Lois Bonita "Bonnie" Blankenship - age 78 of Phelps, KY formerly of Matewan, WV passed away Monday; August 22, 2016 at the Good Shepherd Community Nursing Center in Phelps, KY. Born March 30, 1938 at Freeburn, KY; she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Martha Smith Stump.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Billy Eugene Blankenship, 1 daughter, Lynna Blankenship, 3 sons, Joel, Allen, and David Blankenship, a daughter-in-law, Denise Blankenship, and several brothers and sisters.

Bonnie was a homemaker and was of the Church of God faith.

Survivors include 4 sons, William (Melody) Blankenship of Majestic, KY, Wayne (Patricia) Blankenship of Joliet, IL, James (Nevada) Blankenship of Jessamine County, KY, and Ronald Blankenship of Matewan, WV, 1 brother, Dewey Stump Jr. of Florida, 4 sisters, Joyce Zak of Palm Springs, CA, Ann Hensler of Illinois, Emogene Hall of Illinois, and Sandra Maynard of Majestic, KY, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday; August 26, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. from the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Bro. David Smith and Bro. Dennie Land officiating.

Burial will follow in the Blankenship Cemetery at Sand Siding, WV.

Visitation will be from 6-9 P.M. Thursday evening at the funeral home with services at 7:00 P.M.

George Gregory "Greg" Runyon

George Gregory "Greg" Runyon - age 60 of Martin County, KY passed away peacefully Wednesday; August 17, 2016 at his home following a lingering battle with cancer. Born December 2, 1955 in Williamson, WV, he was the son of the late Rev. George and Oretha Blevins Runyon.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Wilburn Runyon and Rev. William Gary Runyon.

Greg was a former coal miner, and a member of the Buck Branch United Baptist Church at Wolf Creek, KY.

Those left cherish his memory include 3 sons, George and Gary of Hardy, KY and Josh of Charleston, WV, 2 daughters, Crystal of Columbus, OH and Amy of Williamson, WV, 4 sisters, Rita (Lewis) Montgomery of Martin County, KY, Betty Runyon of Beaver, OH, Sue (Bill) Evans of Beaver, OH, and Naomi "Sissy" (Rick) May of Canada, KY, 10 grandchildren, a host of other family and friends, and his 4 loving companions, his cats, Gail, Orenthal, Alabaster, and Blind Slim.

He will be sadly missed by all. I leave my love to my special friends, Charles Patrick and Billy Dials, and as I call them my boys, Rev. Daboe Stacy and Rev. Buddy Stacy.

A special thanks to Jackie Chambers, Alene Runyon, Donna Jones, and Appalachian Hospice Care of Martin County for all their kindness and help.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday; August 21, 2016 at 11:30 A.M. from the Buck Branch United Baptist Church at Wolf Creek with Rev. Daboe Stacy and Rev. Buddy Stacy officiating. Burial will follow in the Runyon Cemetery on Rt. 292, Martin County, KY. Active pallbearers will be my special nephews Bryon Marcum, Ethan Marcum, Bret Marcum, Keith Montgomery, Bill Evans, and Gideon Clay Ison. Honorary pallbearers will be Rick May and Lewis Montgomery.

Visitation will be after 6:00 P.M. Friday and Saturday evenings at the Buck Branch United Baptist Church with services nightly at 7:00 P.M.

Lois Jean Dotson

Lois Jean Dotson - age 81 of McCarr, KY passed away Sunday; August 14, 2016 at the Good Shepherd Community Nursing Center at Phelps, KY. Born February 2, 1935 in Pike County, KY; she was the daughter of the late George Walker Dotson and Anna B. Garland Dotson.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by four brothers, Ray, Don, Charles, and George "G.W." Dotson, and one sister, Susie Mendell.

Jean was a retired social worker for the Pike County Board of Education and she was a member of the Blackberry Interdenominational Church.

Survivors include two brothers, Claude (Brenda) Dotson of Forest Hills, KY and Clyde (Judy) Dotson of McCarr, KY, two sisters, Edna Fern (Joe) Taylor of Lexington, KY and Brenda Gail (Fred) Alley of Virginia, and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday; August 16, 2016 at 12:00 P.M. from the Dotson Cemetery at McCarr, KY with Paul David Dotson and Johnny Phillips officiating and burial to follow.

