Deloice Adams
Deloice Adams, 84, of Harold, formerly of Robinson Creek, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born in Pike County, Dec. 26, 1931, the daughter of the late Enoch and Martha Caudill Calhoun.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clide Adams; one son, Randal Adams; one daughter, Wendy Adams; and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by one son, Raymond Adams (Stephanie) of Gilbert, W.Va.; two daughters, Carol Johnson (Warren) of Virgie and Ellen Hall (Clifford) of Harold; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 8, in the Sebastian Johnson Cemetery, Long Fork of Virgie. Arrangements were under direction of Hall & Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.
LaBelle Anderson
LaBelle Jane Anderson, 94, of Lexington, formerly of Blair, Wis., died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, in the Baptist Health Center, Lexington.
LaBelle was born in Tappen Coulee, rural Blair, Sept. 13, 1921, the daughter of the late Albert and Mina (Pederson) Blom.
She was confirmed May 12, 1935, and graduated from Blair High School on May 23, 1939.
In the 1940s, LaBelle was employed by Montgomery Ward and W.T. Grant stores in LaCrosse, Wis. In 1947, she and her siblings, Orton, Evelyn and LeRoy went on a singing tour for the International Harvester Company entertaining people at the McCormick Deering Day shows. They called themselves the McCormick Deering Ramblers and traveled to towns throughout central and southern Wisconsin. Orton and Evelyn accompanied their singing with guitars and with LeRoy playing the mandolin.
In the 1950s, LaBelle returned to Blair and worked at the offices of the Preston Co-op Creamery.
On Nov. 28, 1958, LaBelle married
Ernest Arnold Anderson of Taylor. Ernest preceded LaBelle in death, Sept. 23, 2004.
LaBelle enjoyed craft projects, crocheting, traveling (especially to Norway), solving crossword puzzles and working on the family genealogy. LaBelle always enjoyed music and dancing. She particularly loved to hear a good fiddle player, especially her brother, LeRoy, and his sons.
LaBelle moved to Kentucky in 2009 to be near her daughter, and was quickly adopted into the McGuire family whom she loved. She made many friends in Prestonsburg, Pikeville, Paintsville and Lexington. LaBelle had the opportunity to dance a few waltzes or a foxtrot every week where she lived and a highlight was that she got to dance at her 94th birthday party, Sept. 13, 2015.
In addition to her parents and husband, LaBelle was preceded in death by five siblings, Orton Blom, Leonora Nimmo, Evelyn Losching, LeRoy Blom and James Blom; and a niece, LeAnn Miller (John).
LaBelle is survived by her daughter, Mary McGuire of Lexington; and nine nieces and nephews, Barbara Capper (Gary) of Barron, Wis., John Nimmo (Shirlie) and Sandy Krpata (Bob), both of Black River Falls, Wis.,
Larry Losching of West Salem, Wis., Mark Blom of Holmen, Wis., Dan Blom (Lori) of Stone Lake, Wis., Kevin Blom (Renae) of Shawnee, Kan., Kari Rowe (Brian) of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Lisa Blom of Onalaska, Wis.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, in the Blair Lutheran Church East with Pastor Barbara Bruneau officiating. Burial followed in Rest Haven Cemetery, Blair. Arrangements were under direction of The Jack Funeral Home of Blair.
Billy Bartley
Billy Bartley, 75, of Jacksons Branch Road, Elkhorn City, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born in Elkhorn City, Jan. 19, 1941, the son of the late Victor Bartley and Gertrude Rose Bartley.
He was a disabled coal miner, formerly employed by Kentland-Elkhorn Coal Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Jenkins masons, the Pikeville masons and the Hylton Freewill Baptist Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, William Anthony Bartley; one sister, Judith Slone; and his in-laws, Lawrence and Lula Cook.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Cook Bartley; one son, Robert Victor Bartley; two daughters, Lisa LuAnne Cure and Valerie Jean Bartley; two sisters, Christine Lucas and Wilma Kelly; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, in the Hylton Freewill Baptist Church with Hylton Freewill Baptist ministers officiating. Burial followed in the Cook Cemetery, Marions Branch, Ashcamp. Arrangements were under direction of Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Wanda Bowens
Wanda Sue Bowens, 64, of McAndrews, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at her home.
Per her request, she will be cremated and there will be no services. Arrangements are under direction of R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
Eddie Coleman
Eddie Wade Coleman, 70, of Riverview, Fla., formerly of Greasy Creek, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, in Riverview.
