Joseph Reed, 43, of Pikeville, died Tuesday Dec. 18, 2012.
He was born Aug. 25, 1969, in Jeffersonville, Ind. to the late Basil and Rebecca Clark Reed.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa Dryden Reed of Pikeville; two sons;, Danny Bailey and Shawn Bailey; two grandchildren; one brother, Charles Burgett of Columbus, Ohio; and one sister; Kathy Craven of Columbus, Ohio.
Arrangements are entrusted to the thacker Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Mabel Sexton
Mabel Sexton, 84, of Pikeville, died Dec. 20, 2012, at Parkview Nursing Home.
A private family service will be held.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lucas and Son Fuenral Home.
Bennie Tackett
Bennie Joe Tackett, 61, of Clay City, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington.
He was born in Pikeville, June 24, 1951, the son of the late Clarence and Artie Tackett.
He was employed by Kroger and attended the Freewill Baptist Church, Clay City.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Larry Tackett; one stepson, James Tackett; three brothers, L.J. Tackett, Harold Dean Tackett and Bobby Gene Tackett; and one sister, Dorothy Domino.
He is survived by his wife, Helen King Tackett; three sons, Keith Tackett of Michigan, Tom T. Tackett and Jack Tackett, both of Harold; one daughter, Ilene Aune of Michigan; three stepsons, Dwaine Tackett, David Tackett and Dennis Tackett, all of Harold; one stepdaughter, Tootsie Tackett; 11 brothers and sisters, Archie B. Tackett of Michigan, Jerry Tackett, Irene Rose and Virgie Spears, all of Grethel, Gary Tackett, Eugene Tackett, Tony Tackett, Terry Tackett, Bonnie Allen and Darlene Tackett, all of Harold, Patty Miller of Betsy Layne; 13 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, in the Glen Haven Memorial Chapel with Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow in New Haven Memorial Gardens, New Carlisle. Arrangements are under direction of Glen Haven Memorial Chapel of New Carlisle, Ohio.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Lower Toler Church of Christ, Harold, and after noon Friday in Glen Haven Memorial Chapel.
Betty Trout
Betty Sue Trout, 64, of Ransom, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio.
She was born in Pike County, March 12, 1948, the daughter of the late Ermal and Hazel Stoots Hager.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Hager; and one sister, Annie Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Henry C. Trout; one daughter, Susan Kay Ratliff of Charleston, W.Va.; two sons, James Ermal “Jamie” Trout of Louisa and Henry C. Trout Jr. of Delbarton, W.Va.; one sister, Mary New of Ransom; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Dec. 22, in the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the family cemetery, Ransom. Arrangements are under direction of R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday with special singing at 7.

Judith Adkins
Judith Adkins, 64, of Pikeville, died Dec. 16, 2012.
She was born on Feb. 2, 1948, to the late Estill Sadler and Betty Georgene Stambaugh Sadler.
Judith is survived by her husband John Lewis Adkins; one son Kenneth Douglas Fleming of Pikeville; three Daughters Pamela Smith, Laura Lynn Fleming, Shawna Kay Brumheller and Jamie Lynn Brumheller all of Pikeville; one sister Donna Waddell of Paintsville Kentucky; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
During her illness Musgrave gave passionate and countless hours of care, alone with the staff at Pikeville Medical Center. At the end hospice was her choice of care. All these caretakers gave such wonderful care.
She will be missed by all whom knew and loved her.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Claude and Denice Hopkins officiating. Burial followed at the Mac Adkins Family Cemetery at Hurricane Creek.
Arrangements are under the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Barbara Blevins
Barbara Jean Gibson Blevins, 59, of Tram, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born in Floyd County, Jan. 5, 1953, the daughter of the late Henry Dallas and Lona Blevins Gibson.
She was a retired caregiver and a member of the Church of God on Prophecy, Tram.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jimmy Gibson, Forrest Gibson and Clyde Blevins.
She is survived by her husband, Jesse Blevins; one daughter, Sherrie Crum of Tram; four sisters, Geneva "Tee" Walker, Iva Lee Taylor, Bulah Slone and Barbara Johnson, all of Tram; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, in the Nelson Frazier Funeral Home Chapel with Atha Johnson and Lester Johnson officiating. Burial followed in the Blevins-Crum Cemetery, Tram. Arrangements were under direction of Nelson Frazier Funeral Home of Martin.
Mack Caines
Tilden "Mack" Caines, 70, of Chesnee, S.C., formerly of Williamson, W.Va., died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at his home.
He was born in Pike County, June 27, 1942, the son of the late Ernest and Loriane Smith of McVeigh.
He was a retired coal miner, a member of United Mine Workers of America, and the Chattaroy Church of God.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Mark Scott; and two brothers, Carol B. Caines and Elmer Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Caines; one daughter, Janice Wood of the home; two grandchildren, Rachel Toney and Ivey Wood, both of the home; four daughters, Tosha Hickman, Michelle Caines, Tonya Caines and Crystal Martin; two sons, John Toney and Jerry Toney; 14 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Emmit Smith and Chester Smith.
Funeral services were held at noon Sunday, Dec. 16, in the Chattaroy Church of God with Mike Bostic officiating. Burial followed in the Runyon Cemetery, Pinsonfork. Arrangements were under direction of R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
Carol Dooley
Carol Dooley, 74, of Lackey, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born in Floyd County, Oct. 13, 1938, the daughter of the late Worley and Zella Mae Slaven Dooley.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Lackey Freewill Baptist Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Turpin, Ruth Sexton and Margie Sue Mosley.
She is survived by one son, Dale Wayne Slone of Lackey; one daughter, Jamie Combs of Lackey; two brothers, Jack Smith of Port Richie, Fla., and Glen Dooley of Petersburg, Mich.; two sisters, Linda Dooley of Wayland and Tammy Crum of Inez; two grandchildren, Donnie B. Combs and Michael Combs; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at noon Monday, Dec. 17, in the Lackey Freewill Baptist Church with Johnny Collins, Larry Patton, Dean Hall, Bethel Bolen and Buddy Jones officiating. Burial followed in the Lackey Cemetery. Arrangements were under direction of Nelson Frazier Funeral Home of Martin.
Vivian Eplin
Vivian Kaye Eplin, 52, of Pikeville, died Sunday Dec. 16, 2012 at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 10, 1960, in Pikeville, the daughter of the late Jack Edmonds and Peggy Hamilton Edmonds.
She was a clerk at I-Stop.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Eplin; and a brother Jack Edwin Edmonds
She is survived by a son Jeremy Kent Eplin of Lawrenceburg; a sister Luella McDonald of Frankfort.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at J.W. Call Funeral Home with Barry Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of J.W. Call Funeral Home.
