Isaiah Matthew May, infant son of Matthew Shawn and Jessica Michelle May of Sidney, died Sunday, July 17, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, in the family cemetery, Sidney. Arrangements are under direction of R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
Visitation is after 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
“Tee” Mullins
Ira “Tee” Mullins, 72, of Belcher, died Friday, July 15, 2016.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Dow Brooks Cemetery, Draffin. Arrangements were under direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Elkhorn City.
Ricky Reed
Ricky Reed, 59, of Hardy, died Sunday, July 17, 2016, at Tug Valley Regional Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 21, in the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Howell-Reed Cemetery, Canada. Arrangements are under direction of R. E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Jean Riddle
Jean Ann Riddle, 73, of Jenkins, died Monday, July 18, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born in Pikeville, Feb. 4, 1943, the daughter of the late Walter and Minta Reynolds Riddle.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Kimberly Johnson (Lyndon) of Brushy; three brothers, Bobby Riddle (Frances) of Virgie, Jimmy Riddle (Delphia) of Greasy and Leon Riddle (Rita) of Pikeville; two sisters, Jerri Coleman (Levi) of Pikeville and Beverly Fairchild (Ricky Decker) of Rogersville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Bailey Salisbury (Jeremy) of Hurricane, Devan Slone (Trittney) of Johns Creek, Olivia Johnson of Lexington and Lincoln Johnson of Pikeville; two great-grandchildren, Easton Salisbury and Ashtyn Slone; a host of “special grandchildren”; and special pets, Pearl and Cooper.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, in the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Kendrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Riddle Family Cemetery, Riddle Crossing, Shelbiana. Arrangements are under direction of Thacker Memorial Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Scotty Thomas
Scotty Thomas, 69, of Belfry, died suddenly Saturday, July 16, 2016, at his home.
Scotty was born at Turkey Creek, May 28, 1949, the son of the late Lonza and Polly Thomas.
He attended Belfry High School and attended Mayo Technical College in Paintsville, where he acquired his associate’s degree in auto body repair. Shortly after his training, he married
Nancy Sue Ward on May 29, 1970, and began working at Hubbard Motors, which became the starting point of his professional career. He owned Thomas Auto Body Repair and Thomas Used Cars with his brother Ferrell Thomas for over 40 years.
Scotty has always been an active member of his church and community where he has been a serving member of Turkey Creek Old Regular Baptist Church.
Above all, Scotty loved his family. He was a devoted husband to Nancy, dedicated father to Scott and Jessica and a doting papaw to Anna and Dylan. He and Nancy frequently visited their grandchildren where he loved to spend time with them and join in all their adventures. Scotty and Nancy also visited Colorado each year to spend time with their son Scott, where he enjoyed camping, biking, and sightseeing in the Rocky Mountains. He spent the rest of his free time golfing, fishing, and making memories with his loved ones.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, James Gregory Spears; and one brother, Bobby Lee Thomas.
Scotty is survived by his wife, Nancy Sue (Ward) Thomas of Turkey Creek; two children, Scott Thomas (fiancée Emily Dailey) of Aurora, Colo., and Jessica Spears (Greg) of Elizabethtown; two grandchildren, Anna Kathryn and Thomas Dylan Spears; two brothers, Ferrell Thomas (Sandy) and Cecil Thomas (Bobbie), both of Turkey Creek; two sisters, Genola Smith and Brenda Blackburn (Harold), both of Richmond; one sister-in-law, Betty Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2016, in the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Elders Hobert Hamilton, Richard Staton and others officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Kentucky. Arrangements are under direction of R.E.Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with special services at 7.
Charles Adkins
Charles Edward Adkins, 52, of Ohio, formerly of Kimper, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016.
Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, July 15, in the Cedar Bottom Regular Baptist Church with burial following in the Slone Family Cemetery, Kimper. Arrangements are under direction of Jones & West Funeral Home of Phelps.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday, at the church, with services at 7.

Daniel Bartley
Daniel Lee Bartley, 52, of Bill King Lane, Pikeville, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born in Pike County, July 9, 1964, the son of the late Freeman Bartley and Betty Hall Bartley.
