Norma Conn
Norma Lee Wilburn Conn, 94, of Harold, died Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, at the home of Bonnie Bailey.
She was born in Amba, March 14, 1921, the daughter of the late Finley Wilburn and Myrtie Sturgill Wilburn.
She was a homemaker, co-owner of Conns Texaco & Boron Service Station, and a member of the Little Hannah Regular Baptist Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Madison Conn; and five brothers and sisters, Golden Wilburn, Clifford Wilburn, Bertha Mae Wilburn, Erma Damron and Rhoda King.
She is survived by two sons, Paul Conn (Edna) and Noah Conn (Melissa), both of Harold; one daughter, Bonnie Conn Bailey (Ishmael) of Harold; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, in the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel with Terry Bryant and Willie Crase officiating. Burial will follow in the Conn Cemetery, Toler. Arrangements are under direction of J.W. Call Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Visitation is after 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Charles Daniels
Charles Tennis Daniels, 86, of Majestic, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Center, Phelps.
He was born in Majestic, June 11, 1929, the son of the late Raymond and Bessie O’Quinn Daniels.
Tennis was the minister of the Majestic Church of Christ and had been a faithful member of the church since the mid 1970s. He was a welder, dozer operator, and foreman, formerly employed by HK Coal Company and Norfolk & Western Railway. Tennis was a Kentucky Colonel and loved to spend time fishing and hunting. He was a good family man and a well-respected member of the community.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Arbretta Lilly Daniels; his son-in-law, Larry Bronstein; one brother, Richard Daniels; and one sister, Leona Estep.
He is survived by his wife, Christine Daniels; one son, Marshall Daniels (Marsha) of Majestic; two daughters, Velva Bronstein of Kansas City, Mo., and Loraine Kennedy (Albert) of Cleveland, N.C.; one stepson, Larry Rice (Mary) of Pikeville; one brother, Talvis Daniels of Illinois; two sisters, Josie Spangler (Kyle) of Bee, Va., and Shelby Jean Muncy of Chicago; three grandchildren, Regina Rogers (David) of Gastonia, N.C., Elichia Daniels (Jamie Hall) of Delbarton, W.Va., and Corey Kennedy of Cleveland; one stepgrandson, Terrence Rice (Tammy) of Pikeville; three great-grandchildren, Kyndra Fields and Amalyssa Fields, both of Fort Gay, W.Va., and Raina Rogers of Gastonia; one stepgreat-grandchild, Gracie Rice of Pikeville; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, in the Jones & West Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Gene Clemons officiating. Burial will follow in the Daniels Family Cemetery, Majestic. Arrangements are under direction of Jones & West Funeral Home of Phelps.
A service of remembrance will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Pallbearers are David Grubb, David Daniels, Billy Daniels, Ernie Prater, Richard Wolford, Jamie Hall and Johnny Lee Daniels.
Ramona Hackney
Ramona Sue Blair Hackney, 67, of Pikeville, died Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born in Pikeville, July 26, 1948, the daughter of the late Jessie Edward Blair and Betty Jo Lewis Blair.
She was a homemaker and a member of Meta Baptist Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Gail Hackney.
She is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Sue Hackney Watson (Gary) and Rebecca Hackney Bevins (William Matthew); five sisters, Louise Curd (Ronnie), Rachel Thacker (the late B.J.), Georgia Watson (the late Rodney), Helen Henry (Bill) and Jeannie Bartley (Gary); and three grandchildren, Kirsten Paige Bevins, Joshua Michael Johnson and Jordan O’Neal Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, in the Lucas & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Henry, Bill Scaggs and Jody Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Memorial Park, Pikeville. Arrangements are under direction of Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Visitation is from 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, with special services nightly at 7.
Pallbearers are Joshua Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Gary Bartley, Jeremy Bartley, Joseph Coleman and Ronald Curd.
Geneva Hylton
Geneva Hill Hylton, 86, of Marrowbone Creek, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born in Pike County, May 24, 1929, the daughter of the late Elzia Hill and May Adkins Hill Hylton.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Rockhouse Unity Freewill Baptist Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Hylton; her stepfather, Jim Hylton; one brother, Ruben Hill; and one sister, Eva Adkins Burke.
She is survived by one daughter, Paula Coleman (Elmer); four brothers, LeRoy Hill, Bud Ray Hill, Ray Hylton and Kermeal Hylton; three sisters, Elouise Rowe, Lorean Adkins and Nella Jean Stanley; and one grandchild, John Thomas Brown Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, in the Rockhouse Unity Freewill Baptist Church with Freewill Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, East Shelbiana. Arrangements are under direction of Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Special services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the church.
