Willie Taylor
Willie James Taylor, 70 of Ransom, died Saturday night, Dec. 12, 2015 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, in the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the King Cemetery, McAndrews. Arrangements are under direction of R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
“Big Horn” West
Phillip “Big Horn, “Big Dad” West, 73, of Raccoon, died Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at the University of Louisville Hospital.
He was born in Pike County Nov. 23, 1942, the son of the late Clifford and Gracie Thornsbury West.
Phillip was the owner of N&W Trucking.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Hayes West and Grady West; one sister, Maxine West; and his faithful dog, Ziggy.
Phillip is survived by his wife, companion and best friend of 50 years, Sue West; two daughters, Melisa Sue West and Nancy West, both of Raccoon; one brother, Corbet Adkins of Pikeville; one sister, Donna Rouzer of Fort Louden, Pa.; two grandchildren, Jamie Sue West Bailey and Shawn David Gibson; and two great-grandchildren, Stella Grace West and Nevaeh Reese Bailey.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, in the Bethel Baptist Community Church with Jack Justice officiating. Burial followed in the Hayes Phillips Cemetery, Kimper. Arrangements were under direction of Hall & Jones Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Fred Carter
Fred Carter, 105, of Racoon, died Friday, Dec. 11, 2015 at his home.
Carter was born in Pike County, July 7, 1910, the son of the late Newte and Jessa Gooslin Carter. He was a WWII vetran and a retired coal miner and carpenter. He was also a member of Baptist Faith.
Besides his parents, he proceeded in death by his wife, Alice Blackburn Carter, his first wife, Zella King Carter, two brothers, and three sisters.
He is survived by one daughter, Evelyn Hall (Jeff), nine grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is on Sunday at 6 p. m., family gathering at 5 p. m., at Grassy Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Grassy Freewill Baptist Church with Mark Justice affiliating. Burial will follow at the Davidson Memorial Garden in Ivel. Arrangements are under the direction of Lucas & Son Funeral home of Pikeville.
Alice Davis
Alice Faye Davie, 71, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, died on Dec. 10, 2015.
She was born in Pikeville, daughter of the late Walter and Orpha Thacker.
She lived in Ft. Wayne since 1961 and retired from Mattel as the human resource manager in 1999. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her sister Mary Williamson of Wyandotte, Michigan; her sister Norma Hunt of Haines City, Florida; and her brother-in-law, Mike Craft.
She is survived by her husband James Davis; daughter Sheila (Keith) Weldy of Peyton, Colorado; son Michael (Julie) Davis of Paola, Kansas; brother Bob (Betty) Thacker of Pikeville, sisters Pauline (Ward) Craft and Nancy Craft of Fort Wayne, and Sue Wright of New Haven, Indiana; as well as eight grandchildren.
Calling for family and friends will be from 2-4 p. m. and 6-8 p. m. on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday December 14, at First Assembly of God Church of Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior; Ron Hawkins officiating.

Virginia Reynolds
Virginia Claudette Reynolds, 73, of Grethel, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015 at her home.
She was born in Pike County on October 27, 1942, the daughter of the late James Adkins and Anna B. Casebolt.
She was a homemaker and a member of Pentecostal Faith.
Besides her parents, she is perceided in death by her husband; two daughters, Teresa Damron and Annette Damron; one brother, Tommy Adkins; one sister, Lila Annette Adkins, several grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation will start at 5 p. m. for the family and 6 p. m. for everyone else at Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015 at Lucas & Son Funeral Home affiliated by Billy Compton. Burial to follow at Fords Branch Cemetery.
Thomas Stanley III
Thomas Scott Stanley III, 46, of Pikeville, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, in Stanville.
He was born in Pikeville, Nov. 30, 1969, the son of the late Thomas Scott Stanley II and Billie Sue Cline Stanley.