Visitation will be from 6-9 P.M. Monday evening at the funeral home.

Scotty Harmon

Scotty Harmon - age 26 of Hardy, KY passed away Friday; Sept. 23, 2016 at his home following a battle with cancer. Born November 13, 1989 at Louisa, KY; he was the son of the late Homer and Charlene Prater Harmon.

Scotty was a maintenance worker at Walmart in South Williamson, KY and became a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Amanda Noel Griffith Harmon of Hardy, KY, 1 daughter, Kyrston Faith Harmon of Sprigg, WV, 2 sons, Nathan Scott Harmon Jr. and Blake Aaron Harmon both of Hardy, KY, 2 sisters, Nichole Harmon of Matewan, WV and Angel Harmon of Dingess, WV, his father-in-law, James (Sherry) Griffith of Hardy, KY, his mother-in-law, Connie Smith of Williamson, WV, and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday; September 25, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. from the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Bro. Earl White and Bro. Ray Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Family Cemetery at Mudlick; Hardy, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service on Sunday at the funeral home.

Earl "Little Snake" Blankenship Sr.

Earl "Little Snake" Blankenship Sr. - age 70 of Turkey Creek, KY passed away Wednesday; September 21, 2016 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Born January 26, 1946 at Lindsey, WV; he was the son of the late Howard and Della Carter Blankenship.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Curry Blankenship, 1 grandchild, Kiran Blankenship, 2 sisters, and 2 brothers.

Earl retired from the railroad after 44 years of service and he was a member of the Gospel House Church at Taylorville, WV.

Survivors include 1 son, Earl Dwayne Blankenship of Turkey Creek, KY, 2 daughters, Erlena (Alan) Baird of Murfreesboro, TN and Rhonda (Jimbo) May of Canada, KY, 6 sisters, Jean Betler of Berman, OH, Helen Mounts Blankenship of Gilbert, WV, Shirley Hurley of Matewan, WV, Betty Blankenship of Majestic, KY, Linda Hammond of Paigland, SC, and Glendean Jablensky of Newtown, WV, 2 grandchildren, 2 special nephews, Billy and Woodrow Hurley, and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday; September 23, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. from the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Bro. Haskell Runyon Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Family Cemetery at Turkey Creek, KY with members of the Matewan Volunteer Fire Department and other family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6-9 P.M. Thursday evening at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.

Verlin Scott

Verlin Scott - age 90 of Bedford, KY formerly of Hardy, KY passed away Monday; Sept. 12, 2016 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, KY. Born February 21, 1926 at Hardy, KY; he was the son of the late Will and Esta Stanley Scott.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Verlin was a disabled coal miner and a former U.S. Mail carrier. He was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Birdie Webb Scott of Bedford, KY, his children, Willie Scott of Bedford, KY, Ronald Scott of Pendleton, KY, Christine Coburn of Eminence, KY, Patsy (Kenneth) Powell of Bedford, KY, Cletis (Alma) Scott of Bedford, KY, and Diana Scott (Andy) Louden of Goshen, KY, 7 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday; Sept. 16, 2016 at 12:00 P.M. from the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Elders Teddy Honaker, Ralph Slone Jr., and Bobby Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Scott Cemetery at Narrows Branch; Hardy, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6-9 P.M. Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Tommy Tilley

Tommy Tilley - age 64 of Ransom, KY went home to be with the Lord on Friday; Sept. 9, 2016 following a long illness. Born June 12, 1952 in South Williamson, KY; he was the son of the late Hawk and Molly McCoy Tilley.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Tilley, and 2 brothers, Jack Tilley and Arnold Tilley.

