Andy Timblin
Andy Lee Timblin, 81, of Mt. Sterling, died Monday, July 11, 2016, at St. Joseph Mt. Sterling.
He was born in Columbus, Ohio, the son of the late Paul and Jean Riddle Timblin.
Besides his parents, Andy was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Shirley Sexton Timblin; and one sister, Anna Koetz.
Andy moved to Montgomery County in 1979 from Jenkins. He was a retired minister and pastor at several churches. Andy wrote and had recently published a book, “A Life Worth Living, ” about his and his late wife’s lives in the ministry. Andy was a member of The Full Gospel Word of God Church in Jeffersonville and attended the Life Impact Church in Mt. Sterling.
While his passion was reading and studying the Bible, Andy also enjoyed playing golf, and watching the Cincinnati Reds. He will be dearly missed by his family, church family and friends.
He is survived by four sons, Paul Timothy Timblin of Pearl, Miss., Drake Timblin of St. Cloud, Fla., Eric Timblin (Linda) of Greenfield, Ind., and Kevin Timblin (Kathy) of Hendersonville, Tenn.; one daughter, Melanie Timblin Campbell of Mt. Sterling; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 15, in the Life Impact Church with Pastor Ike Sams and Pastor Anthony Castle officiating. Burial will follow in the Fortune Cemetery, Mt. Sterling. Arrangements are under direction of Coffman Funeral Home & Crematory of Mt. Sterling.
Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Timothy Timblin, Drake Timblin, Eric Timblin, Kevin Timblin, Dustin Timblin, Nick Timblin and Kyle Timblin.
Mary Bentley
Mary Bentley, 51, of Bear Fork of Beefhide, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at her home.
Arrangements were incomplete at presstime and will be announced by Hall & Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.
James Blackburn
James Kent Blackburn, 53, of Marietta, Ga., died Thursday, June 30, 2016, at his home.
He was born Sept. 14, 1962, the son of Lavonne Reynolds Blackburn of Phyllis and the late James Isom Blackburn.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Douglas Blackburn of Manassas, Va., and David Blackburn of Berea; and one sister, Margaret Elliott (Mickey).
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife, Karen Zirkelbach Blackburn; one daughter, Ashley Blackburn of Marietta; two sons, William Blackburn and Cole Blackburn, both of Marietta; two sisters, Anna Justice (Ernie) of Hardy and Melva Blackburn of Phyllis; one brother, Lane Keith Blackburn of Lexington; and a host of relatives and friends who loved him.
A memorial services was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 7, in St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Marietta.
Memorial donations may be made in his honor to Boy Scout Troop #1776 at Friendsof1776.org.

