“Janie” Bentley
Donna “Janie” Bentley, 58, of Robinson Creek, died Friday, November 20, 2015 at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born February 4, 1957, in Wise County, Va., the daughter of the late Hershel and Jane Sears Hamby.
She was a homemaker and of the Christian faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Bobby Bentley and JoAnn Bray; and a brother, Bobby Hamby.
She is survived by her husband, Luther Bentley; a son, Christopher (Belinda) Bentley; a daughter, Jennifer (Michael) Sizemore; six brothers, Paul Hamby, James Hamby, Glen Hamby, Roger Hamby, Pete Hamby and Donald Hamby; three sisters, Ruby Ramey, Emma West and Peggy Scalf; and six grandchildren, Dakota Sizemore, Austin Sizemore, Shawn Sizemore, Bradley Bentley, Alisha Bentley and Corbin Bentley.
Funeral services will be held at noon Monday, November 23, at Lucas and Son Funeral Home, with Randy May officiating. Burial will follow in the R.H. Ratliff Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home, with special services Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m.
Arrangements are under direction of Lucas and Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Linda Maynard
Linda Faye (Helton) Maynard, 68, of Goody, died Friday, November 20, 2015, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, November 22, at the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Roger Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the Buskirk Cemetery, Buskirk.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
“Kathleen” Ratliff
Sarah “Kathleen” Rhodes Ratliff, 73, of Stanville, died Thursday, November 19, 2015, at Pikeville Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, at the Boldman Freewill Baptist Church, Harold, with Belmont Johnson and Sonny Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Bush Cemetery, Harold.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hall Funeral Home.
Jeannie Thompson
Jeannie Howell Thompson, 69, of Twin Oaks, Pikeville, died Friday, November 20, 2015, at her residence.
She was born June 11, 1946, at West, Va., the daughter of the late Percy and Josephine Helvey Howell.
She was employed by the Kentucky State Department of Human Resources and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Howell.
She is survived by her husband, Denver Thompson; a daughter, Heather Leigh Thompson, of Pikeville; and two sisters, Alice (Glenn) Little of Virgie and Nancy Bogardus, of Frankfort.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, November 22, at Community Funeral Home, with Tim Swanston officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, Pikeville. Pallbearers will be Nathan Kimberlain, Allen Blackburn, Stephen Walters, David Francisco, Justin Rose and Jim Kinny.
Arrangements are under the direction of Community Funeral Home.
Eddie Coleman
Eddie Wade Coleman, 68, of Tampa, Fla., formerly of Greasy Creek, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, in Tampa.
He was born in Pike County, Nov. 7, 1947, the son of the late Elbert and Myrtle Hopkins Coleman of Greasy Creek.
He was a lineman for Verizon. and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
In addition to his parents, was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Coleman; four brothers, Everett Coleman, Ernest Coleman, Thomas Coleman and Phillip Coleman; and two sisters, Rose Coleman Hemphill and Bettie Jane Coleman.
He is survived by one daughter, Deana Fletcher (Lee) of Riverview; one brother, Estle Coleman of South Shore, Ky.; two sisters, Lillie Tate of Covington, Ga., and Jerrene Kendrick (Gary) of Griffin, Ga.; two grandchildren, Daniel Middaugh and Jonathan Middaugh (Toni); and one great-grandchild, Ella Lee Middaugh.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, in the Lucas & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Scott Tackett officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, East Shelbiana. Arrangements are under direction of Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Mary Compton
Mary Carol Adams Compton, 61, of Upper Chloe Road, Pikeville, died Thursday, February 11, 2016, at her residence.
She was born September 22, 1954, in Pike County, the daughter of the late Verdia and Dicey Marie Slone Adams.
She was a homemaker and of the Christian faith.
She is survived by her husband, Franklin Compton, two brothers, William Adams and Verdia “Lee” Adams; a sister, Judy Liddell; and a host of loving special nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at noon Monday, Feb. 15, at Lucas and Son Funeral Home, with Billy Compton officiating. Burial will follow in the Elkins and Crum Cemetery, Coal Run.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with special services at 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Anna Mitchell
Anna Lee Roberts Mitchell, 85, of Little Creek Road, Pikeville, died Thursday, February 11, 2016, at her residence.
She was born December 12, 1930, in Pike County, the daughter of the late Dave and Bertha Hall Roberts.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Fords Branch Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Mitchell; and a son, Garland Gene Mitchell.
She is survived by two sons, Gary Mitchell of Prestonsburg, and Larry (Brenda) Mitchell of Pikeville; seven daughters, Sandra (John) Corbin of Pikeville, Brenda (Allen) Proffitt of Eolia, Debra (Jim) Thomas of Pikeville, Kathy (Elvis) Keene of Pikeville, Mary (Danny) Harris of Pikeville, Nikki (Billy) Coleman of Pikeville, and Stephanie (Shannon) Little of Morehead; five brothers, Homer Roberts, Chester Roberts, Thomas Roberts, Bennie Roberts and Jerry Roberts; two sisters, Edith Johnson and Judy Younce; and 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 14, at Lucas and Son Funeral Home, with Fled Klatka officiating. Burial will follow in the Mitchell Cemetery at Sookeys Creek.
Visitation will be at the funeral home beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, with services at 7 p.m.

Denver Newsome
Denver Newsome, 75, of Powell Creek, Pikeville, died Friday, February 12, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 10, 1940, in Pike County, the son of the late Hillard and Lexie Bentley Newsome.
He was a coal miner and a member of the Rebecca Old Regular Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Gillespie Newsome; two daughters, Jennifer (Perry) Ratliff and Karen (Lawrence) Kendrick; two brothers, Larry Newsome and Jimmy Newsome; a sister, Jettie Young; and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, at Lucas and Son Funeral Home, with Paul Coleman others officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with special services at 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday.
