Nicky Roberts
Nicky Dale Roberts, 63, of Robinson Creek, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, at his home.
He was born in Pike County, June 1, 1952, the son of the late Tillos and Kelsie Elswick Roberts Little.
Nicky is survived by his three children, Chris Roberts, Nikole (Roberts) Buzzard, and Ali Roberts; four siblings, Roy Lee Roberts, Brenda McCown, Patsy Smith and Tammy Johnson; many loving nieces and nephews and extended family as well. He was also proudly and anxiously awaiting the arrival of his first grandchild, Olivia Rae Buzzard, who arrived Jan. 16, 2016.
Nicky was a loving father, brother, friend and one of the most loving and selfless men this world ever knew.
Nicky served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a proud Army veteran.
Nicky loved the outdoors, enjoyed riding his gator around his property perfecting his landscaping, and fishing with his closest friends. There was nothing he loved more than visits from his children and spending time with his loved ones.
His arrangements have been delayed at this time at his family’s request. Arrangements will be held at a later date to provide a greater tribute and fulfill his wishes.

Janice Thacker
Janice Deloise Thacker, 78 of Upper Chloe Road, Pikeville, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center, following a lingering illness.
She was born in Pikeville, Aug. 22, 1937, one of seven children born to the late Virgil and Pet Smith, formerly of Pikeville.
She was a lifelong resident of Pikeville, where she was a homemaker for her husband and four children. She was a member of the Meta Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Ray Thacker; one son, Billy Joe “Joey” Thacker (Sherri) of Sidney; one daughter, Rhonda Sue Thacker (Jack Mitchell) of Pikeville; and one sister, Dee Robinson (Elkana) of Pikeville.
She was also blessed with six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ellen Smith; three brothers, George Smith, Alvin Smith and Shorty Smith; two precious sons, Bobby Dean Thacker and Jerry Keith Thacker; and one granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Thacker.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, in the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Tommy Dehart officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, Chloe Road. Arrangements are under direction of Thacker Memorial Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Douglas Adkins
Douglas Adkins, 66, of Aflex, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the Burnwell Gospel Revelation Tabernacle. Burial will follow in the McCoy Cemetery at Burnwell. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hatfield Funeral Chapel of Toler.
Camilla Bentley
Camilla Bentley, 53, of Pikeville, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born in Pikeville, Oct. 23, 1962, the daughter of Linda Bartley Looney and the late Emmitt Looney.
She was a medical transcriber.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one sister, Pamela Stafford.
Besides her mother, she is survived by her fiance’, Mike Titus; two sons, Corbin Michael Bentley of Pikeville and Kyle Austin Bentley (Jillian) of Lexington; one brother, Kevin Looney of Pikeville; one sister, Tammy McPeek of Pikeville; two nieces, Sydney Coleman and Kenzie McPeek, both of Pikeville; and one nephew, Matthew Smith of Elkhorn City.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, at the Immanuel Baptist Church, with Mike Sanders officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the J.W. Call Funeral Home of Pikeville.

Gordon Ray Burke, 71, of Wheelwright, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at the Pikeville Medical Center.
Funeral services were incomplete as of presstime and will be announced later by the Hall & Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.
Zetta Christine Chapman
Zetta Christine Chapman, 76, of Long Fork, Virgie, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at the Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born at Grayson, Feb. 11, 1940, the daughter of the late William and Mary Lewis Triplett.
She was a beautician and a member of the Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Leon Chapman; one daughter, Mary Baisden; four brothers, Johnny, William, Lester, and George Triplett; and five sisters, Lavada Amber, Charlene May, Mary Triplett, Judith Triplett, and Deloris Lee.
She is survived by one daughter, Ruth Caudill (Darl); four sons, Christopher Chapman, Richard Lee Chapman (Virginia), Steven Chapman (Cheryl), and Oliver Ray Chapman; one sister, Darlene Lee; one brother, Clifford Triplett, six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at the Long Fork Old Regular Baptist Church, with Gary Hampton and others officiating.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Wednesday, at the church, with special services nightly, beginning at 7. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Ethel Chapman Cochran
Ethel Chapman Cochran, 90, of Huddy, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016.