Barbara Damron
Barbara Ellen Sturgill Damron, 79, of Nicholasville, formerly of Dorton, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington.
She was born in Jenkins, where she lived much of her life, Sept. 14, 1936, the daughter of the late Admiral Dewey “Skinny” Sturgill and Elsie Ellen Cooper Sturgill.
She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church of Nicholasville and formerly a member of Grace Baptist Church, Shelbiana. She was a retired LPN formerly employed by Pikeville Methodist Hospital.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Damron, who died July 3, 1994; one daughter, Deandrea Lynn, who died May 13, 1975; two sisters, Jeanette Reid, formerly of Detroit, and Lois Mills, formerly of Coeburn, Va.; and three brothers, Dewey Sturgill Jr., and Jerry Douglas Sturgill, both formerly of Jenkins, and Martin Tase Sturgill, formerly of Ft. Campbell, Tenn.
She is survived by one daughter, Teresa Ellen Damron Collins of Jenkins; three sons, Stephen Douglas “Steve” Damron of Jenkins and Kevin Fred Damron (Darlene) and Keith Robin Damron (Donna), both of Nicholasville; three sisters, Lindsey Mae Sexton and Sherry Ann Smith, both of Jenkins and Elsie Dee Smith of Corinth; one brother, Terry Truman Sturgill of Vine Grove; nine grandchildren, Kristi, Adam, Brad, Ashley, Aaron, Anthony, Makayla, Alexis and Kennedy; five great-grandchildren, Ally, Kassidy, Preston, Savannah and Easton; and an abundance of nieces, nephews and friends.
Wife, mom, mamaw, granny, sister, aunt and daughter, Barbara was a great woman dedicated to her family and faith. She taught others: to know and serve God; how to enjoy and appreciate life; and continual thankfulness, even during difficult times. She was an inspiration to all and exemplified courage, knowledge, wisdom, tolerance, patience, strength and infinite love. She is now in Heaven holding Deandrea and dancing with Fred (Daddy). Let us rejoice that the Lord has gained a great angel.
Barbara lived 2 Timothy 4:7: “I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course; I have kept the faith.” She is loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 10, in the Polly & Craft Chapel with Pastor Bob Norman officiating. Burial followed in Green Acres Cemetery. Arrangements were under direction of Carty Funeral Home of Jenkins and Neon.
Helen Hatcher
Helen Sue Hatcher, 67, of Allen, died Friday, July 8, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 10, in the J.W. Call & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Ratliff officiating. Burial followed in Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel. Arrangements were under direction of J.W. Call & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Lois Johnson
Lois Johnson, 87, of Jenkins, died Monday, July 11, 2016, at her home.
She was born in Pike County, May 3, 1929, the daughter of the late Haney Bentley and Maudie Belcher Bentley.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Pilgrim Rest Old Regular Baptist Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jonah Johnson; one daughter, Wanda Burke; one brother, Brice Bentley; three sisters, Laura Hardin, Frona Powell and Georgie Bentley; and one grandson.
She is survived by one son, Clyde Johnson (Stephanie); one brother, Eulys Bentley; two sisters, Patsy Armstrong and Carol Tackett, both of Michigan; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 14, in the Lucas & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Damron, Danny Belcher and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Cemetery, Beefhide. Arrangements are under direction of Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Special services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Scott Matney
Scott Matney, 68, of Spring Arbor, Mich., died Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Arbor Manor Nursing and Rehab.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 15, in the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Annie E. Young Cemetery, Chloe Road, Pikeville. Arrangements are under direction of Thacker Memorial Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 14.
Clayton May
Clayton May, 92, of Pikeville, died Sunday, July 10, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born in Pikeville, Jan. 9, 1924, the son of the late Darr and Dealie “Maynard” May.
Clayton proudly served in the United States Army where he retired with honors. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents, Clayton was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elsie B. May; two sisters, Geneva Rife and Jeanetta Tripplett; four brothers, Glen May, Cletus May, Buford May and Linton May; and one nephew, Mike Collins.
Clayton is survived by five sisters, Gaynell May and Estaline Madden, both of Columbus, Ohio, Patsy Thompson (Charley) of Raccoon; and Loretta May and Barbara May, both of Cleveland, Ohio; one nephew, Paul Collins (Loretta); one niece, Ruth Phipps (Larry); and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, in the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Donnie Hall and Alfred Adkins officiating. Entombment followed at Annie E. Young Cemetery, Chloe Road. Arrangements were under direction of Thacker Memorial Funeral Home of Pikeville.

Algar D. Newsome Jr., died Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at Parkview Nursing Home.

Randall Lee Stanley, 56, of Clintwood, Va., died Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, Tenn.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, in the Stanley/Moore Cemetery, John Dane Lane, Clintwood. Arrangements were under direction of Baker Funeral Home of Pound, Va.
Bryan Thacker
Bryant Douglas Thacker, 18, of Rockhouse died Friday, July 8, 2016, at his home.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, in the Poor Bottom Freewill Baptist Church with burial following in the R.H. Ratliff Cemetery, Shelbiana. Arrangements were under direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Elkhorn City.
“Dooty” Adams
Greg “Dooty” Adams, 52, of Ky. 194 East, Phyllis, died Thursday, July 7, 2016, at his residence.
He was born May 25, 1964, in Grundy, Va., the son of the late Clarence Adams Jr. and Myrtle Adams.
He was a retired coal miner from Piston Coal and was of the Church of Christ faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rhonda Shea Adams; and a sister, Gretta Lynn Trivett.
He is survived by a daughter, Kayle Renee (Josh) Hurley; three grandchildren, Charity Grace Hurley, Serenity Shea Hurley and and Riker Charles Hurley; and an aunt, Janice Gay Hayes.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Monday, July 11, at the Upper Grapevine Church of Christ, with Jim Abshire and Dewayne Abshire officiating. Burial will follow in the Anderson Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Saturday and SUnday at the church, with services at 7 p.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lucas and Son Funeral Home.
