Denny Robinson
Denny Ellis Robinson, 58, of Pikeville, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016, at his home.
He was born in Pikeville, April 30, 1957, the son of Christine Ratliff Robinson of Elkhorn City and the late Ellis Robinson.
He was a flood insurance agent and a member of Faith First Baptist Church, Regina.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by one son, Trent Ellis Robinson, who died Nov. 18, 1978; and one grandson, Jordon Lee Robinson.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Treasa Ann Coleman Robinson, whom he married
Nov. 6, 1976; one son, Jason Lee Robinson of Butner, N.C.; one brother, Randal Robinson (Vicki) of Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; one sister, Lyvonne Slone (Bobby) of Elkhorn City; and two grandchildren, Jason Aaron Robinson and Emily Kate Robinson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, in the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Justice officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Memorial Park, Pikeville. Arrangements are under direction of J.W. Call Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Pallbearers will be Brody Slone, Kevin Slone, Chad Robinson, Bobby Slone, John Williamson, Bret Meade, Keith Newsome, Brian Newsome, Gary Newsome, Brian Epling, Josh Meade, Noah Little, Dylan Epling and Jason Charles Meade.
Rebecca Slone
Rebecca Allison Slone, 8, of Zebulon Highway, Pikeville, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born in Pikeville, April 18, 2007, the daughter of Nathaniel David Slone and Beverly Ann Lizzie Beth Slone.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, in the Pikeville Old Regular Baptist Church with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial followed in the Kidd Cemetery, Kidd Fork of Big Branch. Arrangements were under direction of Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Elmer Smith
Elmer Smith, 87, of Ransom, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016, at the Mountain View Health Care Center, Elkhorn City, following a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, in the Hatfield Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Alley Cemetery, McCarr. Arrangements are under direction of Hatfield Funeral Services of Toler.
Military services will be conducted by Belfry DAV Chapter #141.
Max Smith
Max Ballard Smith, 64, of Ransom, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born in Williamson, W.Va., Jan. 5, 1952, the son of the late Ballard and Martha Hatfield Smith.
He was a retired coal miner, formerly employed by Kentucky Carbon Coal Company, a member of United Miner Workers of America and was of the Old Primitive Baptist faith.
He is survived by one son, Max Edward Smith (Amy) of Ransom; two daughters, Melissa Isom (Dave) of Ransom and Tonya Smith of North Matewan, W.Va.; his companion, Marlene Dotson; four stepchildren, Angela Elkins and Michael Dotson (Samantha), both of North Matewan, W.Va., Sabrina Dixon (Chris) of Hurricane, W.Va., and Chasity Stewart (Jack) of Logan, W.Va.; three sisters, Brenda Buchanan (Bill) of Ransom, Patty Hatfield Soto (Antonio) of Sidney and Donna Hatfield (Earsel) of Phelps; 13 grandchildren, Cierra Smith, Jacob Smith, Zach Spence, Alex Spence, Aylssa Isom, Sonya Mullins, D. J. Mullins, Ashley Mullins, Chelsie Elkins, Seth Elkins, Karis Dixon, Dawson Isom and Holly Isom; four great-grandchildren; and a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, in the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Werntz and Mike Smith officiating. Burial followed in Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy. Arrangements were under direction of R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
Roberta Stacy
Roberta Stacy, 63, of Buskirk, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at her home.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 8, in the Chambers Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Stacy Family Plot of the Buskirk Cemetery of Radio Hill. Arrangements were under direction of Chambers Funeral Services of Matewan.
Todd Stanley
Todd Christopher Stanley, 52, of Canada, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born in Fort Gordon, Ga., June 9, 1963, the son of Margaret Faye O’Bryan Stanley of Canada and the late Olva Gene Stanley.
He was a disabled coal truck driver and a member of the Sharondale Church of Christ.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Tiffany Leigh Stanley.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife, Linda Carol May Stanley; one son, Christopher Ryan Stanley (Onua Kristin) of Canada; one daughter, Whitney Brooke Chafin (Steven Corey) of Stone; one brother, Shane Christian Stanley of Canada; one granddaughter, Addison Chae Stanley; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Ruth Eversole
Ruth Eversole, 72, of Virgie, died Friday, February 5, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.
Funeral services were incomplete as of presstime Friday and will be announced later by Hall and Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.
Mary Hogan
Mary Marjorie Justice Hogan, 87, of Beckley, W.Va., died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.
Born Sept. 5, 1929, in Pikeville, Mary spent most of her life in Beckley. She attended Pikeville Business College and worked for many years as a secretary in Hawaii at the end of World War II, as well as in Pikeville and Beckley.