Tommy was a disabled coal miner and a member of the Victory in Jesus Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Tilley of Ransom, KY, his daughter, Mindy (Jamie) Cotterman of Ransom, 6 brothers, Hawk (Rita) Tilley of Ransom, John (Peg) Tilley of Ohio, Bruce (Arta) Tilley of Hardy, Bob (Connie) Tilley of McCarr, Millard (Debbie) Tilley of Tennessee, and Roger Tilley of Pennsylvania, 2 sisters, Kathy (Tom) Laney and Hazel Tilley both of McCarr, his grandchildren, Tommy Arnett, Molly

Arnett, Peyton Cotterman, Kelsey Cotterman, Blake Newsome, and Shane Cotterman.

Also surviving is a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday; Sept. 13, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. from the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Bro. Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Anderson-Hatfield Cemetery at McCarr, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6-9 P.M. Sunday and Monday at the funeral home with services nightly at 7:00 P.M.

Bryan G. Deskins

Bryan G. Deskins - age 57 of South Williamson, KY passed away suddenly Friday; August 26, 2016 in the emergency room at the Tug Valley Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, KY. Born October 30, 1958 in Williamson, WV; he was the son of Vonna Stepp Deskins of Hatfield, KY and the late Clarence Deskins.

In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Doug Deskins, and his father-in-law, Quincy Lambert.

Bryan worked as a coal miner for over 30 years and was currently employed as a factory worker for Sherwin Williams in Georgetown, KY. In addition to being a hard worker and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, Bryan loved to be out riding his motorcycle.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Kim Lambert Deskins of South Williamson, KY, his children, Amy (Luke) Maynard of Georgetown, KY and Christopher Deskins of Irvine, KY, 1 granddaughter, who was his pride and joy and the light of his life, Adisyn Quinn Maynard, 1 brother, Gary (Juanita) Deskins of Cynthiana, KY, his mother-in-law, Faye Lambert of South Williamson, KY, 2 brothers-in-law, James Lambert of Lexington, KY and Scott (Leta) Lambert of Richmond, KY, a sister-in-law, Alisa Vance of South Williamson, KY, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday; August 30, 2016 at 12:00 P.M. from the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Pastor Gary Robbins officiating and burial following with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6-9 P.M. Monday evening at the funeral home.

Douglas Adkins

Douglas Adkins - age 66 of Aflex, KY passed away Sunday; October 16, 2016 at the St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, WV. Born February 2, 1950 at Aflex, KY; he was the son of the late Ruley and Mahalia Doyle Adkins.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Adkins, and a sister, Anna Bell Collins.

Doug was a retired mechanic.

Survivors include 1 sister, Dorothy Adkins, 4 brothers, Lester Adkins, William Adkins, Charles Jim Adkins, and Oscar Adkins, 3 nieces and 2 nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday; October 19, 2016 at 12:00 P.M. from the Burnwell Gospel Revelation Tabernacle at with Pastor Delbert McCoy and Bro. John Victor McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in the McCoy Cemetery at Burnwell with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be after 4:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the Burnwell Gospel Revelation Tabernacle with services at 7:00 P.M.

Carl Douglas "Doug" Justice Jr.

Carl Douglas "Doug" Justice Jr. - age 73 of Huddy, KY passed away Sunday; October 9, 2016 at the Pikeville Medical Center following a battle with cancer. Born December 30, 1942 at McAndrews, KY; he was the son of late Carl Douglas Justice Sr. and the late Margaret May Justice.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Smith Justice, and 2 grandsons, Chad Justice and Justin Edward Booten.

Doug was a retired electrician from Eastern Coal Company and he was a jack of all trades.

Survivors include 2 children, Mary Margaret (Charlie) Booten of Huddy, KY and Derrick Douglas (Pam) Justice of Hardy, KY, 2 brothers, Ronnie (Lauretta) Justice and Greg (Donna) Justice both of McAndrews, KY and 2 sisters, Pamela Justice (Randy) Clark of Borderland, WV and Jody Justice of Inverness, FL, 2 grandchildren, Derrick Dustin (Linsey) Justice and Erica Booten (Jason) Smith, 4 great-grandchildren, Aidan Smith, Trevor Justice, Parker Justice, and Ariana Justice. Also surviving is a host of friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday; October 12, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. from the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Bro. Bob Norman officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Huddy, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6-9 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hatfield Funeral Chapel of Toler, KY.