Rhonda May
Rhonda Gail May, 50, of Phyllis, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born in Grundy, Va., Dec. 7, 1964, the daughter of Bobbie P. Estep and the late John Anderson.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Kimper Church of Christ.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Danny May; one brother, John Anderson Jr.; and one sister, Pamela G. Hunt.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, in the Kimper Church of Christ with Jack Horn, Joe Ray Horn and Sammy Slone officiating. Burial will follow in the Anderson Cemetery. Arrangements are under direction of Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Mary Mullins
Mary Beth Mullins, 76, of Elkhorn City, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements were under direction of Bailey Funeral Home Inc. of Elkhorn City.
Bobby Price
Bobby Lee Price, 73, of Belcher, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born in Whitewood, Va., Oct. 15, 1941, the son of the late Ira Bailey Price and Virginia Irene Holmes Price.
He was a coal miner.
He is survived by one son, Bobby Gene Price of Bastian, Va.; two daughters, Jennifer Shortt (Mickey) of Abingdon, Va., and Rebekah Hall (Craig) of Jenkins; two brothers, Clarence Jr. Price of Bastian and Jeff D. Price of Whitewood; two sisters, Armalee Brown of Whitewood and Carrie McCoy of Citrus Springs, Fla.; five grandchildren, Joshua Shortt (Kristy), Cory Shortt, Seth Hall, Samuel Hall and Ian Hall; one great-grandchild, Kaydan Shortt; and a special friend of the family, Arthur Lawson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Jason Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hills, Va. Arrangements are under direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Elkhorn City.

Jimmy Damron
Jimmy Douglas “Doodle/Bubba Dee” Damron, 52, of Virgie, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015.
He was born May 19, 1963, in Pike County to the late General and Myrtle Akers Damron.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; Varnell, David and Samuel Damron.
He is survived by his wife/loving companion, Judy C. Myers; two sons, Jimmie (Yvonne Hollfield) Myers and Vincent Boomer Myers, both of Virgie; two daughters, Brandi (Dana McCown) Damron of Floyd County, Kadella (Kenneth Mullins) Damron of Beefhide; three brothers, Kenneth (Leah) Damron of Penny, General “Bill Boy” Damron of Virgie, and Pete (Barbara) Damron of South Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three sisters, Georgia (Randall) Ramsey of Virgie, Beatrice (Larry Joe) Little of Penny, and Alfie Brewer of Robinson Creek; six grandchildren, Haven Meade and Averi McCown, both of Floyd County, Ashton Mullins and Aria Mullins, both of Beefhide, Svannah Myers and Reva Myers, both of Virgie; along with his mother-in-law, Linda Little of Virgie and a special niece, Mississippi of Portsmouth, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends, and he was a father figure to many of the children in the area.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 4, at the Hall and Jones Funeral Home with Roger Ford officiating. Burial will follow in the Kinney Branch Cemetery at Caney Highway.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with a service at 7 p.m.
Active pallbearers will be, Kenneth Damron, General “Bill Boy” Damron, Little Randall Ramsey, Josh Ramsey, Dustin Brewer, Little Larry LIttle, Jimmie Myers, Troy Hamilton and Shannon Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Randall Ramsey, Larry Joe Little, Boomer Myers, Pete Darmon and Jimmy Wright.

“Slim” Deaton
Charles “Slim” Deaton, Jr., 85, of Richmond, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015, at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center of Richmond after a long illness.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Phyllis Rollins Deaton; three sons, Charlie (Greg), Chad (Laura), and Joe (Carla); four grandchildren, Alisha, Libby, Charlie, and Sam Deaton; and one great-grandchild, Joseph Conley Deaton. Also surviving is one brother, William Deaton of Lexington.
He was born, September 15, 1930, in Hazard, Kentucky to Reverend Charles and Omedia Allen Deaton, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Murray State University and the University of Kentucky. Slim worked as a football coach in several areas of Eastern Kentucky, but his favorite job was when he worked for the Christian Appalachian Project. It was there where he started a program title “Operation Sharing” which was instrumental in helping people help themselves.
Visitation will be at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home on Monday, October 5, 2015 from noon until 2 p.m. followed by a memorial service. Burial will be at a later date at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