Prior to becoming a patient at Harper Mills Nursing Home and the Bowers Hospice House, Mary lived in the home of her beloved son, Richard Hogan in Beaver, W.Va.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Lula McCoy Justice and Lucas Bee Justice, as well as all 10 of her siblings: Gustavia, Curtis, Charlie Ralph, Bee Jr., Rush, Wallace, Loyd, Hi Pauley, Katie and Virginia.
Mary is survived by her son, Richard Warren Hogan of Beaver, and her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Briggs Hogan and Warren Primiano, of Swampscott, Mass. She is also survived by her two beloved grandchildren,
granddaughter Mary Amanda Reeder, and her husband William Lambert, and their children, Evan, Max and Beatrice, and grandson Briggs Andrew Reeder, his wife Abigale Reeder, and their children, Claire and Meara; as well as many nieces, nephews and their families.
To her grandchildren Mary was known affectionately as “Beckley Ma.”
Mary’s ashes will be buried in a family cemetery in Pikeville at a later date.
Donations may be made to the Bowers Hospice House.

Elmo Miracle
Elmo Miracle, 77, of Indian Creek, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at his home.
He was born at Elwood, Dec. 15, 1938, the son of the late Albert Holden and Mollie Fern Miracle.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Johnson Miracle; two brothers, Bill Miracle and Sonny Miracle; and one sister, Betty Sue Woods.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Carol Johnson Miracle; one son, David Miracle (Brenda) of Robinson Creek; three daughters, Connie Sue Hopkins (Brian) of Indian Creek, Annetta Fern Stewart (Brian) of Belcher and Jennifer Lynn Stiltner (Kevin) of Lick Creek; three stepsons, Joseph Leander Slone (Teresa) of Martin, Teddy Ray Slone (Diana) of Allen and Richard Duane Slone (Tabitha) of Elwood; one stepdaughter, Polly Marina Collins (Jason) of Caney; one brother, Freddy Miracle (Katherine) of Little Creek; two sisters, Nancy Lou Compton (Robert) of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Helen Berniece Johnson (Tom) of Granger, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, eight stepgrandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great-stepgrandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and one great-great-stepgrandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, in the Bethel Freewill Baptist Church with Bethel Freewill Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Roberts Cemetery, Jonancy. Arrangements are under direction of Hall & Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.
Visitation will begin at noon Saturday, at the church, with services at 7 with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Sunday services will be conducted at 7 p.m. by Bethel Freewill Baptist ministers.
Jessie Scott
Jessie Scott, 86, of Somerset, formerly of Elkhorn City, died Friday, February 5, 2016.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, February 8, at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, Elkhorn City.
Arrangements are under direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Elkhorn City.
James Sincell Jr.
James Sincell Jr., 56, of Phelps, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Pikeville Medical Center.
Born December 14, 1959 in Williamson, W.Va., he was a son of the late JoAnn Ellis and James Sincell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister; Betty Pena; and an infant brother, Sammy Sincell.
James was a former employee of the Pike County Road Department and was of the Pentecostal Faith. He loved to spend time riding four wheelers and sharing a few laughs with friends.
Those left to mourn his passing include one son, James Allen Sincell of Phelps; two daughters, Brittany (Ryan) New of Phelps and Amy (Rabon) Wolford of Louisa; four grandchildren, Riley and Laikyn New and Rabon and Jacob Wolford; three brothers, Frankie, George and Robbie Sincell; one sister, Patsy Chapman; special friends, Super Dave, Lynn, Jennifer, Pork, Jonnika, Preston and Sherry Adkins. James is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, February 8, at the Jones and West Funeral Home, Phelps, with Rev. Mitch Bowling officiating. Burial will follow in the Wolford Cemetery, Bones Branch of Phelps. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with special services at 7 p.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Jones and West Funeral Home of Phelps.
Roberta Stacy
Roberta Stacy, 63, of Buskirk, died Thursday, February 4, 2016, at her residence.
Funeral services were incomplete as of Friday and will be announced later by Chambers Funeral Services of Matewan, W.Va.
Roger Adkins
Roger Adkins, 61, of Fords Branch, died Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at Grant Medical Center.
He was born in Pikeville, the son of Nell Ruth Adkins and the late Hiram Adkins.
He was a self-employed residential contractor and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Adam Blaze Adkins and Andrew Dylan Adkins; one brother, Richard Adkins; and three sisters, Jacqueline Slone (Ron), Liz VanHoose (Dickie) and Sandra Adkins (Chris); and a special friend, Sherry Huff.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, in the Lucas & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Roger Hicks and Richard Staton officiating. Burial will follow in the Adkins Cemetery, Fords Branch. Arrangements are under direction of Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday.