He was vice president of Kentucky Oil & Refining, a member of Gideon’s International and First Baptist Church of Pikeville.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Susan Nan Stanley.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Dalene Tomlinson Stanley, whom he married
April 23, 1994; one son, Dalton Trent Stanley of the home; one daughter, Alexis Cline Stanley of the home; and one sister, Dr. Nancy Stanley Clark (Kyle Courtnall) of Baltimore, Md.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, in the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel with John Lucas officiating. Burial followed in the Cline Cemetery, Pikeville. Arrangements were under direction of J.W Call Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Pallbearers were Kyle Collier, David Collier, Chris Tomlinson, Matt Tomlinson, Greg Tackett, Dave Moughanian and Charles Ritz.
Alma Coleman
Alma Coleman, 64, of Pikeville, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015, at Grant Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Pikeville, Jan. 23, 1951, the daughter of the late Scott Coleman and Naomi Justice Coleman.
She was a warehouse associate for Big Lots.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Berry; and one sister, Georgia Stephens.
She is survived by one son, Steven Coleman of Columbus, Ohio; one daughter, Debrah Holycross of Columbus; two brothers, Clarence Coleman of Racine, Wis., and Reford Coleman of Paris; one sister, Erma Collins of Pikeville; and three grandchildren, Sophia Walters, Jonathan Walters and Heaven Holycross.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, in the Lucas & Son Funeral Home Chapel. A special service will be held at 7 p.m. Arrangements are under direction of Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Donald Dotson
Donald Dotson, 65, of Pikeville, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, at Best Care Nursing Home, Wheelersburg, Ohio. He was born in Pikeville, June 9, 1950, the son of the late Rank and Nellie (Coleman) Dotson.
He is survived by two daughters, Helen Dotson Holt (Ricky) of Jackson, Ohio, and Nellie Dotson Stevens (Luke) of Greenup; two sons, Michael Dotson (Jamie) of Pikeville and Bradley Canterbury (Shelley) of Florida; three siblings, Ronald Dotson (Barbara) of Wheelersburg and Dallas Dotson and Julie Mullins (Randy), both of Pikeville; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, in the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Burley Muncy officiating. Burial will follow in the Horeb Cemetery. Arrangements are under direction of Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill, Ohio.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Lester Francisco
Lester Eugene Francisco, 90, of Sidney, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015, at Pikeville Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, in the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Smith Cemetery, Sidney. Arrangements are under direction of R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday.
Billy Hall
Billy James Hall, 81, of Robinson Creek, died Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, at his home.
He was born in Floyd County, Aug. 26, 1934, the son of the late Tack Hall and Lizzie Case Hall.
He was a sales rep in the coal industry and a member of the Regular Baptist Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Matlene Barley Hall; two brothers, Walker Hall and Vardie Hall; and three sisters, Ziana Collins, Alice Boyd and Margie Hunter.
He is survived by one son, Ronnie Hall (Deanna) of Robinson Creek; one daughter, Garnett Ann Hall Maher (Richard) of Tucson, Ariz.; four brothers, Kadous Hall of Wayland, Carol Hall of Betsy Layne, Audis Hall of New London, Ohio, and Earl Hall of Dana.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, in the Robinson Creek Old Regular Baptist Church with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial followed in the Newsome Memorial Cemetery, Robinson Creek. Arrangements were under direction of Community Funeral Home of Zebulon.
Melissa Richards
Melissa Richards, 42, of Jeffersonville, Ind., died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at the University of Louisville Hospital.
She was born in Pike County, Sept. 15, 1973, the daughter of Elizabeth P. Prater of Jeffersonville and the late Bobby Dale Kinney.
She was a dental assistant and a member of the Piso Freewill Baptist Church and Greater Faith Tabernacle.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her stepmother, Alice Kinney of Varney; one brother, Dale Kinney (Trish) of Varney; and one sister, Crystal Downing of New Albany, Ind.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, in the Community Funeral Home Chapel with Morgan Chapman and Daren May officiating. Burial followed in the Runyon/Maynard Cemetery, Piso. Arrangements were under direction of Community Funeral Home of Zebulon.

Michael Shawn Lowe, 45, of Rogersville, Tenn., formerly of Hatfield, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, at his home.
