“Patrick” Nichols

Danny “Patrick” Nichols, 37, of Pikeville, died Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, at his home.

He was born in Pikeville, Dec. 12, 1978, the son of Danny Nichols and Judi Robinette Nichols.

He was a coal miner and electrician and a member of Maranatha Bible Church.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and his maternal grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his stepmother, Tonia Nichols; his wife, Brandi Richardson Nichols; one daughter, Lainey Nichols; one son, Logan Nichols; one sister, Kristi Nichols Edmonds (Charles); his maternal grandmother, Neva Robinette; his mother and father-in-law, Lesha and Kevin Prater and Darrell and Sonya Richardson; his grandfather-in-law, Rufus “Hop” Justice; three sisters-in-law, Kacey Boyd (Pat), Devin Gray (Trent) and Kassidy Prater; eight nieces and nephews, Hannah and Zachary Edmonds, Hillary, Emily, Lilly and Holly Boyd, Audrey and Jaxon Gray; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, in the Lucas & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Hopson and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Robinette Cemetery, Brushy. Arrangements are under direction of Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.

Special services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Felicia Sanders

Felicia Dawn Osborne Sanders, 38, of Jonancy, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.

She was born in Pike County, Nov. 9, 1977, the daughter of Bobby and Ida Mullins Osborne.

She was a former Head Start teacher at Dorton Elementary and a CNA at Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center. She was a member of the Bethel Freewill Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by one daughter, Natoshia Renee Sanders; one son, Trevor Alan Sanders; one brother, Robert A. Osborne (Debbie) of Winfield, W.Va.; one sister, Francene Damron (Kenny Wayne) of Jonancy; and a special friend and caretaker, Angel Tackett.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, in the Hall & Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Bethel Freewill Baptist ministers officiating. Entombment followed in the Whispering Pines Mausoleum, R.H. Ratliff Cemetery, Shelbiana. Arrangements were under direction of Hall & Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.

Don Tackett

Don Roger Tackett, 59, of Long Fork of Virgie, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, in Louisville.

He was born in Bellville, Mich., Nov. 3, 1956, the son of Ester Miller Rouse of Long Fork and the late Don Tackett.

He served in the U.S. Navy for 17-1/2 years and had worked at Pikeville Medical Center.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by one son, John Roger Tackett of Louisville; two daughters, Mary Hazel Tackett Ancheta and Rebecca Ann Phares, both of Virginia Beach, Va.; three brothers, Richard Keith Tackett of Portland, Ore., Timothy Shawn Tackett of Long Fork and Jonathon Rouse of Dana; two sisters, Sharon K. Robinson of Shelbiana and Mary Elizabeth Hall of Elkhorn City; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, in the Hall & Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Brian Hundley and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery, Long Fork. Arrangements are under direction of Hall & Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. Thursday with services beginning at 7.

Betty Tackitt

Betty Joyce Tackitt, 82, of Pikeville, died Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.

She was born at Rockhouse, May 28, 1933, the daughter of the late Floyd Blackburn and Opal Rowe Blackburn.

She was a grocery/gas store owner and a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance, Virgie.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Tackitt.

She is survived by four sons, Terry Milum of Chillicothe, Ohio, Bobby Gene Blackburn of Pikeville, Timothy Milam of Van Lear and Johnny Wilcher of Harold; one sister, Florene Musgrave of Pikeville; nine grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, in the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel with Randall Stewart officiating. Burial followed in Johnson Memorial Park, Pikeville. Arrangements were under direction of J.W. Call Funeral Home of Pikeville.

Howard Webb

Howard Waylon Webb, 27, of Pikeville, died Friday, Jan. 22, 2016.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, in the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, Chloe Road. Arrangements are under direction of Thacker Memorial Funeral Home of Pikeville.

Walter Weddington

Walter Weddington, 87, of Weddington Hollow, Pikeville, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at Weddington Hollow.

He was born in Pike County, Dec. 27, 1928, the son of the late Henry Weddington and Vernie Justice Weddington.

He was a coal miner and a member of United Mine Workers of America. He was of the Freewill Baptist faith.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, George Weddington, Bobby Gene Weddington and Willie Weddington.