Funeral services were held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy. Arrangements were under the direction of the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
Victor Silas Damron
Victor Silas Damron, 66, of Hellier, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, at the Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born in Pikeville, July 20, 1950, the son of the late Silas and Louise Ratliff Damron.
He is survived by a son, Joshua Damron (Noel) of Pikeville; his companion and fiance, Loretta Hylton; and one granddaughter, Holly Marie Damron.
Victor served his country proudly in the U.S. Army, attended Hellier and Millard High Schools. He was a true Hellier “Hellcat”.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the Hellier Missionary Baptist Church, with Greg Whitetree officiating. DAV Honors will be observed by the Elkhorn City Chapter #40. Burial will follow in the Johnson Memorial Park at Pikeville. Arrangements were under the direction of the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Melda Marie Dillon
Melda Marie Dillon, 71, of Williamson, W. Va., died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington.
She was born at Red Jacket, W. Va., May 17, 1945, the daughter of the late Tom and Easter Sullivan Scott.
She was a Head Start Teacher for Blackberry Elementary School, for 27 years, and a member of the Toler Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Smith; two sisters, Lois Schaffer and Bobbi Ann Hayes; and one brother, Dan Scott.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Dillon of Williamson, W. Va.; her children, Robbie Smith (Kelly) of Ransom, Robin Hatfield (Scott) of Canada, Shelly King (Mark) of Lexington, and Brett Smith (Bethany) of Huntington, W. Va.; step-children, Ethel Grace Russell (Roger) and Donald Dewayne Dillon (Sonya), all of Raw, W. Va.; brother, Tom Scott of Piqua, Ohio; sister, Rosa Kinsella of Piqua, Ohio; grandchildren, Joshua Hicks Smith, Hayley Paige Ferrell (Tyler), Alexis Shae Whitt (Michael), Scott Andrew Hatfield Jr., Brandon King, Lakyn King, and Robert Isaac King; great-grandchildren, Piper Rae Whitt and Easton Brett Smith; step-grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Davis (Noah), Melissa Dawn Smith (Matt), Shae Dillon, and RaeAnna Charles (Cory); step-great-grandchildren, Ariona Smith, Addison Brooklyn Davis, David Michael Whitt, and Grayson Eli Whitt; she was expecting two more great-grandchildren to be born very soon, Liam Smith and Wyatt Ferrell; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at the Bluesprings Freewill Baptist Church, with Roger Mullins and Johnny Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Bluesprings Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery at Ransom. Joshua Smith, Brandon King, Andrew Hatfield, Isaac King, Mark King, and Scott Hatfield will be serving as pallbearers.
Visitation is after 6 p.m.Wednesday and Thursday, at the Toler Freewill Baptist Church, with special services nightly at 7. Arrangements are under the direction of the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
Shirley Yvonne Burke Johnson Ditty
Shirley Yvonne Burke Johnson Ditty, 81, of Westland, Mich., formerly of Dorton, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at Garden City Hospital in Michigan.
She was born in Pike County, Sept. 19, 1935, the daughter of the late Palmer and Flonnie Mullins.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Benjamin A. Johnson Jr.; first husband, Benjamin Johnson; one brother, Tommy Burke; and two sisters, Sharon and Kitty.
She is survived by her husband, Donald E. Ditty; one son, Rhondal Johnson; one daughter, Deborah Kaye Johnson Sobus; eight sisters, Teresa, Vanita, Linda, Wanda, Donna, Pamela, Paula, and Jeanie; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the Pilgrim’s Rest Old Regular Baptist Church, with Danny Belcher and others, officiating. Burial will follow in the Burke family Cemetery at Lick Fork of Beefhide. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
