Roosevelt Coleman
Roosevelt Coleman, 74, of Elkhorn City, died Friday, September 25, 2015, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born March 14, 1941, in Wolfpit, the son of the late Oll and Edna England Coleman.
He was a coal miner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Trubie Coleman and Curtis Coleman.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Rowe Coleman; three daughters, Debbie (Billy) Ratliff of Draffin, Tammy (Steve) Adkins, of Elkhart, Ind., and Tiffany (Mikey) Puckett of Wolfpit; five sisters, Marie Thacker Coleman and Ample Hill, both of Wolfpit, Myrtle Bentley of Slones Branch, Oma Hill of Draffin and Reba Johnson of Iowa; six grandchildren, Billy (Kayla) Ratliff, Bridget (Tim) Chupp, Kayla Carter, Destinee Ratliff, Tionna Puckett and Alexis Pucket; five great-grandchildren, Khloe Ratliff, Alizayah Carter, Gavin Chupp, Logan Chupp and Colin Chupp; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, with Richard Gibson, Ray Tackett, Darrell Harmon and Mike Coleman officiating. Burial followed in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, Shelbiana.
Arrangements were under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Elkhorn City.
Floyd Ratliff
Floyd Kevin Ratliff, 47, of Hurricane Creek, Kimper, died Saturday, September 26, 2015, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
He was born April 9, 1968, in Pike County, the son of JoAnn McCloud Ratliff of Kimper and the late Floyd Raymond “Buck” Ratliff.
He was employed in sales, was a member of the Big Creek Freewill Baptist Church and a member of the Thomas C. Cecil Lodge #375.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Ratliff; and three children, James Michael Ratliff, Kevin Ryan Ratliff and Heather Kristina Ratliff, all of Kimper.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at th e Cedar Bottom Old Regular Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Layne Cemetery, Kimper.
Arrangements are under the direction of Community Funeral Home.
Raymond Sanders
Raymond R. Sanders, 73, of Jensen Beach, Fla., formerly of Ashcamp, died Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at Martin Memorial Medical Center in Stuart, Fla.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Aycock Funeral Home, Jensen Beach. Entombment followed in the All Saints Cemetery, Jensen Beach.
Arrangements were under the direction of Aycock Funeral Home, Jensen Beach.
Wanda Slone
Wanda Sue Slone, 58, of Pikeville, died Saturday, September 26, 2015, at her residence.
She was born July 27, 1957, in Pikeville, the daughter of the late Green and Maxine Bevins Slone.
She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ashley Chaney; two sisters, Brenda Slone and Linda Worrix; and a brother, John Slone.
She is survived by a son, Seven Dwayne Slone of Pikeville; four brothers, Lonnie (Haley) Slone, Donald (Brenda) Slone, Randy (Trish) Slone and Ricky (Sabrina) Slone; two grandchildren, Brandon Slone and Canyon Slone; and beloved dog, Abby Gail.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 1, at J.W. Call Funeral Home, with Bud Crum and Robert Stump officiating. Burial will follow in the Bevins Cemetery, Wolpen Branch, Pompey
Visitation will be Wednesday at the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of J.W. Call Funeral Home.
Lou Ellen Stacy
Lou Ellen Stacy, 68, of of Second Street, Pikeville, died Thursday, September 24, 2015, at her home.
She was born January 26, 1947, in Pike County, the daughter of the late Clint Stiltner and Lilly Ruth Hunt.
She was a homemaker and of the Christian faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Stiltner.
She is survived by her husband, Danny Lee Stacy; a son, Gary Casey; a daughter, Angela (Greg) Blankenship; two stepdaughters, Amanda Hughes and Brandy Jibley; three brothers, Daniel Stiltner, Robert Stiltner and Dennis Stiltner; a sister, Sharon Presley; a grandchild, Breyden Blankenship; and four step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, at Lucas and Son Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Davidson Memorial Garden.
Arrangements were under the direction of Lucas and Son Funeral Home, Pikeville.
Georgia Taylor
Georgia F. Taylor, 81, of Bean Station, Tenn., died Thursday, September 24, 2015, at Morristown Hamblen Hospital.
She was born February, 24, 2015, in Pike County, the daughter of the late Bert and Opal Newsome Hamilton.
She worked in the C.A.P. office.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Duran France and an infant son, Rey.
She is survived by her husband, Don Taylor; two sons, Bert D. (Carol) France and Marty (Teresa) France; a daughter, Colleen Susie (Gary) Damron; three stepchildren, Connie Glen Taylor, Donna Lynn (James) Bryant, and Bradley (Pamela) Taylor; half sisters Betty Roberts, Juanita Blair and Edna Clark; stepsister, Ann McCown Coleman; seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, five step grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 6 p.m., Saturday, September 26, at Lucas and Son Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Johnson Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Arrangements were under the direction of Lucas and Son Funeral Home.
Steve Wallace
Steve Wayne Wallace, 39, of Long Fork of Virgie, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born in Richlands, Virginia, to the late Patricia Wallace.
He is survived by his companion, Autumn Courtney of Long Fork; a son, Herb (Bub) Courtney; three daughters, Kayla Wallace and Joyce Ann Courtney, of the home, and Alana Younce of Georgetown; and a grandson, Keegan Wayne Courtney.
Memorial services were held Monday at 7 p.m. at the Caney Creek Freewill Baptist Church with Freewill Baptist ministers officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Hall and Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.
Margaret Bellamy
Margaret C. Bellamy, 91, of Pikeville, died Friday, September 25, 2015, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born August 18, 1924, in Perry County, the daughter of the late Henry and Naomi Bryant Cuddy.
She was a secretary and a member of the Main Street Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl G. Bellamy, and five brothers and one sister.
She is survived by three sons, Thomas Earl (Pamela) Bellamy, Jerry Lynn (Saundra) Bellamy and Hank (Trecia) Bellamy; and five grandchildren, one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, September 27, at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home, with Josh Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lucas and Son Funeral Home.
Harold Hall
Harold Dean Hall, 60, of Jenkins, died Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at his home.
He was born May 24, 1955, at Dorton, the son of the late Forrest Conley Ray and Cora Hall.
He was a coal miner.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Kay Smallwood Hall; two sisters, Shirley Gerardo and Elaine Hall; four nephews, Josh Smallwood, Bruce Smallwood, Jason Oscar and Michael West, for whom he was also Godfather; and two nieces, Tammy Smallwood and Krysten McKnight, for whom he was also Godfather.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 26, at the Beefhide First Alliance Church, with David Tackett officiating. Burial will follow in the Smallwood Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Lucas and Son Funeral Home.
Johnny Miller
Johnny Miller, 59, of Phyllis, died Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
He was born May 3, 1956, in Pikeville, the son of the late Janis and Effie Lowe Miller.
He was a coal miner and a member of the Mountain View Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Tommy and William Miller.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Presley Miller of Phyllis; a son, Dakota Miller of Phyllis; a daughter, Jessica Miller of Phyllis; a sister, Debra Miller of Shelby Valley; six brothers, Robert (Linda) Miller, Paul (Sue) Muller, Ronald (Theresa) Miller and Donald Griffith, all of Phyllis, Raymond (Theresa) Miller of Salyersville, and Chris (Angie) Griffith of Raccoon; and a grandchild, Breanna Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 26, at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, Elkhorn City, with Frank Crum and Joe Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Dow Brooks Cemetery, Draffin.