He was born in Pike County, Nov. 7, 1947.
He was a lineman for Verizon. and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Coleman; four brothers, Everett Coleman, Ernest Coleman, Thomas Coleman and Phillip Coleman; and two sisters, Rose Coleman Hemphill and Bettie Jane Coleman.
He is survived by one daughter, Deana Fletcher (Lee) of Riverview; one brother, Estle Coleman of Southshore; two sisters, Lillie Tate of Covington and Jerrene Kendrick (Gary) of Griffin, Ga.; two grandchildren, Daniel Middaugh and Jonathan Middaugh (Toni); and one great-grandchild, Ella Lee Middaugh.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, in the Lucas & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Scott Tackett officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, East Shelbiana. Arrangements are under direction of Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
David Cook
David Ray Cook, 66, of Lesters Fork section of Grundy, Va., died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, at Buchanan General Hospital, Grundy.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, in the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel with Frank Crum officiating. Entombment followed in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Va. Arrangements were under direction of Virginia Funeral Home of Grundy.
Ruth Eversole
Ruth Eversole, 72, of Virgie, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born in Pike County, Jan. 31, 1944, the daughter of the late Russell and Dixie Tackett.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robie Eversole; one daughter, Robin Eversole; and two brothers, Darrell Tackett and Harold Dean “Snag” Tackett.
She is survived by one daughter, Lisa Tungate; four brothers, Sylvan Tackett, Ronnie Tackett and Teddy Tackett, all of Caney, Tony Tackett of Dorton; two sisters, Louvern Ray and Sissy Tackett, both of Virgie; four grandchildren, Alex Eversole, Daniel Tungate, Santana Tungate and Robie Eversole; and four great-grandchildren, Abbie Mullins, Preston Pugh, Payden Damron and Jerzey Mullins.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, in the Hall & Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Ralph Justice officiating. Burial followed in the Wright & Elkins Cemetery, Three Mile. Arrangements were under direction of Hall & Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.
Charles Freeman
Charles Kenneth Freeman, 83, of Feds Creek, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016, at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was born at Feds Creek, May 11, 1932, the son of the late Joe Freeman and Lena Dotson Blankenship.
He was a machinist in the coal mines and a member of the Feds Creek Baptist Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mona Whitt Freeman; one son, Lonnie Freeman; five brothers, Anthony Freeman, Jack Freeman, Bob Freeman, Erick Freeman and Bruce Freeman; three sisters, Thelma Hamilton, Henrietta Cavins and Betty Wallace; and one grandchild, Kenneth.
He is survived by one son, Keith Freeman of Feds Creek; one daughter, Deanna Fuller of Feds Creek; four grandchildren, Amanda Pruitt, Tyler Freeman, Justin Fuller and Kelsie Fuller; and two great-grandchildren, Brittni Griffith and Joveta Griffith.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, in the Feds Creek Baptist Church with Lloyd Holland officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Va. Arrangements are under direction Bailey Funeral Home of Elkhorn City.
Visitation is at the church after 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, with services at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Bonnie Hamilton
Bonnie Jean Justice Hamilton, 74, of Pikeville, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at Highlands Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Cooperstown, W.Va., April 25, 1941, the daughter of the late Walter Clyde Justice and Magdalene Spears Justice Barker.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Conley Justice and Bobby David Justice; and one sister, Jeanette Hall.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby Linton Hamilton; two daughters, Vicki Renee Crisp (Kenny) of Prestonsburg and Marsha Ann Hamilton of Frankfort; two grandchildren, Matthew Kenton Crisp and Adam Conley Crisp; and two great-grandchildren, Chayse Matthew Crisp and Audrey Kay Crisp.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, in the J.W. Call & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Don A. Lee officiating. Burial followed in the James Cemetery, Lower Johns Creek. Arrangements were under direction of J.W. Call Funeral Home of Pikeville.

Sue Johnson
Sue Johnson, 68, of Newburgh, Ind., , formerly of Pike County, died Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at her home.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 8, in the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Moore Cemetery, Ransom. Arrangements were under direction of R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
Franklin Little
Franklin Delano Little, 83, of Taylor, Mich., formerly of Long Fork of Virgie, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016, in Taylor.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, in the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, Taylor Chapel. Visitation will be held Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. until time for services.