He is survived by his wife, Delia Mae Ellis Weddington; two daughters, Gerry Stewart (William) of Weddington Hollow and Marlene Adkins (Micky) of Maryville, Tenn.; two brothers, Rudolph Weddington of California and Timmy Weddington of Pikeville; three sisters, Fona Tibbs (Jim) and Vickie White, both of Pikeville, Mary Jo Lawrence of California; five grandchildren, Amanda Meeks (Phillip), Tommy Stewart (Beth), Kristy Thacker (Benny), Justin Adkins (Katie) and Joshua Robert Courtney (Heather); and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, in the Community Funeral Home Chapel with Randy Damron and Willie Abshire officiating. Burial will follow in the Weddington Family Cemetery, Stone Coal. Arrangements are under direction of Community Funeral Home of Zebulon.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. Wednesday with special services nightly at 7.

Benny Horn

Benny Gene Horn, 62, of Williamson, W.Va., died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, at the Williamson Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, in the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Stepp Cemetery, Williamson. Arrangements are under direction of R.E Rogers Funeral Home of Pikeville.

Nora Bragg

Nora Rose Bragg, 58, of Williamson, W.Va., died January 17, 2016 at Pikeville Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held at the McCoy Cemetery at Burnwell at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 25.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chafin Funeral Home of Delbarton, W.Va.

Dorothy Johnson

Dorothy Lee Johnson, 85, of Pinsonfork, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, at the Tug Valley Regional Medical Center, South Williamson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, in the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy. Arrangements are under direction of R.E.Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.

Rickie Akers

Rickie Akers, 65, of Pikeville, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1916, at Pikeville Medical Center.

He was born in Pikeville, June 30, 1950, the soon of the late Woodrow Akers and Verlie Tackett Akers.

He was an asbestos inspector for the Pike County Board of Education, a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Vietnam, and a member of Pleasant Valley Church.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Franklin Akers and Bobby Ray Akers.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Collins Akers; two daughters, Christie Akers Boyd (Bobby) and Melanie Akers Dials (Shawn), both of Pikeville; one brother, Larry Donald Akers of Rochester, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Dustin Lacy Boyd, Brittni Brianne Boyd, Cody Randall Dials and Haley Rashae Dials; and one great-grandchild, Dawson Cade Boyd Chapman.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, in the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel with Adam Akers and Roy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, Chloe Road. Arrangements are under direction of J.W. Call Funeral Home of Pikeville.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday with special services nightly at 7.

Pallbearers will be Cody Dials, Dustin Boyd, Shawn Dials, Bobby Boyd, Eddie Collins, Bobby Akers, Shannon Akers, Willie Perrigan and Jim Perrigan.

“Bill Bob” Bentley

William Robert “Bill Bob” Bentley, 73, of Harless Creek of Regina, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, in Hazard.

Bill Bob was born in Pike County, March 31, 1942, the son of the late Milford and Girtie Slone Bentley.

He was a U.S. Army veteran; a Kentucky Colonel; a member of Thomas C. Cecil Lodge #375 F&AM; a Shriner of El Hasa Temple, Ashland; a Scottish Rite Mason, Lexington; a York Rite Mason Chapter 133, Council #96, Commandary #45, Pikeville; Order of Eastern Star, Anna O. Young Chapter #28, Pikeville; also a member of White Water Shrine Club and the Pike County Shrine Club.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Barbara “Blair” Bentley; two children, Robin Miller of Feds Creek and Anthony Bentley (Becky) of Regina; two brothers, Dennie Bentley of Peyton Creek and Chalmer Bentley of Elkhorn City; five grandchildren, Payton Miller ( Jessica) of Lexington, Madison Miller of Savannah, Ga., Parker Miller of Feds Creek, Tyler Bentley of Regina and Daesha Hamilton (Dustin) of Elkhorn City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, in the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Tommy England officiating and military rites conducted by Johns Creek DAV Chapter #166. Entombment will follow at Annie E. Young Cemetery, Chloe Road. Arrangements are under direction of Thacker Memorial Funeral Home of Pikeville.

Special services were held Thursday, conducted by the Anna O. Young Chapter #28 and Thomas C. Cecil Lodge.

Pallbearers are Greg Belcher, Roger Blair, Barry Blair, Danny Chaney, Payton Miller, Tyler Bentley, Dustin Hamilton and Parker Miller.
