee. He enjoyed traveling and was an avid fisherman, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.
He was preceded in death by both his maternal and paternal grandparents.
His memory is left to be cherished by his wife, Benita Barnett of South Williamson; his children, Michelle Cox (George)of Red Jacket, W.Va., Bradley Ray Barnett (Gayle) of Canada, Heather Leonard (Josh) of South Williamson, Gary Barnett (Kristin) of South Williamson, and Reba Nicole Barnett, of the home; his grandchildren and the lights of his life, Olivia Rayann Cox, Kaden Thomas Cox, Gabriel Jonathan Leonard, Grayson Joshua Leonard, Lilla Claire Barnett and Ella Grace Barnett; his loving parents, Billy Ray and Marjorie Barnett; a brother Donnie Barnett (Hope) of Cincinnati; a sister, Vicki Berry (Rick)of Winchester; his second family at Family Pharmacy; and a host of loving nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday August 5, at the First Baptist Church of Belfry with Joey Kennedy officiating. Entombment will follow at the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy. Arrangements are under the direction of the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
Serving as pallbearers, Josh Leonard, George Cox, Bob Kennedy, Alex Anderson, Kevin Bartram and Donnie Barnett.
John Alexander “John Boy” Casey
John Alexander “John Boy” Casey, 32, of Phelps, died Sunday, July 31, 2016, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, in the Jamboree Church of God, with Hubert Sanderson, Odis Blankenship and Larry Rife officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Family Cemetery, Phelps. Arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps Funeral Services of Phelps.
Laura Rose Craft
Laura Rose Craft, 58, of Bulan, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016, at her residence.
She was in Williamson, W.Va. Dec. 6, 1957, the daughter of the late Homer and Novella Hall Baisden.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Gospel Light Baptist Church in Hazard.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Homer Mitchell Baisden.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Craft of Bulan; one son, Harry Deskins (Misty) of Hatfield; one daughter, Crystal McCoy of Stone; two grandchildren, Dawson Isom and Holly Isom; two sisters, Connie Coley (the late Kevin) of Belfry and Martha Marcum of Knoxville, TN.; four brothers, Carlie Baisden of Belfry, Edward Baisden of Elk Creek, W. Va., Eugene Baisden (Alma) of Elk Creek, W. Va. and John Allen Baisden of Stone; two special friends, Susan and Corbett Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews and members of her church family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chris Fugate officiating. Burial will follow at Farley Cemetery, Elk Creek, W.Va., with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday nights. Arrangements are under the direction of the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.

Willie Hall
Willie Hall, 85, of Shelby Gap, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, at Letcher Manor Nursing Home in Whitesburg.
He was born in Floyd County, March 8, 1931, the son of the late Manual and Osha Hall.
Willie was a retired US Steel worker and a devoted member of the Bethel Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Billy Ray Hall; two daughters, Anna Kelly and Janice Kelly; and two brothers, Orville Hall and James Hall.
He is survived by a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at the Hall and Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Bethel Freewill Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Memorial Park Cemetery at Pikeville. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hall and Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.
Vernon J. Bowling
Vernon J. Bowling, 95, of Robinson Creek, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born in Pike County, Dec., 10, 1920, the son of the late Dover and Daisy Crider Bowling.
He was a coal operator and a member of the Caney Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Virgil, Robert, Ralph and Frank.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Price Bowling; three sons, Gary Dean Bowling, Charles Douglas Bowling (Patsy) and Roger Lee Bowling (Helen); one daughter, Phyllis Jean Bowling Hall (the late Danny); two stepsons, Gerald Crawford and T.J. Crawford; two brothers, Thomas Bowling and John Bowling; one sister, Ruby Robinson; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon Friday Aug. 5, 2016 in the Lucas & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Brian Hundley, Larry Kendrick, Adam Akers and Morgan Chapman. Burial will follow in Johnson Memorial Park, Pikeville.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Wednesday, with nightly services at 7. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Lila Lee Crum
Lila Lee Crum, 83, of Belcher, died Sunday, July 31, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born at Draffin, Oct. 21, 1932, a daughter of the late Mont and Lula Banks Crum.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Curtis Wright, Jimmy Crum, Ed Crum, Raymond Crum, Ruby Crum and Clyde Crum; two sisters, Rushie Hardman and Madeline Roberts.
She is survived by four sisters, Ruth Vanover of Belcher, Faye Ann Ratliff of Mich., Jean Marie Mallard of Youngstown, Ohio and Helen Jo Childers of Canfield, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Hollis Ratliff and Scotty Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Dow Brooks Cemetery, Draffin. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bailey Funeral Home of Elkhorn City.