He was a mechanic.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary Bartley and Mickie Bartley; and one nephew, Larry Bartley.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Smith Bartley; one son, Bubby James Adams of Pikeville; three siblings, Ralph Bartley, David Bartley and Timmy Bartley, all of Pikeville; and four grandchildren, Tyler, Destiny, Jase and Gunner.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 15, in the Community Funeral Home Chapel with Bud Crum and Johnny Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Justice Family Cemetery, Ivy Fork. Arrangements are under direction of Community Funeral Home of Zebulon.
Mary Bentley
Mary Bentley, 51, of Bear Fork of Beefhide, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at her home.
She was born Dec. 8, 1964, the daughter of the late Marion and Maxine Clifton.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ruben Clifton and Jackie Clifton.
She is survived by her husband, Donnie Bentley; one son, Timothy Bentley (Amanda) of Sidney; one daughter, Bridgette Peace (Terry) of Long Fork; three brothers, Danny Clifton (Dianna) of Penny Road, Jimmy Clifton (Anna) of Dorton and Larry Clifton (Brenda) of Tram; two sisters, Diane Miller (Randall) of Long Fork and Belva Blevins (Bo) of Tram; and five grandchildren, Makayla, Makenzie, Dillion, Jacob and Kara.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 15, in the Hall & Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Kevin Bowling officiating. Burial will follow in the Bentley Family Cemetery, Beefhide. Arrangements are under direction of Hall & Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.
Cathy Lewis
Cathy Ann Lewis, 47, of Wellington, formerly of Stopover, died Monday, July 11, 2016, at her home.
She was born in Pike County, Feb. 23, 1969, the daughter of Ethel Emogene Hurley and the late Hayes Hurley.
She was a homemaker, a loving wife and a wonderful mother, daughter and sister.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Charles Lewis; one son, Trey Lewis; her siblings, Raymond Hurley, Darlene and David Wolford, Charlene and Junior Hurley, Deborrhea and Terry Daniels, Connie and Paul Cote, Angie and David Hurley, Pam Bowling and Michael Justice, Billy Hurley, Melissa and Greg Clark, Elvis and Tennie Hurley; her mother- and father-in-law, Belvia and Hubert Lewis; her brothers- and sisters-in-law, David and Angie Lewis, Craig and Caroline Lewis, Todd Lewis, Carrie Lewis; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, July 15, at Tri-City Funeral Home, Benham. Burial will follow in the Lewis Cemetery, Blair. Arrangements are under direction of Tri-City Funeral Home and Jones & West Funeral Home of Phelps.
Bennie Newcomb Jr.
Bennie Newcomb Jr., 58, of Shelbiana, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 16, in the Greasy Creek Freewill Baptist Church with burial following in the Hopkins Family Cemetery, Greasy Creek. Arrangements are under direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Elkhorn City.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday with services at 7.
Algar Newsome Jr.
Algar D. Newsome Jr., 87, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at Parkview Nursing & Rehab.
He was born in Pike County, April 5, 1929, the son of the late Algar D. Newsome Sr. and Gertie A. Justice Newsome.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Joe Newsome.
He is survived by his niece, Jewel Craft of Warsaw, Ind.; and a host of friends and family.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 16, in the Hall & Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Amos Newsome Memorial Cemetery, Robinson Creek. Arrangements are under direction of Hall & Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday, with services beginning at 7.
Berry Thacker
Berry James Thacker, 61, of Denver, N.C., died Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at White Oak Manor, Kings Mountain, N.C.
He was born in Pikeville, Nov. 28, 1954, the son of the late Thaniel Thacker and Irene Blackburn Thacker.
He was a truck driver instructor.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Billie Jo Fuller.
He is survived by his wife, Lori Lynn Hemelrick Thacker; one son, Nathanial Lee Thacker of Pikeville; one stepson, Randall Scott Honeycutt of Denver; three stepdaughters, Katherine Ann Honeycutt, Rebecca Leigh Honeycutt and Cynthia Marie Honeycutt, all of Denver; one brother, Thaniel Gene Thacker (Kimberly) of Pikeville; two sisters, Mary Lou McCloud (Albert) of Stanville and Martha Sue Fannin (Robert Kerry) of Richmond; two grandchildren, Alexander Thacker and Chance Lane Thacker; and one stepgrandchild, Noah James Burton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, in the J.W. Call & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Scott Neal officiating. Burial will follow in the Thacker Cemetery, Jonican. Arrangements are under direction of J.W. Call & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
